Tonka & Pepe Rosa

On my skin, the opening of Tonka & Pepe Rosa is strong on both the notes that give it its name: tonka bean and pink pepper. It's actually a lot peppery, especially if worn in winter, while a warmer climate makes it a lot sweeter, allowing the tonka to shine brighter. The flowers and the woods are so well blended behind the tonka, pepper and vanille, that I can't identify them, even if their subtle influence is noticeable in the deeper base. I strongly suggest to consider this fragrance a sping /summer choice, since with higher temperatures it performs a lot better, both in longevity (quite poor in winter, up to 3 hours in summer) and sillage. I know that it's marketed with a Christmas holyday vibe, but in winter I feel like it loses the vanilla and the flowers almost entirely, becoming almost a bitter spicy scent. It's a fun, office safe, peppery sweet fragrance. Not a statement, but one with a pleasant personality. I do prefer other options from Helan (the classic Monoi, the gorgeous Vaniglia Verveine), but this is a well tought little masterpiece. Compared to Pink Sugar, they're definitely in the same family, sharing that pungent peppery first note on a sweet base, but Helan delivers a more refined and natural product, although lacking the longevity of the much louder cousin. If you like Pink Sugar, I'm sure you'll love Tonka and Pepe Rosa, and if you want a stronger alternative to the latter, take a look into Aquolina.

Unique and special fragrance. This is a very creamy fragrance with a spicy sweetness. It makes me think of a chai latte or some kind of butter ... tonka bean gives a milky sensation to the fragrance. Green pepper gives sprint to the scent. Helan is a natural cosmetics company and its ingredients are chosen with great care ... so I am even happier to use this delicious scent!

The poetry ....... Sweet, spiced at the right point, exceptional duration. Everything makes me love this amazing eau de parfum, a "niche" Maison that is sold only in herbalists or specialist shops of organic, vegan and "associated" products. At the first scent the pink pepper expands in a radius. Domineering, intrusive, then the fragrance softens and then a reckless love is born. I admit that I tested it the first time from a sample. I was intrigued by the idea that the green pepper note was in the heart of the fragrance. Well, I don't perceive it. But the pepper and tonka bean do. APPROVED !!!

Very strong peppery Opening which fades just too quickly. What remains is a nice tonka and vanilla scent. Harmless and with very little longevity (and no sillage) but for a product of this price range it’s quite well done. I love this brand, they have very nice products. This could be lovely on a young woman and not only in winter. A bit too sweet to call it unisex but pleasant.
