Orange

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a small (10ml) bottle of this stuff from the Harry Lehmann website to try and have been using it almost daily since. I have to say I like this uncomplicated freshy very much and it perfectly scratches my itch of wanting a pure orange citrus fragrance. Since this is just a small shop and not a big firm I felt compelled to write a short positive review. First of all, I love citrus fragrances and orange is one of my favorite notes. However, up until now I wasn't able to find a nice affordable one. I haven't checked out LV Afternoon Swim or that new Tom Ford because they're quite pricey. Haven't checked out AC's Orange Sanguine either, because reports of fleeting performance didn't motivate me. I did, however, try and wear AdP's Mandarino di Sicilia a couple of times from a sample. The AdP and Harry Lehmann's Orange are about the same price for 100ml so I'll compare them for a bit. Harry Lehmann Orange for me smells like pure orange rind oil with a bit of orange blossom blended in and some muskiness for good measure. That's it. It's smells just as if your holding a pressing a piece of orange peel in your hands to get the oil out. Fruity, fresh, citrusy, slightly sweet, slightly bitter, no pulp at all. Very natural smelling, no added artificial sweetness, no abrasive fixatives or any strong transparent woody facets. Whatever the fixative is, I'm guessing ambroxan, isn't really coming through in a noticeable way. It's a genuine mood booster and from all that I've smelled the fragrance closest to pure orange oil, with the orange flower and musk adding just a 'tinge' of clean soapiness. The Acqua di Parma in comparison has more complexity going on, with a herbal spearmint that's just as prominent as the orange, a sweet blood orange note and a slightly earthy smelling base. I think the AdP smells a bit more chique compared to the more casual HL Orange, but its added mint and woody notes prevent it from scratching the itch for a pure orange fragrance. To conclude I'd say this one is a safe blind buy for guys (and gals) that would like to have an uncomplicated front-and-center orange fragrance. If you like what orange peel oil smells like and you would like a fragrance like that, this is the stuff.
