Last Light

The thing about Henry Rose fragrances is that the ones with patchouli are starting with an absolutely beautiful patchouli; rich, sweet/salty, woody, dense, balsamic. No hint of sweat or dirt. So anything they do after the patchouli is at least interesting. Last Light is a sort of turnaround of Mitsouko and a restatement of 24 Faubourg: What if you used the iconic light wash of peach and that Guerlain opening gambit of bergamot. And you kept Mitsouko’s heart note of jasmine. But instead of the base combination of dry vetiver and oakmoss - the spine making Mitsy so heartbreakingly evocative of drying brown leaves and a slow-dying world in Fall - you used patchouli. And not just any patchouli, but a resinous, living, exuberant patch with a clean-skin note of musk? This is Mitsouko before she despaired. And the nod to Hermes’ 24 Faubourg? Beautiful and classic in presentation, 24 Faubourg opens with and maintains a formal orange blossom and iris draped in leaves of green hyacinth, and grounds this with an old-school French patchouli-sandalwood combination lightened a bit with amber. In Last Light, the counter-turn is to a lighter bergamot/jasmine top, a heart of clean-skin musk, and re-imagined with a sweeter, fresher patchouli base. The formal Manhattan upper crust hostess of a museum gala (24 Faubourg) wrapped in hyacinth, orange blossom, and French amber-sandalwood turns and embraces the exuberant, huggable neice with all her fresh and resonant patch and clean musk and jasmine. I just received the entire sample set, and I was immediately drawn to this. It has a beautiful opening and dry down, and was one that was classy, sexy and was not a heavier vanilla scent. I adore this and must have a full bottle immediately. It is classy and to me it leans a bit to the feminine side. This is perfect for the last light of day. Calming, beautiful and memorable. It initially reminds me of Pas Ce Soir with a somewhat fruity opening and with some sweetness, but the patchouli and woods send it a bit more spicy side in my opinion, and apparently it has fruits but they are not listed here. Pas Ce Soir is heavy on the quince and I love it - this is just a bit more spicy but still very sexy. I am going to rock this all summer long, and into the next season. To me this is good for anytime, any place and can move from casual to more formal - it also won't choke someone in close quarters at a show or dinner. Very well done. This is my first experience with this line and I am impressed.

Last Light is the one I ended up picking from the discovery set. On my skin, this works the best out of the 7. From the notes, I thought I would dig Jake’s House the most. That one ended up being one of my least favorites (I’m very picky about my fresh scents), but this one is right up my alley. Along with the fruitiness and fantastically smooth, slightly earthy patchouli, I get a bit of lavender as well. The woody accord adds just the right amount of depth and warmth to the fragrance. Finally the soft musk just blends perfectly with my skin as the scent dies down. For a second, I thought Torn was going to be my jam, but that one just ended up being too floral for my taste. But I really dig this one! Definitely not a room filler, but fantastic quality. A treat for the wearer and anyone who gets close enough to smell it. I get a good 6-7 hours out of this. Can’t complain for it being a “clean” fragrance. I recommend getting one of the Henry Rose sample sets. Really classy stuff!

No one is more annoyed than I am how much I enjoy many of the releases from this house, a celebrity line of "clean" fragrances. Blease 😭😭😭 But I really do; Last Light and Torn are my two favorites, and they feel like two sides of the same coin, except what Torn does in vetiver, Last Light does in patchouli. And this patchouli is really nice. It has enough earthiness that it will turn off patchouli haters, but it never falls completely into head shop territory. The fruity notes at the top and the musk keep it somewhat elevated, youthful but refined. The sillage is really lovely, and I can catch whiffs of it for hours, making my mouth water. Wear this with a gauzy floral dress and heavy combat boots. A taupe suede moto jacket completes the look. ETA: the person downthread who said it smells like the light blue Mr. Sketch marker is right on the money! Also Fragrantica please fix the notes or make it so users can suggest notes because this is ridiculous.

