Woman Amber

Wow! This is an uncompromising fragrance. Rather than being warm this stuff is positively hot! An aggressive amber, softened and feminized with floral notes but lets get it right, this is a hearty, balmy resin fragrance. It's almost syrup-like intensity opening with a spiced oriental feel and a puff of powder. It's got a bit of the old style straight benzoin, Bain de Caron thing coupled with a dressier tuberose, which is prominent in the opening and fading into the dry down but for me providing a great compliment for the amber accord. Tuberose is one of those love/hate things for me but in this I just get the good stuff. The sweet sharpness is more like labdanum than olibanum but either way it's prominent throughout...another thing I like. There's a creaminess of sandalwood in here too, maybe coming out more on my skin and conspiring with the amber accord again to intoxicate. I see this as a floriental fragrance which I can understand some people considering to be unisex and frankly I could pull it off. Having said this it reminds me so fully of a confident, sexy, more mature woman sort of vibe? For this association in my mind I couldn't wear it but be damned sure I'd be attracted to a woman wearing it. It's a bit naughtier than the kind of scent your mum might wear, I like to think more of a liberated cougar type rocking Halston Amber Woman. It's no joke performance wise too...goes on nice and strong, doesn't last excessively long but projects really well for a good couple of hours before retreating to a low skin scent. Update: My girlfriend has been wearing samples of this the past few days and it comes across very tuberosy on her especially at first.

Received this in the mail today and am so happy with yet another gorgeous fragrance from Halston. Now I own almost all the flankers (except Couture) and I love almost all of them (except Sheer) just as much as the original version. Despite being the wrong time of year to wear, especially on this hot day, I couldn't contain myself, (I know you've been there too :-), and found it a perfect much-needed break from all the florals I've been wearing lately. As soon as I sprayed it on it strongly reminded me of another big love of mine, Secret Obsession by Calvin Klein. Both are spicy, ambery tuberose scents. Here it differs from the plum opening of SO with a tart berry and mandarin orange opening, but it shares the spices, tuberose, rose, amber, and silky sandalwood. This is not as woody as that scent though, and is a little sheerer, which could be because it's an edt., but they are still remarkably alike. I'd love to try an edp of this scent but not sure if the high price would justify what might only be minor differences. Besides, I've had it on for hours now and it is still going strong, so longevity isn't an issue, nor is silage as I could easily smell it around me. And despite the note profile, it is not heavy at all. Like SO I think this will make a great layering fragrance too. I was actually considering getting a back-up bottle of SO but no longer feel the need as this is very similar and satisfies me just as much as that does.

A FRAGRANCE FOR THE QUEEN OF YOUR LIFE [short review] Everybody knows that women use perfume mainly to please themselves, while men use perfume to please women. For women who would like to read a male simple opinion about this fragrance, here it goes: "Halston Woman Amber is a very seductive perfume." It's a sweet amber floral fragrance that reminds me of the much more expensive "Elixir des Merveilles" by Hermès. The Hermès fragrance is a little lighter but has the same sweetness and warmth in the development's heart. Halston Perfume essentially opens with fruity-sweet aldehydes, develops with very strong notes of amber and tuberose that seem to last forever, and adds frankincense, sandalwood, and suede to the base. The performance? It's comfortably above average! Any woman who wears this fragrance will certainly become more sensual and powerful. The scent works like a magnet that attracts me. I have never let my wife run out of this precious liquid jewel. I always have a spare bottle for her in my closet. It simply makes me love my wife even more and better. I hope you enjoy it! P.S. - Can men use it as well? Why not? If you love "Halston Man Amber" as I do, this fragrance is a little more floral and leatherier but gives you the same type of scent, without being a clone of its male brother. As far as I’m concerned, this is just about perfect. Based on reviews, I blind bought the EDT. I’ve made some really great blind buys based on reviews here, and as many have pointed out, thoughtful negative reviews are as helpful as the positive ones. The EDT is beautiful and I fell in love with it, but I always crave longevity that borders on indecency. Halston Woman Amber is definitely no longer a bargain since it’s discontinued. The EDT was pricey especially for a 1.7 oz bottle, but I just wanted more oomph. To my great delight, I found a 100 ml EDP in a sealed box and am so glad I spent all my lunch money to buy it! It’s exactly what I wanted it to be. This is one of my favorite perfumes EVER. It’s quite different from my other ambers and spicy ambers, more fruit, less powder, and not so heavy on the patchouli (I adore powder and patchouli, but sometimes I also love balance). I got the longevity and sillage I wanted with the EDP. If I had to choose, I’m glad it was discontinued in all its stunning beauty instead of being maddeningly diluted by multiple reformulations first.

