Jupiter

Sampling Hendley Perfumes Jupiter, a re-release from the 2019 laboratory Series (#3), a freshie with distinction, a blend whose full note list merits including: bergamot, red mandarin, neroli, vanilla, cedar, musk, and ambergris. It has the citric/neroli/musk freshness but with some heft, the vanilla/cedar/ambergris providing a sort of dense, woody base that’s not especially sweet or sharp. It feels very balanced, overall. I regard as a freshie with some heft and intrigue, meaning that while it’s surely agreeable, the fresher notes are prominent, and it feels more appropriate in the warmer weather, it nevertheless feels well-crafted, with some depth and decent performance. The concentration is EDT and the pricing is lower than most of the line, at $160/85/55 for 100/50/30ml, fitting due to the lower concentration and more moderate performance, still better than most designer freshies but noticeably different from some of the darker concoctions in EDP or extrait concentration. I think it’s quite great and will try it again, but I think a bottle is in my future. 8 out of 10

It is little bit sweet and soft mandarin with neroli. Not like any other summer perfumes. Not that sharp but lukewarm. It's not cool, but it's not stuffy. It is very comfortable scent. I was so dumb. I should have bought bigger bottle. 30ml is not enough.

Cologne citrusy, Italian, non-binding, with a dry powder of sweetness in the final wire. With a young, masculine and a little synth feel. For my nose musk, amber and cedar act as a megaphone from the beginning ,but make it already heard and at times, boringly uncomfortable.

Recently got a new Ikea PAX wardrobe, and got rid of a chest of drawers that had this sample in one of my MANY sample bags. I was keen to re-try this, as I couldn't remember anything about it -- Hans graciously included it as a sample with something I had bought. It doesn't feel niche artisanal to me -- in fact, it feels like something Marly would do, or Xerjoff. It smells like a summer 'fresh' fragrance that will spew out 5 or 10 flankers in the next few years -- it's weird in that it does NOT feel, at all, like something Hendley would make. Anyway, bits of citrus, some white floral, and some sweet musks -- nothing I can honestly say I would wear, but it was interesting to sniff it. Not my favourite Hendley...

This was a beautiful citrus aftershave cologne. The kind fathers used to wear in middle of the century. It has a post war appeal to it, very bright and sweet. It didn't speak to me, though. It actually felt like a really good version of something that is quite traditional. I wish there was a modern twist to this, something to set it apart. I liked it, I didn't love it.

A really nice green citrus cologne type scent, but it doesn’t last on me. I soaked myself and it went to barely-there in minutes. That being said, I can still detect whisps at the end of the day if I press my nose to my skin and really suck in. Sad it isn’t stronger, because it’s quite nice, easy to wear and pretty universal.

Perky and fresh citrus opening that leans masculine. Neroli & Cedar. -
