Shine

I'm absolutely shocked at all the hate for this perfume. Shocked. You know those perfumes that people talk about being like a "natural" scent or a scent that will make you smell like you just simply smell like you, but better? People word it different ways but you get what I'm saying... This is that to me. It's got this musky, slightly sweet, slightly powdery, skin-suede thing going on. CLEAN smelling! I can't believe all the hate for this. It smells so good. There's a spicy accord there but it's SO incredibly smooth. Spicy can be an intimidating word that I try to use carefully. Sometimes someone says "spicy" and I can't help but think of a spicy accord being overpowering like cinnamon or hot peppers. But this is not that. The spicy accord in this is so incredibly soft and smooth. Just adds some warmth to the scent. This to me is not a dupe......but in the same category as Lacoste Pour Femme in the tall bottle with the light tan liquid. It's a different take on it...but most definitely evokes the same feeling. A clean, my-skin-but-better perfume. Office safe and year-round versatility. I've worn this in winter where the balsamic accord and vanilla stand out. And I've worn this in summer when it'll smell slightly more musky and powdery. Longevity - About 4 hours. Projection - About 2 feet for 2 hours. And then a skin scent for another two. Overall Score - 9/10. Final Note : Again, I'm shocked at all the dislike votes for this. It's beautiful. There's plenty of small .5 oz and 1 oz bottles for sale on Ebay for dirt cheap so I say give it a try if you like clean-skin types of scents. Ya got nothing to lose. Also...I just ordered her "Surprise" perfume which has very mixed reviews and a long dislike bar as well. But after seeing the votes on this one...I have lost confidence in judging perfumes based on solely like/dislike bars and others reviews. I'm starting to buy perfumes based on the notes listed and how I think it'll wear on my skin. So stay tuned...that perfume should be here any day now and I'm gonna review it on it's page. As for this one...I voted above with a love.

I'm almost shocked at all the negative reviews this has received. This smells absolutely devine. It goes to show; one's nose is like no one elses. As most of my perfumes, I purchase unsniffed simply because there are better prices and options available online. I usually trust my sense of notes and mixtures and decided to try this out, plus it was super cheap on Amazon (although they don't start out very pricey either). As I'm not currently wearing it, it's very for me to pinpoint the different notes. I find it to be an anytime, anywhere, any season perfume. It would wear just as well in the winter, as in the summer. It's clean and bright, perhaps the "Shine" aspect. This one is a winner me personally.

I agree with another commenter, I dont know why there are so many bad reviews. This perfume smells great, if anything it is mostyly powdery and then a little bit sweet, and addicting. When ever I wore this perfume I always recieved compliments, and to be honest Hiedi makes the best celebrity and most different celebrity perfumes out their, deff worth a try If you love vanilla, creamy and honey suckle scents this one is for you. It is most certaintly not a typcial fruity floral, but its not nasty its a deep- not old lady- scent that smells great and the great thing is that although its a celb perfume you will be the only one wearing it

I was able to pick this up on sale today for a very cheap price so I figured if I hated it I was not going to be out alot of money and I could give it to a friend if need be. Turns out I actually really like it. I see the reviews are very mixed on this but I have to admit it is quite nice. On my skin I get a creamy delicious musky almost tropical vibe. I can faintly detect the pear in the background and I get no florals at all. It really smells cozy, delicious and warm. So far it has lasted for 4+ hours and counting. Not bad Heidi!

Had to actually get a bottle of this to realize I loved it.It starts off like every other Oriental celeb perfume but on the drydown becomes a warm and slightly spiced vanilla.I think-like others have said-the name is misleading a bit as I expected a more citrus based perfume.I find this to be very comforting and am gonna use the heck out of it in cooler weather.I hated it on the first try and think it's worth a shot to try again if you veer toward Oriental scents.Love-now I just need the body wash and lotion:)

The worst thing about this perfume is the name. Shine makes you expect a bright, summery scent. Shine is not that perfume. Shine is a comfort scent. It opens floral with a hint of fruit. It quickly settles down to a luscious sweet , musky vanilla with a tinge of powder. It is the kind of perfume you reach for when you want a soothing scent. It is like a comfy sweater on a blustery day. I can't imagine why the reviews are so bad. Shine is just beautiful. Its a keeper!

