Halston 1-12

** Final edit 4th day 10/30/25** Ok, just now on day four after introducing air into my latest formulation bottle of 1-12 and the performance has improved by leaps and bounds and I wasnt expecting it to improve as much or nearly this fast bc the dna started off so "Thin" and was very fleeting initially! Now, ! I did a side by side (2 spritzes on left arm of 1-12, 2 on right arm Bogart Signature) and they both lasted just about as long although Jacques Bogart Signature does project just a tad more. So if anyone enjoys your classic, masculine green-Power House fragrances such as Bogart Sig. or Paco Rabanne PH, Polo Green or Quorum, just do yourself a favor and grab this INSANELY inexpensive bottle of 1-12! Its different enough from the before mentioned fragrances that it wont be redundant as 1-12 is more "Citrus-Forward," has a very slight powderiness and is also brighter/more astringent than the one's Ive mentioned and that "Astringency" really adds something very nice to tthe wearing experience. Also like Ive mentioned before, whatever theyre using as an "OakMoss Note" smells really great when it dries down adding a nice depth to the scent! A SUUUPER solid "Cheapie" which inspired me to also purchase Z-14 and even Halston-Women as its considered a Unisex leaning Chypre for today's pallette.. CHEERS! ***Edit 3rd day in 10/29/25*** WHAT THE F-K!! Yo! Ive only had Halston 1-12 for 3 days and its ALREADY improved quite a bit! Whereas initially it would start off strong only to almost vanish within the hour, it is now lasting nearly 5 hours on skin and nex5 day on clothes! I expected a sl8ght improvement, but WOW! The "OakMoss" or whatever they're using in its place is now much stronger giving 1-12 much more depth and staying power. This almost smells like it has a Leather base notes, but I guess it doesn't as theres no Leather note in the notes list. Anyhow, this fragrance is smelling really great and in the vein.of Jacques Bogart Signature, or Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, but its brighter and more citrus-heavy than those offerings. Such a fantastic purchase and for only $10 ?? Its a freakin' STEAL! Im sure that 1-12 may improve even much more Ill be back for an update. ***Initial Thoughts first day*** Smells really great! Bright, green/piney, Citruc/fresh and a bit astringent. Also whatever theyre using as an "OakMoss note" smells really great in the dry-down. Sadly, after that bright and somewhat strong opening the fragrance really dies down quite a bit getting VERY close to the skin, so over-spraying is a must for any decent longevity/sillage. I sorta have the feeling that over-time 1-12 will Maturate and beccme more substantial and gain better performance which seems to happen a lot with these classic-cheapies as Im sure some manufacturers cut costs by cutting the Maceration Process out, so then its up to us the consumer to let the fragrance then Maturate once air is introduced into the bottle which is fine by me bc I find the whole process fascinating tbh. Again tho, a FANTASTIC, classic-Masculine green fragrance which smells great even into the far dry-down and when iver-sprayed actually has decent longevity albeit a bit too soft and close to the skin. Anyways, Im diggin' Halston 1-12!! Heres hoping the lack-luster performance improves over-time bc it smells great! 🤞.

in the 70's when it was time to stop stealing my dads Pierre Cardin and search out a smell of my own in a sea of fragrances i stumbled across this gem. i didn't just like it i loved it. it smelled like..me I've never thought about its composition never could pick out the notes , though Ive always thought it did have a cedar thing going on that was always buried in the ? orangy floral bite of spiciness that engulfs and envelops as it opens around you, many many girls have complimented on my 'smell' over the years and still do, always loved that!,its half the reason for wearing it the other half is though I've searched and found a few great guy scents over the years i have never found one that works as well on ME and my chemistry it smelled great young and unique and still holds it own and I'm glad i don't have to pay $80 a bottle for it these days now you can get about 4 for that nowadays wow what a difference, i do like i am king some similar qualities and so does my wife but as a replacement...hmmm hard to change after 30 years.. still if one came along and blew me away like this did oh so many years ago maybe, this scent also blends so well with the smell of a good leather jacket in the 80's i dumped a bottle on my new motorcycle jacket and it was a whole new level of awesomeness! the new juice is still great a little sharper and spicier than the original the liquid is now green instead of purple like that makes a difference, but i could still bath in it,seriously, ok enough rambling but its hard to stop when its love :) 1/12 forever!

