Harajuku Lovers Love

I received this perfume for my birthday when I was 16. It is a beautiful scent. It was never my favorite but always draws a TON of compliments from men and women. I have worn it for the past almost 10 years and have not gotten tired of it. The scent always reminded me of sugar, lemon and baby powder but very subtle. If you are looking for a nice everyday scent that is not offensive and will draw compliments, this is the one to choose! Update March 2019: Seeing as how this perfume is discontinued and getting harder and harder to find. As well as more and more expensive. I went ahead and ordered a 3.4 oz tester bottle off eBay for $80. Even though as previously stated, this was never a favorite of mine it is sort of a staple. This is the only floral fresh scent that works on me. I tend to prefer fruity fresh or fruity gourmand scents. I think it’s important for me to have this in my collection because I know it works for me and it’s the one scent I can go to when I want something different than my regulars.

I recently came across a sample set of all 5 scents from the harajuku collection that I’ve most likely had for 15 or more years but never tried. I can’t be sure if the integrity of the scent is still intact but I like what I’m smelling so far. It went on really nice whereas some perfumes go on very chemically and strong and you have to let them sit a little bit before they smell decent. Not this one. I loved it as soon as it came out of the bottle. I was hit with a lot of Rose upfront and then as it dried down I was getting more peach and citrus (which is backwards from what is listed as top notes/middle notes but whatever, my nose smells what it smells!) From other reviews the lasting power is pretty good but for me it was hard to smell anything after just 30 minutes. It could be due to the age of my sample. Too bad it’s discontinued, I’d like to give it another try with a fresh sample.

Give it back to me! The drop I'm savouring in the bottom of the bottle I dug out of my mother's spare room is not enough to satiate my adoration and nostalgic desire for this perfume. An iconic range of the late 2000s/ early 2010s, the design of the bottles is so characteristic of that whimsical 'superflat' Japanese design style of the time, a la Baby Milo, Little Big Planet, Domo, etc. etc. The true predecessor of the Pop Vinyl, but I would trade those soulless mass manufactured landfill fodder for the Harajuku Lovers range any day. So playful and energetic, yet chic. Whenever I smell this particular scent, it transports me into the backseat of my dads car, discman in hand wearing out my 'The Cure Best Of' CD. A trigger scent of childhood bliss. Of course my review is biased and personal, but I don't really care. This is the power of scent, after all!

I just ran out of this, I have been using for over 3 years. Obviously I love this fragrance. It is feminine, but has a real edge. It starts off strong for sure, but within minutes it's a beautiful soft bergamont-rose-vanilla which works awesome for me. It's super deep too, like you're smelling a combination of many many things. Oh, and lasting power is incredible, it's all day for sure. My boyfriend compliments me on it every time I wear, which is almost everyday, even after having smelt it so often. He still says how amazing I smell. I've moved on to new fragrances, but he still talks about this one and asks me to get a new bottle. Don't get me wrong, I love the fragrance, but I needed change. But it won't be out of my life forever. As long as it's still being made, I'll be getting another bottle for it to be my fall-back.

although I've reviewed this fragrance before, I feel that I must leave an updated review. I've been wearing this fragrance on and off for about 10 years and the only reason for not wearing or owning it recently is because it's been discontinued. I can understand why some people don't really care about this fragrance because it's not like it's god's gift to the perfume industry but it has sentimental value to me. As for the fragrance itself, it's really easy to wear because it's such a nice, airy floral with just a little bit of fruityness. I'd describe it as being pretty fresh and clean and pretty. I feel that anyone could wear this and smell really nice doing so.

