Penthouse Suede

Penthouse Suede is one of those fragrances that literally got me fascinated, right from the idea behind its creation. The desire to recreate, through olfactory accords and expensive molecular extraction techniques the aroma that one can perceive when sitting and admiring the view from a high rise New York City room : the smell of metal, of glass, trying to transmit that cold sensation that one has when touching it. I have to say that the recreation of this sense is quite faithful : one can perceive metallic notes, made sour by the presence of citrus, with a softness in the background ( which a little reminded me of the fragility of glass) given by a creamy iris, with slightly dusty nuances supported by a slightly floral part and balanced by a very delicate, almost imperceptible saffron. it's really special, stimulated my curiosity and senses : promoted with honors. “Lunch Atop A Skyscraper” a wonderful and iconic photograph, as innovative for the times as this fragrance.

I blind bought this one, never having heard of the brand, and it immediately became my favorite I've ever owned. Somehow, the pepper and bergamot meld with the metal to be a sweet but masculine metallic scent, to where you wouldn't even really think about it being metallic unless you're looking for it. The metal sticks around for longer than the pepper and citrus, melding with the floral middle notes. As it dries down, the metal disappears and becomes more and more of a comforting amber and floral scent with the sandalwood coming and going.

Smooth fragrance. Great warm opening that provides a soft woody place to land. I could enjoy this in any weather. Habibi has some great offerings and this is one of them. This fragrance comforts you and provides a little elevation.

Despite the name, I get absolutely no suede effects from this. To my nose this is largely rose, pink pepper, woods, and booze. As another reviewer mentioned, there is something metallic about this. It's similar to the metallic rose that's found in ELDO Hermann à mes Côtés, VCA Moonlight Patchouli, or Lalique Perles. This is slightly synthetic smelling, but not terribly so. I wouldn't mind this on someone else, but it's not for me. I think it's just a tad bit too metallic for my taste. Fantastic performance, lasting all day on me. Leans masculine IMO.