I'll try just about anything at least once. Whether it’s an aldehyde, white floral, "old lady" classic, or a hardcore 80s powerhouse, it all depends on my mood. But sometimes I just want to spray on something easy and go about my day without terrorizing the general public. Halston 1-12 fits the bill for that. The opening immediately reads as "shower fresh." It's clean and anything but sweet. Once the initial soapiness settles, you get a very sharp citrus and pine. Its DNA is similar to classic Polo, but it isn't NEARLY as heavy or domineering. It's effortlessly clean, masculine, and crisp. Any man could easily pull this off. And even if it isn't everyone's favorite, it'd be hard to say you absolutely don't like it. I mean, isn't smelling clean the most basic accomplishment for everyone? If you grew up in the 80s or very early 90s, this will trigger scent memories of what the adults were splashing on in the locker room at the gym. It’s the ultimate "everyman" from my dad's generation. While it definitely leans mature, I like it enough that I just don't care. It’s an inoffensive, easy go-to and makes a good alternative to both heavy spice bombs and the sweet, modern, cupcake-smelling BS of today. You really can't go wrong with 1-12. All that being said, others have mentioned how long this lasts on them. I'd say it lasts for me about 4 hours before it starts fading. My skin does tend to be dry, so that's a big part of it. But for the price, I'm not complaining a bit.

Current formulation review. I had a bottle ~2000 but I remember it feeling very “80s” and I didn’t wear it much at 22/23. Very nice aromatic green scent on the current version. My bottle has changed a good bit in the 6mo &~15% air I’ve pumped in. New it was straight up soapy flowers. Like washing in a tub with spring water in Ireland with early May’s soapiest white flowers in full bloom. With a bar of Irish spring. After settling some it is soapy, but the citrus & pine have come out. So has a light background sweet aromatic musk that settles in after an hour or 2 of soapy citrusy pine. The musk has a bit of projection & if sprayed heavy the dry down smells great and projects some with good longevity . Sprayed lightly the fragrance is floral light & mostly gone after 4-5hrs. Unfortunately this is the definition of cheap cologne. The open smells cheap & smells terrible for 15-20min when sprayed heavy. It’s super versatile for what it is. Great to wear around the house or for quick errands. Layers well with a few other scents I have (ecre noir, eternity edt, Fahrenheit, polo black extreme). This sprayed lightly post Skin bracer after a shave is some kind of drugstore magic. Under $3/oz. I spray this at night at home 3-4 days a week. Scent 7/10 Performance 7/10 Value 10/10 cheaper than the Irish spring soap it smells like

Absolutely LOVE this fragrance! I can't believe that it's such a bargain at $10 this moment. I get the "green notes", lemon, lavender, some jasmine and plenty of pine tree needles and musk. To me, it smells very much like Irish Spring soap, it gives me a feeling of "being clean"...even when I'm not... My friend thinks it smells like he only washed the top part of his body and skipped all the important parts down-under, if you know what i mean, and i think you do. I suppose it does have that slight "dirty, sweaty MAN" smell to it, but that animalic bit makes me feel like I've been hard at work all day. Six to eight sprays makes longevity on my skin about 6 hours, while on my shirt it's about 12 hours. It projects rather well for about 2 hours, so much so that the woman working the fish counter at the grocery store stated that I "smell good". Sillage is rather non-existent, in my experience. I've worn this on hot and cold Southern California days and I find that it's perfectly suited for any weather. If you enjoy smelling "clean", or at least half way clean according to my friend, then there's a very good chance that you'll enjoy this beautiful fragrance that fits in today's wardrobe just as much as it did in the mid 70s upon release.

