Hanae by Hanae Mori

I don't know how I didn't realize that this was a more recent release for the Hanae Mori line and not one that existed from the start. Then again, I should have known better, considering that flankers of popular scents are really only a recent phenomenon...maybe within the past maybe 15 years? More? Less? I don't know a whole lot about the perfume industry, but it seems to me that it used to be that when perfumes were released (at least in the '80s), no matter if you got the EDP, the EDT, the cologne or the parfum version...you pretty much got the exact same scent only in different strengths. That was my own experience at least (think Chanel No 5. Or Shalimar). But of course the flanker phenomenon has literally exploded with the constant and desperate need to release something new (yet still familiar) every, what, five minutes? ...But I digress! As for Hanae itself, this is a love. Bought it blind in a gift set with the body cream at TJ Maxx (along with Hanae Mori Butterfly EDP, which is next on my list to put to a wear test). I LOVE toffee scents (my other loves are Chopard Wish and Vanilla Noir by BBW), and this one does not disappoint. Toffee manages to lend a slightly chocolatey/caramel bent while staving off the toothaching sweetness of a praline (LVEB). The main notes I get are toffee, wild strawberry (slightly tart) and vanilla, and these last all day. It's very nice to also have the body cream, which may be assisting quite a bit with this aspect. I've never worn Flowerbomb or LVEB, mostly because they were too popular and I resist smelling just like everyone else, but I'm guessing Hanae is just on this side of going overboard on the sweetness and projection of those two. This is a fragrance for all gourmand lovers, regardless of your age. Bon apetit!

I am extremely excited tonight, after the USPS gave one last Hail Mary attempt to catch up deliveries after the holiday(s), and I received three new perfumes that are absolutely fabulous. Randomly, I have chosen Hanae for my first review, and she is a pretty, pretty princess - Indeed! I do have a bias for Hanae Mori in general, because the mother scent was my signature perfume for the longest time, and even after being replaced here and there, still returns as one of my favorite, and underrated, perfumes of all time. Hanae takes some of the same interesting tones from the original with use of strawberry, sandalwood, and vanilla - being the predominate of the former, and brightens them with a floral, bright, fruity freshness, that is just dazzling! Sugary notes soften as they mingle with the woody chords, and become powdery and feminine, blushing slightly, with young innocence. This! This is how mainstream modern gourmands seem to aim, and fall just short of that small mark - the honey spot. The place of sweetness, without diabetes, spicy warmth without carnival, brassy fruits without bruising, powdery without pretentiousness, and damp woods without insidious rot. Dry down continues to be delightful. The bottle is darling. Longevity and sillage are stellar. Yeah, that tight little space between cliche and greatness...it shines here.

I HAD TO delete my previous review bcs I felt it did no justice to how irresistibly gorgeous this perfume is! 💖 I purchased this a few days ago thanks to the high rating and rave reviews here, and now...I keep on sniffing the bottle.👃🏼 It's SURPRISINGLY scrumptious & mouthwatering~ I can't stop smelling my skin.. It's definitely "Toffee, sweet strawberry, vanilla, and a very candied patchouli". First spray I can REALLY SMELL the apple 🍎 & blackcurrant🍇, followed by the strong, sweet strawberry🍓, vanilla and toffee! What's even more shocking is the strawberry doesn't smell synthetic or syrupy. 10 or so minutes pass and the delicious candy patchouli shows itself...After half an hour the creamy woods🌲 start emerging giving a nice ground to the scent. The performance is great: Sillage is more than arms length. And the strawberry is way more distinguishable from afar. After spraying Hanae on this scent is STILL on my skin after 10-12 hours!! Overall it's the best blind purchase I ever had. It's fruity, sweet, vanilla with woods without being cloying or overly-girly. It made me fall in love with the strawberry note again! I'm EAGER to try more Hanae perfumes! Fully Recommended!