I have the EDT version, I found it while scrounging around the clearance section at my local Marshalls. Sometimes it's fun to drink an abundance of espresso and then scour the clearance racks on all fours like a starving coyote who subsists on bargains. This find, with a patina of multiple clearance stickers on its shiny box, was $5.99. It was worth any judgmental side glances from other shoppers who were not as dedicated to the cause of thriftiness. In the beginning, it is aldehydes and tuberose over a dry, resinous amber. The aldehydes are an interesting contrast to the amber that I don't think I've encountered before. As it dries, it gets denser and deeper with musk and woods, nearly drowning the tuberose while the aldehydes lose their sparkle. It finishes a deep, brassy, musky-woodsy-spicy amber. I'm really enjoying it. My EDT bottle has some serious lasting power as well--it lasted until I showered the next day and there is still some clinging to my robe from when I first sprayed it a week ago.

Oh, this blind buy wildly exceeds my expectations, which were pretty high anyway, as Halston Classic for Women is on my top shelf. I thought that the gold bottle might be tacky, but rather than resembling a third prize trophy from school days long gone, it could be a small golden sculpture brought home from a more exotic place than mine. Mind you, it could also tarnish pretty badly. Might keep it in the box. Be warned though, this is a powerhouse. Huge silage and great longevity. This is a stay at home scent for me. Australians aren’t big on big fragrances. Their loss. I don’t smell any Tuberose, which normally dwarfs other notes on my skin. Halston Woman Amber is all spices with subtle citrus and rose on me. It is underpriced IMO and a hidden gem. I think that in very small doses it will layer well with other orientals, florientals and florals. Looking forward to that. Edit - I just discovered that my bottle leaks like a seive from the join at the base of the neck. Has anyone else had this problem?

There are not many perfumes these days that really perform well, but this one impresses. I find myself scratching my head because it is complex, spicy , slightly sweet ( vanilla ) and has a real presence . The formula is beautiful , has sillage, and lasts all day on my clothes. So I ask , if this cheapie can smell so expensive and last all day , then why can’t other perfumes from the famous houses do the same things ? Don’t overlook this one. And the low price is not an indicator of quality . I sprayed some while standing in my closet and can smell it two days later . How many perfumes have I sprayed and then found them to be ghosts after two hours ? Most of them, and many of them cost close to $100 , or more. Price does not garauntee great quality , nor does the fancy bottle or celebrity who struts around wearing the scent in an evening gown. I love this one and find it perfect for cooler weather, though I wear scents I like whenever I feel like it .

Mine is the EdP. Unlike another reviewer, I would say that if you are buying this as a substitute for Ambre Sultan you are going to be disappointed, because it's not a heavy amber, nor does it have the herbal element of AS. Instead, I'd say it's closer to scents like Club de Nuit Intense by Armaf (the "feminine") and Enchanted Forest. It's not as strong as those and it's a bit more powdery, but of course for the current prices it's an excellent deal for those who are seeking this kind of scent. If you already have one of the other two, this might not meet your standards, of course, but in the case of an expensive scent like EF, this might be good to use so that you don't use up your EF bottle too quickly. Longevity is excellent and projection is good, but I'm not sure I would say very good (I used one full spray to the chest).

How many ways can I say that I love this perfume? It is like they poured romance, mystery and longing into a bottle. I already loved Halston Classic, now I truly love this as well. The opening is a hit of amber right across my face.. and I liked it. I knew something good was coming. The balsam and the woods are coming thru in beautiful bold layers but mostly this perfume for me is a bout the beautiful smoke and how they got it into a bottle.... And when you think it has tossed you on your head and messed with you until you can't get up... here comes the leather, musk and sandalwood. If I had one word for this perfume, and if you are into orientals, my word would be Haunting... Love this perfume. Lasts about 5-6 hours or longer on me and silage is a very sexy arms length.