I still find this every bit as good as I did when I wore it many years ago. This is a CLASSIC scent that is timeless. It's a very fresh, clean fragrance. It has a wonderful soapy smell with the green scents blended so nicely in this. The price is unbelievably reasonable. Dare I say it's cheap? Only in cost. It makes me feel good wearing it. I enjoy it from start to finish. It's a gem in every way. I have to say I like this one much better than its sibling Halston Z14. Definitely a manly scent here. People who have smelled this fragrance on me have always commented in a positive way. I have never gotten any negative comments about the scent and I have some rather blunt friends and acquaintances. Even the ladies tend to comment favorably on this one. Which goes to prove that expensive doesn't equate quality every time. This can be worn day or night. Hot or cool weather, but probably best during Spring, Summer and Fall. I wouldn't hesitate trying this in the Winter. Yes, this is that good. It's a bit old school for sure, but doesn't smell dated at all. This can easily be worn by any age group. Male or female. People who smell it on me really seem to like it. A lot. Halston 1-12 IS blind buy worthy!

I'm trying this for the first time today. I've been looking for something spring friendly that leans green-fresh and is neither too dry nor abrasively masculine. I love this stuff, even though it's very soapy and I often dislike soapy scents. To me, so far, it's a great example of that green-scented Irish-soap kind of cleanliness and, if only because oakmoss is protected now and my formulation is surely very different from vintage ones, I don't find this oppressively masculine. Is it generic? Well, yes, I suppose it is but then the genre is not a hugely popular one these days and anyway I think this is a particularly good example of the type. Is it dated? Maybe--but that's not how I experience it. I'm surprised how much I like it. I don't find it has any old-man sourness or dryness like, say, Polo in the green bottle (which I also love), though you might have to appreciate some of the old-school manly-man scents to enjoy this. This just strikes me as a very nicely blended, inoffensive, rock-solid, clean, green-soapy spring/autumn scent with just enough going on under the surface to make it interesting. The performance is suitably, inoffensively moderate too.

This is a story of two brothers. One of them is very charming, rugged, mainstream and acceptable. The other guy is artistic, misunderstood, rebel and understated. You know this story of I-12 and Z-14 reminds me of one of the most famous siblings in the world. Vincent Van Gogh And Theo. My father is a fanatic of painting, so in my childhood, he would read the book Letters to Theo to me instead of fairytales! And as I began to wear Z 14 and I 12 on regular basis, I naturally associated them to the famous Dutch brothers. I happen to love both of them. My only complain is that glory of Z-14 has over shadowed his elegant brother. Now being in my late 20s, I understand that this would take beating by current generation who cares to smell "fresh" rather than masculine. Can there be any cologne more fresh smelling than Halston I-12? Well atleast not to me. To describe this fragrance, I would just say imagine a fragrance that has essence of Halston Z-14 and Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel. Yeah I know many are frowning now! But thats okay. I will take pleasure in knowing that since this scent is so misunderstood, I wont easily run into a guy wearing this

I saw this for $10 so bought 3 bottles to get as gifts. I already have a bottle but decided to keep one as a back up and also to compare them as I read I had been reformulated. It has, without a question been reformulated. The result is a lot thinner, weaker, less 'gutsy fragrance'. The boxes look similar except for the fact that evernia prunastri (oakmoss) and evernia furfuracia (tree moss) are not listed as ingredients on the new box. Also, Benzophenone 2 ( a UV absorber) is not on the new box, while butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethyl salicylate are new ingredients listed. The first two are something to do with absorbing UV (they are used in sunscreens) and the ethyl salicylate smells like wintergreen. It seems that the Benzophenone 2 was removed as it is not approved for use in US sunscreens as it is a possible hormone disruptor. I am not a chemist, but what I can say is the reformulation is only a shade of the previous version. I would give the old version 8/10, but the new version 6/10.

My wife loves this on me. She don't wear men's fragrances, she prefers more feminine notes, and I agree more lady-like scents works best with her classy and feminine nature. Despite me not loving it myself, I'll wear it occasionally specifically for my her because she enjoys it that much. It's green, soapy, fresh spicy and with loads of kickass oakmoss. Definitely masculine. Although it has an older vibe, nothing "dated" about it. The composition of 1-12 is timeless. It's as relevant today as when it was released in the 1976. Back then it was well ahead of it's time like another timeless classic Azzaro PH. I think 1-12 is the only cologne from the 70's that does not have the typical 70's floral and overly musky notes. The projection for a $10 to $14 fragrance will blow your mind. This bad boy kicks out some serious fumes with just 2-3 sprays. Spray on your shirt and it will last all day easily. Not kidding. I don't think I ever came across a fragrance in this price range with such beastly performance. Amazing juice.

