Rhyolite

Happyland Studio Fragrances Rhyolite, briefly known as an Untitled fragrance before adopting its name eventual name, is the very sweetest fragrance in the current Happyland catalogue, nearly a straight-on gourmand with a big smell but neat nuances. To me, Rhyolite is reminiscent of several other fragrances, all of which include oud, though Rhyolite does not—namely, ScentStory 24 Gold, Lattafa Raghba, and Arabian Oud Kalemat. I might just imagine the oud somewhat in Rhyolite as I do in the other fragrances, but even if it were listed, it would clearly be less a part of Rhyolite, pretty much wholly a gourmand, than the others, more oud- and resin-focused. The note listing on the website is honey, almond, vanilla, blueberry, sandalwood, caramel, and white musk, though Fragrantica does different slightly from the website, and lists notes of guaiac and licorice. I far more detect the breakdown listed on the website, myself. To my nose, it’s primarily a creamy, sweet honey-centric with very slight fruity and spicy touches, a fun barrage of various dessert elements while not smelling strongly of any specific food or dessert item, save honey, itself. It’s delicious without being totally gourmand, sweet yet highly wearable, an easy option to cut through the cold but not too overwhelming in warmer weather, I expect. I liken it, albeit crudely, to Happyland Signature but without the tobacco, a more gourmand fragrance overall without the tobacco. I give Happyland Signature the edge over Rhyolite because I personally like tobacco in fragrances, but I imagine that many do not, and some, like me, simply prefer to have both options, so Rhyolite, while not being one of my very favorites, is still on my list to nab a couple bottles of. Like the other Happyland entries that I know and love, Rhyolite performs very well, maybe not quite as well as Happyland Signature or Se7en, but it’s still quite strong, overall. Available at the standard pricing of $50 for 50ml and $35 for 30ml, it’s a great deal, though it can be sampled affordably as well on the website, either individually or with a sample pack of 5ml decants of all currently available fragrances (now 11) for $45, a terrific sampling deal. Who else digs this one? It seems to be one of Happyland’s most popular fragrances, if I had to guess, based on how often it seems to be discussed. 8 out of 10

This is Happyland's take on a kalemat style fragrance. Sticky honey paired with buttery caramel and a pinch of tart blueberry with spicy sandalwood and something that is coming off resinous to my nose. Perhaps incense. Performance is great, like all Happyland fragrances. I get around 9 hours with this one. Some person said this is a skin scent in 20 minutes. I don't see how that is possible. I get 2 hours of projection with it. Don't be fooled by the notes or reviews. This is not a gourmand. This is an oriental fragrance. It's a simply beautiful take on a kalemat and its popularity is rising for good reason.

I agree with @mnadz partially. This does have that blueberry note found in bleeker st. But added with some honey and smooth smooth wood smell. Italica has like a milk accord that’s not found in here and an airfeshener-esk type vibe to it Imagine raghba with an added berry Scent~ 9.9 Projection~9.9 Sillage~ ridiculous Price~ 8.5 This is honestly signature scent worthy. It just smells like "you" if that makes sense

Performance is above average, if looking for beastmode performance I'd recommend "Homme for the holidays" which is also much more full bodied for Fall and Winter. This Fragrance Rhyolite also smells somewhat similar to 24 Gold by scent story with a warm blueberry twist. Good fragrance for the price.

This is a room filling beast. My favorite from the house. PDM Oajan smell similar but that don't project or last long at all. This projects for hours and you can smell it 12 plus hours later. I would say it is nuclear performance like Mancera Red Tobacco is.

Yes, this has nuances of Raghba Wood Intense. It goes on very oud and amber then woods. A sweet, wintery, masculine delight. A little musk. And a little more smokey than Raghba. A very nice Middle Eastern style fragrance.

My favorite Happyland fragrance. Rhyolite smells like the notes in the opening, but I also get a pleasant clean campfire note that nobody else picks up on. The pleasant clean campfire is my favorite part of the drydown.

A great fiery berry woodsy feel that smells great on a Fall evening. The almond powdery sweet accord with sandalwood dry down is perfect.