Had a completely different reaction upon retesting this-it's actually quite a pretty scent.I think the key is to not overspray like I did the first time.I can really get the vanilla,tonka and musk this time around and while I won't be buying it right now I think this would be awesome for the cooler months:) Just wanted to add I get no florals from it either and very little citrus...

I was given a bottle as a gift recently, and while I wouldn't buy it myself I'm happy with it. It's pretty, sweet, and ordinary. Yes, I do like it, it's just not something I'd rush out to replace. It is not a perfume I would associate with Heidi Klum, her perfume "Heidi Klum" from years ago is much better. When I first tried it, on a cool evening, it was very much a girly "fruity gourmand" perfume. Heavy on the fruit and vanilla, and light on the musk and spice. Slight traces of floral... not the Lily of the Valley, more the Mimose. Today however, it's a beast! All Musk and Tonka, a trace of pepper or spice, barely any citrus or floral to mention. I might add that it's currently 30c and the humidity is very high. Similar to Britney Spears' Fantasy or one of those "pink sugar" perfumes. I also liken it to DKNY Candy Apples, the one in the red bottle. It is also very close to Coty's Desperate Housewives Forbidden Fruit... it could be the same with more musk. Maybe they are trying to get rid of old stock by giving it a revamp?? LOL! Definitely not a hot weather, day time perfume, unless you really want to stand out in a crowd of sweaty folk. And I suppose that's what perfume was originally for, ne? Not the worst, but not the best. An OK, cheaper perfume. Worth a try. Especially, as ChouliGaloria put it, if you are in a hurry for a few quick, cheap essentials that you wouldn't be too upset to leave behind when you left ;-) I would have expected better from Heidi Klum, but I'm sure this will add to her coffers and assist her in her retirement :-)

I really wanted to love this one! When you see the name, you might think it would be a bright or juicy scent. It's not. I don't hate it, but it's not one that I will buy again. On first sniff right out of the bottle, it smells somewhat manly to me. Not totally like a man's cologne, but there's a definite masculinity to it. After a few minutes though, it does morph into a pleasant mandarin - vanilla musk scent. I actually thought it was kind of heavy at first, but the more time that had passed, the better I found it to be. Probably about 6 hours after application, I thought it mellowed into this nice, clean skin scent. This is one that may grow on me, but I don't know that I will wear it enough to let it. Does this scent stand out from other celebrity scents? No, definitely not. I can easily see how people can call this boring or "meh". It's alright, but nothing really special.

I don't understand the negative reviews either. To me this perfume just doesn't seem like it would be this polarizing to people. It's not super strong or really in any way offensive. I actually like it enough to wear, and I have lots of perfumes I've bought that I just find unwearable. I think this could be stronger, but so many perfumes today are weak. I smell slight vanilla in this and something citrusy. I see why they called it Shine. It's a bright scent to me that on dry down turns somewhat cozy. It isn't pricey either which to me is a plus. I could buy expensive perfumes but I have to really love one to warrant dropping tons on a perfume, especially with how often I find after wearing that I don't love them. With so many negative reviews, try this before you buy. I did and liked it enough to buy it.

I agree with chriscrandall. I was surprised at all of the negative reviews because I really like it. It's soft, creamy and feminine. A bit fruity, sweet, but not over the top sweet, with a gently floral feel. The opening is almost peachy, the middle is a bit powdery and does develope a very slight masculine edge but the dry down returns to the beginning with the addition if vanilla. I don't get musk at all. The silage becomes low after the first 30min. with wafts of it on the air, and then becomes a bit stronger again for the dry down. Lasting power is great, several hours. I really enjoy Shine. There's something almost LB Tempore Donna about it. Give it a try before you make up your mind.

As many other reviewers have said, I only bought this perfume (blind) because of the low price. Happily for me, it was super cheap and I really like it. I think my chemistry is "turning on" all of the RIGHT notes and not even letting others through at all. Immediately after spritzing, I get a delicious vanilla blast. YUM! Following the vanilla, right away I smell a very nice, soothing musk, accompanied by the Tonka. I get little, if any, fruit or flowers at all. On my skin, I would call this a light gourmand. Definitely an uncomplicated fragrance, but I like what it smells like on me. I might even rebuy it when it is gone. (I rarely do that except with a few favorites.)