***Final/Final Update from initial spray on 10/39/25*** Yeah, so initially I was extremely dissapointed bc when id first sprayed 1-12 on it wore EXTREMELY thin and was super-fleeting lasting maybe 1 hour on skin and becoming a skin-scent within minutes of application. Well Im very glad to report that 1-12 truely does drastically improve as far as EVERYTHING goes! Lol. The scent becomes much deeper/richer, im getting a good 1 to 1.2 hours of solid projection and it lasts atleast 5 hours on skin and till the following day on clothes. I also wanna guve a shout-out to @SchmealMaynley who'd a few reviews down had suggested layering Halston 1-12 along with Geoffrey Beene's Grey Flannel. The Astringency/Citrus in both fragrances make them marry PERFECTLY together making for a fantastic, nuanced, power-house wear! I find that Grey Flannel is a bit stronger than 1-12 so Id layer 1-12 OVER Grey Flannel doing 2 spritzes of 1-12 to 1 spritz of Grey Flannel wherever you spray. A fantastuc combo indeed!!.. CHEERS!

I concur with all the positive reviews here. I wrote one myself a while back when I bought my first bottle of 1-12 since the 1990s. I bought another one recently and was smitten all over again. Simply awesome ... and proves yet again that a fragrance can have a "cheap formula" and still be ten times better than some Ambroxan bomb that identifies and prices itself as so-called niche. I did learn that at least one of the noses that worked on this fragrance is Max Gavarry (as he did with Z-14); I'm unsure why he's not listed here. Max also was the nose for the original Dolce and Gabanna Pour Homme. When I tried that D&G scent for the very first time it struck me as familiar, and not just because I probably smelled it on many others. Now I know why it was so familiar. That original D&GPH and 1-12 have the same, brilliant dad.

Soapy/barbershop? Yes. Weak? No. I used to wear this starting in the 90s, off and on. Decided to revisit it. The bottle I received late last year smells like what I personally remember from 20 years ago. Still lasts. Great bargain. My friend is a trendy, with-it kind of lady (and I'm the opposite; an average blue-collar guy). I was surprised that she STAYED on my neck when I wore this "old man" 70s scent for the first time around her. She was shocked when I told her what it was. Kinda funny when you think about it. I can't speak to what EA has done to other scents, nor can I speak to the original 1976 formulation of 1-12. What I can speak to is this inexpensive 1-12 of today. It's a gem. Love it. As others have said try before you buy ... but this is a winner in my book.

I bought this blind so that I could have both Halston Z-14 and Halston 1-12. It is a high quality fragrance, though I don't like it as much as its brother. After an opening which smells similar to Z-14 (at least for 30 seconds) it settles into a soapy fragrance which has a touch of sharpness. It is much less animalistic than Z-14 and in fact is rather clean-smelling. The middlenotes are dominated by jasmine which is supported by the rich, diverse array of basenotes. It lasts about half as long as the Z-14 on my skin. It is winter at the moment in Australia and I think come Springtime this will be a great fragrance to wear. The one advantage it has over Z-14 is that it will suit a wider range of temperatures.

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 050 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased June 2017 I don't know what the soaps this is similar to smell like, I'm not in that part of the world where the market imports/distributes/manufactures those soaps. No idea about that. But this is a soapy, clean scent for sure. It's not citrus but herbal powered. If you want a slight powder about you while being soaped up and herbal then for sure take this one. I still haven't smelt anything like it. I could imagine Travolta wearing this while he practiced the choreography for Saturday Night Fever, and on that note you must look up Samurai Night Fever and thank me later. Dumb reach daily and nightly.