The days have grown cooler, the trees are turning yellow, orange, and red, and there is a delicate smell of smoke in the air. It is this scent that came through to me, and more, when I sprayed on this fragrance this morning - smoky amber incense. I am totally in love! I bought Amber Woman a few years ago, a blind buy because it was inexpensive, and did not like it at the time. Now... everything has changed. It works on my skin. Five hours later I can still smell it on my wrists. I am still learning the scent and am not as sensitive to its fruity and floral notes. Suede? Perhaps I just don't recognize this note yet. I love that it is not too sweet. Learning that it has been discontinued, I popped right over to ebay and bought myself another bottle!

Love at first sniff! A really superb blind buy. It reminds a bit of Givenchy Organza Indecence (very different from Organza), but when hot it also has notes from Sun di Gioja, that hot cotton/hot iron smell, and a hint of warm smooth spice, like cinnamon. Warm, slightly sweet, but not sugary, amber with a touch of dark richness, slight spice. I don't get rose or tuberose, though I suspect the tuberose it what's adding to the creamy depth and richness. I definitely get musks and aldehydes, it's well rounded and warm, but clean. Very good sillage. Fab. Basically a clean amber. Must buy another bottle in case I use this one up 😄

Baroquely, psychedelically lush – this is viewing the world through liquid amber. Opulence, deeply rich plum-coloured velvet and damasque drapes, lace adorning cuffs and necklines, plush, fat cushions on dark wood furniture; candles lit in candelabra; over-flowing wine goblets and dishes piled high with game and fruits. Like stepping into a painting by Rubens, Rembrandt, Velazquez or Gentileschi, or possibly one of the more colour-drenched scenes in Psych-Out or The Trip. A golden, veritable feast of a scent. Approach with caution if you want something light and floral as this will take you elsewhere.

This is an absolutely beautiful fragrance. I have the EDT. Of course the main note is a warm, fragrant amber, sweetness from the sandalwood and red berries gives this fragrance an exotic feel almost the scent of oud. In fact I sprayed Halston Amber on one arm and 5th Avenue Royale on the other and there was a definite similarity, however 5th Avenue Royale is a bit sweeter and Halston Amber is a bit warmer and richer. You just cannot beat this fragrance for the price! Decent longevity and sillage too. If you are looking for an exotic fragrance at a bargain price, look no further, it's right here!!

This is one of those perfumes that you spray on while sampling your perfumes and don't think a lot about it but and hour later you are doing something else and think to yourself "wow what smells so incredible?" I get a powdery feel from it although others don't. Maybe because I'm always looking for that characteristic (I'm a fan of powdery scents.) Amber often dries down to an expensive powder smell on my skin. This does not smell like Caesar's Woman but I get the same experience from it. It is a "bargain price" fragrance with a high dollar style. HWA is a beautiful perfume for a small price tag!

I love this one. It almost gives off a soapy vibe although it's clearly still a deep amber. It has the smoothest spice notes, some floral and some sweetness. Powder wouldn't be the first thing on my mind but I guess, yeah, a little powdery. I think a guy could pull this off but I would say it's more on the feminine side, more so than even Halston Classic. I would recommend Woman Amber if you like incense or spice fragrances. If you're into Shalimar, Samsara, Nu, Hypnotic Poison, those refined, rich and smooth types, you'll probably like this one. It's stunning in my opinion.

I thought I was a little over spicy perfume, but this stuff is swoon-worthy! I can think of many similar things to this but it's like a better version of each. Definitely agree with the comparisons to Youth Dew Amber Nude, but this amber is sweeter and the pop fizz is more noticeable. It has a little Dr. Pepper vibe like Jeanne Arthes Love Generation Rock. Secret Obsession could be a sister scent as well, but this is heavier. I get a tiny bit of Old Spice under everything which is fun. Seriously. If you like any of the fragrances mentioned in this thread, snag this up.

