Bailando

I have been wearing my 7 mL rollerball of Bailando, and while I do agree that it has the profile of La Vie Est Belle, the base of this fragrance smells somehow stale to me. I have had my perfume for a while, so I am willing to admit that it may have gone off (I don't remember giving it a full wear test when I first got it), but usually when a perfume has gone off, it's the top notes that have burnt off, and the base is generally intact. This remains stale the whole way through, which makes me wonder if Bailando just smells like this. I don't know how to describe it - there is sandalwood, but it's not smooth, it's somehow sour? Caramels that have been sitting in their plastic for so long that the plastic wrap is melting and impossible to peel away from the caramel. I've even tried layering this with other La Vie Est Belle type perfumes I have (Arsenal by Gilles Cantuel), but this just takes over and even makes those smell terrible. In fact, it drowns out any perfume I try to layer over it, and makes everything smell stale and terrible. And it lasts forever. The whole time I'm wearing it, the only feeling I have is that I really wish I were wearing La Vie Est Belle instead. There are so many fragrances like this, you can get literally anything else and you will be better off. Even if mine has turned, I would still count that as a flaw - because I've never had a fruitchouli turn on me.