So many bad reviews? I don't get it... lol. It might be a generic scent, a scent that is definitely not unique, a scent that has many twins out there in perfumeworld... But it is not bad, it's a creamy sweet vanilla scent. I saw this on a very cheap offer today (50 ml + 200 ml bodylotion for 12 euros). I did not buy it, but I did test the scent at the counter just before I left the store... and it made me sniff my hand over and over again. Really not bad at all, but I would indeed never pay the regular price for it. However, I wished I did pick up the giftset for 12 euros though ;) Two weeks later... I picked it up... ;)

You can add me to the list of people who doesn't quite understand the large dislike vote for this scent. Of course, I also really enjoy White Diamonds, which also has its fair share of dislikes. Shine is nothing spectacular, just a safe, inoffensive vanilla-based scent like so many others, but to my nose, there's nothing overtly dislikeable about it. It will never be a love for me, but it's nice enough to be a like, a scent to wear when I can't decide what else to wear. Longevity and sillage are moderate-to-low, but at the price I paid for the 1 ounce bottle, I have no problem reapplying.

I just got this today as a gift, along with the shower gel and body cream. I absolutely love it!!! Goes to show you how a scent can morph into a lovely cashmerish- coconut whiff or a nasty generic vanilla. I am so disappointed by all the negative reviews. I love Lolita Lempika and s.t. about Shine reminded me of the warm musky and spicy drydown. Anyways, I am glad to have it. It turns into a soft velvety skin scent with little sillage but great staying power. I will probably layer it with another fragrance which will turn this scent into a luscious gourmad xxx

The negative reviews here are NOT all alike, which leads me to believe almost anyone would agree, this isn't much of a perfume. I love Coty, but I must agree that this scent is just a grab for money. Ms Klum however, I don't watch Project Runway, but maybe she'll be more forgiving when she critiques on the show. I must say that even though I don't like this scent so much, I don't find it offensive at all. I sniffed my wrist a couple times when I tried it and just never tried a third time. I wonder if it might smell nice on someone else that wears this?

It's different from other celebrity perfumes in the respect that it's not overly fruity and candy-sweet, but it isn't very memorable. You can definitely smell the Orange and pear in the beginning before it settles into a musk. Initially I thought there was patchouli in this and was surprised that there isn't. It is nice though and I don't understand all the dislikes. I don't find it to be the least bit offensive. A little boring and unoriginal? Yes, but not offensive. Strictly a "like" perfume for me.

This fragrance and Ellen Tracy Ellen have the same dominant notes according to Fragrantica votes: tonka bean and musk. It's no surprise that Shine smells a lot like Ellen to me; I have both, and I actually like Shine a bit more. The difference to my nose is that Shine is a bit fruitier, and it's stronger than Ellen, with more projection and longevity. This is a nice fragrance; it's not controversial enough to have so many dislikes. It's very soothing and pleasing.

Shine is a nice fragrance counting its price. It is warm and sweet but unfortunately it doesn't last more than 2 hours at my skin. It is true that it is not a scent to remember, but still a nice scent in my opinion. On me it wasn't very alcoholic. I agree that it is not offensive and I think that in the worst case scenario you can just ignore it. Personally I found it pleasant and I actually prefer its scent than other popular brand fragrances that I have.

Shine is an odd perfume. Sometimes I find I really like it, but other times I can't stand it. It's a very masculine scent, with musk being the predominant note. You may get a small whiff of vanilla, but not much of anything else. Also, I tested this perfume on my wrist, it lasted an hour, then disappeared. I wouldn't mind owning a small bottle, but I think it would just be money wasted because of the lasting power. Very disappointing.

The two reviews below are speaking my mind, I am also slightly disappointed, but then again, I got this for less than 10$ on Ebay so I didnt expect anything extraordinary.It's a little bit masculine, spicy, vanilla is what I smell the most, not much of anything floral as they say in description. It's a cheap celebrity fragrance that the developers didnt spend much time on, but its worth my "change" for this winter :)

I only bough this because it was cheap? I do not get much vanilla or tonka at all... it's soft-ish and it's OK. Don't love it but I don't hate it. I rarely wear this like, ever though lol It's a "eh I'm just sitting around and maybe go grocery shopping" kind of day, scent I get more yellow floral in this than any other scent listed. I hate yellow florals usualy but this is soft I would not buy again though.