Warm & Seductive. Fruity, Spicy Oriental. Perfectly Unisex, & One of my favorite cheapies in my collection. Very well crafted by EJ Wells, the opening blasts off with a fruity ^blurberry" sweetness mixing with the honeyed-caramelic-vanillic amber. The fruity sweetness of the "blueberry" dies down into the mid as the said amber accord is the main star in this composition. Earthy sandalwood further accentuates the gooey earthy honeyed-caramel accord. Spices start mixing through as a woody patchouli and I would say a suede-like saffron balances the foresaide sweetness, throughout the mid. The drydown is my favorite part as I get the sweet amber, spicy patchouli/saffron-suede with a slighty smoky/earthy vanillic musk. Lasts on my skin 8 hrs easy with great projection about 2-3 feet through light clothing. I become anosmic to this fragrance as it bobs/sways throughout the day, and my body heat reacts to the scent. It gets a beautiful spicy/sweet/vannillic musk off my clothing into the dry down. Grear office/work fragrance for the Fall/Winter months as it garners me/my father compliments. Compliments do not particularly matter to me, but it will help a day go by better ;p I found it smells better off of my clothing than direct skin... But Overall a good composition by EJ that Im happy to keep in my collection. Cheers from my neck of the woods. Love, Darren The Devil.

Creamy caramel, honeyed amber, and a light smokiness. A delicious warm gourmand. The blueberry smells like wine, imparting a strange but intriguing boozy if not medicinal fruitiness. Moderately strong projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 10-12hr. Sort of a Signature (Tobacco Vanille, Ambre Narguile) and Amberland (Myrrh & Tonka, Grand Soir) tweener, if you compare it to other Happyland fragrances, with the warm gooey honey and blueberry plus the somewhat medicinal overtones.

Think Italica Xerjoff meets Bond 9 Bleeker St....don’t believe me, check the notes of both. This is a sweet caramel/vanilla DNA mixed w/sweet berry. Almond note is dancing around in the back. Took clone oils of these two DNAs and balanced them out to come up with this. For the price, this is a good value. Sweeter fun fragrance with great performance and longevity for colder days.

Of all samples this is by far the weakest! No sillage and becomes a skin scent after 20 minutes. Also, this sample bottle came half full, not sure that means anything but maybe I just got a bad sample.

Got to agree with others. Notes listed above don’t seem right. No gourmand scents, no fruit, no caramel, no vanilla. I get smokey patchouli (reminds me somewhat of a lit cigarette smell) with a bit of honey from the opening through the middle. Smoke smell seems to slowly fade during the dry down. Not what I expected. But it’s definitely something different. The longevity for this fragrance is less than most of Happy lands fragrances. At this point I’m glad I have a sample and not a full bottle. Based on the vastly different reviews I can only conclude Rhyolite may have gotten reformulated at some point.

MMMMMMMM!!! This is wonderful! Similar to Happyland's Signature- this adds more delish/foodie notes and tones down the tobacco of Sig. It doesn't appear that tobacco is a note in Rhyolite- so the vibe must be from the amber and woods/sandalwood. Like all Happyland, this has terrific sillage/potency and I LOVE THE DRYDOWN-- honey incense sandalwood/amber. So good. It's smoky too. Still has some sweet notes in the drydown, again reminding me of the apple pie in Signature. Whatever it is-- it's sublime. (Female winter review) I also see the comparison to 24 Gold. For me, 24 Gold was too oud/chemical, and Happyland Signature had a bit too much masculine tobacco-- so if I'm Goldilocks-- this Rhyolite is my PERFECT PORRIDGE! ;) I disagree this is Happyland's sweetest scent. Homme for the Holidays gets that prize. :)

Musings of a Fraghead is spot on in his review. THE NOTES ARE COMPLETELY BOTCHED. This is not a sweet Gourmand fragrance.This is a Spicy Oriental with almost ZERO sweetness. Think By the Fireplace without the sweetness, or Imaginary Authors A city on fire but a bit more rounded. Edit: I contacted the owner and he assured me that the notes listed on website are the actual ingredients. Somehow though that's definitely not how they come across to me. I think the takeaway here is absolutely sample this one first.

I own GIT, Crevat, Homne for the Holidays and Rhyolite. Rhyolite is my favorite. Fuzzy, blueberry syrup. I was in the library stacks and overheard a woman tell her friend the books smell like pancakes.. As with all Happyland’s the performance is way above average. 8.5/10

Like FoolishSpender this didn't last on me at all. It was nice (though pretty generic) while it lasted but it is long gone.
