Josephine

Josephine has been my favorite of the bunch in the Harlem Candle Co collection. It smells familiar but I don't really own anything else like it. I have fragrances with night blooming jasmine but there are other notes that overshadow it in my other fragrances with this note. Usually a heavy sweetness. In Josephine the night blooming jasmine is allowed to shine in all of its sultry glory. The bergamot is only in the opening and fades quickly. The incense wraps around the flowers and supports them. The vanilla orchid here to me reads more like orchid there isn't the heavy sweetness it usually gives off. There is something vintage and very elevated here that I really gravitate towards. Sultry but elegant. My only complaint is I wish these fragrances were stronger concentration for the asking price. They last more like toilette. But I really enjoy this perfume and may need a full bottle anyway. The night blooming jasmine here combined with the other notes is just stunning. Warm, sultry, slightly woody, softly spicy. Deep and sensual. Very seductive. Could be a wonderful special occasion perfume. I do love this. Wish performance was a bit better but it is beautiful. Update this to 💕 it is the feminine counterpart to Duke IMO. The dry down is a very woody, slightly smoky patchouli amber.. Edit 11/15/24. I apologize to the Harlem Perfume co. This does have a beast mode projection and longevity. I don't know what was wrong with my nose (probably allergies) when I first wore this and tested it but it performs. Billie also performed well but this is massive. Very strong and long lasting. I still say this fragrance should have been named Billie because it has that Cody Emeraude remake thing going on and that was her signature fragrance from what I understand. Plus, Billie doesn't smell like gardenia at all. It is more like a Chanel #5 cousin. Anyway, Josephine is a stunning fragrance. The bottle is beautiful. It is worth the $ for sure. Great performance and my apologies again for saying this needed better performance. I must of had allergies or something going on. Enjoying wearing this today. Beautiful. Edit: The more I wear this perfume it really reminds me of Billie Holiday signature fragrance Cody Emeraude. This one should have been named Billie instead IMO.

AMAZING atmosphere, texture and structural cohesion. A sweet juiciness and warm sunlight brightness are the prominent scents but its not floating in a vacuum the texture is amazing... an amber atmosphere defines it, but it's not heavy, its warm enveloping and full with presence, and medium woody support is also very present blended interwoven in the tapestry . A smokey sultriness floats through it. Feels uplifted, warm, enveloping, sultry, atmospheric, textural, and quietly mysterious. This is signature worthy. This is not a scent for a little girl. It's for a strong independent, sensual woman who is worthy.

I love this, more than I was expecting to; it is more sophisticated than I was expecting with those notes, Almost boozy with the tonka/vanilla, not really gourmand, sweet and sultry with the night jasmine. I also get a little bit of lipstick fragrance - not sure why, but it goes with the dressing room vibe.

Incredibly beautiful amber patchouli, projects and lasts.

Ordered the discovery set because I was curious about Speakeasy. To my surprise, it was Josephine that captured my attention the most! Josephine smells really pretty! To my nose, it has a really juicy opening that is slightly green. The opening kinda reminds me of Replica’s From The Garden, which I love! I don’t really pick up the incense. As it dries down, it becomes more almondy and more powdery... reminiscent of Guerlain’s Tonka Imperial in a way but with the night blooming jasmine in the background and made fluffy by the vanilla orchid. The floral notes do not overpower! Tonka is the focal point of this perfume. It’s quite beautiful! Feminine leaning yet I can see a man being able to pull this off! It’s a strong ‘like’ for me! Will continue to test throughout the day and see how it evolves. Update: Smells beautiful but unfortunately has poor longevity on me. It was gone at the 4-hr mark. I can still smell it on my clothes but very faintly.