@ Dante11 Only know the EDP edition. I never saw an EDT version. Side male opinion: I know that women wear perfumes mostly to please themselves (men wear perfumes to please their ladies). For those ladies who would like to read one male opinion, here it goes: Halston Amber for women it's a fantastic sexy EDP. Any women wearing this, becomes more sensual and powerful. It works like a magnet atracting me. I never let my wife to run out of tyhis precious gem. I always have a backup bottle for her. It really makes me to love my wife even more (and better). Enjoy!

I am enjoying this so much. I will be making a huge dent in this 1.7 oz bottle this winter. It’s just so warm and cozy. I sprayed on my coat a couple of days ago, put on today and it smells amazing! I love this in every stage. It’s spicy and rich. I wouldn’t mind if it were stronger. I will need to see if there is a body cream because I want to drench myself in this! Whatever this genre is, it’s doing it for me in this 20 degree weather. It’s my first amber fragrance. I have spent a lot more and received much less than this $10 gem

Woman Amber by Halston is a complete 180 degree love for me ❤️ Because it is so beautiful; hence it has immediately become a firm favourite of mine. Amber Woman is a very smooth, creamy, oriental with lush tuberose, rose, redcurrant and amber underpinned by Olibanum, Sandalwood, Suede, Musk and mystical aldehydes which gives this a distinct difference from other Amber's out there, around the same price range. And the bottle even has curves just like me! 😉 Which I adore..This scent truly is and underrated gem in my book.

I have recently discovered this scent in my never ending search for a signature "incense-y" scent. I have found it! My search is over! I love this smoky, sultry, sexy, SPICY scent! I feel mysterious when I wear this! It's present, but it's not overpowering like so many others in this class. I hope they are not discontinuing it because it's available everywhere now for cheap! Too bad I only just discovered it now or I'd have been wearing it for years!

I am IN LOVE with this fragrance, sweet and spicy and sensual, almost masculine. I only know of 1 place to purchase and it is approx $150/50ml but I am seriously thinking to take the plunge. I seem to skip the opening notes and go straight into the middle, a sweet amber and rose opening with spicy musky suede finish.. Oooh so captivating. Maybe I can settle down and accept my Visit by Azzaro.. we shall see...

Amber and frankincense heaven! This opens with some fruity red currant and citrusy aldehydes and then it's just the most wonderful spicy, smoky, balsamic, and woody amber and incense. I completely agree with others who compared this to Pierre Balmain Ambre Gris. They do share a very similar vibe. This is one of the best blind buys ever. Absolutely beautiful and so affordable!

Update from my previous review back in 2019: Today I finally get the men’s version and I love it! Buuuutttt......... I need to said that the woman’s version is way stronger ! Definitely the share some similarities but now I get more the feminine side on this one! But at the same time still unisex!.

I didn't realize there was both EdT and EdP offered until I read in the reviews--I have the EdT and I love it. Now I must try to find the EdP. I will update and compare, if I'm able! update: EdP is more intense, but much the same scent.

I wish there were a separate listing for both the EDP and EDT. As far as I can tell, the EDP is far more expensive than the EDT. I love the EDT but am wondering if the EDP is better with projection and lasting power?

This is a really gorgeous amber fragrance. Amber, balsamic, musk, and a soft powder and wood dry down. I have the edt and it’s very long lasting. A real inexpensive gem that’s a love for me.

Sweetest Amber...and lasts forever!:)

