Mrs. Y

The philosophy behind Henry Jacques is quite simple actually. Get the finest ingredients, refine them again to the maximum level possible and blend them in the best, artistic way with no consideration on cost. Mrs Y is a gorgeous fragrance. I took a deep breath of this fragrance and my eyes got closed as the fragrance started sinking in and it evoked a picture of Fletcher Christian's Tahiti, Tahitian flower crowns and garlands as you see them in Mel Gibson's Bounty for a minute! Yep its that good !! The florals are just divine and come together (with little bit of tonka) as one ingredient but Ylang is just slightly more prominent in the beginning. This is decidedly femme. But for a no nonsense, go getter corporate board member or a woman from an aristocratic family. Buying a bottle of the Les Toupies collection 3 would make the wallet lighter by $ 7500 but then we live only once... If you are rich and appreciate the finest things in life then go ahead and indulge. Buying anything else in the place of Mrs Y would be sadly a compromise. Mrs. Y is arguably the most beautiful and elegant perfume I have ever smelled. To my nose, it is a floral bouquet where jasmine, ylang-ylang and iris (detect rose at times) are the most prominent, and in the base, the florals are supported gracefully by tonka bean and vanilla. This is an incredibly complex yet smooth composition, with unmatched quality and craftsmanship. Mrs. Y is part of the exclusive and prestigious Les Toupies collection and is housed in an absolutely stunning flacon - extraordinary crystal cut glass made entirely by hand, and composed of a pattern of handcrafted angles and planes, whose facets capture light like a glittering gemstone. Mrs. Y is an example of French perfumery at its finest. A timeless beauty!

I tried this one at the boutique and it's so good, your eyes start rolling back. Very opulent, gorgeous bouquet, unlike anything I have ever smelled before. I am now going to save up money to get a bottle of this one, since I was so impressedby the composition and quality of this fragrance. Only owners of the crystal bottle get the right to buy the refill for it, which comes with a way less painful pricetag.

Truly Beautiful! Exceptional Sillage. I don't have anything that I can compare this to. It's divinity and complexity bring me back to an Era almost forgotten. Pre WWII. There are certainly more notes then is displayed here and I will leave my full review in 48 Hours.

I am lucky enough to own this. Its one of the great perfumes from Henry Jacques. The finest ingredients with world class blending. Its all about the iris and muguet/Lilly of the valley. Perfection.
