Magical Moon

EDP: Heaven meets Earth in Hanae Mori's Magical Moon. I enjoy a whimsical, imaginative, creative, artistic, Spiritual, Otherworldly scent, that is not just the exact same smell as a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, or a room full of burning "oud" oil, incense sticks and patchouli. I am not one to dissect all the notes individually, as I find that defeats the purpose of Perfume. I enjoy and prefer a perfect mixture of different various scents, that in turn, create an entirely new scent; Unique to my sense of smell, and Exclusive. This EDP ticks all these boxes for me. Ms. Hanae Mori concocted this Gem under a Special Super Moon. A Magical Moon with it's many phases, and colors, and the emotions that it can stir is how this Gem translates into smell. If your more of a late night person who enjoys gazing at the stars and the moon when it shines it's light on a field of already beautiful flowers, only to make them appear even more beautiful and translucent almost, then this EDP might be for you. As the moon reflects light, this perfume reflects a particular emotion using various key notes. The emotion is indescribable, but I will try my best: as folklore, myth, and some science says, that under a Full Moon people tend to become erratic because all of their emotions reach a sudden spontaneous peak due to many arguable factors. This emotion can cause some to become hyper, confused, and have heightened sensory awareness. When a person is able to recognize the oncoming of a certain emotion, and be able to truly manipulate their own emotions, this special emotion felt under the Full Moon is actually one of Bliss. It allows for a total higher positive vibration level, and it truly is a Spiritual experience; one that can then be felt, hopefully, throughout ones life. Moon and Star gazing can be a moment in time where one is truly in the Heavens and Earth at once. As anyone who has been entranced by the Moonlight, or as an avid Stargazer would say, the rush experienced is like taking off into flight in between Earth and Heaven. Wearing Hanae Mori's Magical Moon is like experiencing these 2 phenomenons. It is truly a pleasure and something special. My Love recognizes "me" with this scent. He says "wear the blue one" I haven't smelled a perfume even remotely like it, so don't pay mind to that "reminds me of" list. At first whiff it is spicy with a hint of sweet and fruit, and then it becomes smoky, woody and fruity, with a touch of something soft and tender, almost cloud like. After spending about almost an hour with the middle notes, the EDP settles and becomes clearer and clearer, a sweet, balmy and woody smell, slightly spicy with hints of fruit and flowers and a touch of clouds and smoke, adding a sparkle like quality to the overall scent; it is honestly very hard to describe. I can not separate the notes entirely to give such an accurate description of what it is one will be smelling. The Note seems so Tropical and foreign to an American like myself, but they all come together to paint a picture of Blue, White & Silver on the same plain, just as the lovely bottle is presented. This is one of a kind, intriguing, a Scent to be remembered and cherished by. I am sure they will stop producing it someday, so I will have to hoard it while I can. I urge all to baste in the glorious Magical Moonlight. But, beware, this gem CHOOSES it's wearer. Chemistry is key here, and Ms. Hanae Mori knew this very well. This perfume really shines in the spring and summer as it allows all the notes to come out and sizzle together. In Eastern Countries where the climate is particularly hot year round, "Oriental" scents are almost always worn. Warm weather truly works best for orientals. This is not a "Spray and go" perfume for on the go people, this is a sitting in front of your vanity spray spray, finish getting ready calmly, and then go :-) Longevity: Until You have Showered and Scrubbed it Off

I don't think I have reviewed this one yet, but I've been wearing it for about a year now. I have wonderful associations with this scent, so I might be somewhat biased, but I don't think there's much to dislike about it anyways. The name is so fitting. The perfume does smell magical! It all comes together so well. This fragrance really has a personality, and it's fabulous. Also unlike anything I've smelled before. It's really unique but also very appealing to most noses, I'd think. It makes a great first impression, and no matter how often I wear it (one of the ones I reach for most), I don't tire of it. Lasting power and sillage are perfect and the bottle is gorgeous. Incense looks like it's the prominent note based on the votes, but I usually don't love strong incense (church-like incense) and I don't think that's what stands out the most on my skin. I mostly get the vanilla, the sugar, and some fruity notes while the incense just delicately adds the 'mysterious' touch. But it's not so mysterious that it strikes you as a serious perfume. This is the only perfume I took with me for a three week long road trip down the east coast of the U.S. with my best best friend. All we did was laugh and enjoy ourselves and I associate the scent with her and our time together, everytime I wear it. It brings me back to hotel rooms, warm weather, hungover car drives, and moments that made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. It just brings a smile to my face. Magical Moon is such a happy perfume. It's very playful, almost ingenue. I wouldn't wear it on a date or to the office. I reach for this beaut while I'm putting on my blue mascara and going out for cocktails with the girls. :) It's not a juvenile perfume but it speaks to my inner child. It's pure and innocent and confident in its individuality, strong, feminine, and gentle at once. Magical Moon is like a little girl who knows who she is before the world starts asking her to be someone else. Magical Moon is the little girl inside all of us who asks for what she wants without feeling bad, the little girl who can be vulnerable, the little girl who can forgive and forget, the little princess inside us all that is every bit a princess playing Tag barefoot in the grass as she is in ballerina slippers. Magical Moon is the divine feminine, the perfume that always reminds me of who I was and proud of who I've become. It brings me back to basics. When life starts to feel like too much, this one puts it all into perspective. EDIT: review is based on the EDP