I tried some of this on paper and my wrist while i was waiting for the lady at the perfume store to write down prices for another scent. I am one of those people that gets sucked in by the flask and this has got to be one of the most adorable flasks i have ever seen ^_^ There was something really special about this fragrance so i thought to myself i'll add it to my 'wish' list when i am back at home. By the time I got home I was completely IN-LOVE and sniffing my wrist and the test strip for the entire night. The next day I went back and made a purchase LOL! I know what fragrance I'll be wearing this summer, this is my new favorite <3

Love is my second favorite after G. first I want to say about the bottles. I heard people calling them tacky and cheap...I think their cute and real collectors items. Gwen knows what sells and whats 'in' and I know all the girls who like japan and all the stuff around it, love these kawaii perfumes. ok about the scent. its a soft, romantic floral fragrance with a slightly fruity intro. its absolutely not too sweet and I really dont get why some people say it smells like bubblegum. weird. anyways Love has the most 'signature' scent potential since it has the most character from all the Harajuku Lovers fragrances

It's weird how people say this is bubblegum sweet as I don't find that to be the case at all. This is a perfume I did not like when I first smelled it but I came to love it. All I can smell is the rose note so it's very warm, a tiny bit spicy and sensuous. Although the longevity is weak, I like it so much I would buy it again. It doesn't hurt that the bottle is adorable. Too bad I never see it in shops anymore.

Can someone please help me? I bought this one online from Frgrancex and not sure if it is authentic. Has anyone had the same issues from Fragrancex? Does this smell like alcohol when you first spray and then fades into a scent very similar to Lamb Gwens first scent? PLEASE HELP me Im thinking I may have got a non authentic tester of Harajuku Lovers Love.

I bought all the harajuku lovers set cos they are so cute to display, and also very nice smell, especially love which is floral and feminine and lil angel which is sweet and candy like. I really love this set of perfume and the idea of making personality for each one of em was......oh blimey what is the exact word to express it? ........Kanpeki Da!

I smelt something very similar when i went to Paris a few years back, this scent takes me back with every sniffle. I am sure it's the pink pomelo and narcissus. My # 1 out of four of these five finger puppet/money suckers. They are all unique and some extraordinary, but not cute enough to be cost worthy this day in age.

i love this one! i just wish it came in a bigger bottle! this is the fourth perfume i have bought at walgreen on sale! it was on clearance for $14. I bought it about a 2 months ago and it is almost gone. I would definatley buy this again! i am a big fan of musk, so this is nice

I didn't know what to think of this when I first smelled it... it was unlike any other perfumes I had at the time. However, after using it for a day, I couldn't get enough of it, I really liked that uniqueness of it. It's my favorite out of all the harajuku lovers scents.

I really like this perfume! I got the sample and it smells delicious. It smells a little sweet like baby powder and hubba bubba bubblegum mixed together. It also smells very nice and floral. The only problem is that it wears off quickly (after about an hour).

The combination of bergamot, peach, rose, vanilla, and flowers is very pleasant. It smells spicy, warm, and fruity without being overpowering. I don't agree that it smells too sweet, but we all have different noses and skin chemistry.

I really like this scent! Very fresh & clean! It just does'nt have any staying power! They need to make a perfume, because the scent is beautiful!Did you get that Gwen!I still love you! nO dOUBT! :)

Full disclosure, this perfume is exceedingly nostalgic for me. Reminiscent of an era when I was obsessed with anime, Japan, and Gwen Stefani had just released her first solo album: Love. Angel. Music. Baby - with it's themes all about the Harajuku fashion district in Tokyo. It's no surprise that she launched 5 fragrances as a tie in to the album release and her launch into her endeavors in the fashion world. The bottle designs for all these fragrances are in the style of the ultra pop art "superflat" designs of Takashi Murakami - who had collaborated with other designers for other fashion releases as well as gallery installations in the same era. I recall once lusting over his Louis Vuitton collaboration back in the day, and as of googling this very moment, it seems that handbag collection is now considered to be a "vintage capsule" up for re-release at peak Y2K nostalgia. (Excuse me as I feel my age at this moment - eek!) Nevertheless, this fragrance, and her sisters were laser targeted for my nerdy internet artsy kid demographic when they arrived on the scene, and still remains to be a playful interpretation of the fashion world at the time. When I had decided to get back into perfume, I nearly had forgotten about this fun little figurine being perfume, as I'd had the bottle displayed on the shelf as a collectors item for a number of years. So just at the initial blush, the joy of the bottle itself is distinct and collectable as little pieces of artwork themselves. After a number of years of disuse, I will say the seal and atomizer has not held up all that great (my first few sprays went wild after a long time sitting) but with a little care, ended up being just fine. For those of you looking to grab a vintage find, keep that in mind... The scent has got a beautiful bright top note of rose and citrus - fresh, aquatic, and pleasing. Someone here mentioned it's a similar fragrance to Herbal Essences rose scented shampoo and that's a valid comparison, but by all means I don't think that's a bad thing. The scent profile is fairly linear and intimate, which if you are like myself, is a bonus in a fragrance. It's extremely wearable in any number of daytime situations, unlike many of the more modern fruity-florals and reads more floral than fruit in it's projection. On dry down, it does seem to settle into an extremely soft musk, leaning more heavily into the ylang-ylang than the vanilla on me. As a certified gourmand disliker, that is also a bonus in my book. Not sure if it's age or the fragrance itself, but it didn't seem to last more than a few hours. Which, again, is also to my preference. This was my signature for a number of years - to the point that I had a friend who went to a different college in the same city as me and chased a girl down in the art department based on her perfume thinking it was me! Who knows if that meant I was wearing too much perfume back in the day, but it was distinct enough that my friends had noticed. I hope that if we really are on a nostalgia kick for Y2K these make come back, though I have my doubts since Gwen Stefani (like many celebrities) seems to have moved on to things that are less fun and playful. I'll enjoy this little figure as long as I have her, and will probably keep the bottle even after it's all said an done just for the joy of the memories.

