Barbershop

This is a masterpiece for people like me who enjoy wetshaving. I understand that some people may feel that certain fragrances shouldn't be limited to an age or gender, although I feel this is targeted for an older (35+ years of age) who are in the wetshaving community. Some have compared this to At the Barbers, although I somewhat disagree. At the Barbers was not special to me, although the first time I smelled this I felt invigorated. This has been a fragrance I have worn 2 weeks straight. See, I love my bay rums, and fragrances that aren't cloying, but masculine. The first note that hit me was the bitter orange. Bitter Orange happens to be my favorite note in all of fragrances. Bitter orange uplifts my mood, as the truth is I battle with anxiety and depression. This fragrance just instantly is like taking a prescribed medicine that bumps up my serotonin levels. The bitter orange stays with the fragrance for a solid 3 hours of the fragrance probably due to the ambroxan amping it up. After that stage, the lavender takes over (also assists me with depression), and combined with a hint of leather, there is an invigorating feeling that helps me throughout the day. There is almost like a mentholated vibe I get. I spray 2 shots on the inside of my elbow when I'm feeling a little down, and this fragrance alone gives me a kickstart to go to the gym. Projection and longevity are extreme. I would say 10 hours, as this is considered a pure parfum or an extrait. If you want to have a mature fragrance that isn't annoying, and is a projection monster, this is the fragrance for you. If you're tired of wearing Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, but feel sometimes, it's a little dated, this is for you. Personally, I don't feel Paco Rabanne Pour Homme is dated, but Paco Rabanne Pour Homme can be very cloying during the summer months. I can wear this fragrance anytime. Happyland Studios Barbershop is invigorating.

Happyland Studio Fragrances Barbershop is among my very favorites from this house on the rise, a scent that conjures a barbershop cleanly and effectively without becoming tied too strongly to any of the notes. I initially characterized it as being leather/musk-intensive but I’m getting more of the nuances—lavender, ambroxan, pepper, orange—with further wearings. That it lacks oakmoss actually makes it a refreshing departure from other barbershop/fougere-type scents. It’s clean and soapy without being terribly floral; it’s musky and leathery without being particularly animalic; and has slightly sweet and spicy touches without those taking over the scent. Overall, a really nice, easily wearable blend. It’s highly versatile—perhaps the most versatile fragrance in the house, to date, in my opinion—and a clear nod to classic men’s fragrances, and in that respect, an easy winner for most men, I imagine, but also something that some women might enjoy. Simply put, it performs quite well and its pricing, as with the other perfumes in the line, is very reasonable ($50 for 50ml, $35 for 30ml, and there are often promo codes), and there’s free shipping in the US, Puerto Rico, USVI, and Guam. There’s also a solid perfume option for Barbershop (and other fragrances in the line) that predictably is a bit denser and creamier, but it’s also slightly sweeter (like more sweet-cinnamon-leaning) in case that sounds appealing. I definitely lean more toward spray rather than solid perfumes, myself, but the solid Barbershop is very well done so I’d recommend giving some solids a try, at least from Happyland. 8 out of 10

I have a sample but I'm going to buy a bottle...I like "barbershop" scents and have several. I decided to give this one a whirl. First spray, I thought, "Meh. It's okay, and do I really need another barbershop scent?" But then, after dry down, I'm like, "This is really nice, and it reminds me of something." Actually, two things. First, it's similar to Replica At the Barber's by Maison Martin Margiela, with an added clean/medicinal note that's very pleasant. Second, it is also reminds me of the scent of Nor'Easter after shave from Captain's Choice, which I like and use regularly during summer months. Believe me, while this Happyland offering stands on its own very well (great longevity and sillage) and I recommend highly, it also pairs amazingly well with the Nor'Easter after shave, which is exactly what I plan to do. Winner, winner, chicken dinner, Happyland (and Captain's Choice)!

A stellar release from EJ Wells, a realistic take on the barbershop scene. Separates itself from the other barbershop frags out there. You really get that sharp leather upfront and it really creates some depth.. Absolutely worth trying.

Just get this, I mean honestly. The juice is the strongest from the house IMO and smells clean, rugged and unique from everything else out there. If you want to stand out and smell great alllll day, then look no further.