I've been wanting to find and sample this fragrance for so long, having read the many reviews that describe it as pure magic, and I'm really sorry to say this is a scrubber. I have EDT which isn't sweet at all. Sugar, vanilla, fruits, tropical, exotic? Yeah no. And there's nothing alluring or magical about it. It smells like the worst date of your life with a really miserly guy who smokes cheap menthol cigarettes and uses his dad's dated cologne because he thinks it gives him sex appeal. He has dull jokes and grabby hands and makes you pay for your own cocktail which you don't care to finish because the place was chosen solely for its affordability and you're not even sure they wash the glasses properly. You come home and want to wash the whole evening off, not just the scents of it. Yikes. The longer I wear it the more I feel like it's just not suitable for women. Mishmash of potent unclean patchouli and an in-your-face sour accord of most likely starfruit makes it smell like bitter citrus rinds which is... kind of stomach turning, literally. All the harsh notes were turned up to the maximum at the expense of the gentler and milder ones being significantly toned down which is how they usually go about men's frags to make them edgy. What I imagine when I smell it is a 70s cologne that had turned due to the passage of time and bad storaging. It really has that "gone bad" quality on top of everything. The base is largely different, tamer. It pulls soapy on me, and I also detect very old fashioned powder (like 50s iris) which I would wear on its own because the scent is traditionally delicate and comforting, but it's many long hours of suffocating dryness and bitterness to get to that stage. What part exactly is supposed to be magical? Old man's cologne, ever-present menthol or vintage soap? I would argue all of these things are pretty basic, and even as an ex-smoker I never went for those menthol cigs, they were always considered super tacky, there's no way it's suddenly magical in perfume. But I guess that gives you "unique" just for the sake of it. Suppose whatever magic it might have had must've leaked out on the way here. Or maybe it's a new magic-free formula for those allergic to it. If anything changes on my end there'll be a follow-up but so far my high hopes for this fragrance only lead to disappointment and disgust.

Magical Moon is the ONLY fragrance in my idiotically large collection that I've chosen to have in edt, edp and parfum because it truly is THAT wonderful. There is no other fragrance that features chili pepper (curiously absent from the pyramid above) and incense, an unlikely pairing that produces an oriental gourmand, and the combination is absolutely delicious. The aura is that of a sweet, hot and spicy dense smoke infused with a refreshingly outdoorsy/vegetal green. And all of this tasty goodness hits from the first spray! Since I love that opening so much I don't fault the fragrance for being linear but celebrate the fact that what initially enchants remains throughout its impressive longevity. As for all of the reviews that cite rotten fruit and dead flowers, I submit that the omission of chili as the first note in the pyramid has caused the dislike/confusion. When the nose is primed for fruit and flowers and is instead hit with chili peppers the effect is akin to forgetting you've just brushed your teeth and taking a long gulp from a glass of orange juice. A couple of years ago all formulations had become rather pricey but old stock of 30ml edp has surfaced and Magical Moon is once again very affordable, especially on "that auction site". Highly recommended and a safe blind buy for oriental fans and those who enjoy their green in a sweet vegetable rather than bitter galbanum format. Edit: Reviewer Pari88 has already listed the notes from the bottle but since her review from 2011 is now quite a way down the list, here they are again, listed in the order in which they appear on my tester bottle: Chilli [sic], incense, pink peppercorns, cane sugar, white sandalwood, vanilla pod, red cedar bark, patchouli leaves, cotton blossom, white musk, pineapple pulp, guava nectar, lychee, star fruit, coco milk, rose de porcelaine [?] gardenia and finally, orange blossom. Almost looks like a recipe for an exotic smoothie!

Magical Moon is unique, powerful and very underrated. It's a creamy oriental that smells like night air in moonlit tropics. I agree with the description from Perfume Revolution (which I'll preserve here because I can't find it elsewhere): A floral oriental fragrance, Magical Moon features a constellation of balmy notes including tart pineapple, litchi and guava blended with the smoky sweetness of sandalwood, white musk, vanilla and sugar cane. Coconut milk adds creamy smoothness while pink berries deliver a peppery perk like a comet shooting through the night sky. Allegedly, each Magical Moon ingredient is harvested according to the lunar calendar, a nod to ancient Japan (cannot confirm accuracy of these claims). It's difficult to similarities with this unusual fragrance but it could be described as a much more rich and exquisite Ghost. The packaging is absolutely right to fit its deep blue/purple profile. It's incense-y and distinctly nocturnal, and for that reason, this is not a go-to office scent. I agree with luciennemily's assessment and sundayinheaven's assessment (except for the sillage). I've found the longevity to be powerful. This is not a perfume I have ever needed to reapply. It's well formulated. The sillage is strong, you can smell it when the bottle is closed. It will stay on your clothes, skin, and really anything. It settles down well. The character softens beautifully in its twilight. I have both the EDP and the EDT. The EDT is more fruity and subtle but misses some of the depth and complexity of the EDP. Longevity is much higher than most EDTs. When I bought a bottle from the Hanae Mori online store, it came with some samples of Butterfly and HM (which is always appreciated but I was not blown away by either of these).