Despite all the bad reviews, this is not horrible. It's not great, but not horrible. Am I the only one that detects a bit of coconut in here? I'm not even sure what it is, maybe coconut. The citrus disappears almost immediately, then I smell vanilla and some florals. By drydown, it becomes sweeter, the florals are very faint, and I can smell mostly musk and a bit of vanilla.

This is a lovely, rich, long lasting scent. Very elegant in my opinion and a fantastic find for the price. I can smell vanilla, a touch of floral, a touch of light musk. Don't believe the negative reviews on this one, it is worth every penny of that $20 you'll drop for half an ounce- and you can find it at most drug and department stores.

I just got this for the second time, for 4$ on Ebay (!), i like it even more than the first time around, maybe because it reminds me of last Christmas. It's a great winter perfume, my only complain is that it does smell a little cheap, but then again - couldnt expect anything better for the price..

I don't mind this perfume. It's not something I would buy again. It actually is something I could see my mother in law wearing. On me it's very musky smelling. I also feel it's more of a evening scent. Not to something really fancy but a nice dinner out or possibly a dinner party.

Just finished up a half ounce bottle of this. It was nice to have while it lasted but it's not something that i'm going to rush out and repurchase. This works best for fall and winter. I think it would be way too heavy and cloying for the summer time.Lots of musk in this one.

Clean fragrance with a sweet and approachable feel. Sunny and youthful floral with a sweet vanilla fruity opening that dries down to a chill powdery tonka musk and is extremely wearable. It's very cozy and warm and comfy on the dry down. It's like a chill day in a studio Ghibli movie about a office lady who is not special or flashy but sweet and approachable and nice. It's like a girl who has been nowhere outside of her town and wants to shine and have a good adventure but is needing that extra push. It has little personality, but maybe exactly what is needed for the occasion. Work perfume with a cheery sweet heart and chill powdery finish. The hate is from those who want to wear whatever without regard to the appropriateness of the location or vibe. This is office party or daily wear okay in most places. In Asia it may be too girly and flirty. The closer to a hand soap or shampoo scent the more work appropriate. This is a girlier version of that with a warmer and more inviting appeal. It's not one dimensional. But it may be too sweet and lacking character for some. It's a little imbalanced and lacking depth. The pear and mandarin blend into a generic fruity sweet note, that is yanked through the mimosa, sunflower, and pink pepper rosiness in a few minutes to reveal the vanilla forward musk and tonka. That vanilla-tonka-musk mingles with the floral and fruit notes, all at the same volume in the arrangement, for a five minute span until it unwinds into a generic but less chaotic dry down. Wait till the dry down to leave the house, approximately 15 mins, and if sensitive don't wear in hot dry weather. Better for the 15-35 year old crowd.

I am still using this perfume and I still like it. I mix it with Elizabeth Arden's Fith Avenue After5 and Style and sometimes Nights. They mix well together and give this one a little umph. Sometimes I spray it lightly over the top of Ed Hardy's original one or Versace Crystal Noir. My husband loves the smell and I have had a few compliments maybe it is a bad perfume but it suits my skin I am not sure but I like it and cannot see why people dislike it so much. I have tried the new summer version. Appart from some extra citrus in the initial spray it pretty much dries down the same as the original version. There are a few ladies in the perfume store where I got it from who said they have it and like it so it must be an acquired taste. I tried it with Halle Berry's first perfume Halle and I liked that too this one gives it a little spice mixed with the honey sweetness of Halle.

This is a very beautiful fragrance its soft romantic and very sensual.Its like sunshine in a bottle it totally what I would imagine Heidi wearing.She said she was inspired by 4711 as her father worked there and she loved that scent.It has some influence from 4711 but more softer and wearable.I am impressed with this the price is reasonable the bottle is creative the ad is lovely.I can't wait to buy it. Edit: I was so ready to buy this but when I retested it I wasn't impressed.It started off kind of strong reminds me of another fragrance not sure which one yet.Then it dried down very clean quiet boring as another reviewer said.Lasting power was pretty poor.The bottle is so cute the fragrance not so much.It is like an Avon fragrance its nice but nothing special.