If Baby Powder, Sweet Pea, Flowers and Bubble Gum got together and had a Fragrance Baby... Harajuku Lover's "Love" would be it! (Heavier on the flowers and baby powder. How it smells on paper and clothes is very different all together than you skin.) It just smells like a clean, little bitter, floral. If it was a color it would be Gray. Then a surprise emerged as it melted in... pink. Very very light touch of sweet. :) mm nice. Soft powdery floral that is clean, uncluttered, and just enough sweet to make it feminine and young. Without even coming close to any cloying or sweet gourmand. Just a touch. Something light bubble gum. On the way to work, that is all I could think while smelling it: Baby Powder, Flowers, Very Light touch of Sweet Pea &/or Bubblegum. ~ Nice. :) Feminine sweet and lovely. ~ Just don't breathe it until it settles into your skin! Otherwise it smells a little weird :) (And strong!) But I think that maybe that is a given; being that it is a Harajuku Lover's fragrance. :) They all seem to have that "off" quality about them. I got compliments when showing my wrists to coworkers yesterday. :) I do have to say I don't smell the fruit notes at all. Maybe that is where the "sweet pea/ bubble gum" soft sweet note is? And absolutely no vanilla. So I don't smell the notes listed here. Maybe it's just my nose? But, Mostly it's just a powdery floral with a touch of sweet.

Seeing as how, after all this time, (silly me), I just found out I'm actually really allergic to this perfume, (or at least have become so), I'll finally do a review for it because I won't be wearing it anymore. The bottle, like all the Harajuku Lovers perfume bottles, is ridiculously adorable. I can never get over how cute these bottles are and I adore Love's hair. It's so goofy and cute! The initial fragrance is beautiful. Very sickly floral fresh and good to clear your head. Unfortunately, as time has gone on, I've come to dislike the dry-down and it gives me a major headache on top of the swelling of my eyes and nasal passages I get whenever I smell this perfume at all now. Such a shame. :/ The lasting power of this one, unfortunately, was never really good. I don't have too much else to say about it. This is a great perfume for those who can wear it, even if the lasting power isn't so great. Honestly, though, I've found that Chloe's EDP smells like a better version of this and wears much better on my skin. I'm also not allergic to it! =D So if you're looking for something similar but better, I recommend Chloe EDP completely. This one, however, gets a 6/10 from me. I did like it, but I just can't smell it, much less wear it, anymore. xx

This is probably my least favorite out of the Harajuku Lovers Fragrance line -- However that does NOT mean it's bad by any means! I like this fragrance a lot, and it is very sharp but also floral. I think there are others out there like this fragrance, but this is still a great perfume! Although it smells extremely strong at first/from the bottle, it dries down to a super soft floral musk. Not overpowering, and definitely fresh and clean! I'd recommend this scent for more formal events, since it's a very mature and sophisticated fragrance with the rose, peony, and ylang-ylang; with my chemistry and on my skin, those are the most prominent notes. I would absolutely purchase if you want something sharp, floral, and mature for your perfume shelf or cabinet! :)