Magical moon is a lovely, smooth, and smokey vanilla. It's my first hanae mori that I discovered I really liked. The first few seconds of magical moon always makes me wonder if my memory is wrong and I've made a mistake. Very sharp and (IMO) ugly fruit notes like pineapple shriek, then as soon as I'm ready to complain it totally transforms (like magic obviously :P). This gorgeous fragrance is touted to be linear by hanae mori themselves, and it really is a beautiful consistent creamy smoked vanilla. There is a sweetness and a sourness due to the top fruit notes that stick around like star fruit. The cotton flower adds a clean element, the juniper berries make the fragrance a tad piney although I don't really get the juicyness of the berries. I do get the sugaryness in my nostrils as the final smell I experience before I pull away from smelling my arm. I think I can smell the osmanthus and coconut, but the overall fragrance is it a bit vague and soft, in a dreamy way. Modeled after Japanese perfumery, the fragrance has a very musky and powdery component. For me this is a skin +1 fragrance. And what I mean by that it's a fragrance that gives me a feel of a sexy, perfumed version of a my own skin. Some more neutral smooth vanillas give me that impression and this is one of them. I also heard a rumor that they bottle this perfume during full moons only, I can't remember the source to verify it true, but I like to think it is! Oh, and the bottle is so cute. I have a crush on this fragrance.

Oh how I love you Magical Moon. I've reviewed this so many times, but here I go again. It starts with heavy incense and white florals, then morphs into this creamy white floral, with a whisper of incense, almost like a haze over the ocean at night, then the tropical fruits and this almost tanginess appears, all mixed with the creamy white florals and incense. It is so difficult to describe, truly almost impossible, it’s so well blended and so many notes and layers, and very complex. In the Summer it’s a secluded tropical island at night, palm trees on the ocean under the stars, an intimate fire burning on the beach. In the Autumn, it is the imaginary night sky pictured through Navajo tales in the dessert. In the Winter this becomes a gluttonous world of fancy dresses and holiday balls in a luxury home in the gilded era, with a wood burning fire and a feast, ceiling to floor windows that look out in the twinkling starry skies of winter. In the Spring this is the twilight land of Fae, strong and powerful, majestic and wise, wearing long white or blue gowns traveling across the oceans to Valinor under starry skies. I feel as if it was made just for me, my chemistry, my skin, sent from heaven. Magical it is, and it has stolen my heart forever. *This takes a very long time to develop from top to bottom-longer then majority of the fragrances I have tried in my lifetime. It is very complex. This is also very powerful, and 3 spritz will last all day and night. It can become overpowering to your neighbors if you overspray. This is a unique special journey from beginning to end, and a wild magical one.

I've been putting off reviewing this one because I've been afraid of not being able to do it justice. It's blended so well and smells so good that it's hard to describe, but I'll try. Magical Moon opens with slightly tart tropical fruits, the thick somewhat waxy feeling of the starfruit standing out in particular. This lasts only a few minutes, but really sets up the entire feeling of the scent for me. It quickly becomes very smooth and creamy, warm sandalwood and sweet and dry incense, but that light tropical feeling is still there. It doesn't feel heavy, just very even. This is the core of the fragrance, this delicious woody incense blend accented with fruits and I think a fairly strong osmanthus note. As it wears a fresh cotton pops out, balancing out the sweeter notes in the base nicely. Everything about this scent is very well put together for me, the dry incense and tart fruits playing with the creamy sandalwood and the sweet notes, keeping it from becoming too much of any one thing. While if I could imagine this scent in colour I would think of that luminous glow of a full moon, this scent makes me think of white sand and palm trees, sunshine and starfruit, of relaxing on a tropical island beach. And yet, it's not a beachy scent. I think this wears well all year and is versatile without being safe. And there's something so comforting about it. I just love it really. Worth trying, I think this is one that lots of different fragrance tastes could enjoy.

This juice is indeed "magical"! I was given a full bottle as a gift from a wonderful Fragrantican in Sweden, "just because". What an angel she was to send me this gorgeous fragrance! From the first spray I envisioned a tropical setting. I wore this beauty to bed and dreamed of taking a romantic stroll on an exotic, moonlit beach with someone special... Several paces behind us is the restaurant where we've just finished dinner. The sounds of laughter and conversation from the restaurant are slowly fading with the lingering scent of something enticing cooking on the grill. The ocean waves lap calmly against the shore. A gentle breeze wraps itself around us allowing me to catch a whiff of my creamy vanilla perfume. In front of us shines the light from a bonfire further up the beach. As we draw nearer the smell of incense and smoldering ash from burning wood mingles with the creamy scent of my aforementioned vanilla perfume and the sugared rim of the guava cocktail I hold in my hand. Utterly intoxicating! Just before my shower in the morning I could still smell the last traces of sweetness on my wrist, thus the longevity lasted about 8 hours. Sillage sits close to the skin but is noticed by others. I intend to test it a few times in winter to see how it performs in cold weather, but mostly I'll be saving this bottle for summer. I plan to hoard it away for special occasions. It is that good!