Hands down the most iconic men's masterpiece fragrance ever created! So sadly REFORMULATED!!! I have an original bottle from 1976 and it still explodes with menthol-ly, green, bright, boozy masculinity. The new formulation only captures the base notes that would be experienced about an hour in to the fragrance, but in a less opulent way. Halston the man was very talented, and the avant-garde bottle designed by Elsa Peretti is a work of art. It makes me smile to think how much time and passion went into creating this scent. Yes, it is a dated smell that everyone's grandfather and father owned, but still I love wearing it and feel like a real man every time I do.

update ; better start to read from the bottom and then upwards.... it's ok but not as good as his brother Z14... the opening isn't really my thing, after a few minutes it gets better (soapy/green scent) but with this kind of juice i would definitely prefer a edt like quorum... 7/10 UPDATE : bit of a grower for me...it's a nice fresh spring misty morning kinda smell...get out of bed...jeans and T...then step outside...little shiver...then the spring sun shines on you and just the slightest breeze gives you a whif of 1-12....that kinda thing.... 8,5/10 UPDATE : it IS a grower....i now love the opening...mmm getting better all the time....love it ! 9/10

I purchased a vintage 2 oz bottle on eBay for around $13.00. If you were around in the 1970s then you will understand what I mean when I say Halston 1-12 opens up with a scent distinctly reminiscent of Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo. There is a burst of nostalgia. The Brady Bunch popped into my head when I first smelled this. It dries down into a clean scent, but it is impossible to shake the association with Clairol Herbal Essence Shampoo. I loved that stuff. I always thought hair smelled so clean when people shampooed with Herbal Essence Shampoo. I think this could be a more unisex fragrance because it is simply clean smelling. 1970s clean, anyway.

I'm pretty sure that Halston stole Pierre Cardin's girlfriend with this one. Pure mid-70s American 🔥 He probably stole his boyfriend with z14 but that's another review... Possibly the best fragrance bargain that I have at $9/120ml. Layers really well smells great sprayed 6-10x by it's self. Lots of depth, citrus, pine, floral, green, moss, amber notes all come & go with a soapy slightly smoky mossy vibe that connects them all. Inoffensive at low doses & impressive at higher spray counts. The worst someone will think is that you washed your hands and put deodorant on. 🙌 No spiky amberwood 🙌

Z-14 was a go-to in my early college days of 1980-1984, and I loved it (Today, I have an EA Jeff Gordon version and it's very close, so I recommend it). Back in the day, my Z-14 came with a 1-12 bottle, and I remember not preferring it to Z-14. Fast-forward to today when I received my vintage 1 oz. bottle of 1-12 to give it a revisit. I like it very much. It's a clean, green, soapy, barbershop-leaning scent (reminding me just a little of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and a little of V.I.P. Special Reserve by Giorgio Beverly Hills, which is way more expensive and much harder to find).

It was with some hesitations that I recently blindly bought H1-12. Its incredible price was an strong alibi - also, the fact that I still appreciate its brother HZ-14. And now, I 'm tempted to say that H1-12 is, somehow, better than Z-14! It's unpretentious, it's definitely virile and it's pretty much unrecognizable by the crowd. It is surely dated, yes - but in the classic sense of the word. In my humble & honest opinion, 1-12 it's a gem. A must-have for any honourable colector. And nothing less than that. The price vs. quality ratio it's unbelievable. A deserved 8,7/10.

I love Halston 1-12, it's a lush verdant medley of florals, woods, greenery, and untouched forests. There's also a warm soapy undertone with a citrus twist that blends in and works so well. 1-12 feels fresh and clean without being a bodywash or blue fragrance. It's not like most other popular green fragrances and I believe it's that clean soapy note we have to thank for it. A real gem and for the price it's worth stocking up if you enjoy wearing it often. This will always be one of my go to fragrances as it's comforting and thoroughly enjoyable.

Had this now for about 6 months. I bought it together with Z14. This fragrance has really won me over. The opening is spicy and crisp with the pine needle and Cedar..... feels good going on..... an hour later the dry down is smooth and warm.... with a reassuring musk, juniper and citrus combo becoming more pronounced. 1 12 radiates "MAN". I really enjoy this.... more now than Z14. This is underrated and in my humble opinion, best Halston out there. I have had many compliments too. At $20, its outstanding value and deserves more attention.

