Plum Loco

I have the big bottle, but I can remember when I 1st sprayed my sample. I said 'OH WOW"!!! This fragrance caught me off guard and immediately demanded my attention! I have tried them all except cuir Cafe, and Plum Loco is my favorite, hands down, no questions about it. I know I'm in the minority on this one but this is a scent that resonates with me. While I'm in no way a niche snob, this has a semi-mass appeal but niche quality to it. Decent performance as far as sillage and longevity are concerned. I get a sweet plum that wants to be juicy but is tamed by the leather, well blended and very intoxicating. If you were to own a dried fruits store that was right next to a Wilson leather store you would come close to this masterpiece right here. I find the ingredients to be very natural smelling, very well blended, and price per mil considering performance is A+ outstanding! Bravo Mr. Wells, Bravo! A definite 10/10 Although this is a personal preference, sample first! Signature would be blind buy worthy in my opinion! THIS HOUSE IS OUTSTANDING!!!

Sampled Plum Loco today for the first time. I really like it ! It's smooth and a just a hint sweet. Perfectly blended. I get the plum, wood/oud, leather, saffron, and amber. The notes are well balanced, with a slight plum lead. It's got a TF Tuscan Leather vibe, but not the same. Not getting the cinnamon note, but that is good. I'm sure its in there somewhere. Long life, moderate projection, office safe. I could wear all year, except in really high heat of summer. But this would be great for any season in evening. I've got to get a full bottle. Highly recommend for the price. So glad I got a sample to try.

holy crap, leather and plum, rich, dark and lovely; mainly leather on the spray but the plum and leather do a dance and then the woods come in to play; not too sweet, not too dry, a nice balance but I wish the plum stayed around a bit longer, the dry woods and leather take over, on the final drydown many many hours later it remains a faint whisp of plum on the skin; glad I bought this one

It's a beautiful plum mixed with a relatively smooth leather. It's got an awesome performer and the price of these fragrances is unbeatable.

Happyland Studio Fragrances Plum Loco is an innovative sweet and dirty mix featuring plum and leather, primarily, the duality and contrast of those two notes being the signature of this fragrance in the way the coffee/leather blend defines Cuir Café, I’d say. Plum Loco is unsurprisingly sweeter, the coffee in Cuir Café being traded out for the sweeter, juicier, and often slightly boozy plum. Beyond the plum and leather, there is an herbal, spicy quality from the saffron that supports the leather, with creamy benzoin/amber and floral jasmine to round things out, though I don’t regard Plum Loco as heavily resinous, let alone floral. The saffron is really the third place winner after the plum and loco front-and-center, I’d say. Plum Loco is yet another neat creation from perfumer/owner E.J. Wells, perhaps one of the most popular releases after Rhyolite and Cuir Café, which I estimate to be his two biggest sellers, but Plum Loco is clearly unisex, while appealing to the fans of both sweet and animalic fragrances, though seemingly being the biggest winner for men who want something artistic and bold but readily wearable and not too extreme in any one way. Plum Loco has the same standard pricing as the rest of the line, $50 for 50ml and $35 for 30ml, sometimes with further discounts, very reasonable within the indie perfume world, particularly for high-performing, high-concentration (extrait) juice. And it’s affordable to sample, whether individually or (especially) as part of a sample pack. I conclude that for me, Plum Loco is highly interesting but not quite as much of a personal match for me as my current “big four” from the brand (Se7en, Happyland Signature, Homme for the Holidays, Barbershop), and I’d still grade Rhyolite above it. But uniqueness-wise, Plum Loco may be near the top of the list, so I’d highly recommend trying it. 7 out of 10