Wow where do I start? With this perfume I'd have to say there are two sides to it. Upon first spritz, you are transported to a tropical island at sunset, then you're soon in this island at dusk surrounded by airs of mystery. It's hard for me to explain, but one side is light, the other is dark. The zesty pineapple and incense are what I first noticed. It somewhat reminded me of Poison by Dior? But not as overpowering. Just a hint. Then the sugar cane and cotton scent starts to develop, making for a light and sweet aroma. This is the island at sunset. Then after about 10-15 minutes in, when the air settles on your skin, the sandalwood and litchi come through. Suddenly it starts to smell very soft, mysterious and intoxicating. The rose, pink pepper and patchouli make a discreet appearance. This is the island at dusk. I'd say it's a 'dark tropical gothic' perfume, which I ADORE. I don't think I've been this excited about a perfume in a long time, and I can imagine it becoming my signature scent. The sillage is great, and so is the longevity. I don't think I can find any fault with this perfume. I'd say it's definitely a late summer/fall perfume, and is suitable for any woman of any age. She who wears this perfume is an enigma!

I've worn the original HM since it's launch and it is one of my "wont be without" fumes. I've been curious about this for some time until I got a generous decant from a lovely fragrantican. This is heavenly but very unlike the original!! It is rather strong and has super sillage and lasting power, I recommend a VERY light trigger finger. (especially with the EDP) I get LOTS of sweetened dried fruit but I can't decipher them individually. It is smokey, balmy and warm (some might even say "dark") No spice or woods to my nose. The supporting notes (coconut, osmanthus) blend well without being distinctive in and of themselves balancing the fruit and keeps them from going "rotten". This is a cooler weather and definitely an evening scent. The name is perfect. I now have both the EDT and the EDP as they are quite different in the way they present on the skin. the EDP is definitely way heavier and richer, bordering on headache inducing if too heavily applied. The EDT is a bit fruitier and fresher. For lovers of heavy fumes the EDT is great for summer. I'm still loyal to the original HM but I REALLY like this. Its nice to have a cool weather fruit scent in my collection and a fruity scent that is elegant for evenings.

I reviewed this forever ago in 2008, so it's about time I revisit this, since I finally bought a bottle of this in its EDP form! (Took a while, huh?) I have a sample of the EDT, and the lasting power is nowhere near as good as the EDP, of course. Magical Moon is a gothic lullaby. Like fresh, homemade marshmallows in your cottage home, with sandalwood incense burning in every room. Moonlight is coming through the window, slightly obscured by the cedar trees reaching for its lunar essence. The scent of the cedar trees is mingling with the incense, and there couldn't be a better evening to wrap up in a freshly laundered blanket, while pondering the magic of a comfortable, peaceful midnight alone. I get the most out of the middle and base notes. The fruit is there, but they are very gentle. The strongest note on me is the sandalwood. Magical Moon EDP is basically a metaphorical comfort blanket for me, which I wear when I need soothing. Dreamy, sweet, and alluring. Note: This is not discontinued. You can find it on the official Hanae Mori Parfums website for a good price - and it only took 4 days for it to come from France to Texas!

At first spray you get a blast of a scent of sugarcain and a warm scent of coconut oil reminisent of ancient Egpyt when they massage it into thier hair. in a few minutes the sweet scent of guava and the semi-tangness of starfruit to make it presence to the senses hard to notice the orange blossoms. the drydown is the greatest esoteric masterpiece with the offering of rose note to the to the Goddess Isis The Goddess of Love Aphroditie and the mother goddess Uma. the flower of feminity. and the veil of sandalwood dances around giving thanks for the creators for the fertilty. the patchouli is very soft and mild. with one spray Riding though the deserts of egypt and the color of the flacon of Dark Lapis represent the Twilight sky driving though the pyrimids and the big Giant sphinx glowing it's errie glow so you with in your curiousity with a flashlight into the tombs of the ancient masters and try to deschyper the most famous of their whrighing the Hierglyphics and into the dark caves where the mysterious & Ominious moans appear This will give you an Spirital Awakining.

Whaddaya know, Magical Mood had its redemption arc pretty quickly. Eureka! It pairs well with warm climate and high humidity specifically which is what I've had for a while now. In these conditions I get smooth woods coming through and a more complex coniferous incense scent with hints of guava and osmanthus and something indescribably exotic which makes me think of amazon rainforests after the rain. Maybe garden of Eden too. The first woman. All kinds of unfamiliar mystical places. It still pulls partially bitter but not repulsively so, and it leaves a faint trail that's like if your own skin were an aphrodisiac. I'm very interested in trying out the EDP now since EDT underperforms in every scenario. But high humidity is kind of a must for this one, I'm talking at least 80% in my experience. I started testing it out during the heatwave and it wasn't working for me at all. Then vs now is like night and day. This is something Debbie Jellinsky would wear during her Addams marriage, a perfect blend of Malibu Barbie and black widow. I love.

Whether you like it or not, this scent is memorable and unique. The first time I sniffed it, I was in college and just couldn't appreciate it, even though Butterfly by HM was my favorite. When I smelled it years later, I was intrigued--I kept thinking about it until I found a great deal online and had to buy it. To me, it smells like dried pineapple and other tropical fruits, incense, and a hint of a very dry vanilla. There is nothing wet or glowing about this scent--it's very dry and makes me think of white sand beaches under a dark, star-filled sky. The sillage and longevity are above average. And on another note, I sprayed Mariah Carey M on one wrist and Magical Moon on the other to see how similar their incense notes are, and they are definitely related. M is very sugary, but if you took that away and added a pinch more dry fruits, they would be fairly similar. So if you liked the incense note in M but found it too sweet, try Magical Moon!

