Lover Man

I received this as a sample when I bought a free fragrances in a shop. Absolutely love it, but it's too masculine for me to wear (and I wear a lot of fragrances that say they're "for men").

Mix of Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint with Francesca Bianchi. Myrrh, safron, woods. Very grounding and soft woody vibe. Very quickly gets skin scent. A nice one but the price is way too high.

There is a note or an accord that I really don't like in here. It is really out of tune. Maybe it's the bergamot? Smells like if you dropped a bar of soap into a jar of different spices. Very weird. Appreciate the creativity, but this is definitely not a blind buy friendly scent. I don't know what drove the person who gifted me this to choose this scent in particular. Maybe I'll be able to wrap my head around it as time goes on, but after 1 day of wear this is not very pleasing. Edit: I managed to figure out what this reminds me of. So I'm a dentist and we work with eugenol-based materials. This smells like someone mixed spices into an eugenol paste.

Another great one from HFC! I get the myrrh in the opening, but not much else. After it's dried, I get a dry, woodsy aroma with a slight dusting of cocoa. It's not gourmand at all as the other notes keep it from being so. To me, it's unisex but leans more masculine. Great for fall and winter; I think it would be too much for spring and summer, though I'd probably try it in warmer temps. I'd say if liked something like Kilian's Straight to Heaven which is heavy on the woody notes, you'd like this too. Very long lasting on my skin as well.
