Halston Sheer

This is an absolute STEAL. Since I am on a very limited budget, I'm constantly searching out "cheap thrills" to get my fragrance fix without breaking the bank... and this was a very pleasant surprise. I'm not familiar with apple blossom as a note, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it is very nice, very wearable, and very affordable. I get a lot of pear from this, and a musky-woodsy-floral background. I can't quite pick out the lilac but you know it's present, if that makes sense. The sandalwood are in smaller doses here and don't warm up the scent that much, which is fine with me as I like it for warmer weather and it's beautiful and fruity without being too light and disappearing from my skin! When I saw that it was called "sheer" I assumed it would be, you know, SHEER. But it's got moderate sillage and the lasting power is fabulous. It's "bright" and happy, carefree and breezy, and a little bit sweet... and despite the simple composition, it's not at all a one-note, flat, boring perfume. At least, not to me. I may be romanticizing it a bit because I'm so thrilled that something inexpensive impressed me so much at first spray... and second... and third. My only complaint is that if you pick the bottle up by its plastic neck, sometimes that plastic will come loose and you could potentially drop your bottle, which would be one hell of a mess to clean up.

I LOVE this perfume. I always get more compliments wearing this perfume than when I wear others and even those perfumes with much higher prices. It last on me all day. I work a 12 hour shift and sometimes when I get off work and greet the family when I get home they tell me I smell good. And I say you can still smell my perfume ? It is sooo fresh and clean. People always ask me what it is I am wearing...I make sure I tell them Halston SHEER. The other Halston, I no longer like at all, even though I used to wear it about 20 years ago.

First of all this is not disco, studio 54, Halston. It's not JCPenney Halston III Halston. This is the Randolph Duke Halson if that gives you a visual of the kind of woman who would buy this. This fragrance IS modern, sheer and friendly. It's an office friendly floral. I had no issues with longevity and sillage. If you see it in passing, it's a safe one to pick up especially if you can get it at a good price. Best worn in the fall & spring. Overall, I am impressed!

Halston Sheer is a lovely, girly, fresh & fruity scent. It's not overwhelmingly or sickly fruity though and manages to strike the right balance between the fruitness and floral notes, making it a very lovely perfume. It's very long-lasting on me and one spray can carry me through the day and night yet it's never overwhelming or heavy, just fresh and sweet smelling. I'm very happy I found out about this perfume and absolutely love it. It's one of my favorites.

Same here. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good this smells for $10. It's worth it, and then some. This is nothing like Halston Woman which has an old strong maw maw smell. This has a light flowery, fruity smell. Actually it doen't smell like a Halston scent at all. The next time I went into Marshall's and saw another bottle for $10, I snatched it up.

I just bought this blindly at winners from the discount table for five bucks! I love it! It is sweet but very floral at first and then settles into a nice comfortable soapy smell, similar to JLo's Glow but maybe not as powdery. So far I really like it, seems to last well too.

A heavy, juicy peach-pear-apple with an underlying sparkling amber once it settles. Not overly complex, very feminine. This stuff LASTS and has massive sillage. Wear it to bed and it dries down to a cozy, jammy musk. Underrated and great value.

it does not stay on my skin:-( I spray it..and can smell it for the first 15 minute or so..then it completely disappears..but I still like it..no silage..can't smell the lilacs either..

Halston does the 90's - and proves it wasn't a patch on the 70's and 80's. Like the music, fashion etc it's pale, sterile, SAFE by comparison. This wouldn't party the night away at Studio 54, it would still drinking fizzy water at a spa. Halston was a masterpiece ( if you want to see what I think of the og, see my Fragram pic 🕺). This is a vaguely fresh, fruity, floral ( the og an altogether different "f" ) . Nothing awful, more body than some of its ilk actually, just nothing new, nothing particular. It came out in 1998 several years into this trend, already done to death. In fact it was 8 years after the sad passing of the legend who, with Elsa Peretti , created such style. I'm kind of glad he wasn't still around. I agree with Anamandy - this insults his memory.

I, too, bought this unsniffed for $9.99 USD and opened it in the car. I had the original Halston 'way back when' and found it more than OK in fall & winter but too spicey for warm weather. This one, on the other hand, is PERFECT for warm weather. Before I looked at the notes here I swear all I smelled was MELONS and was surprised to see sandalwood, pear and musk notes listed. Somehow they combine to make me think of the way packages of frozen melon balls (cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon) smell when you slice them open and they begin to thaw. Very, very refreshing! Lasting power is pretty good, several hours on me. A friend noticed it on me and said she couldn't place the notes but it made her smile.

You can definitely smell the pear in this. I'm surprised there are no citrus notes since I did detect a bit of sourness, which was the saving grace for this fragrance. It does have a very heavy floral note, though, which quickly overpowers the fruity sourness that I find so pleasant. It's an OK fragrance.

Nice. Completely unrelated to the original. I like the lilac & sandalwood together. I like the bottle. I like it.

I have all the Halston's, and this is the only one I wasn't crazy about. I was reminded that I had it sitting in my cabinet for several years unworn now that the apple trees are in bloom in my town. The scent of apple blossoms is very distinctive, and unfortunately despite the claim, there is no apple blossom in this perfume or at least anything approximating it, though I do get the scent of pear. Generally, the perfume comes across as a light and generic fruity floral with not much of a backbone or anything to make it unusual or a standout, just like so many generic fruity florals on the market today. It is not a bad fragrance by any means, but it is sort of insulting to the memory of Halston as the scents he approved were so beautiful. I think if he were alive today, he would probably hate this - a pitfall of licensing your name away with no control over the products being marketed under it. It could be a dumb reach if you don't have anywhere special to go, or a nice scent for a teen, but there are so many better and more interesting options available than to settle on this or for me to be bothered wearing it. I am happy that they at least kept the Elsa Peretti bottle design, though I am disappointed that the juice inside isn't as unique.