Really, really delightful. The top opens with the most true-to-life freshly cut Christmas tree scent I've ever smelled in a fragrance. Shortly thereafter, some soapy freshness creeps in, before everything evens-out into something that leaves me smelling like I climbed a big, sticky, pitchy pine tree while wearing a classic fougere. This smells like my childhood, climbing big pines and being scolded for ruining my clothes with pitch stains. Performance may not be great, but you can't turn it down for the price. It's really marvelous.

I just cant believe my nose. Halston was a genius to be sure, and if they had kept Z-14 the way it was, oakmoss and all, it would have remained just as potently wonderful as 1-12. One way or the other, both fragrances are a must for anyone who cares about perfume. Update: I feel like crying, when I put this on, sorry to be so sentimental. Where are the contemporary fragrances that have just a fraction of the integrity of Halston 1-12? And I don't mean your Frederic Malle or Serge Lutens that nobody can really afford. (Sob) 10/10

Bought this blind for my husband and although we both like the initial attack as well as dry-down, it just didn't suit his skin. In an effort to salvage the purchase, I layered it with some tea rose that I had been using as room freshener and really liked the pungent mess which resulted. Yes, I'm THAT person who clears the room and the older I get, the worse it gets. For me, it smells good alone as well as a base for a floral (maybe one not as strong as all out rose) if you find yourself unable to discard it.

after having the vintage 1-12 which i really like i decided to get a current batch of Elizabeth Arden formulation because its so cheap but after i tried i was disappointed . its like they took the vintage version and took out all the oakmoss and richness left a powdery shale of its former self . no longer pleasant and rich but cheap and watered down . that great opening top notes where gone .. i dont agree with the guy who said ( it's a fantastic scent once the bottle ages a bit.) thats crap theres no way

This was my first ever blind online purchase, and a very good one at that. Aroma is a blend of good soapy old-school barber aftershave mixed in with a bit of Polo Sport, maybe a touch of CK Obsession. All good. I'd rate projection as being moderately strong, endurance being 6 hours plus easily. I,ve been complimented already on H1-12. I'd also tried out Z-14 at a drugstore- that came on too strong for my tastes. I would gladly buy another Halston 1-12 when this one runs out.

Indeed, a true green fragrance. Very masculine, piney and it stands it's time, changing according to temperature too, leaving you wondering if you've worn Ea De Grey Flannel - Geoffrey Beene. I sprayed one on each hand and I'll tell you what, 1-12 just about kicks EDGF in lasting & projection, a close encounter I'd say. Very good stuff & uncommon which gives the stand out factor. The bottle is unique too, gives the today's brands an uncontested run in appearance. 8/10 (Y)

After seeing his series on Netflix, I was reminded of this great cologne from the seventies. As it is very cheap nowadays, I decided to buy this blast from the past. Absolutely No regrets at all. A very both fresh, herbal and slightly oriental fragance, soothing and distinguished. Very very nice, for not too hot days. Office safe, perfect for date nights for more sophisticated and mature men. Already bought another bottle for restock this winter. Thank you, Netflix ☺️!

I wore Halston 1-12 daily throughout the spring 2014 and I spent an embarrassing amount of time smelling my arm. It’s rich and resinous, and very, very green. I read cannabis, bergamot, lemon, chamomile, galbanum and basil; a pine and almond heart with violet, jasmine, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, carnation, hyacinth and orange; and, a resinous finish of moss and labdanum with a touch of vanilla, amber, and cedar. It's virile and beautiful--my signature scent.

I got this at Burlington for $10. This is probably the best you can smell for that price. It’s a little offputting to me in the beginning. But after about 30 minutes I can’t help but put my nose underneath my shirt to smell myself. This is also the only fragrance were my dad actually asked what I was wearing, saying I smelled very good. I would go heavy with the sprays. Probably 8 to 12. I would not put a ton underneath your shirt as it can be a little cloying.

amazing frag for the price. a bit dated and overly floral perhaps. smells very close to Dunhill Edition except Halston 1-12 seems to have a bit less animalic and floral notes. i would probably give it the edge over Dunhill Edition. at the price point, around $12 for a full size bottle, it's kind of a must-have. I really enjoy one spray of 1-12 or Edition and then follow up with two sprays of Encre Noire

Very-classic, aromatic fougère with oakmoss/tonka/lavender/citrus blend... and a complex set of green/herbal and woodsy modifiers- absolutely beautiful. I have the vintage with loads of oakmoss- have never smelt the new reformulation, but this one is a treasure in my collection, and supply is still good out there against demand as not enough people know about this fragrance and should, in my opinion.