"Shine" starts with a peppery note that transitions into a sweet pear. It dries down to a faint musky amber with a bit of sweetness...but this doesn’t seem to have much to offer me. After only 2 hours, I can barely smell it on my skin. No lily, no vanilla. This is an odd fragrance, it seems to be having an identity crisis. It starts out peppery, then becomes fruity, then tries to become a warm amber which is a direct contrast to the images evoked by the name “Shine”. It reminds me a bit of Halston Sheer, a fragrance with a very similar sweet pear and floral combination. “Shine” is in a pretty bottle, and the notes looked promising, but it just doesn't work on my skin.

I am suprised at the negative reviews here. I only noticed this recently at priceline and I sprayed it and thought it was plain. It is warm, slightly coconutty and vanilla with a slight spice to it. It lasts a long time on my wrist. I got a bottle and when I wore it out that night a few people said You smell nice what's that? They didn't realise Heidi has a perfume and I must say I didn't I just happened to see it. I find it in offensive. To say like some have that it is horrible surprises me. That's your view of it and that's fine but I certainly haven't noticed it to be so bad maybe I will the more I use it not sure?

There are many mixed reviews for this perfume so I was glad to finally get my hands on a tester! Hmmmmm. Shine is a very musky, warm & slightly peppery fragrance. I think it would make a safe gift for someone. It's the kind of scent you can buy without worrying too much about it being too offensive. It does smell a little synthetic. It has moderate sillage & lasting power. Overall, I personally think this perfume is just ok. It isn't to my taste but if someone purchased it for me, I would use it for casual days. To me, this perfume seems like there wasn't much thought put into it.Disappointed.

this one's been talked about so much, the upcoming that is....and the final product is not that great. weird smelling. dry musk, mimose and sunflower, wth? well, that's exactly it, the wrong ingredients that do not compliment each others. did not expect this from heidi, as she's always the crazy fun gal that's all smiles? this makes me go into olfactory shock.

The sunflower and tonka bean really stands out here, then goes to a figgy sweetness. It's heavy and sweet in ways I dont prefer my purfumes to be, but that is personal taste more than anything. But, it's not bad and it beats some of the other celeb frags out there. It's an interesting scent, to be sure! Just not my preferred taste.

Yawn. I think it should have been called Citrus No Shine. It is made out to be a warm vanilla scent and I don't get that AT ALL. This smells like hair spray to me...very synthetic. I was not disappointed, however, because I did not have high expectations for this scent.

I own many perfumes and my brother off some reason chose this one out of all of them as the best. No idea why , I do not get anything nice from it , to me it just smells like plastic , cheap stuff. I like the bottle though ( I think my bro choose it because of Heidi :)

Such a boring scent, we have hundrets of them! Beautiful openning, after 2 minutes it turns into the boring citrussy-drugstore scent. I tryed it only because of Aurelien Guichard. Do not waste your time with it!

On me this is too floral and kinda smells like an old Avon perfume I hated (the name escapes me), a scrubber for sure!!! Maybe this will smell good on a floral lover, I'm not a fan of florals.

Don't think that wearing Heidi Klum Shine would make you smell like Heidi Klum, more like somebody from Jerry Springer. Ordinary, very cheap, headache inducing and annoying fragrance.

IMO Heidi did not keep her promise. To me it's a very alcoholic, citrusy and herbal scent....and typical drugstore.

I can’t say the fragrance is bad or good. It gives me the same reaction as beige wallpaper. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. To me it is more in the “Meh” category. I sometimes think I should wear it more often for deeper study, perhaps I judged it too quickly. The problem is, it is so unmemorable I often forget I own it. I guess I was just expecting something more exciting from a woman who was married to Seal. LOL! Just put this one on the shelf with all the other 5000 scents generically described as “ Sweet & Feminine.” On a more positive note, I have discovered this scent blends well. I have used it as a secondary spritz to take the edge off a fragrance that is too peachy or vanilla for my taste.