My terrible chemistry strikes again! Floral perfumes notoriously go bitter and sour on me. This one is no exception. It started off with a pungent blast of bug spray citrus and has gone downhill from there. It's truly a scrubber but I'm no where I can scrub! Good thing it was only $10 at TJ Maxx. It is going back as soon as possible! EDIT: I washed this off as soon as I could, but it still clung to my wrist. I will say, lasting power is good :) I've also sniffed my wrist a few times since, and the fragrance is mellowing and getting tolerable--I dare say, pretty. It is soapy and slightly musky. An earlier reviewer detected melons, and I would agree--there is a musky, dewy, melon-like quality to what is left of the fragrance. If I try, I can detect a hint of what might be lilac and pear, blended sweetly--maybe thats the blossoms. It is definitely not the heady lilac smell you get in spring flowers. I used two moderate spritzes when I started. I wonder if my heavy handedness was part of the problem? I think I'll still return it (what's left is OK, not wonderful), but I thought I should modify my review a bit.

When I smelled this from the bottle, it smelled like fresh lilacs. I bought it , sprayed it on a sheet and it smelled like fresh lilacs and apple blossom. This morning I finally try it on my self and it`s musk, sandalwood and a dash of pear. No flowers at all :( This is the first time something like this has happened (where the perfume on clothes smells so much different than on my skin) I see the comparison to Glow (it`s quite soapy) I suggest trying this first if you are looking for a fresh floral scent

Pleasant, inoffensive, mild fragrance. Rather generically "perfume" to my nose though. If I use my imagination I can kind of make out pear, and musk is definitely present. As for sandalwood, apple blossom and er, what's it meant to be? Oh yes, lilac. Nope, not really getting any of those. I think this would be very office-safe. It's perfectly nice, and fairly natural-smelling, but never going to set the world on fire. But I suppose there are times when that's what you want.

No no no did not like. One of the few perfumes I got rid of. It is just sooo strong smelling. Reminded me of the 80s designed imposter perfume sprays. Not for me.

After reading the compositions and reviews I thought it was going to be a good daytime/summer fragrance, but it is not. To me this is more of a fall fragrant when everything is more festive with a slight chill in the air. When every other home is pies scented candles. In a way thats what it reminds me of....pies....spiced pumpkin pie!! Bare to mind everyone's body chemistry is different...on me It's deep, woody and sweet. Warm to the point of hot. I smell the pear in the opening, and some kind of floral 10 mins later a spicy,woody note emerges and remains there the rest of the way. On me it smells almost exactly like Givenchy Very Irresistible eau de toilette. The same sweet spicy anise but without the rose. I already have Very Irr. but in case I run out... I now have Halston sheer as a cheaper alternitive. Very long lasting.

I love this for summer to fall wearing. I get lots of compliments on this. Each time I have worn it this summer someone has followed me to ask me what I am wearing or to tell me how much they like it. Only a light spray of this is needed. Not as heavy as the original one but that is ok. I wouldn't want a "sheer" scent to be! I can still smell this on me a few hours later too and it lingers. I spray around my décolletage and behind my neck. Perhaps that is why it follows me... I love the juicy pear in this. It isn't a crisp apple but a slightly spiced one that I get with it. Not quite like a fall pie or candle because there is no cinnamon here. More like a tart. The sandalwood and musk warm it up. Would definitely buy again, even though the bottle is cheap and the cap fell apart.

I enjoyed every drop of this perfume. It’s so nice, clean and comfortable but it’s not as flat and girlish as most of the floral-fruity fragrances. I smelled the juicy pear mostly but this note is very well balanced by the musk, so the scent isn’t too sweet. I can also detect a little sour note in it but this doesn’t bother my sense of smell. Halston Sheer is strong but refreshing fragrance and I find it suitable for spring and summer season. The only thing I don’t like – it’s impossible for me to find it again.

Way better than the original Halston but this is very strong also. Sheer is just possibly a lighter scent than the original but it is strong too! I can't ware this anymore. The memories came and went with this scent and it is now a timecapsule for me. This stuff will get you noticed though.

just got a full size bottle today for 9.99 and I bought it unsniffed and I am quite pleased with this fragrance it is light fruity and soapy. I like the clean smell of a soapy fragrance I wouldn't buy this again but for 10 dollars I couldn't resist this purchase!

A ten dollar surprise. Very soft, original. Smells like a toned down version of Charlie White. There is a faint touch of Jadore in this. Also smells like Rosamor. Update: I pulled out my Brilliant White Diamonds and see a similarity.

Sheer is sheer. It is mild. A floral and fruity with no claw. So safe. Sadly for me this scent that has no experssive note, i was hoping for apple blossom to get, to really notice. But besides its pleasant, i did not blow my mind.

Love Halston! A friend introduced it to me in the 80s and have been wearing it ever since. It is a great signature scent, as I don't often see or smell it anymore. Love the musky/ cedar undertones that are so subtle..

My recent blind buy :) I like it. It is surprisingly soft, I thought it will be more sharp, typical '90 fragrance. Bunch of flowers mixed together in a very nice, subtle way.

Lilac was a bit overwhelming... not my favourite scent even in the garden. But that goes away quickly leaving the woodsy smell, not a great purchase, but wearable.