I absolutely adore this fragrance. I doused myself in it during summer 2020 when I first discovered it. It's a better blended version of the OG flowerbomb and la vie est belle to my nose. The patchouli is present during the opening but quickly blends into the mid and base notes with ease while the toffee brings out the sweetness from the fruity/floral notes. The dry down is so yummy and is grounded amazingly with the vanilla, cedar wood, benzoin and sandalwood. It seems recommended for younger aged girls but I honestly think it's crowd pleasing enough to wear at any age. This perfume smells much more expensive than it is and I've found that it layers BEAUTIFULLY with Guerlain's Insolence EDT. So much so, that I don't enjoy wearing Insolence without Hanae. I will say that I haven't tried this in the winter yet but it held up amazingly during the summer and it wasn't cloying or overbearing at all. The sillage and longevity were excellent as well which added to it's appeal.

I'm absolutely in love with this! On first spray it smelt very caramel/vanilla-y, like a softer version of Prada’s Candy. After a few minutes the red berries come out strongly. I detect hardly a drop of floral in it, so I’m not sure how or why it was inspired by a tiny forest flower. To me this smells like a much softer version of Candy mixed with Dot by Marc Jacobs (probably because of the berries). The sweetness in Hanae is there, but it’s not as sharp and screechy as it is in those other perfumes. I think Flowerbomb and Hanae smell similar, but only because they have bases that smell similar. FB is much more floral while Hanae is more like Crème brulée with raspberries. Overall it is a very nice and soft fruity gourmand. I like that is very youthful and sweet without smelling too immature, which happens when I try to wear things like Pink Sugar or Dot (and I am only 19!). I am considering getting a full version.

Hanae by Hanae Mori is a pretty, innocent, sweet and slightly tarte floral gourmand. I do agree that it smells similar to Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle, but this frag holds it's own. With my chemistry Hanae settles into a yummy toffee strawberry pink floral party, it's just delectable. The baby pink juice is so fitting. The bottle is simple and has a charming cap with a little flower attached to it. This fragrance would be very appropriate for work, a baby shower, or brunch but it's not something to turn heads with. I'm not saying that it isn't amazing it's just that it's a safe scent, very girly and sort of familiar. Hanae by Hanae Mori is a picnic at a park filled with pink cherry blossom trees on a bright spring day, a warm breeze stirring up the beautiful scent of pink flowers and surrounding green foliage, snacking on strawberries with toffee, having laughs with some girlfriends. I love it!

It's a more pleasing version of flowerbomb. Smells almost identical to flowerbomb in the opening, but that quickly dies down and it turns into something a lot more pleasant. In my opinion, the patchouli in Flowerbomb could be better blended into the perfume, and that's exactly what it is in this one. The patchouli is still there, but it is far better blended and almost undetectable as a single note. However, because the patchouli is in there, it lasts for ages on the skin and even longer on the clothes. This is definitely a "love" for me As it dries down, it reminds me a little bit of Rihanna's Reb'l Fleur without the coconut. It's got those same sweet fruity notes that makes Reb'l Fleur so appealing, but I feel like this one is a lot more versatile since a lot of people only prefer to wear coconut in certain environments

I'm so happy;-)I blind bought this Hanae&it's very rich on me,which I was looking for a very sweet perfume that lasted 6-8 on me&this one really does,it's alot more sweet almost like a strawberry cotton candy with added vanilla,toffe dripping to!Wow!It's sweet!I couldn't wear everyday that's why I do not really have a signature scent,but when I have a sweet tooth in perfume this satisfies all cravings,I mean if you only want one sweet sweet sweet scent in your collection, Hanae EDP would be good enough,lol,love this!!! Update:after wearing longer I do get patch&sandalwood in notes,maybe other,but as it mellows out its beautiful, I guess I could wear this often;-)it's what all the other sweet perfumes don't have a real creamy richness it's the sweet of the crop 100%!!!!