I adore the EDT version of this scent which feels sweet and balanced as it dries down. (I found the EDP nauseating for some reason.) But this scent is really only best in cold weather for me! In warm weather, the tropical fruits in the top notes, and the coconut/sandalwood in the base notes become too intense on my skin, and that can feel a little suffocating. But in cold weather, everything feels in perfect balance, and the incense note really comes out to soften the scent. For some reason, I cannot sense Magical Moon's incense note in warm weather, although that's when I usually prefer my other incense scents! I also can't really categorize this as a floral-oriental on my skin. To me, it is fully oriental, and not one I want to go without during any winter in the foreseeable future. The EDT also has massive sillage (especially in the beginning) and excellent longevity, so not many sprays are needed!

Magical Moon EDP was my very first perfume, purchased years ago when it first came out. I bought it blind. Mainly because I liked the pretty bottle... heh. This is a linear, very dense "oriental gourmand" perfume that starts off very girly and ends on a surprisingly grown-up note. It's the olfactory equivalent of a pink tweed skirt suit and smells like a dessert. The sugary lychee top note is very strong, but doesn't last long. The main scent is creamy-tropical-floral -- coconut, vanilla and rose (it reminds me of rose syrup and coconut ice cream) that's layered over a very pronounced and long-lasting sandalwood and patchouli base. Putting rose and coconut next to sandalwood may seem a bit weird, but I think the transition is quite smooth for Magical Moon. The EDP is super strong stuff and 2 to 3 sprays will last you most of the day. Projection is not bad too. I'm very fond of this perfume.

WOW! I just received this bottle out of blind buying it the other day and, boy, this is nothing short of amazing, extraordinary, superb, etc. This is me in a bottle. If anyone ever asked me, what would I be if I were a perfume, I would probably say this one. I have it on right now. It is very complex, mysterious, totally night potion. This is heavy, syrupy, a magical concoction of seductive witchery. This is a femme Fatale, but not an obvious one. This one lurks in the night, watching. She's very smart, she waits in the dark; she waits for her man to be at his most vulnerable, then she takes action when he's free and no one is around. This is The Phantom of the Opera in female form. The night, the drama, oh I'm in love. The bottle, the name, the scent, all are dead on, even the font on the bottle with the way it curves up, all add to the allure of the fragrance.

Beautifully composed, a sophisticated, definitely adult perfume which is much more about the flowers and the woods than the fruit and the dessert. The initial scent after spraying is somewhat odd (the fruit cocktail madness?), but it develops quickly and fabulously into an original and beautiful osmanthus, woods and incense perfume, which I can easily see myself repurchasing. An utterly lovely summer nights perfume, with a pleasant surprise in the packaging - this is the only bottle in the contemporary part of my perfume collection that has a GLASS top - a sapphire glass flattened ball with a moon imprint - and the only glass top I have seen in ages! Fabulous - a 9/10 for the scent, sillage and lasting power, as well as the added touch of the real glass moon on the stopper.

Ohhhh...I ordered Magical Moon without trying it on first and was worried that it will not be something I expected.But it turned out to be a magic in a bottle! It is definitely a perfume with a little bit of potion in it.Though it is very sweet and luscious, there is a certain bitter note in it - may be it`s juniper, that doesn`t let it become yet another dessert perfume. Instead of sweet tooth thoughts, I see a valley under a full moon,aromatic herbs and flowers galore,some secret witch celebration of the moon power,where their potions and balms are being made right there, over fire pits.Juniper note I see as a circle of tall dark cypresses surrounding the valley. I honestly have a warm sensation on my skin when wearing Magical Moon - what else can it be other then magic?

What a good day to try my sample of Magical Moon under a Capricorn full moon and eclipse! Magical Moon was supposedly made under a full moon and since I have a love for astrology and the moon phases I was automatically drawn in and intrigued by the potion! For me Magical Moon has the same powdery notes as Butterfly, very soft and feminine but this has more of a "dark" side. The bottom notes appear rather quick for me...patchouli, vanilla, sugarcane and coconut milk. All the notes are blended well, caressing instead of harsh and not one standing out more than the other. It smells like sweet and powdery incense. I really love this and feel "magical" wearing it! Maybe I'll have some good luck under this full moon. I need it... :)

yee haa ... i finally got this thanks to my friend going overseas .mmmmmmmmmmm... its amazing . First you get incense , sandalwood then as time goes on the fruit appears , it is magic as notes do appear at different times ,and the dry down is so beautiful . It suits its name down to the ground !!! It is a soothing and sensual fragrance. It has a slight 'new age ' feel to it at the start thanks to the sandalwood incense which at first makes you feel a bit like Stevie Nicks (I DO LOVE HER) But as the other notes reveal themselves you are left with a unique beautiful fragrance which i am very very happy is now on my dresser!!!..