Although there's no tea or violet notes in this, I'd say this would make a good female counterpart to Gucci Pour Homme II. Love is aptly named - lovable and pleasant. Besides the ridiculously adorable little Asian girl, this is such a fun, happy, youthful scent. I mainly get a citrus-peony affair with what smells like some tea notes and a bit of soft, non-indolic jasmine in the background. It's pleasant and friendly, the sillage isn't too strong, but it still lasts a good while. Chemical Bonding by Ineke is very similar, but Love is a lot better in my opinion; less headache inducing than Chemical Bonding. This is the only one I've tried so far out of the Harajuku Line, and I think it's wonderful. I'd love to smell more peony fragrances!

Let me start off by saying I hate florals. Florals remind me of bathroom spray after you've used the washroom. This perfume on the other hand, is one of the only floral ones I can stand. It's a little strong when you first spray it on but it's tolerable, even to a floral hater like me, and it dries into a soft sweet floral. Very nice! I have about 5 different perfumes on the go right now but this is the only one my boyfriend can identify when I wear it. He says he loves when I wear Love. Haha! So props for being a fragrance that can be recognized! That being said, I'd much rather use the Harajuku Lovers G perfume...it's more my style. But Love was worth buying!

Truly, my only complaint about this wonderful fragrance is the longevity. It does NOT LAST. If you read my reviews you can see how this can really hinder my opinion of a scent. It's really too bad because it smells so great I want to make sure everyone I pass gets to experience it and when they do, they love it! I feel like I bathed in a bunch of freshly picked flowers but not in the sense that it's over powering. It's just a "touch" of flavor in the room really. One small suggestion, buy a tester on eBay if you find you enjoy it. A regular bottle doesn't even contain a full ounce, I believe. I grabbed a 3.4oz tester for about $25. Can't beat it!

Such a feel-good fragrance. On first spray I thought "raspberry sorbet!". Lovers is fresh, softly fruity and prettily floral. The rose is slightly powdery with a pinch of spice (imagine tea rose) possibly provided by the freesia. Now that I've seen the pyramid I can detect the rose and peach separately, but I still interpret them as "raspberry sorbet!" The $5 I paid for this cutie was well worth it. Maybe it's the packaging and presentation that brings on visions of neat vintage French shops with black and white striped awnings, planter boxes of topiaries, wrought iron patio furniture and tubs of exotic pastel-coloured ice glace. Simply gorgeous!

I voted "like" on this one. I actually love this smell once it dries down. It smells just AWFUL for the first few seconds. I love the bottles, and would've voted "love" had it not been for the fact that the scent only sticks around for about a half hour :( which makes me sad. I like to share my harajuku lovers collection with my 8 year old. Sometimes before she goes to school I let her pick one out and I spray it on her. You can tell she feels so grown up, and I feel good knowing that the smell will be gone within the hour.

Edit: OK, so here I go again having to revise my post. I tried this again today, a much cooler day, and it is very pleasant. More soft and less gender neutral. It's actually very good and softly floral. Not harsh at all! What a difference 20 degrees makes! Now I wish it lasted longer! I've had it on for 3 hours and it's almost gone. :( This fragrance smells good, but it's not at all my style. On my skin, it smells so much more gender neutral, almost masculine, than the notes seem to relay.

I was a bit hesitant to try out these Harajuku things, they seemed sooo kitschy but Love is a very charming little scent. It kind of reminds me of the clean scent of washed clothes straight out of the washing machine before you put them on the line. Clean & fresh & sweet from the fabric softner. It is simple, uplifting, familiar & I like it.

a nice sharp floral scent, it's not long wearing, although I find if I spray it on my clothes I can still smell it on them the next day, so perhaps it creates a small bubble of scent, rather than a long-reaching or lingering scent. I did buy mine as a 100ml tester bottle on ebay, so of course there is the possibility I'm wearing a fake?