Very much underappreciated work of art nowadays. This is a very complex and beautiful fragrance that has stood the test of time. I hope it continues to be so widely available, but I'm going to stock up just in case. Halston 1-12 is still one of my favorites and I seem to reach for it more often than my $100+ colognes. There is a certain magic to this overlooked work of art.

Like vintage shaving cream in a freshly watered humid greenhouse (in a good way). Modest projection, longevity depends whether I'm bare-armed or long-sleeved. In summer it might last me a few hours; in winter under a flannel shirt it lingers all day at the edge of detection at arm's length. I'd love to get my hands on a vintage bottle but I can survive with my 2018 batch.

Although vintage Z-14 is Halston:s masterpiece. Their 1-12 is a very pleasing scent perfect for mid-Spring when trees first blossom. Definitely older school but can be pulled off today by more mature dudes. Or younger dudes with a confident personality. Whenever I smell 1-12 it reminds me of a businessman for some reason. Like someone that knows where he's going in life.

Fantastic fragrance! Green, fruity, floral and comforting. Something in there reminds me a bit of those foam banana sweets/candies or a similar banana aroma. Atomiser sucks a bit, all cheap plastic and a bit wonky. That said it's good quality for something so inexpensive and the girls love it. Good sillage, lasts a good 7 hours. A fun classic for pennies. Easy 9/10

vintage bottle is 10 times better then current sold today by ea . vintage starts off very nice and smells really good. current ea frag 2019 ect is crappy not worth buying period . its a total waste of money for a bottle. smells terrible nothing to do with the vintage version which is nice beautiful scent .. z14 vintage is much different then current as well

Beautiful fragrance! If you like Grey Flannel you will probably like 1-12 since they have the same sorta vibe, at least to my nose. I have noticed with my newer bottle I have to up the sprays from 4 or 5 to 6-7 to get the same performance, but it still smells the same as far as I can tell. It's definitely worth the $10-$15 for a 4.2oz bottle.

Here's the thing I've noticed with the newer formulation of 1-12. You either have to be patient use about 25% of the bottle and let it age a year or two or buy a used bottle. Once the bottle gets a little age it really opens up. It's a great scent new but it's a fantastic scent once the bottle ages a bit.

This along with Tom Ford Oud Wood was the best combination I have put together! Oud wood just goes so perfect over the barbershop classic soapy fragrance that is 1-12. This one was left by my father who passed away and will cherish it for a lifetime. Great fragrance for the day in the summer/spring/fall.

This is a classic early 80s barbershop to me. Clean, soapy, masculine, but subtle at the same time. It has sharp green notes, a hit of that lemon-bergamot with basil in the open, pine and lavender with background juniper in the heart, and ambery oakmoss with a clean soapy cedar in the base.

This stuff smells great to me. Some mention it is old-school. Some of the attraction for me may be that my favorite uncle used to wear this when I was a teen in the 70's. I wear it occasionally. I would rate it 8/10.

Layer this Bad Larry with Grey Flannel or spray it on neat, and ignore the naysayers. This is still a fantastic cologne, a classic in fact, that you can get for peanuts and will make you smell manly and clean.

Very popular in the early 1980s. Compared to Z-14, Halston 1-12 is a greener and woodier offering. I cannot comment on the current reformulation. The 1980s scent was strong, long lasting and terrific.

Coming back to write another review after wearing it for a few days. This stuff smells so damn good to me, I could cover myself in head to toe, and I might as well it’s not very strong.

A really masculine woody/spicy fragrance. Lasting power and sillage is great. Loads of character. In my opinion, Z14 is the better scent. 1-14 is old school but a nice fragrance.

My girlfriend reacts more strongly to this than most of if not all of my other fragrances. I love the light, clean, green, soapy thing this has going, and smelling different.

I’ve worn this and z14 for over 40 years. The current version is nice, but is lacking strength and oakmoss concentration of the original. Always buy vintage when possible.