Okay. This is sexy night out. Really, really great. The incense is not too much - just right. The whole blend is complex, perfectly balanced and fantastic. This was a blind buy for me, and I am so glad. This is the EDT. I don’t find it too be too fruity or too light. I was wary when I read some reviews that mentioned menthol. No menthol. They are smelling cedar, sandalwood and patchouli. All great notes on me. If you like Kenzo fragrances, this will not disappoint. I love Kenzo fragrances. Classy. Sexy. Attraction-grabbing. It does smell like a temptress. Not age specific - just need to be confident enough to wear it.

I think I like it! It's pretty easy to wear. The incense is kind of heavy but the fruitness makes it a bit more fun. The fruit to me = raisins? There's something about it the reminds me of HM Butterfly but I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyways, it's not bad and kind of grows on you. Possibly going to get a full bottle! Update: the dry down is glorious creamy grown-up tropical! This is getting added to my collection on pay day! Absolutely stunning! You did it again, Hanae Mori and executed a beautifully blended and feminine scent that makes me swoon!

I blind bought this at a steal. I've worn it for a solid week and I'm loving it. Such a beautiful smokey, spicy concoction! I don't get fruit, I get incense, spicy cinnamon. There is a softness that is just divine. It works beautifully on my skin. The sillage is good and it lasts about 5 hours. I have gotten several compliments on it! I don't know how it will do in the hot, humid weather of summer but for the cold right now, it's perfect. Very much a comfort scent for me. Love it, love it!

I adore the way the pineapple note presents in Magical Moon. On my skin juicy pineapple overrides lychee and starfruit, but, the hidden fruits lend a depth to the early evolution creating something arresting and addictive. From the deliciously pulpy opening Magical Moon morphs into "camphorous" cedar and "camphorous" incense (slightly off-putting) temporarily. The candied components rescue MM on my skin thankfully. Magical Moon exalts feminine romanticism. A most pleasing acquisition.

I received a sample of this in a swap and once I got around to finally trying it, I knew I had to get a bottle. This is so beautiful. It's another fragrance I think I will always keep in my collection; it's different. The inscense smell in this blends beautifully with the fruity notes. It doesn't smell rotten or overdone, it just smells sensual. It's deep without being cloying or over-bearing; in fact, although it is deep, it's also capable of being uplifting. I'm in loooove.

I am so in love with this scent. It is like nothing else. It is softly smoky, ripe fruits,a very light amber,oh I just try to breathe it all in!On my skin,it smells creamy and a little tea like,a little fruit is there, which is slightly tart,and hazy soft incense smoke.When I wear this,I not only smell it,I FEEL it. It is a very special and unique scent of love and mystics. I have a vegan replica (no animal ingredients) of this from a wonderful online seller.

Fruits, incense and musks and a whole lot of other stuff.Is this a good thing? I have not made my mind up yet. What I get is a soft musy amber scent, with the incense wafting through the musk like wisps of smoke. This is the great part. The not so great part is the fruits and sugar. I think this makes the 'fume 'stale' and old (as in gone bad) smelling.

Wow. I tried this for the first time and it's a new perfume on my top 5 for buying. The notes blend together so well. It's beautiful and sensual. Sweet, warm, intense, mysterious, and especially romantic. I'm taken over by the sandal wood in it, it's absolutely amazing. Smoky and seductive. I would say this is an occasional wear, nice night scent.

this scent is definitely unusual, but i love it! it changes constantly throughout the day and i just can't stop smelling my wrist. I smell alot of the patchouli which i love, and also the coconut vanilla. At first spray it is a bit overwhelming, but it quickly mellows and envelopes me with a lovely, feminine aura. :)

Smells magical, almost spooky. It's my favorite scent. You can definitely smell the incense. I've been in love with this since it came out. It smells expensive too. Very mystical and dark, like the stars and moon above. It smells exactly like what it's called. I love hanae mori perfume.

edp The name describes the scent perfectly. It is indeed m...a...g...i...c...a...l... It is the most beautiful feminine creamy sandalwood I have ever smelled! I find most sandalwood fragrances either masculine if not unisex. Not with Magical Moon! This is femininity in a bottle.

Magical Moon totally surprised me. When I first applied it, I thought, eh, pretty nice. The dry-down is really, magical. I love it so much that I think I'll track down a bottle of the edp. So Pretty... smoky, vanilla, fruity, yummy stuff. Somehow it all works beautifully on me.

All I smell is a big blast of rubbing alcohol. Shame bc I was so looking forward to this scent described as dark and Gothic.

This review is for the Parfum. Reviews for this fragrance are really mixed, some say its a rotten fruit smell, others a smokey comforting scent. My impression is that the EDT has more of the fruit notes in it (and therefore more of the rotten fruit people say they are smelling) and the EDP has more smoke. I've never smelled either so I can't tell you my judgement, but the Parfum begins as a rather confusing mix of both at first, and then drys down to something pretty and soft. Much like what I imagine the EDP smells like. At first spray I was utterly befuddled by this scent. My brain was sending out simultaneous messages of disgust and "Oh, how pretty." And there is something very pretty about this scent. Its like a smokey take on Sweet Tarts candy. If you've ever had them you know they have a soft, baby powdered sugar scent with a pop of tartness all blended together. There's something really comforting here too, almost like clothes fresh out of the dryer. If you smell this from afar its a really pretty, comforting scent. But the closer you get to application point is when the problems start happening. While this has got a powdered sugar, soft and smokey sweetness to it, along with that freshly washed and dried clothes scent, there's something... rotten happening with the tartness. If it was possible to have a clean rotted fruit scent, then I guess that's what this has managed. Its not a full out ripe rotten fruit, but its the tartness of that rot. Sounds disgusting, I know, and that's where this can be off putting. Thankfully, it fades as time goes by, but if you're really sensitive to fragrances your nose will probably be picking it up. Eventually it becomes just a pretty scent, smokey Sweet Tarts and clean laundry, and rather soft. Its very comforting and warm. A very interesting fragrance and surprisingly wearable.