This fragrance is a spicy, woody, slightly floral peach scent. It is well blended and a scent that is very safe and comforting. It smells very young to me and I am not a young woman anymore but I still bought it because it reminds me of that feeling of youth, the freedom, the sweetness of life, just like the sweetness of a peach in the summertime. The woodiness of this fragrance is light, not heavy, it just shows there is depth just under the surface, waiting to be discovered. It is a very innocent and light perfume, easy to wear and easy to be around.

Wholly cow, this one is just great ! Especially the dry down is awesome like a baige/ white paper, or wood-like cleanliness, something expensive (I'm assuming it is a musk), used to smell that part in costly men's cologne. Stayed for hours for me 1x on each side behind my ears. I cannot smell it, as soon, as I spray on, that is a good thing for me, otherwise I would get nauseous, if I smell any perfume for too long (I guess it is a good chemistry with my skin. And brain cells 😉) but people can smell it on me for the whole day.

Last Light was my signature nighttime scent for a while. On my skin it smells deliciously peachy, and the patchouli and musk keep it from being too sweet. It has a great balance. It’s been out of my rotation for a bit, but I’ve been layering with different body mists to bring it back into the fold. Goes great with Phlur’s Peach Skin or Vanilla Skin!

I absolutely love this scent the peach and patchouli together is heavenly. It's a sexy earthy and musky peach. My only complaint is like most other Henry Rose the projection is minimal I have to stick my wrist to my nose to smell it. Love layering it with Peach Skin from Phlur as somone on here had suggested! A hit for date night

I bought the discovery set of 10. This was my favorite. It starts off floral but that fades within a short time and the musk comes though. It does feel like the end of a busy day with your floral perfume lingering on your skin mingled with random smells from your adventures.

Nice. I get grapefruit, peach, black pepper, patch, and musk. Clean and sophisticated; I like it.

The light, fruity top notes gave it a fresh and lasting presence. The peach really stood out on my skin. There was a distinct Henry Rose DNA in the base (patchouli, vanilla, and vetiver) that was familiar yet given new life with the fruity opening. That was my first impression, and I was excited to own a bottle. After wintering with a couple of the perfume house’s different fragrances, my love for Last Light has waned. A number of their perfumes carry the patchouli and vanilla DNA in varying degrees, mixed with different, distinguishing notes. Yet, I find that familiar base stands out. Annoyingly so. Dark is Night, and Char are the biggest offenders. Yet, even my one-time house favorite, Fog, is now somewhat ruined by pervasive vanilla/patchouli. I'm truly sad that these notes have become an issue for me. Thankfully, Last Light is a lighter take on the familiar DNA. I'm optimistic that I can use it as a layering fragrance and make it a little more bearable.

I get quite a bit of fruit, prominent and natural-smelling jasmine (weirdly, I don't get a lot of jasmine when I put my nose to my wrist, but it radiates subtly and gorgeously), and lots of musks and woods. The fruit isn't bright; here the impression is more like a Cézanne still life of a bowl of fruit than it is bright and freshly-plucked. I've not gotten along with peach notes historically, but its dark muskiness is really pleasing here. It works well with the dusky, sensual feel of this fragrance. It's just a beautiful scent that reminds me of a fine dining al fresco. I'm very curious to try others from this line. The classiest boba shop in the downtown art district. There’s an unspoken uniform of an asymmetrical fringe and a colorblocked jumper, the chairs are actually interlocking sculptural pieces, and the patrons will either sneer at you or ask for your number—no in between!, but goddamn it, the boba’s too good to give up to the art student mob. By all of which to say— jasmine, peach, and bergamot give the impression of high quality tea, there’s a delightful milk-sweetness, and a warmth from the amber. And maybe the patchouli is giving me the art student vibes, ha, but I don’t consciously register it or the white woods. This is one of my favorite fragrances. Comforting, photorealistic, a little sweet but not cloying in the slightest.

This does wear as more unisex or masculine on me, but I get almost no detectable floral notes whatsoever (I would've never thought there were floral notes in it if I had not looked them up) and the peach, while gorgeous and realistic, lasts all of 30 seconds before becoming completely undetectable. It smells like a warm, slightly powdery, patchouli and musk on me. I do like it a lot, it's a really wearable, calming, uplifting/happy, and grounding scent, but I'm a huge fan of Dark is Night, Torn, Queens & Monsters, and Char, so I guess this was slightly disappointing because I had high expectations. It also fades very quickly on me compared to other HR fragrances, and wears like a skin scent.