So I bought this as a gift and now I want it for myself. I am a Flowerbomb fan and this is uncannily similar to the point where towards the heart they are virtually indistinguishable from each other. The only difference is this has more of the delicious berry nuances (think stereotypically strawberry scent) and it is much lighter. This is a very appealing scent- especially for very young women, and it almost smells like something you would buy from The Body Shop (Bed Bath & Body Works etc.) I want this because it just smells so 'good', quite simply. Nice alternative to FB or LPRN (Guerlain). Shouldn't offend either. The only criticism might be that some could misconstrue it as infantile or insipid (which I don't). I look forward to owning this at some point!

I love this, it's so delicious! Yes, this is Flowerbomb (Light). It's perfect for daytime or spring/summer when the original may be too overwhelming for some. This is beautiful, it's a lightweight fragrance that is incredibly cozy and comforting. This has great sillage - even if you can't smell it others can - and they'll most likely love it, it's a crowd pleaser. At $28 for a full-sized bottle (100ml/3.4oz), this is more than worth its price tag. Highly recommended. Comparing this to Flowerbomb and LVEB, I'd say LVEB is the chic Parisian woman, Flowerbomb the stunning and yet lovely down-to-earth girl, while Hanae is the universally beautiful girl next door. They're all gorgeous!

Pretty much the same review as Azuri down below, I got a sample of Hanae with my purchase of HM EDT and HiM EDP (I'm an HM guy since way back). I'd never smelled Hanae before but I really like it. It might be a little too feminine coded for me to wear, but on someone else it would be intoxicating. The top and heart notes that are so fruit forward are great, and the base has enough similarity to HM that you can tell it's from the same house. It feels like a pair meant to be together. I'd really love a chance to go on a date with someone wearing Hanae while I wear HM and see how the scents co-mingle. Is that weird? Definitely at least get a sample to check it out.

This perfume was a total surprise to me. It was a blind buy and I kind of expected to hopefully like it, but loving it as I do I did not expect. This is a MUCH better, more refined and a bit airier representation of perfumes along the lines of Flowerbomb and La vie est belle. This is sweet, but light. Definitely not an in your face type of fume. Hanae mori did not disappoint with this one and I'm actually kind of surprised that this isn't getting more buzz. It deserves more fame I feel. It's different from its butterfly sister but fits perfectly in the family. The mix of toffee, fruit and vanilla makes for a magical concoction. Extremely pretty.

Oh how I love you hanae... I've gone out with her a few times and I must say her silage is just so lovely, she lasts fairly long and has such a fresh, fruity, floral scent. I do see why people have compared her to flowerbomb and la vie est belle, but even so, I think she does a nice job at standing out on her own. The notes all work together very nicely and it's significant while not being stuffy or unbearable. She's such a joy!! To be honest, she's one of my special occasion perfumes so her bottle is still very full, but I love when I do get the opportunity to wear her! I HIGHLY recommend, especially if you like flowerbomb or la vie est belle

I think this smells practically identical to the discontinued Flowerbomb EDT. I love that fragrance and I love this one too. It just smells so good! I smell caramel, fruits and berries. It's a bit lighter than FB but longevity is good. I bought this along with the body creme, which is absolutely gorgeous. This is a fun fragrance that still echoes the original Hanae Mori, I feel the berries and sandalwood accords. But layered on top of the old DNA is florals, caramel, vanilla and other yummy things. This is exactly my favourite type of gourmand and I can't get enough of it.

This is a really gorgeous perfume. The notes listed are true - it opens floral and fruity, then it warms to a sweet gourmand. Really lovely. Until it falls apart on me. The issue for me is that - when I test a perfume, I spray it in the crook of my elbow. Over time, some scents turn metallic on me, and that happens with this beauty. I don’t know if, because it’s a warmer area, maybe it mixes with salt from my skin. No idea, but it’s happened more than once and it doesn’t matter how expensive the perfume. C’est la vie. I will spray it on other areas.

