Obsessive Devotion

First of all I have to say that I have tried this perfume and... I LOVE IT! I love how Francesca Bianchi works with leather. And the mix with the floral, oily, fruity touch of the spectacular champaca. And now when we add the peach and the powdery point of the iris comes out directly! And I have to say that if I didn't have other Francesca Bianchi perfumes in my collection, this would be a safe purchase. The problem that I have found with this perfume is that it is too similar to other perfumes that you have already presented to us before. Obsessive devotion presents us with a sweet peach very similar to that of tyher tyger, a powdery leathery drydown that is almost identical to the drydown of Divine perversion (in fact, if you change the champaca for raspberry it is almost the same more intense aroma and a little more animalic that yes, I like it better and if I had to choose I'd go with the obsession rather than the perversion... But it came late...) And a release that reminds me greatly of Luxe Calme Volupté. It has surprised me a lot since FB always surprises me and in this case I lacked that surprise factor. And the strangest thing is that the same thing happened to me with his other latest creation, Byzantine amber, which reminds me too much of The dark side... Therefore, as an individual perfume, my rating is very high, but if I analyze it within the perfumer's collection, for me e. This case, and I hope that without serving as a precedent, I have to say that I lack a bit of originality and risk. I'm smelling the love child of Samsara and Bal a Versailles. Powdery, waxy, ambery, yellow floral chypré. It's like you mixed all your favorite vintage fragrances together and made something better than the sum of it's parts. This is magical, feminine, timeless and almost childlike. It's reminds me of when I used to lock myself in my aunt's room and dress up in her clothes and play with her fancy scarves and pearls, put on heels and lipstick and then do poses in the full length mirror. This perfume feels like it's a child's somaesthetic dreamscape of the mysterious realm of womanhood.

love it Citrusy fruity with slightly noticeable animal notes and a strong earthy floral heart. A woody leather base with the earthiness of iris gives a beautiful, enjoyable depth to the aromatic experience with this fragrance. Not for blind buying

Opening felt so ambiguous to me, almost masculine, like a cold, sharp citrus mix. It quickly settled into a much warmer scent where the peach shone through. The base felt pretty generic to FB perfumes, a mix of animalic, leather, wood, that kind of recognizable blend but enriched with the peach. Overall, Obsessive Devotion feels like an older peach cousin to Exquisite Affair to me, where Exquisite Affair is this luminous, playful and light scent and Obsessive Devotion has lost that youthful innocence but gained loads of experience that grounds her, if it makes any sense. I like both but I find this one, Obsessive Devotion, to be somewhat too repetitive compared to FBs other perfumes.

Obsesive devotion, or how to glue the juicy peach aroma on your skin for 20 hours. In the opening there’s champaca, animalic leather, fuzzy peach, all doused in the oil of that fresh grapefruit and bergamot rind. Surrealistically, a blue Nivea tin enters the scene. Or is it whipped cream? Then, for a while, you only feel the animalic leather and grapefruit oil. Not very pleasant, I must say. But the peach is there to stay, imbibing everything with its juiciness. A Bianchi perfume, for sure.

To me this close to Boha and Unue by Jeroboam, but sweeter (from the peach, which reminds of of Jeroboam’s Gozo sweetness) and is also more leathery than Boha and Unue. I need to see all of them in parallel and see which goes best for what occasion. in Hedonik you definitely get a denser base and it’s a bit sexier, while Unue feels more formal and Boha most versatile. The peach in obsessive devotion reminds me of the one in Micallef’s Aoud Night. Something white floral has possessed me lately and I’m going for perfumes which seem familiar, but are done better or have some twist. For example - Rosine Ballerina 4 turns into lily or jasmine scented gentle bubblegum, but in the nicest and gentle way I could hope for. Doesn’t go boring as the opening may suggest. So, Obsessive Devotion does the same cool trick to my nose - despite the white floral peachy chypre vintage ingredients, it takes a turn and doesn’t go grandma on me and immerse me in the fully expected out-of-date nostalgia, but manages to keep its classy side and create presence in a very decadent way. OD makes me want to chase Gozo’s far drydown with it, which remains in an everlasting patchouli phase and could use a bit of sexy decadent refreshing.

Ode to champaca flower. Having used it a few times, I stopped smelling patchouli (which was distracting here) and now enjoy a fully blooming golden magnolia flower! It's sexy and does have that skin scent (elbow bend, neck area). If I had to explain it to someone who doesn't know much about perfumes, I'd say OD is sweet like a ripe apricot, with fruit pulp texture, this is a flower with some bread-like undertones. It's a lot more serious than the playful Divine Perversion which I adore, but for a different mood. I think my 30ml bottle won't last me till the end of the year.. 😋😻

Candy fruitchouli. Peach, heliotrope, jasmine, strawberry jam, amber and white chocolate. Lovely but too powdery and cloyingly strong.

Smells like a vitamin-C effervescent tablet with some slightly animalic undertones... a pass for me.