For the longest time, I couldn't really smell much of anything with Amber Woman. Again, a recommendation, and subsequent blind buy - I'll be it inexpensive, and the bottle really is the cutest little thing! But still, I wetted my skin with the stuff, and nothing. Last night I did a final hail Mary before chucking it into the give away box, and there it was. It finally woke up, and boy is it pretty! This was told me to be the "purest form of amber", and immediate curiosity consumed me. How could there be such a thing? Amber, as a synthetic molecule, has been a subjective suggestion at best, from every formulator that I'm aware of. It's like the music industry, eventually they'll make a Christmas album. They'll all try to make that sound their own, most times over the very same song, and that is amber to me. So who knows what the "purest amber" accord is anyway? What Amber Woman does smell of to me is a smoldering stick of incense when I wear it at night. Yes, the infamous incense, that homogenized scent that seems to reemerge every 20 years or so. Sure, you can purchase different 'scents' at your local hippy hobble, but they'll all end up smelling the same, with their musky, woody, slightly herbaceous essence. I find comfort in that, the same way people find the taste of a Big Mac dependable, no matter when, or where they go. During the day time hours this projects more aldehydic in nature, both strong in sandalwood and surefooted olibanum musk. I enjoy the changes that seem present throughout the day, as if the perfume knows its place, and adapts accordingly, like a dimmer on a light switch. Tuberose and rose are dusty whispers, and notes of mandarin or red currant even more so. I like the nod to a suede component, although I am unsure if that is an olfactory production, or an emotional connection. For this has a strong tone of casual softness about it that mimics the texture of softened hide, as well as its flexibility. As far as a purely amber scent, well, I better leave that to the wearer's interpretation. Personally, I feel this is a warm, soft, without being powdery, woody addition to my fall and winter's collection. Unbelievably fair pricing, and versatility, puts this in the category of great starter ambers or orientals. And if you are lucky enough to experience that incense note, then you have just hit pay-dirt, because that's just a little piece heaven!

Talk about a bang for your buck! This really is quite an extraordinary fragrance. The price truly belies the quality, not only because of the fragrance itself, but also for it's performance. Right now I have this on one wrist and Prada Amber on the other. The Prada isn't as full-bodied as the Halston, which isn't a criticism, just a difference. The Halston has a bit of a tang when first applied, courtesy of the citrus and red berry. This eventually gives way to a creamy amber and sandalwood with a very slight hint of something "piney", which I attribute to the olibanum. It's an aspect of frankincense, and here it adds a freshness to cut through the headiness. It definitely outperforms the Prada, with better projection and longevity. You do not need a lot in order to detect it, so go lightly, unless you really want to make an entrance! The Prada is much more delicate and close to the skin, and that is a quality many people appreciate in a perfume. There was no particular reason why I chose Prada Amber as my comparison scent. It just happened to be in my line of sight. I have many other resinous, oriental fragrances that this could be compared to, and I'm confident to say that while there are others that I may prefer, there are no others that are as good as this is in the same price range. Right now, I have it as a Like, but it's a strong Like. If you are a fan of these types of fragrances, I recommend you give this one a go. I think that given it's cost, it's a safe blind buy if you're partial to cozy amber perfumes.

This starts out as a typical warm amber with a splash of mandarin. The red currant is unfortunately not noticeable to me, just some fresh tart citrus. Aldehydes are typically a top note, but in Halston Amber I can only smell them after about an hour. That's when the scent starts to change. It cools down considerably and becomes more unique. In the drydown a nice contrast to the balsamic amber unfolds due to the cold incense and suede notes. I can also sense a hint of rose and musk that make the scent feel more feminine and polished, but they're very subdued. The mandarin moves to the background at this point. After it has dried down the scent retains a certain lightness. This is not a super heavy, sweet oriental amber that cuts through the winter air and becomes smothering in summer, it's more of an allrounder with a dry and resinous texture that could be worn anytime. I personally like my ambers creamier and sweeter than this, but for those who prefer drier fragrances, Halston Amber is definitely a nice choice. It's quite affordable and feels more expensive than it is.

This is all woman. No hint of a girl. Ambery soft woods. I could smell the perfume before I even opened the box! Halston Woman EDP and Amber EDP are bold, not shy. Halston Woman Amber is more woody and less floral than her sister Halston Woman. However, both are strong on the amber and not particularly frilly, fruity nor floral. I don't really smell the aldehydes. These perfumes can easily wear the wearer. I only need 1 spray (and I'm an over sprayer). Granted, it's 86 degrees today. Perhaps I'll need more sprays in winter. This perfume is excellent value for money. Do not be dissuaded by the initial burst of strong amber in both Halston Woman EDP. They quickly settle down into something sexy and beautiful. The woody spicy amber stays in this one and smoulders for the entire day. Longevity and silage are ginormous. Of the two, I'd say HWAmber is more unisex but still mostly feminine. Update: Halston Amber Woman is best suited for winter. In warmer weather, it becomes too sweet and suffocating.