When I got my sample of Magical Moon I was a little disappointed. I imagined a mystical explosion of all these exotic notes, but this scent is not quite that. It's not bad or boring, just much softer and brighter than I thought it would be. If you want to link it to the name, it's like the shimmering light of a big moon on a clear night, without the darkness around it. I really get the fruit notes in this: Starfruit, pineapple, guava, coconut and lychee, in this order, starting with the most intense. They're tart and fresh. I only get a light hint of incense in the opening, I thought this would be smokier. Pink pepper is really dominant, it starts out woody and fresh and then turns fiery and warm on my skin. Sweet vanilla and patchouli are always present as a base in the background. Unfortunately I get a clean, laundry-like scent in the mid notes that doesn't mesh with the rest of the scent. I suspect this is meant to be the cotton flower or maybe it's just musk. In the final drydown that's gone though and I'm left with a pleasant creamy, peppered vanilla scent. So, all in all Magical Moon is a nice fragrance especially for those who are looking for a warm summer option. Sweet, fresh, fruity, powdery and a little spicy. It has interesting layers of different notes, but it's not as bold, deep or night-timey of fragrance as the dark blue bottle suggests. Edit: This review is about the EDT, I haven't tried the EDP.

I received it in a Parfum form, at last...What can I say. I'm thrilled! I'm in love! At last, an unsniffed purchase that was better than I could ever dare to imagine. Everything with it is so perfect. I received this a couple of hours ago, so maybe I will need to edit my review later! The bottle is the most beautiful I've ever seen, so much more in reality than in pictures. It has a beautiful violet-blue colour and silver letters. The cap is fantastic, a jewel on its' own. I agree that when first sprayed it gives the impression of an old lady scent, or bug spray. But the good thing is that these top notes disappear rather quickly, giving place to a wonderful fumey, exotic,sweet balsmanic scent. As lovely as it sounds! In the background I can feel the incense, warm and smokey with a wonderful sweetness, and also I can feel wood notes. The coconut is also quite dominant .My skin tends to bring out coconut notes, and let me tell you, I haven't smelled such a good quality of coconut in a perfume - so milky, exotic and tender. Maybe it's the combination with the sugar, who knows? Finally I can smell herbal notes drifting in and out at times, that give the perfume another dimension, really magical. It's more of a nighttime scent, but I can see my self wearing it in small doses the cold days of winter..

Testing EDP & edt side by side. EDP is (a lot) more incense & sweet pink pepper, Actually a creamy pink ppr vibe reminiscent of Signorina (-the berry) in the drydown. The edt has more fruit (pineapple/litchi mostly on me) and is sweeter, less incense/ppr. Honestly they're pretty different scents on me in the drydown. Edt didn't last as long otherwise I think I'd actually prefer it. Also the incense type reminds me of that in L'Agent (just that note) & it's deliciously warm and smoky, with no sharp, soapy tones like some incense. Will restest but if sillage/longevity remain the same I'll have to skip a fb; close to skin after 30 mins and only 4 hrs tops is a deal breaker usually... But it is lovely, warm, sweet, and inviting! Because the EDP reminds me of elements of 2 I already own I'd probably go with the edt but both are great. EDIT to ADD: After testing em side by side no less than 3x, I prefer the EDP by a smidge. It's richer and creamier smokiness wins in my book by juuust that much over the sharper (but not in a bad way) citrus fruit appearances of the EDT. Also, if you've smelled B&BW Sea Island Cotton & other such 'cotton' scents, the EDT has more of that just-out-of-the-drier fabric softened cotton synthetic than the EDP. (Not a bad thing, just different!)

Magical moon is such a strange scent for me. It's so unique and I want to love it so badly. Every once in a while, if I'm in the right mood, I do totally love it for a few moments, but most of the time it is a bit too sweet and too much, a bit sickening. I think I'd probably prefer smelling it on someone else, rather than having it around me like a thick cloud that I often end up wanting to escape. I don't know if I'm just fooled by the name, but it somehow reminds me just a little bit of sun, moon and stars by lagerfeld. They both sort of suit a mystical but sweet female. And honestly, I almost do feel tempted to try it while dancing naked under a full moon!(sun, moon and stars did not have that effect on me!). There is something magical and a little "witchy" about it, and it's so heavy that I think you'd have to be pretty confidend -maybe even a little different/special- to pull it of (I mean that in a good way!) It would totally fit someone who uses tarot cards and gemstones, like myself, unfortunately it just doesn't rock my world. But, I'm not giving up on it and I will continue to use it on those special occasions where I find it suited and when it's enticing and magical properties lures me to apply some

Softer, lighter, more feminine relative of EL Sensous Noir. This is very sweet above all else. Rotten tropical fruit is pretty accurate, but I don't use that description in a completely negative way. It's fruit on the verge of turning into after dinner Ruby port wine. However, there's a heavy sandalwood and incense too. This almost gives the composition a sweet, dusty herbal hay note. The coconut and vanilla give it a heavy creaminess I can't decide if I like or not. It's a bizarre scent caught somewhere between tropical fruity and dark, heavy mysterious incense, patchouli and sandalwood. One minute you're eating fruit on the beach and the next you're ripped through a hole in time and tumble into the middle of a gathering of witches chanting in a circle in a medieval forest. I think this scent would be appropriate for Halloween. It would probably kill people if you tried to wear it in summer heat. I know this review seems negative but it's really not. I do like the scent even though I think it's confused. I purchased from the company website recently so it's not been discontinued.