Last Light is a creamy floral, with touches of peach and vanilla. At times it reminds me a bit too much of an early aughts Body Shop outlet, and sometimes I think I can discern a whiff of fresh sugar cookie or Love's Baby Soft. On me I find this fragrance clean and inoffensive, but not exactly captivating. The musk scent, while apparent, isn't too heady. After a pretty short time, this fragrance stops having any real projection and starts being more of a skin scent. More what I'd call comforting and cozy than alluring or intoxicating.

What is wrong with the notes list on Fragrantica? This is described as a peach fragrance on the official website, and it is very obviously a peachy-musky fragrance if you smell it. But somehow the "notes" here has no peach. It is a very pleasant smell but seems a bit too obviously fruity and a bit feminine for me personally.

Bright and beautiful. It is as if Narciso Rodriguez For Her and D&G Light Blue Intense had a baby, and the baby inherited both their characteristics, though toned down. I don't look like Narciso Rodriguez For Her because of too much musk, but I love this. I also like Light Blue Intense.

This really has the best peach note. Its short lived but so so good. Definitly recommend buying when its on sale or at a discount store. I see the light and am racing towards it, bathing in this sweet peach bliss. I smell of a radiant peach in a holy white light as I am raptured away.

Wait, do I like patchouli? I always thought I hated it, but I'm really digging the earthier notes in this scent mixed with musk. On my skin the peach is very distinct, with a a soft floral background. It oscillates between a subtle feminine and masculine scent, very switch.

A pretty, musky, slightly floral peach-and-patchouli thing. One of the nicer of the more feminine fragrances from Henry Rose. This is not very powerful, but certainly it's stronger than something like Sheep's Clothing from the same house.

This is actually a pretty nice patchouli scent! For the few notes it has I was nervous patchouli would take over but its very balanced. A little sharp but muskier when it dries down. This would be good for a night scent.

I love this scent. My Husband says I smell like a hippy when I wear it. It’s intoxicating I cannot pick out notes very well blended. I heard from a friend about this line and so far last light is my favorite.

Peach nectar, musk and dry woods. Fruity but only mildly sweet, soft and powdered. More mature than other Henry Rose fragrances I’ve sampled, but by no means old - it’s elegant, classic, feminine.

I’m getting a synthetic dirt-raspberry-aldehyde-patchouli feeling which is really out of left field for this brand and thoroughly enjoyable.

Patchouli, smoke, roses and florals. Flowerbomb organic version to compare. I find this whole line odd and different in some respect. I sprayed this on and lost the scent in 1hr or so. However I kept smelling it on my clothes throughout the day. I guess its there, my skin absorbs it in but it stays on my clothes. This could be nighttime perfume, but it stays close to the wearer. I find her scents replica of other perfumes, with non toxic ingredients as claimed. These ingredients do not smell like the best quality. I wear this whenever, to go through this sample.

Slight nail polish remover, Garnier Fructis shampoo, peach, and then a very masculine, dry musk and patch. The opening and the finish are two different types of scents, one a fresh shampoo scent and the other a traditional light men's cologne. They are dissonant to my nose. Final drydown is a warm dryer sheet musk. This brand. I feel, crutches heavily on a linear white musk and a woods blend and it feels very mainstream, almost like a layering set with a couple of base blends. I like most of these scents but not sure yet if I would purchase.

Peach. Shampoo vibes. Maybe a little patch way down at the end. A short lived skin scent on me. Like a mayfly- a spring ephemeral not intended to stick around.

The ingredients for this are way off on Fragrantica. At first smell I get a very unripened peach with a hint of citrus and pine needles. It's not bad per say. Then the peach starts to smell increasingly synthetic. When the dry down hits all I get is patchouli, musk and dirt. It's not a clean smelling fragrance. Ended up needing to remove it so can't comment on how long lasting it was.