I hate to say this quite this way, but this just smells cheap. I held this opinion even when I first got into perfumes and my wardrobe comprised of body sprays, Avon, and other cheapies. They really could have done better. It is quite forgettable and the scent itself is strangely shrill and cloying. There are far better alternatives in this price range. Heidi herself has better. For example, Surprise, which is surprisingly elegant and well made, and lasts all day and then some.

If this is a cheap smelling perfume like all of these reviews are saying than call me the fucking town whore because I have been wearing this perfume for years and it is one of my favorites. It has a strong vanilla and slight musk scent to it that is really appealing to me unlike a majority of perfumes that smell like a grandma queef. It is not floral or fruity at all and has a really warm feel to it. It does not fade away after a short amount of time for me like a lot of these reviewers are saying. Yes it fades slightly after a while but not completely, after about seven to eight hours of wearing this I can still smell it quite apparently, it just becomes softer and mostly vanilla after a long amount of time. And for all of the people complaining about how “boring” it is, kindly fuck off and go chug your floral garbage, just because you spend all of your free time destroying your nostrils with whale poop doesn’t mean the rest of us do. It smells like vanilla but not in an offensive way, if you like vanilla and you are a normal person with untainted nostrils you will probably like this. If not, it’s not like you broke the bank on something that smells so bad not even the devil would wear it. Get off your high end luxury horses and take the sticks out of your asses people, if you don’t want something cheap than don’t BUY something cheap and kindly fuck off so the rest of us normal people can live our lives and enjoy our “boring” vanilla.

I bought this perfume today. Why? Because I liked it. It's actually a nice and pretty drugstore celebrity scent. I bought the small 15 ml sized (1/2 ounce) EdT for $10 at a Rite Aid drugstore. The spray bottle is demure too. Shine is a mild and sweet oriental perfume that does smell like a perfume. Nonoffensive and modern woman-like too. The perfume also has a tiny Thierry Mugler Angel accord in it's makeup. Just a touch. My nose also detected a little bit of patchouli and I can pick up on the pleasantly sweet floral notes. The sillage is low key and the longevity of this EdT is a few hours. If you're a lady in a hurry and you stopped at the drugstore to pick up a few travel or overnight-at- the-man's-place necessities AND you also wanted a pretty perfume to wear and smell good, then give the Heidi Klum Shine a try. It's worth it.

So, I'm going to be completely honest. I bought a bottle of this because I thought it was pleasant enough, very cheap and I needed something to spray in my car after a cigarette. One warm summer night at a local bar, I sprayed this on myself to "refresh" after having a cigarette before heading back inside. A minute later from walking in, I had the most attractive man I've ever seen in my life compliment my perfume. So, naturally, I bought two more bottles of this perfume just in case I ran into him again. (Pathetic, I know.) Well, I actually did run into him a week later... while wearing this perfume... which he continued to love... the entire night. It was pleasant enough so I continued to wear it for a few months until getting bored and moving on to another man. Oops! I meant 'perfume'... or did I?

I noticed Shine at a local mall today and decided to give it a try although I hadn't heard of it before but it was something new and kind of an interesting. At first I smelled fresh citruses but it got sweeter only seconds later. I quite liked the combination of fresh citruses and sweet pear. Later the scent gets more sweeter first with florals and later with the vanilla. But it's the donka bean that makes the scent more interesting to me with it's oriental vibe. I wouldn't call it a boring scent but to be honest it does not smell very original and unique. Reminds a lot of Avon's perfumes (which I mostly like). But it's very warm and comforting and I'd wear it if I'd get it as a gift but I'm not going to buy it.

Just another celebrity stench from Coty, standard issue. "Shine" is proof that the once esteemed House of Coty has completely surrendered innovation and quality to make a buck exploiting anyone who has a few minutes left on Mr. Warhol's clock. This seems to be a generic celebrity oriental: vanilla and some unidentifiable flowers. It's so bland and unimaginative you can't tell what's in it. My little brother used to make more interesting stink bombs with his chemistry set. Every molecule of "Shine" smells cheap and synthetic. Ironically, on "Project Runway" Ms. Klum often disdainfully calls someone's effort "cheap". Even the bottle is bad: it looks like a piece of junky jewelry