While I enjoy this perfume, I'm afraid my experience with the depth and performance of Happyland Plum Loco does not comport with those of previous reviewers. It's pleasant - plummy, leathery, and spicy, as promised - but not what I would call a 'rich' or 'luxurious smell,' nor is it strong or long lasting on my skin. Compared side by side by side with TF Tuscan Leather, Ombre Leather 16, an Ombre Leather replica CPO, Plum Japonais, and Tobacco Oud, PL smells markedly 'light' and lacking in complexity. I wouldn't be surprised if a commercially available Ombre Leather replica was used as the base for the composition, so reminiscent is the leather accord. The additional plum top and ambroxan base are the only notable differences in PL. For what it's worth, TF Plum Japonais (a longtime fave) seems to be composed on the same base as Tobacco Oud. Those dark boozy resinous notes are missing in Plum Loco. Of course TF fragrances are eaux de parfum retailing at quadruple the quite reasonable cost of Happyland perfumes, which are marketed as 'perfume extracts.' The difference in quality is commensurate - if you choose this fragrance you will not be getting a bargain. Samples are inexpensive and easy to get. Possibly full bottle worthy, but sitting fairly low on the acquisition list.

Plum Loco's blend balances all of the Leather, Plum, Saffron and Cinnamon notes quite interestingly. Upon initial spray, I get a dry leather, very reminiscent of TF Tuscan Leather, but then quickly the plum sets in giving the fragrance a nice balance before the saffron and cinnamon kick in rendering the fragrance more sweet. The plum is knows to blend beautifully with dry notes; Oud, Leather, Guaiac, Iris, etc.. because the sweetness of the Plum counters that dry element. I get hints of Plum Japonais here and there, though PJ is a much superior fragrance, both in quality and uniqueness. I think Owner/Perfumer did a good job with this concoction, and I prefer it much much more than Green Irish Tobacco. Projection and Longevity are huge as this fragrance shines in colder months. Verdict - 7/10. I like it

Very ripe, slightly boozy even, muddled plums covering a soft leather and ambery notes. Smooth, sweet fruity leather. Linear drydown, so not much else to say. More reminiscent of Plum in Cognac or Widian London than Tuscan Leather. Moderate projection for 2-3hr before settling into a soft scent bubble, longevity 10-12hr. It's a pleasant enough scent, but I find it falls a little flat compared to its more complex and interesting contemporaries.

The perfect balance of notes in Plum Loco really surprised me in this. Leather and Plum smell that would go great with a leather jacket or even nice suit. Similar to Rasassi La Yuquwam but more playful in good way and the Plum and other notes don't make it a redundant purchase. I haven't even left the house and already got 2 compliments from housemates. Not a very manly scent but is divine!

An intoxicating blend of sweet plum and luxurious leather. This may be my 2nd favorite from the house, Signature is 1st. This is rich and very well blended, it is thick and deep, but very wearable. This is one that I can just keep my nose up to all day and not get tired of it. A wonderful take on mixing fruit with leather that has been done, but this one is so unique and truly delicious. I have noticed this doesn't last as long on me as other offerings such as Paisley Sky or Signature, which is sad. I still get a solid 8 hours, but not the crazy performance I am used to with the others (12+ and into the next day). EJ is a mastermind and absolutely perfects anything he touches, this being no exception. Overall - 8.5/10 EDIT: This one became so strong on my skin I had to get rid of it. Literally, a half spray was too much for my nose, gave me a headache. Nice sweet plum, but the leather in this is pretty animalistic and no joke.

Plum Japonais opening combined with Tuscan leather dry down. Leather is not my favorite, so pass for me. If you like leather, you should enjoy this. Sample before purchase.

So I thought this would be very similar to Andy Warhol. I get more leather than anything. The plum is light in the background. I expected more Plum hence PLUM LOCO. Letting it macerate for 30 days and will update if anything changes. UPDATE ........12/17/21. Sorry for being so late but I just picked it up again today lol. Plum has definitely come through and matured more. To me this is truly an inspiration of Andy Warhol and I'm in total love with Andy Warhol. Paisley Sky inspired BR 540, Shameless inspired by Aventus, but I haven't tried all the offering from the house. Some are original inspirations as well.
