Halston Woman

I didn't expect to like this as much as I do! It's a beautiful smooth patchouli fragrance that has nothing to do with the old Halston Classic. Clean, polished patch plays the star role in this composition, but there is also a lot of amber that warms up the scent. With the additions of fresh rose, juicy black currant and iris powder it feels multidimensional. In my opinion this is not as dark and dry as scents like Prada Amber or Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights. They are in the same family, but Halston is creamier and lighter due to the fruity and floral notes. It's heavier than Coco Noir though, I'd say it's somewhere in the middle between these different interpretations of patchouli. It's not a groundbreaking fragrance, but a well-known and loved note profile done very well. I was surprised to see that rose has only a few votes in the notes list, to me it's the third most noticeable note after patchouli and amber, easy to single out even before looking at the list. Marigold is a note that makes me wary, it often smells funky and dirty to my nose. Luckily I can only smell it for a short moment in the opening here, so there was no need to worry about it. I think if you like easy to wear patchoulis you can't really go wrong with this. Halston Woman was once very affordable but starts to get harder to find and more expensive. I think they unfortunately discontinued the newer Halston perfumes from the 2000s and only keep the old version from the 70s around, which is not my thing at all. If I didn't already have many great patchouli fragrances, I might have bought a bottle just now.

Halston Woman is a GORGEOUS amber floral. Enduring, addictive, completely satisying. It’s now at the top of my most-loved scents. Such a great joy when we find our personal gems! I only discovered it recently and immediately went on a mission to stock up since it is discontinued. I have both EDT and EDP, love them both. The balance in Woman is most notable. It’s refined and elegant, with a lightness that is somewhat spiritual for me, especially the EDT, as you would expect. Nothing outweighs or interferes with anything else so that it is very easy to wear as it just becomes part of me. I get exceptional longevity with three sprays. Judging from compliments I receive, it projects well. The EDP is the sweeter of the two, still beautifully balanced, with emphasized base notes, and it leaves more of a trail. Heavenly!

This.....is a perfume. Halston woman opened with a strong, spicy amber blast which scared me at first. I thought "Oh dear, this is going to choke me!" But, it quickly settled down into a warm floral amber which hugged my skin nicely. HW had the feeling of a classic perfume in the opening. The ones that say "I'm a woman, not a girl." However, when it settled, it became more sexy and soft. This perfume had great staying power. The soft woods and florals came through a bit later and, with the spicy amber, just hugged my skin for the whole day. Longevity and silage were great. Just one spray did the job for me. It's 86 degrees today (maybe not the wisest choice). Perhaps I'd need more sprays in winter. Now on to her sister, Halston Woman Amber!

I bought a huge bottle of this for $9.99 at Ross and it was a successful blind buy. I love this stuff. It starts with a strong and nice Patchouli note and fades down to a warm and powdery scent that like other reviewers mentioned, reminds me of bananas or banana flavored candy. Thankfully, on my skin this perfume didn't take any bad turns towards dusty but it is quite powdery, I happen to like that but it might turn some people off. This is probably better for cold weather as it could become cloying in the heat. I am going to stay on the lookout for more dirt cheap bottles of this and stock up while I can!

Acidic bergamot, earthy marigold, and sweet black currant form the opening. This opening overlays the next stage of beautiful jasmine and rose floral notes. These floral notes then float on a base of amber, with touches of sandalwood and patchouli. Each stage overlapping the next. Powdery orris makes for a beautiful drydown. This is gorgeous and womanly. Very impressive for 2009. I love this!

Wow! I really like this. I don't have anything like it. I get amber and tagetes mostly. Tagetes has a austere sweet myrrh/French tarragon aroma that I really like a lot, very unique and classy. This definitely is one of my best, and can be worn any time and for any occasion. I get 8 hours of longevity with a moderate sillage.

This is a sophisticated and beautifully blended perfume. It opens with fresh citrus and then moves to sweet amber with a hint of patchouli and flowers. You only need a couple of sprays for she is powerful. This is a perfume for amber lovers! It is classic and timeless. The packaging is elegant and refined.

Love it. Blackcurrants are a favorite of mine in perfumery. Must love patchouli to enjoy this. I'm a bit anosmic to patch but it's present here.