This is a beautiful fragrance! The amber, sandalwood, suede, musk and aldehydes are all there and ... it's just a beautiful full bodied strong spicey musky ambery fragrance that I've never had or smelled. This is not a scent to wear to work. Personally, I only need one spray and I'm done. The projection is massive!!! The longevity is boss! Reminds me of walking in the snow in NYC with my husband and we stop to hug so we can get warm. LOL! The smells of sweet pine, candied and caramel apples and chestnuts roasting from the vendors on the sidewalks. Strong smells of clove and all spice to make apple pies. Peeping in the store windows to view the holiday animations and drinking hot spicey applecider cinnamon and hot cocoa. Yes this scent just took me back some decades ago! It is very spicey and strong, but also very beautiful in a feminine way. Would not suggest a blind buy for this scent. As stated, it's very spicey.

I don't know what's happened to my nose, but I bought this a few years ago when I heard what a bargain gem it was. When I finally tried it....ehh, not for me. I thought it smelled OK, but seemed rather masculine, overpowering and just not "me". I never got rid of it though, and fast forward to a few years later, I decided to try it again. Now, I love this juice! I'm smelling all kinds of notes and nuances that I didn't before. Maybe it's due to maceration, maybe my nose has matured, it doesn't matter, but this is a fruity, amber-y, floral, balsamic, resinous beauty. I am already thinking of all kinds of layering options with this, when I feel like mixing things up. I didn't realize it has been discontinued. Back then, I paid around $30 for this, now the prices have skyrocketed, so feel very fortunate that I have a 100 ml EDP of this in my collection.

For the first hour this perfume is almost overwhelmingly sweet on my skin, but once the top notes have faded it mellows to a warm, woody, spicy scent. I usually avoid perfumes that contain sandalwood because I find often find that it dominates all other notes, but that's not the case here. Sandalwood is a weighty note and works perfectly against the sweetness here. My boyfriend adores this perfume and thinks it is very elegant and sophisticated. It reminds me very much of Hermes' Elixir Des Merveilles, which is a lighter fragrance, but has the same sweetness and warmth at the heart. I've only just acquired my first bottle of this fragrance, so may well update this review in month or so, but for now it gets the thumbs up from me!

Woah, I got this today, one of my bargain ambers, and it was not at all what I expected. You read the notes, you read reviews, you think, hmm, I know what amber scents smell like. Okay, I didn't really notice that the description also said "fresh" and "aldehydic" because what do those have to do with amber? And they were way down at the bottom of the list. In any case, the initial blast of this is fresh, soapy, aldehydic tuberose! After about 15 minutes the aldehydes are fading and amber is warming up, but the tuberose is still the central character in this fragrance. I'm picking up the frankincense note too. While not the amber I was expecting, I'm enjoying the unique blend of notes.

I don't have thirsty or dry skin. I purchased my edp from Amazon Dec. 2018. I get no spice, no cola (ie, no incense). Projection is minimal. Longevity is at least 5 hours, but it's a skin scent after not too long. Amber in the base, fruity red note in the top. No aldehydes, no mandarin, no rose or tuberose (so sad about that) no suede. Maybe musk, but who can tell with the amber (vanilla/labdanum) thing going on? Nice, not phenomenal, safe, cheap blind buy if you aren't picky and aren't expecting avant garde, haute couture olfactory art.

this starts with mandarin orange, amber and berries, i believe. it's pretty, and stays pretty linear, though i get some more depth with a noticeable olibanum and suede later on. this is a sensuous amber floral oriental. really warm and you can't go wrong with this kind of perfume, in my opinion.

Upon first spray, the first 15 minutes of Woman was unbearable; all I could smell was a masculine concoction of spice and amber. Nothing in this juice screamed "Woman" at me. I was actually about to give this to my husband. After sitting around, disappointed that this scent didn't work out for me, I noticed that the dry down was creamy and sweet. There was still a hint of spice, but not as unbearable as before. I was expecting a lot more from this fragrance, but maybe I have to give it another chance. The only thing is I don't reach for it often and when I do I am always a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this smells very sensual and the amber is the best part of this fragrance. But I don't smell anything unique in Woman Amber, plus I have to douse myself in this to get the sillage I want from the dry down and that means suffering through the first 15 minutes again. It was a cheapie so I am not all that upset that I have to bathe in it. It's worth a try though!