When in high school, I would buy a Patchouli oil in a head shop near LSU campus. When first applies, it smells exactly like it, but much milder. While it last longer than some Henry Roase fragrances.., it isn't by much. It dries down and is almost gone from the skin in under an hour.

Got a rollerball of this at the same time that I purchased Queens & Monsters. On my skin, the musk comes through loud and clear. I was hoping to love the fruitiness, but it doesn't work for me.

Last Light falls flat on my skin, the patchouli being too earthy for me. Of the scents from 2019, I prefer Jake’s House. Looking forward to trying Queens and Monsters.

The way that people tell me that I smell good when I’m wearing this... the tone of voice is like WHY do you smell so good HOW do you smell so good WHAT is that. And it is a sort of mysterious scent to me, the notes are pretty hard to place if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I know that it’s peach, because that’s the opening but other people just get a sort of Smokey woody sweetness. I love it. After trying about a zillion scents looking for something less toxic than designer fragrances, this is the one I got a full bottle of. The only problem is that bottle is going pretty fast because it’s not very strong or long lasting. I use it about the way I would use a body spray and I reapply if for some reason I come home mid day. Unfortunately it’s $120 body spray. If it was $80 I think I could justify it, but at $120 I’m still sampling around looking for something that might outperform this. Also I will say that fog was my real favorite Henry rose scent, I liked it better than last light but performed even worse and does not last at all.

Just got my sample set today, $20 for 5 bigger ones, not bad at all given the quality and non-toxic ingredients, also not tested on little squeakers. Well done, Michelle. I have been feeling sad lately and so seeing this on my doorstep was a soothing treat -- pleasing to know I had some sniffing ahead for the evening. This one was my first try since I love floral woody musk. Last Light has a gentle streak of patchouli which I normally avoid but like here. It and the musk work well together. Floral is very subtle. And I love the name since twilight is my favorite time of day. Let's see how this lasts. I just sprayed it on my scarf and throat so far.

This is my favorite Henry Rose. I couldn't place the peach notes until I read the other reviews. But I love that it's sweet and sharp and fresh at the same time. Many of the other Henry Rose 'rich' scents run a little to vanilla for me. Was surprised to see people list Jake's house as a favorite. I was honestly a little bored by it, but might be time to revisit. This line is also great in that I haven't had an allergic reaction to any of the scents. Definitely had issues with other perfumes.

I typically do not gravitate toward patchouli scents, but this one is so smooth and lovely. Henry Rose does an incredible job with blending patchouli. I am also a fan of Dark is Night, and I cannot decide if I want to purchase a full bottle of Last Light or Dark is Night. They are both stunning and sultry. Dark is Night just leans more vanillic, whereas Last Light is a bit more fruity and sparkly.

The opening is so gorgeous. This one smells expensive right from the start. It makes me think of people rich enough to vacation in places where time is spent doing activities involving wearing white - tennis, afternoon tea, evenings under twinkling lights gazing over water. Dries down to smell very sweet on me.

I definitely get a peach note in this. The patchouli is so beautifully done but i wish this was a tad stronger and not so much a skin scent. I did have to spray a lot on to get a good whiff. Queens and monsters will always be my fav, but i got this at a discounted price which im glad.

I Sampled this as a guy to a friends birthday party and i did not like it at all. I dont know how any guy can pull this off and not smell stupid. Its a female fragrance and not Unisex. All you smell is a floral peach with patchouli. Another bad release by Henry Rose

Green and smooth. It's pleasant but I'm not sure the short lifespan is worth the cost of a full bottle. I'm excited for clean fragrance lines to figure out a way to get scents to last longer. I understand why they're so short-lived, though.

I ordered the HR full discovery pack. On me, this is a straight up patchouli bomb. Its strangely a comforting scent. I don't mind it but, I'm thinking this would be better suited as a evening/bedtime scent for me.

It's nice but too sweet for me as a guy. I mostly get peach and florals on top of a very slight patchouli base. I own 3 other Henry Rose scents and this one seems to stick around the longest and the loudest.