Paco Rabonne on steroids with leather and pepper. Once it settles, it’s very soapy with a nice leathery suede note. I don’t get the “gasoline” comparison, but any real leather smell has an oily context. As a fougere’, that is what differentiates it from Poco Rabonnne or Azzaro for Men and makes it more interesting. It’s a great daytime wear, not intended for metro-sexuals, clubbing twenty-something’s, frat boys or if your first name is Bryce. If that describes you, steer clear. On the other hand, if you are a tradesman, ranch hand, fireman or the like, it says “you” right on the label. It’s great to wear for a dinner out at Longhorn Steakhouse if you’re man enough😎 I read all the negative reviews and think it must be a bad reaction to some people’s skin chemistry. This one dries down smooth and very masculine on my skin. Scent 7.5 Performance 8 Sillage 7

Soapy clean shaving soap that steadily picks up a modest smoky leather as it dries down. A fairly dry lather with a light touch of green, perhaps from the orange or the lavender in the absence of any typical green notes. Moderately strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 8-10hr. Somewhat similar to Drakkar Noir or Rogue Bon Monsieur but less green and less wet. More of a froth of bar soap suds than a dollop of canned shaving foam.

Received my Happyland sample of Barbershop and l really like this fragrance. It has quite a spicy opening but after the dry down it's really nice. Very masculine and l think it could be worn all year long if you just go lighter on the sprays during the high heat season. Great longevity and sillage!

This is also a like, it's pleasant enough I suppose but it has a little bit of a weird smelling base.

Borderline awful, or average. At worst, smells like a sneaker sweatshop. At best, aftershave. Overpoweringly mediocre ingredients. Smells like soap that was made in a patch of synthetic violet leaf, bay leaf and basil. 🤢 Straight up mosquito 🦟 spray. Eau De BUGOFF.

Very polarizing. I think it is very loud and bombastic. The aftershave that he made in combination is much better IMHO.

Some gasoline and metallic lavender. Real weird tbh.

For a Fougere, this is a huge pass for me. I like a number of Happyland’s offerings and enjoy Fougere fragrances...but not here. I find the opening way to harsh...almost similar to a urinal cake (that pink thing). There is no pleasant blast of lavender off the top, no creamy anything at any point. Seeing how I can’t really pull out any specific note...I could say it is well blended, but just not at a good note combo. As all of their fragrances, longevity and projection is above average. Get a sample and get your own opinion...but a pass for me.

I've been searching for the perfect barbershop scent for a while, but it's strange and somewhat frustrating how out of the ones I've tried none can smell as good as actual shaving cream (Harry's for example). In the case of this perfume, I can't get past the overpowering leather notes. I suspect it's saffron and suede (Safraleine and suederal?), but whatever they are, they are dominating the rest. By a long shot. Tenacity is strong as others have mentioned.

It is not an upbeat "Fresh out the Barber's chair" scent. I dont like it.

The opening of this is just awful; smells like bunt rubber dipped in chemicals, unreasonably harsh. It gets slightly better, but some of that rubbery chemical smell remains in the background. I thought my sample went bad until I got my nose on another one; same awful opening. This is the worst release out of the ten I've worn from the house. I had to scrub it off and take a couple Advil.

Awkward & bizarre. Its as if someone dropped cheap clone oils in a tray of paint thinner.

This is one that you must have in your collection if you are into barbershop types of fragrances. This is a very manly barbershop smell with leather coming through, but the dominance is the barbershop smell. This has nuclear longevity & is an attention grabber. You can not hide when you are wearing this and you will draw attention. Trust me, no need to obtain a sample of this. You just need to buy a bottle and enjoy. This is very versatile & great for the office or evening wear. Be carful with the sprays as it is very powerful juice.

This here is one of the most repulsive and over the top barbershop scents out there. So much so it gave me a gag reflex until I washed it off. Much better barbershop fragrances out there and at a better price. If you do decide to try this one sample first. You will thank me later.

Very nice scent...powerful performance..mostly I get the leather aspect of this fragrance and a little orange, more the feel of being in a leather shoemaker boutique than in a barbershop for me anyway. 8/10

Happyland is not a barbershop. It smells like Dial soap. Then it smells like gasoline. It smells like I got gasoline all over me and then tried to wash it off with Dial soap.

Amazing fragrance.. the best barbershop in the game, and I’ll never be without it