I cannot believe I found this at TJMaxx for $9(!). I wanted to try this for a while but was afraid to waste money for a blind purchase. I am happy I bought it. It works well my skin, I can smell all notes. I have to say I like it a lot, almost love it, almost :) It smells what the bottle looks like: beautiful, sexy, smooth, cool, clean, modern etc. I honestly do not understand how this beautiful scent received such bad reviews, I think it is quite pleasant. Not very flowery, I do smell smooth currant, all ingridients well blended. It is not sweet(thank God!), black currant sweet is as sweet as it gets. It is very long lasting, one spray is enough and it lasts all day. It becomes more powedery during the day. I can't figure out what other scent it reminds me of... It is one of those fragrances that is noticable and sexy and safe at the same time, very sensual. It smells quite expensive. I just want to sit and smell it all day long. It also brings me back to Dubai, something in it smells a bit arabic to me, maybe the spice, not sure but my mind instantly travels there.

This is nice. It reminds me of a lighter Asja by Fendi. The note profile is similar, but this is sheerer, a little drier thanks to the orris, and easier on the spices and sweetness. I'm not picking up the florals heavy here, though I clearly smell the rose and marigolds. I certainly get no fruit. This is mostly spices and an earthy patchouli, with lots of amber and rose. It seems it will be wearable on all but the hottest days. I put it on this morning, and as we are still in March the day started out very cold. This fragrance is staying nice and light despite the weather getting warmer, humid and rainy. So that's a good thing. I also think this would make a nice base to layer with other fragrances too. I'm curious to see how something like Dior Addict might work with it. Injecting some more florals, sweetness, and vanilla might bring this to a different level, though no doubt heavier and better for cooler weather. Still, it is very nice as is and much better than one would assume from the cheap price. This turned out to be a surprisingly good blind buy.

Oh my, this is lovely. To my nose and on my skin I don't get the strong spices others mention; instead, there's a soft musk, a powdery amber, an echo of tangy marigold and just a bit of chewy/earthy patch. It's one of those finely blended and personal "my skin, only better" fragrances that's just so very, very warm and comfortable. Halston Woman walks that fine line between innocent and sexy, the clean personal scent you sniff on someone's neck when you greet with a hug. Currently available on fleabay for about $8.00 for a 1oz bottle or about $14.00 for 1.7oz on Amazon. Well cheapie that's worth purchasing.

It is avaible as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP. strange, i ve the EDT though !??? i love this smell it's unique and tempting, a sweet sour berry splash on the top mingels with the intriguing smell of tagets, soft and powdery jasmin with a velvety rose towards the middle stage. the flowers keep blooming on skin warmthen up by precious woods and earthy orris on the base. it's a simple perfume but very intriguing, loveable and longlasting! it lingers woody powdery with hints of sweets of berry and flowers for hours, very nice sillage! nice ! bottle very cute!

I’m not sure whether the version I have is vintage or reformulated, nor do I know its concentration. It starts out very promising as a floral mix of jasmine, rose and a little spicy carnation, like a vintage perfume, almost a classic chypre scent. In addition to the soft flowers, it’s just a little soapy at first. Disappointingly, it only lasts 3-5 hours and seems to have no significant base notes. This makes me suspect that it’s a low concentration reformulation. It’s nice while it lasts, but I’d like a little more bang for the buck.

This scent has a real vintage vibe to it for having been launched in 2009. When I first sprayed it on it was yikes. To me it’s in the category of Youth Dew, Interlude and Royal Secret. It was a spicy blast when I first put it on even though it doesn’t list spice in the notes. In less than a minute the woods, amber and balsamic notes appear and the dry down on me is a soft powder amber. I really like it and it’s great in the cool weather.

I cautiously decided to wear this in warm weather and I am glad I did. The amber blasts you at initial spray but quickly dries down to mix with a beautiful lightly sweet blackcurrant and sandalwood. If you are looking for a warm scent that doesn't smack your nose around too much, I would highly recommend this one.

To my nose this reminds me very much of Flowerbomb...anyone else? Not a dupe, but definitely a much cheaper alternative and a very elegant bottle, I must add!

This begins as a spicy unisex fragrance then quickly fades to something more feminine. The jasmine note seems to stand out the best with the marigold and bergamot making up the background. I don't pick up black currant, rose, patchouli, or sandalwood. Nice, but not overly impressive.

