Oasis Oud

Habibi has done it again. Looking at the scent profile, I thought that this fragrance would be too heavy and deep for me. I thought it would lean far masculine, well out of my comfort zone. Nevertheless, it came in my discovery set, so I knew that I would eventually give it a try. I tried on this fragrance at night thinking that it would be a safe time to try something that I would surely dislike. Wow, was I wrong. From first spray, I was immediately blown away. I sat at the edge of the bed and kept sniffing my wrists where I had sprayed Oasis Oud. When my husband entered the room 30 minutes later, he immediately exclaimed, "Wow! I really like that!" Oasis Oud is a deep floral scent. When I first sprayed this fragrance, I was immediately greeted by jasmine and leather with a touch of raspberry. It dried down to a beautiful, deep, woody floral. Oasis Oud is sensual and comforting. I am unexpectedly, yet head over heels in love. I am truly so glad that I had the opportunity to be introduced to Habibi and fragrances like Oasis Oud.

This is one of my favorite scents from Habibi. Some around me said they get a fecal hint. Not close for me. It is enjoyable. Great mild oud scent with a hint of leather in the background. Love the base notes. Sits a great deal of time on clothes and has decent projection. With some of the responses may not be good for small enclosed office space. Who cares? Just wear it if you like it.

First I'd like to comment on the presentation. As with all their offerings, Habibi sticks to its base style for both boxing and bottling and use color and artwork to really distinguish their various fragrances. I'd imagine this singular physical presentation helps keep their costs down. Still the artwork really make each fragrance seem unique. The bottles are sturdy with a little heft, as are the gold caps. I love the presentation and the bottles really enhance my collection visually! Second, I'll comment on the shipping and follow up. Shipping is fast, I have purchased from Habibi on multiple occasions and, if my memory serves, it has never taken more than two business days for product to arrive at my doorstep. I receive constant text and email updates, some personalized. This newer company has impressed me with their follow up. Lastly, the fragrance! While this fragrance has a somewhat bright opening I find that the base notes are noticeable throughout the run of the fragrance. The less than typical floral and fruit notes really give this fragrance a unique and attractive scent profile. I get a full workday out of this fragrance, not just as a skin scent but still radiating ever so slightly of my skin. An ideal green scent that works in most business and casual settings.

Ok, so the opening of Oasis Oud, I really enjoy. The raspberry and oud notes come out most strongly on me, sometimes the cypriol oil comes out strongly as well. (I think? There is some kind of menthol herbal smell.) The syrupy oud and fruity sweetness reminded me a little of Calligraphy Rose because of that medicinal rose. Although Oasis Oud smells like a typical fruity style attar in the opening, so not too unique, I still liked it and found it strong enough but also not too overbearing. The drydown is where it all collapses on me. One spray can dry down to a soft floral musk that is pleasant to others - however: in the mid one day, I started to smell an animalic fecal oud. And after that, I have never been able to unsmell that toilet association. When I sprayed this on properly (5 sprays) it really started to remind me of a public toilet in the drydown. I didn't get that fecal smell anymore, but the floral musk really started to remind me of the artifical cleaners, toilet cakes, etc. that are used in public restrooms. Stale flowers, overlaying something bodily and unpleasant. I have tried full on wearing this twice since the initial whiff of something bad, and I get that scent every time now. It's not for me. This has really taught me a good lesson of really wearing something, not just sniffing the opening on your wrist. If this works for you, I am super happy for you! And jealous!

This is the tackiest Habibi fragrance I've tried. Unfortunate.