So lovely! Gorgeously sweet - strawberries are my favourite fruit; supreme nectar. Sweet, fruity, rich and delicious, but with really gorgeous florals - the rose in particular, and the tang of the beautiful orange flower - and the lovely gentle, spicy patchouli. Vanilla gives it a lovely creaminess, combined with the toffee makes it heavenly, and the woods and benzoin add a luscious depth. For me it's not young; it's nicely feminine, and very attractive. I feel very comfortable in my skin wearing it. It's very appealing and delicious.

Hanae Mori sent me a sample of Hanae with my recent order of HM EDP. Oh my! If I had a woman, I would buy her this fragrance for sure. It's not super unique, but the way it's blended and the way it behaves is what sets it apart. The notes are rounded and hit the nose gently and with finesse. It's one of those "that smells so pretty" fragrances even though the scent profile is not amazing in itself. Man, I just love how it smells. My friend who was with me when I got the package liked it too so I gave him the sample for his wife.

Delicious toffee, red berries and very gentle patchouli. Mix Flowerbomb and Jimmy Choo and remove everything cloying and screechy, and you get Hanaé. This is a very pretty and inoffensive variation of trendy fruitchoulis like Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle, which I can appreciate from a distance but find much too aggressive on myself. Hanaé is very sweet but never too much, joyful and leaves a soft, barely there but delightful trail. Its scent turns more fruity and sparkling if layered with a citrus scented hand cream.

This scent is so beautiful. It smells like a lighter version of the original Flowerbomb. I can smell the sweet strawberry in the opening. Then, a few minutes later, it turns fruity floral. Its so beautiful. I bought a big bottle from Fragrancenet for only $25. I saw this also being sold at Perfumania at the mall and the big bottle is for $75!! This scent can be worn day and night all year round. This is also great to wear at the gym because it is very light, soft, powdery, and fresh.

Love at first sniff for me! Intense fruits in the opening, mostly sweet wild strawberries leading to toffee drenched florals. Patchouli is present- dry and woodsy. Not at all minty. Hanae is a perfume that I enjoy top to bottom. I only wish it was a bit stronger. The longevity on clothes is better than skin. 12 sprays on clothes, skin, and hair lasted about 6 hours. This has fast become a favorite. I haven’t tried flowerbomb yet, but now I want to!

Beautiful fragrance which, yes, is in the LVEB vibe, and yes again, is a very close, affordable dupe of Flowerbomb. It can certainly stand on its own. But I think it's also a nice layering element. Because all three have strawberry notes, I decided to experiment by with layering it with Mon Paris, Valentina Pink, and Rebelle, respectively. This resulted in three more (and different ) versions of beautiful.

This is sweetness brewed with a fine touch. Sophisticated and delectable. The star players for me are strawberry, vanilla and jasmine. I can't speak to Flowerbomb comparisons as I vaguely recall smelling it at a perfume counter once but it didn't pique my interest at the time. What I can say as a lover of vanilla and strawberry who likes a little sweetness is that this satisfies my craving perfectly.

Sweet, creamy, powdery, goodness with a touch of warmth. It's a light fragrance but still has depth from the toffee, patchouli, and its base notes. The toffee note about 4 hours in is so delicious. I love this fragrance. It is reminiscent of Flowerbomb but not a dupe IMO. Its opening reminds me of the smell of opening up an Allure or Glamour magazine. This was a blind buy and I'm very happy with it.

This perfume smells much more expensive than it actually is. I felt like I was stealing it for only paying 23 bucks for it on fragrance x.com. It is a bit more mature than what I usually wear but I still love it. It pairs great with a couple of my other body sprays and really stands out at night. I would recommend this to anyone who starting a perfume collection looking for something to start with.

I just had to express how much I love this. Smells like a bowl of sugared strawberries. You could wear this all year round but in my opinion this absolutely sings in the summertime (it's not humid where I live). Projects beautifully. It's a super joyful fragrance, too. Think Harry Styles' watermelon sugar music video - that's what it evokes for me. Smells high quality and aways gets me compliments

Love it, classic hanae mori. They finally made a fragrance thats the female version to the HM for men. I've been buying that one for my kids father for years now, jealous I didn't have anything like it myself. He always smells so amazing! Hanae for women smells just like it but more feminine. A wonderful and beautiful fragrance. A blind buy but soooo GLAD I did!