I got the solid perfume of these. I don't know if it's because it's a solid perfume or is it that it is getting old but I don't get much of a strong scent. From what I can sense is a rose scent w a little sweet from the peach and pomelo. I love the brand and I really like these fragrances I'm thinking on buying a bigger bottle

My boyfriend gave me a bottle of G that I liked, and I wasn't really after Love, but I found it on sale for $7.00 and decided to give it a chance. I was really surprised. It does smell young and is not expensive or sophisticated but, it is fun! :) And honestly I can't pass up the bottles they are just too cute.

Oddly enticing. Sweet, juicy, crispy, plastic-smelling rose. Smells like melted "rose" jolly rancher, but not as sickening if that makes any sense. At first you may dislike this perfume. However, as it warms up on your skin you can't help but appreciate the juicy rose cuteness. Youthful.

I have this one and "G". This is my favorite. It's a good clean light scent. I wear it with my Demeter Clean Skin cologne. I think they go well together cause they have a lot of the same notes but this will add just a touch more of fragrance without being too much.

I dont get bubblegum at all. I guess pepper isnt listed but I get a strong peppery rose from this, its pretty spicy on me. Not what I expected at all but I still really like it. This lasted about 6 hours on me and projected VERY well which is odd for me haha :)

I like this and get many compliments but the notes are kind of blurry. Kind of has a generic perfume smell. I get more of a sharp white floral than rose from this. Definitely smells nothing like bubblegum to me, and I don't find it particularly sweet.

It smells like fruity bubblegum. Very sweet, cheerful and girly at the same time. Unfortunately, sillage and longevity are very weak. Even myself barely smell anything, which is really disappointing because I absolutely love how its smell. :'(

I put this on for the first time in ages this morning, and suddenly noticed a lovely soft fruity scent. I'd always thought of it as a linear floral before, and it was nice to notice something new about it after having owned it for so long

Very nice. Somewhat light but I can stand when something this light has the potential to be strong. The peach jumped out at me immediately. This is my springtime Thursday fragrance as a "looking forward to the weekend" kind of thing.

Love is girlish, quite peachy, watery and as sweet as sugar syrup, however it has a soft vanilla base. I went to test it for the Narcissus and Ylang-ylang, but sorry overall it's not my type, though the bottle is an eye candy.

In my opinion, usually whenever Peach and rose are combined in a scent, it seems to create a bubble gum smell and this fragrance is no different. It's pretty and cute but I'm not going to lie, it smells like pink bubble gum.

I love this fragrance so much! It's very floral. At first, it's a little overwhelming, but later, it's very fun, youthful and pretty! I definitely recommend this fragrance! Plus, I bought the full size (1 fl. oz) for $19!

I really like this. Peony and rose with a touch of grapefruit and nectarine shampoo. It’s fresh and floral and clean. It's not very strong and doesn't last long, but I still like it and will wear it often.

Of all Harajuku perfume, I think this one may be the best. Floral, really pretty. I think that if you asked a typical teenage girl which one of these five is the prettiest, she'd say that Love is.

My signature scent ages 15-18, if that means anything to you. Very well encapsulates my experience of flipping through Nylon magazine and taking selfies with Betsey Johnson wayfarers on.

I can ́t wait to get another bottle of this wonderful perfume. Suitable for all ages. Very sensual fragrance!

I got this as a gift and I loved the cute figure but that's all I really use it for. This perfume smells juvenile. And the top notes really smell to me like acetone. Like scented nail polish remover. It's not too sweet, it's got a citrus floral scent. It just smells too unnatural to me.

This is a little sharp and screechy when first applied but settles to a very fresh floral. Non offensive and a little different than other florals on the market. It is a little like Whimsical from Revlon. Even Kate Moss Velvet Hour maybe it has freesia in it. Freesia to me can smell sharp and spicey at times I can see where others think it is a little spicey. It lasted well on me too and so did the Music one. I think these two are the nicest the others smell like chemicals. They are too expensive for the size and Gwen has not got the message because the new mermaid one is the same sort of size and expensive so I guess nothing is going to change there. I suspect people get sucked in by the bottles and that's ok because everyone collects perfume for diffirent reasons.
