Hanae Mori Purple Butterfly

I do absolutely love this! It's wonderful. Very good depth, warmth and I agree it has a gorgeous oriental feel to it. I very much love violet and patchouli, and they are lovely in this. It is beautiful. All the flowers, fruits and sweet things, with the earthier, creamy woods and musk, and with the tea and patchouli giving a gentle spiciness, make for a divine fragrance. Definitely a beautiful perfume.

I have Just got IT! Very nice but nőt outstanding ás I have Hanea Mori edt. They are almost similar. The biggest difference is the slightly artifical note. IT is not present ín the Purple one, so IT is a tad more modern. I wish it had more detectable patchoulie, but otherwise a very adorable, sweet, I mean really sweet, longlasting fragrance.

This one is gorgeous! Simply put it is Hanae Mori with a load of powdery Violets and Iris petals delicately powdered with sweetness. Also a hint of nutty bitterness does make its prescence known; but only to balance it and that allows this to be sweet but never cloying! It's delicate and beautiful a love for me! Oh how I miss it!

PS. Lol NGEVITY AND SILLAGE not great... PSS I MUST apologize to HMPB... I'm wearing it again today and getting great sillage and longevity!!! The difference? Well moisturized skin. I have extremely dry skin and MUST use unscented moisturizer after shower or it's a waste of fragrance.

I. Am in. Purple Butterfly heaven. Exquisite fragrance. Lovely notes. I'm so glad I treated myself to this gorgeous fragrance. I've become a lover of violet / iris fragrance and the woody and patchouli notes ground it for me. True love!

With iris, violets, and patchouli already being very powdery smells, I don't quite understand why the artificial powdery notes are needed as they make it smell like secret deodorant

The review below mine is very accurate. This flanker really does have the DNA of the original Butterfly, but with added violet and iris powderiness. It is very sweet for the most part, but as another reviewer mentioned, it also has a bitterness to it - perhaps from the Patchouli? It doesn't detract at all from the fragrance in my opinion, just gives it an ever so slight edge, like a dark gothic fairy with purple wings that flitter around a fairy dust when she flies. I would recommend this to people who 1) enjoy the original HM Butterfly, 2) enjoy powdery scents reminiscent of a cosmetics bag, and 3) those who enjoy violet and iris scents.

This is pretty but a lot like other patchouli fruity powdery celeb scents out there. I expected more from Hanae Mori. I like but don't love it. This is sweet patchouli like in celeb scents not herbal or hippie vibe, just darkening the fragrance. There is a bit of a candied violet but I wouldn't call this a violet scent. It's not really that powdery. it's more weak. A watered down fruitchouli scent with some violets in the mix. Could use a dose of musk. In the base, it warms up to be still a fruitchouli. Not a powdered scent. Just not in your face.

This is very simply the original Butterfly EDP with some candied and powdered violets added. You could probably get close to this by layering the original with a scent like Insolence. I like it because I love violets, but I'm not sure I like it more than the original Butterfly. The creaminess of the original has been replaced with powder in this fragrance. Do you like creamy or powdery? Answer that question and you'll know which fragrance you prefer. They are different enough to own both though.

Powderiest perfume ever! Reminds me quite a bit of Putain des Palaces with extra powder piled on top. Anyone who enjoys cosmetic scents and powder should give it a whirl! It's the first HM scent that isn't a touch chemical on me. Really enjoying it. I can see where people are getting the deodorant feeling, but it's not a problem for me. Reminiscent of Anglomania as well.

It's ok... This is not a dislike nor particularly a like...I am on the fence here. It is indeed powdery (not bitter exactly but dry...), that has the dna of the original pink butterfly. Mind you, I like the powdery perfumes , done right, where the powderiness comes from the flowers, and doesn't feel artificial. But this perfume's notes (flowers and powder notes alike) feel artificial and not a proper or classy combo, it is actually a baby powder kind of perfume. I also feel that way about the butterfly edt btw, which has sth i like in there but all the artificial notes miss the mark of making it classy and truly beautiful ... *I also agree that it resembles putain de palaces a lot, only 'putain' is just a tad better (I also find that too sweet and an old fashioned artificial mixed combo of notes).To conclude, to me it is a 'meh' reaction and I would not repurchase. Edit: this one and angel’s dust are clones and released the same year-don’t know which copied which... but the latter is extremely expensive and isn’t worth breaking the bank since they are the one and the same perfume-bleh...

I have a few hanae Mori perfumes, and I think they're quite lovely. I thought I would love this one for sure. Yuck! I like a little powder in my perfume. But this one is way way way too much! So much powder It chokes me out. I'll never buy this stuff again. This is the first time I've ever blind bought a perfume and couldn't stand it.

I am NOT a fan of patchouli. That said, this is absolutely 100% fruitchouli. If purple was a fragrance, this would be it. If it could’ve just been the candied violet without the patchouli, I could’ve loved it.

Oh my, this smells great! definitely a Hanae Mori with punch! top notes are warm, rich, even earthy..I detect the orris note, patchouli, and a buttery iris..I like that it smells oriental, without any spiciness, just a warm aura..funny it almost smells like licorice also! it gets a bit powdery in the heart,I then detect the violet..the base is so lovely, on my skin, like a sweet soft heaven! I thought it was a lot like YSL Manifesto Elixir, but I do like the Hanae Mori more, it is deeper, less powdery, more unexpected.the plum is there in the background too...this is a nice surprise from Hanae Mori...I personally dont see any similartity with the original which is more like a sweet powdery cloud to my nose..Purple is more dense..more interesting too..ii like that although it gets sweet and warm in the drydown, there is that elixir undertone throughout the scent.

Smells as if you were wearing Hanae Mori original and dusted yourself with very expensive powder, the real kind with orris root. So delicious. If you crave the lipstick/cosmetic bag scent, I doubt you can top Purple Butterfly. Somewhat reminds me of the discontinued Lipstick On, but with superior longevity and sillage. If there is patchouli here, it's lighthanded, or I am anosmic. On the other hand, vanilla comes through loud and clear, despite its absence from the notes list. Maybe it's heliotope that I confuse with vanilla? Neither is listed, hmmm. Anyway, this is much sweeter than the notes lead one to expect. This is not as heavy as Black Pearls - BP has darker base notes - yet there is an overlap. Hanae Mori's best scent. Just excellent.

Fruit punch and plastic doll heads i played with in the 80's. I like it but i don't enjoy it.