This is an amber BOMB. I am not sure how I feel about this one. In my opinion it can be a very cloying scent. I am still trying to figure out the best way to use this one. I think that layering it with other scents that do not have amber is best. I am looking for the perfect combo, if anyone has suggestions please let me know. It is very 'warm' and I can see this being best suited for extremely cold weather. It is impressive how powerful it is for such a low price. Kudos to the creators.

The dry down smells really lovely. I was looking for a frankincense note and it develops later. I did not like the opening of this perfume. There’s something foodlike, but kind of salty, not sweet, which is not appealing. But now after a couple hours it really smells great. I’ll keep trying it.

I bought this as a blind buy off of eBay. The seller was getting rid of what seemed her whole perfume collection. I bought her Halston Amber duo...the big, jagundo bottle and the smaller size. She swore she had sprayed each only a couple times. She was also selling her whole Al-Rehab collection for a pittance. I bit and bought all of it. Well, upon receipt I realized she had sold me her whole collection of AMBER scented fragrances. Talk about powerhouses!!!!! Now I realized why she was selling them all at a cut rate price! One spray of Halston Amber and I thought, "Mistake! HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!" I waited. Still that one little spritz waifed all around me...not yet headache inducing, but on the brink. I went to my hubby and said, "Gimme your wrist" and spritzed him. Arrrggghhhh! was his response. Wait, not is all lost. I scrubbed my wrist 3 times and so did hubby. Nothing, still as strong as ever. So we resigned oursselves to either waiting till it wore off naturally and hid away in our home until it did...or break out the creme bruulee torch and burn it off! This all transpired from about 5pm until we retired at 10pm that evening. The next morning my hubby said, "Have you taken a whiff of your wrist?" Yes, I had. The day before's powerhouse, borderline headache inducing, wanna scorch your skin off fragrance had turned into something truly lady lovely...and macho man approved. Cut to my hubby nabbing one of those two bottles I purchased from that eBay seller I had previously been shaking my fist at unbeknownst to her. She received positive feedback on eBay from me and now I am leaving positive feedback here. But I put a disclaimer here. Your chemistry may be different than hubby's and mine, but a gentle warning: Use a light hand, and apply hours before you go out in public. Or I should say...out in public but with close quarters. The longevity and silliage are some of the strongest I've experienced and the Amber dries down and morphs into something fantastic. Now, on to tackle the 6 Al-Rehabs I purchased and get reviewing those. I may just put them in hubbies Easter Basket and let him review them for you ;).

Horrible connotations with 90s pop culture - the worst of nondescript cheap body sprays, inhaled from the high school dance miasma while pressed into a boy who was shorter (as all boys were at that age) and doused in something deeply offensive. Strangely, I get simililar time flashbacks from Katy Perry's Indi, which I blind bought simultaneously and have been insatiably sniffing on the other arm. Indi reminds me in a lovely way of my elder sisters' respective signature scents of that era: Body Shop White Musk (?) and some kind of sandalwood essence. But Indi has nothing in common with Halston's disgusting, sweet stink. One of the few scrubbers I've encountered. Can't wait to give it away (let me know if you're UK based and interested - although I realise after that description...) NOTE: This has now been re-homed. And just to add, I didn't mean offense to anyone who enjoys this scent; obviously we all have different reactions to fragrance and they're all valid. I was surprised at how strong my negative reaction to this was! But I'm clearly in the minority :P

This is a very strange perfume. On me, it smells like a hamster cage, a very animalic scent (due to the unsane amount of amber I guess). Good news for those who like such frags: Halston Amber has a very good staying power and sillage. editing: i was browsing through my samples today and sprayed this one on again. maybe i was too harsh writing about the hamster cage but i will not take my words back. What is more, now it gives me a funny WET hamster sensation thanks to the tuberose and aldehydes. There is a possibility I will start to enjoy this "pet" smell))) In general, this is a very abstract and nondescript piece of perfumer's work. a heady mix it is too...
