Rose

Beautiful composition exploring the contrast between rose and gunpowder, with a lot of aromatic herbs and woods. The result is fresh, minty, green and camphoraceous at first, then rosy, floral, woody, smoky. Think of Géranium pour Monsieur having a baby with Portrait of a Lady. The drydown on clothes, once you forget the perfume, is divine. A cold (but not fresh) rose, very stylized !

rose with vibrant juicy, lush greens and soft spices, very distinct, strong and interesting! Dominique Ropion can do no wrong it seems, at least in niche space, this lovely and a must-try for rose lovers!

Pure's comment below gives the perfect comparison. I too was instantly reminded of Love Kills. The reason? The incredibly potent dose of GERANIUM in both. Neither are truly rose perfumes: they are primarily geranium scents. It seems a lot of people can't tell the difference: good for them! Unfortunately for me, I can, and this ruins a lot of so-called "rose" perfumes for me. Including this one. The opening is a feast of herbs, with wonderful basil, mint and tarragon. Then the geranium takes over, destroying everything in its path. After a good 45 minutes, the geranium assault relents, and finally, I find a pleasant tarragon rose with a hint of resins. By then unfortunately it's little more than a skin scent.

Absolutely beautiful! I thought I knew much about roses, but this fragrance took me on a journey into the unknown. Phenomenal, fresh with just the right dose of insanity. Edit: You will enjoy it if you like Love Kills. They're a light and dark side of the same theme.