I have been on the fence about this one. I like it, but well enough to keep? I wore it to church this morning. I didn't remember anything about the note pyramid except powder, guava, musk, and patchouli, and it is very sweet. Kind of artificially so, but well-done also. The weather was warm enough to wear a sleeveless mid-thigh dress, which I wore with a pair of full-length leggings, and sandals. It wasn't cloying and I probably oversprayed. I think this one would be best reserved for the very end of summer and the beginning of fall, onward through the end of winter. I'm not sure how often I'd wear it, because it's not quite my style, although it really is very nice, and I'm less likely to sell than I had been. (Side note, I hadn't thought that this one and Belle d'opium reminded me of each other... but, coincidentally, I almost wore Belle d'Opium today, and another I almost wore today was Blv Notte pour femme. In some ways Magical moon strikes a middle territory between those two, due to the powder note MM shares with BN, and the fruity notes that MM and BdO share.)

I am so happy to finally own a bottle of this. It's like this- imagine being a sailor on a boat passing along different shores in the summer night. You encounter a very beautiful, mysterious, mystical siren. She is perched up on a rock, singing a haunting but soothing and familiar song while watching your boat float on the waves of the sea. She has long, flowy dark hair that blends into the seaweed around the rocks in the water. Her pupils glisten slightly gold-tinged, reflecting the stars that are peppered all across a cloudless sky. Warm little gusts of air carry droplets of the ocean water toward the sky, and you are captivated by all the beauty surrounding this gorgeous creature. As you stare into her eyes, you also catch sight of the full moon behind her silhouette, as if she is encased in a halo of light. As you continue to drift calmly on the water, she lulls you closer until you fall into her slender, ivory arms catching whiffs of coconut, musk, and incense.

I love the candlewax note in this. I want to say its akin to a scent of dragonfruit, mulberry and /or cider candles, but its not exactly any of those. I can't get the description quite right. It is probably scented by the tropical fruit notes listed, of course, but I'm just not familiar with them. There's a nice vanilla here too-I'm glad I'm not picking up on the babypowder note that another reviewer mentions in her very descriptive and well written review. Ordinarily I wouldn't want this much sandalwood in the drydown (sandal and even sandal-vanilla often get a stinky tone on me. But Moon's drydown is fine; the sandal is somehow cleaned up for me by the incense and tart fruits (I agree with those reviewers who spoke of dried fruits). I love the beginning 20 minutes best. I find Magical Moon to be beautiful and mystical and very romantic ( like in an Americana kind of way. Like a Norman Rockwell, joyful young love and drive-in movies kind of way.) For the EDT

Another reliable "like" from Hanae Mori. For me it opens immediately with litchi and a very soft pleasant orange blossom. Osmanthus and sandalwood develop as soon as it warms. After about 45 minutes it settles into a sweet incense scent with the sweetness having the green note of raw sugar cane. I'm wearing the EDP formulation and after several hours I still haven't found the pineapple, pepper or coconut. Reading through other reviews makes it obvious that this one is unusually dependent on body chemistry. If you like the "butterfly" scent you'll certainly like this one. Since this is the night before the Super Bowl I'll try a football analogy: a solid reliable linebacker but not an explosive receiver. GO STEELERS! I have been dying to try this out since I first learned about in a perfume collection video on youtube which I can't find anymore. So finally I decided to take a risk and blind buy after I would purchase another perfume and think to myself "yeah it's great but I still want to know what Magical Moon is like." With the listed accords and the name that drew me in, I was ready for this to be my signature scent. In reality, it is not exactly what I expected. I don't get any tropical fruitiness. However the vanilla and incense is definitely present and after giving it a few days, I'm enjoying wearing it more and more. I would not necessarily say it is a favorite (yet), but it's unique for me, very fall appropriate without being too heavy, and for some reason I associate this with the lovable movie Practical Magic.

this perfume truly lives up to its name. it smells like the inside of a warm, witchy (perhaps even fairylike?) cabin on a mystical, cool night. maybe the window is open, but you are safe by the brew on the fire. where other scents are straightforward, this one pulls something out of you - your nose starts following it - what is that??? it smells good, but it’s abnormal. it is a very strong scent in my opinion, it does not blend with your natural human scents, it just overpowers them. other users have described this as “sexy” and i disagree very much. it is mysterious to be sure, which i suppose some people find sexy inherently, but it is more of a cloaked stranger, someone in the dark. they are inviting, a little aloof, and seem kind, but they stand tall, and always have a little tricky grin.