Blind bought this bc Coffee_Girl said this reminded her of me.... so happy I listened to her I got the 3.4 bottle for a steal from my favorite eBay seller! It's sweet warm inviting and definitely a close dupe to Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf edp which I have been on the hunt for a reasonably priced bottle! They are both ambery sweet florals! I am in love!!!!!

Bright sweetness, but grounded in green woods. This was one of the few perfumes I bought in my non-perfume days, and I keep going back to it even though I've amassed a larger collection now. It's just perfect for those soft, low-key kind of days, though I think it may be better suited for greener seasons (spring, summer). Love this one.

For me this is definitely a 5/5 EDP. It is lovely from start to finish with fresh sugared vanilla strawberries. It dries down to soft fruit notes. I agree with other reviewers that it smells much more expensive than what I paid $17. I can wear this on hot days or warm spring days, It's sweet but not overly sweet and very smooth.

An instant love for me! Perfectly sweet, gourmand led by strawberries and toffee. Im so glad this doesn’t smell immature at all very seductive and feminine. Good projection and longevity plus the bottle is so cute! I layered this w Jimmy Choo by Jimmy Choo because they both have toffee and patchouli and it’s so beautiful.

I really love this fragrance. It is really close to Flowerbomb, which I also own. But this one is much more brighter and fresher in the opening. This one I could wear in the summer, while I would never use Flowerbomb on a hot weather. But alas, the longevity of this one is not very good. Flowerbomb lasts longer.

I cannot believe that I love this! Looking at the notes, it seems like something I would dislike, but on my skin, it's like dark, sweet, woodsy candy. It's not too sweet, and I also get amber and a touch of orchid...no citrus detected for me. I look forward to wearing this on a regular basis!

I just received this in the mail yesterday. Testing it today I would say that it is a wee bit similar to Flowerbomb. It is quite beautiful. I definitely like the drydown best. Soft patchouli with cedar and bit of berry still after 9 hours of wear time.

This is such a beautiful, fruity feminine fragrance. Imagine wearing a delicious tropical drink on your skin softened by sandalwood and vanilla. I love Hanae Mori fragrances, and this latest offering is no exception.

This is a great sweet perfume....done well...just wish it lasted longer....i may rebuy&spray on my clothing to see if that helps...for a sweet strawberry mix gourmand this is cute for casual days~

I so wanted to love this to wear all the time, but something in it makes me choke and gives me a headache after an hour. People tell me it smells great on me though!

Extremely similar to flowerbomb just more fruity instead of floral, enjoy both & love that i can have an affordable dupe.

Delicious. Similar strawberry to Jafra Paris at Moi. Both are long lasting and under $20.00. 2 great blind buys.

My wife is irresistible when she uses Hanae.

Hanae is ambitious, girly, and inoffensive; nothing groundbreaking or original but simply sweet and pretty. This is a typical fruity scent done in a Bath & Body Works fashion, it literally smells like something I could buy for much cheaper at a drugstore but regardless, I find it rather whimsical. I went from disliking gourmand fragrances to being quite neutral about it–to enjoying it immensely. The truth is I didn’t grow up in a baker’s household so the smell of cookies and candy won’t necessarily provoke the strong feelings I often associate as nostalgia. But I do find comfort in warmth, and Hanae tends to conjure a sense of affection and coziness which I accredit completely to the toffee and vanilla mix. The main ingredients are a buttery accord consisting of toffee, strawberries, and vanilla. These are the top notes and they remain rather consistent on the dry down as well, I barely sense any apple and if there were it would be buried underneath the many layers of candy and sugar. I am relieved to find very subtle patchouli notes and the addition of black currant makes for a very "jam-my" dry down. Sillage is pretty low even after a rigorous application; longevity is decent (3-4 hours). Hanae is typically linear and has zero complexity; it’s a standard fragrance for younger individuals, or for someone unfamiliar with perfumes. It’s also great if you were in the market for a basic scent that can be worn daily and has a zero chance of offending someone. Vienna.Pink