I bought this...blind...on Amazon...I had a $5 amazon gift certificate....so I believe I paid like $3.00 for a 1.7 oz spray....free shipping too!!. I own both Halston Amber Woman and Halston Amber Man....I like the Amber Woman, but LOVE Amber Man. I mix them together,sometimes Halston Woman....is an underrated GEM, IMHO. Don't compare it to the original Halston (a masterpiece,IMHO) This silver-bottled beauty stands on it's own. I can slightly see the Flowerbomb connection, but no, not a dupe..at ALL. I am enjoying the marigold note laying underneath the top notes...I get the currant right from the start, then bergamot....jasmine. The rose is...??? Then in the dry-down....orris root/sandalwood/jasmine-ish. The sandalwood is sweeter rather than woody to my nose. All and all....I am really enjoying this. I think I will now seek out the Halston Man in the silver bottle too. I have a tender-spot for Halston scents...the original Halston for women was one of the first perfumes I really "got to know"....due to my Mother's love for it, and it was my Godmother's signature scent forever. Nostalgia, memories...thank you Mr. Halston !!!! I should also add....the long discontinued and HARD to find/afford HALSTON 101 for men....another Halston masterpiece....for sure !!! Wish I had that one today.

Wow, starts as almost masculine/spicy amber and then the marigold comes in. Marigold is one of my favorite notes because it's bittersweet and beautiful. Somehow this stuff cheers me up. It feels herbal, almost as if it included lavender notes, but none are listed. Then a powdery feel develops, not baby powder, just powdery like Clubman Talc. It has a clean barbershop feel without actually being masculine (weird I know). The patchouli smells amazingly natural for the price. It's not obtrusive (but don't go by me because I adore patchouli - never too much patchouli). The dry-down is flowery, but not flowery sweet like mimosa. More like wildflowers. So this futuristic space alien bottle utterly mismatches the scent. If you want to see a bottle that matches, look at the way they package Casswell Massey Elixir of Love. Halston Woman does not smell anything like that; however, the Elixir of Love bottle looks like the bottle this fragrance should have come from. Great cheapie that cheers me up the same way Christian Dior's Dune does. Dry, bittersweet, clean floral. So far no problems with any Halston fragrance despite the dollar store price. Edit 3/30/21 Still love this one. It's so complex. Light but ambery, sheer but rich. So easy to wear. And the bottle has grown on me.

absolute banger how has this not topped the best cheapie list? y'all have been sleeping on this patchouli rose amber...absoloutely a dupe for TF noir de noir absolutely on par with the armaf clone, although that one has a gorgeous bottle the Halston--ugh not so much unfortunately the name is unfortunate too. if this was called black amethyst and came in a better bottle I think it would be in my top 5 for life. I will have to decant this, the juice is WAY too pretty for this fug bottle quick edit: I have smelled the amber Halston as well and I find them very different. woman is way heavier/thicker/balsamic to me. this is the night version to me so YMMV

Halston Woman Halston is a very light & sheer scent with a soft spicy black currant, jasmine, powdery amber & nice daytime style scent for Spring. My bottle was purchased 2021 & wears close to skin & lasts 5-6 hours. I need to see what I can layer this with, for more body. I see this scent as the daytime version & Halston Amber Woman as the evening version of DNA's that complement each other well. Update: This scent is in the same family & style of jasmine-y scents as Sofia by Sofia Vergara, but with an added dose of amber & incense in the background. These are very enjoyable to wear & easy reach everyday types of fragrances.

I was Really disappointed with this, when I read that this was like the original Halston updated for today,I was Really Exited and couldn't wait to get it, as the Original was So Good!! But sadly this wasn't the case,not even a smiggen of the original...just a mish-mash of sweet bananaish powdery blah...every time I sniffed my arm I tried convincing myself give it a chance something wonderful is bound to happen!............I'm still waiting and nothing good is happening!! I guess I'll just stick to the alcohol-free Halston cologne which is very nice,...Beautiful bottle though.