I’m concerned that some of the people saying that this is pure sugar are reviewing Butterfly instead, which to me is straight sugary milk. This, to me, is like a LVEB body mist...which incidentally is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It’s like LVEB for the person who loves the scent of LVEB, but doesn’t really want the whole world knowing you’ve stepped in the room because they can smell you before you actually get in there. I love LVEB, but I’m way too shy and self conscious to actually wear it. Hanae May be a good solution for me. Time will tell. It is interesting though, the confusion between the Hanae fragrances. It’s gone so far as me attempting to purchase a sample of Hanae only to receive a sample of pink butterfly by confused sellers. So glad I finally got the correct sample!

This is compared to La vie est Belle and Flowerbomb, both of which I own & love, but I think I like this one more, especially for spring! It's not as powdery as LVEB and you get this bright strawberry sweetness that's wonderful and addictive. I haven't worn it all day yet but it's wonderful. Pretty presentation/bottle (the cap is glass) and a wonderful price. I will probably layer this with Pink Vanilla Wish by Bodycology or Black Raspberry Vanilla from Bath and Body Works. It might also work well with Pink Chiffon. One of the reviewers below mentions Jimmy Choo and I agree, that could be stunning as well as they share the patchouli and toffee notes. Stunning, slept-on, blind-buy gem!

Typical fruitchouli gourmand fragrance. I was expecting a little more from the reviews. It starts off with a bright berry opening, quickly morphs into a sickly caramel covered berry, all the while it has a nagging dirty note that smells of dusty dirt, literal earth. I’m assuming it’s the type of patchouli that’s been used to give the earthiness. I don’t like this note, the fragrance would have been better without it. It dries down to a very creamy vanilla. It smells a little generic. I recommend it for the cooler months. It can be very cloying and overwhelming. The bottle is cute but the lid isn’t easy to pull off. It’s an ok fragrance.

I wish I could get that toffee note, but the wild strawberry runs this show. I don't smell vanilla or patchouli either. This is more like berry body spray on me. A little too bright and happy for my taste. Edit: Something has changed in just a few hours. I'm getting ready for bed, well, putting on my nightshirt and getting ready to get comfy in bed and read. I decided to spray Hanae a few more times and I can smell the toffee and apple! It's so lovely and sweet! I don't know why, at first spray, I could only smell the strawberries, but now it's different. Every so often I almost get a whiff of sweet cookies. This is good!

Holy berry-toffee-chocolate-patchouli! This stuff is smooth! Hanae is sweet in the way that molasses is sweet. It's not cotton candy sweet. It's deeper and darker. If you can, get a bottle with dark brown juice. It's totally macerated and heavy on the vanilla. The middle notes and drydown are quite soft and beautiful. It dries a little powdery with some sandalwood. It's really very delicious. If you’re a gourmand lover, this is absolutely worth trying. And right now it’s fairly inexpensive. I love it so much I have a back-up.!

I can't help it...I am head over heels for Hanae. Its SO sweet and sugary and on me it almost smells like straight toffee - sticky and sweet - and patchouli. I get some strawberry and vanilla, a tiny bit of woods, and virtually no apple or citrus. (which i am quite happy with, i hate apple on me) I know its a sugarchouli like a lot of popular frags, but I honestly don't care! There's something special to me about this one. Its simple, sweet, and intoxicating. A love for me. Can't stop sniffing myself! <3

This has a similar quality to Flowerbomb/LVEB, but I find Hanae less screechy. It is a heady fruitchouli with lots of patch and some berries. It is not as sweet as regular HM pink butterfly; more musky. I don't love or hate it. I don't really get a true toffee or caramel quality from this scent. At the same time, it isn't a patch bomb the way that Angel is. I get good longevity from this fragrance and I spray with caution because the sillage is rather strong.