If you like Clinique's Aromatics Elixir, you will like this. I could name a few others it reminds me of. The sweetness will remind you of Flowerbomb, but, this, in turn, is Women's SPICE Bomb. Lovely tho, not dirty or screechy at all. It is a bit powdery, which I am not a huge fan of, but this one is done well. I wish I got the banana, but I do not, I hope to!!! I LOVE Banana fragrances. I would say, if you sprayed a spray of Flowerbomb on top of a spray of AE, you would get pretty much this same scent. BUT, This is So inexpensive, WHY would you do that? ;)

I have smelled the prototype of the fragrance and was not impressed at all. This scent, though, made me go OMG !!! It is definitely sweet feminine fragrance so much more sexier than halston classic. The citrus is completely lost on me, but the flowers!!! They keep on "blooming" all way thru drydown and leave the summery sensation of a flower garden of roses and jasmine and a whole bouquet of something sweet smelling and yammie. I am really happy I did try and HAVE this one. Amazingly it stays on my skin for more than 8 hours!!!

This is a great "cheapie" ! Never smelled or had seen this before! I got a small 1 oz bottle at Marshalls/Ross/TJ Maxx for under $10.00 The bottle itself is nice too! Ignoring the notes -- this has a "powdery purple wine" vibe going on. It's soft. It's casual. Smells more expensive that it really is. It sits close to the skin after a half hour (like 90% of all cheapies) . If you're in the store and feel the need for a "blind buy" to spark up your day-- I'd buy THIS over any lame "celebrity" fragrance - that's for sure!!

Impression on first wearing, the word "creamy" keeps coming to mind. This one is rather elusive for me, becomes close to the skin pretty early on. It's nice enough but I wish it wasn't so wispy. I get some of that sheer peek-a-boo quality from Halston Amber Woman also. Less wispy for me with warmer weather. Though I realize most people like this for Autumn and Winter I might have to add it to my warmer weather rotation!

I'm not a massive fan of patchouli tbh..but after the initial hit of patchouli this becomes a gorgeously soft & round scent..not overpowering, but noticeable. Yes I get the "banana" thing too but not in a sweet sickly way at all..it just makes it interesting in a "I know that smell from somewhere" way. I bought this as a blind buy from Allbeauty (at £6.00 it would have been rude not to!!) and quite glad I did.

Yes, you nailed it, Grottola. Powdery banana chypre. You will eat your sample paper (banana) and feel some distance (chypre). After the skin test I was jumping around for one hour to celebrate a new found gem but then, a big disappointment. The scent develops into something very ugly on my skin. Something between chypre and cheap drugstore stuff. So sad.

SUBLIME!!!! The very best scent ever. Very Earthy and only Earthy Women can get away with this scent. Super Sandalwood Scent. Reminds me of Church Incense. When I was growing up, when I was in Catholic Church, they would burn incense before service, this is exactly how it smelled. Just DIVINE!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very similar to Prada Amber for women, I'd say more so than Jessica Simpsons's Fancy Nights. Bottle is beautiful and feels very comfortable in your hand, easy to spray with one hand. Lasts long and is dirt cheap! (Halston Woman Amber however, in the gold bottle, bears no similarity to Prada Amber.)

It seems as though this is a really variable fragrance depending who wears it. For me it has the scent of floral gums, without the sugar, on a base of violet talc. I was really liking this until a note I'm big sure on ( some kind of musk) comes in and makes it smell like fuzzy dust on top.

Epic fail. At least for women. I spray it on my boyfriend. This is a barbershop scent that brings to mind Old Spice, in the way that Diamonds and Rubies does. Drydown gets better,sort of like Estee Lauder Private Collection. The bottle is a work of art though. Like a Koons sculpture.

This is really nice - musky and warm. There's something in it that reminds me of Agent Provocateur's Strip or Vivienne Westwood's Let It Rock yet it is milder than those. That said, if you're a fan of the AP or VW then you'll like this reinterpreted Halston. Great bottle too.

SMOKEY AMBER!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!! This is a very Mature scent. It’s along the lines of Correges Empriente. This is a Salt Of The Earth kind of Scent. Not Fruity or Fresh. Just Earth. It’s my kind of scent.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I bought both Halston Man and Halston Woman. On me, Halston Woman is the clear winner. A female friend of mine tried it and on her it fell flat!

Powdery banana chypre. Unique, but not something I'd wear. However, if you want something that smells like bananas, here's your calling.

This gives your favorite outfits an occasional VPL (visible panty-line) But don't worry, that makes you only more attractive.

I can only imagine how many of those bottles had to be retrieved from a human cavity using a pair of tongs.
