London 1983

I sprayed Henry Rose Ripe first, because I’ve been looking for the perfect fruity scents, but it missed the mark. On my skin it smelled generic and more floral with a hint of fruit in the background. So I washed it off, and tested London 1983. I sprayed it on paper first, nervous that it would turn out equally annoying as Ripe, but it was quite the opposite. It was like instant nostalgia, but I don’t know to what. After sitting and sniffing for a bit, I think it brings me back to my childhood. Getting ready for bed, putting Nivea cream on my face with my godmother, and then crawling under freshly laundered sheets in my bed at my godparents’ house, one of my safest spaces as a kid. This is a perfect any day anywhere scent. It is not offensive in anyway. It’s fresh, but not in a citrus clean or aquatic way. In a freshly laundered sheets, or just got out of the shower skin scent. It’s a bit white musk, a hint of warm, powdery floral. I really like it, and I can’t stop sniffing my arm.

Lovely skin scent with lasting power. Opens with beautiful peppery figgy note. It smells extrememly clean (but not in a dryer sheet way more like a clean fruit and musky skin way) Lasts longer on my skin than both Glossier You and Father Figure (if we are comparing to other popular skin scents). I find it to be very familiar smelling and comforting. Not sure where I am getting it from but its almost reminiscent to a hot black tea with notes of fruits and florals in it. Sillage isnt great but neither are many skin scents, however it does sit on my skin for hours (6-7 hrs). I feel like this is a great signature scent, not too wild but also not too basic, can wear in all weather. I havent tried yet but I assume it will be a great layering perfume.

i am obsessed with this perfume. i got it 2 weeks ago and have gone through too much already! i think this is so addictive. in the opening, i get a smokiness that i think is so sexy and chic. after a few minutes, i get more of the fig and florals. the base of this is what makes it the perfect skin scent in my opinion. i get the Father Figure comparisons, but i personally feel like they’re very different. i definitely see the comparisons in the openings. however, Father Figure dried down like a very powdery vanilla + patchouli combo on me (my 2 least favorite notes) and i returned my travel size. London 1983 dries down to a woody skin scent, which is way more my vibe. this is signature scent worthy

This has more of a clean woody vibe and is less powdery and a bit less fruity than father figure! I like it more because of that. The opening reminded me of Philosykos from diptyque and the retired Phlur scent Hanami, which I adored! I have Ledda Orris 22 and a travel size of Phlur father figure, and those are far more similar to each other. This is a slightly different profile and worth a try if you really like things in this family! Edited to add: I’ve been wearing this for a few days now and agree with the user below that in the dry down this does have le labo another 13 vibes! That molecular scent really shines in the dry down, but in a soft and cozy way, and I’m loving it.

When this was compared to Father Figure I thought to myself “it truly can’t be THAT similar”. As someone who’s collected almost the entire HR line, I do tend to see similarities between their frags vs. popular scents on the market. Usually it’s a crisp, clean, well balanced and sophisticated version of what it’s being compared to. I don’t think anyone is being “duped” tbh, this is a popular profile. I’d say of the two, this is my favorite. But if I knew just how similar they’d be, I’d have waited to finish my bottle of FF before purchasing this. If FF is your boyfriend’s tee, this is his button down. It’s less sweet and Orcanox in general is a note I’ve fallen in love with.

Bought this for my boyfriend because he seemed to like Father Figure. From the bottle, they are almost identical. However, London has much better longevity. I also find it a bit more floral. I don't get that "edge" or "grunginess" that people describe this scent to have. To me, it's a very unisex, clean scent with a fruity and peppery top note. After a few hours, it's a sweet-smelling white musk. More of a fresh, sophisticated scent than gritty. That being said, I really love it. Worth it to get this over Father Figure if you want a scent that projects and lasts.

I find this to be such a nostalgic and comforting fragrance. It is soft, clean and relaxing. Somewhere in it I pick up on a honeyed sweetness though I'm not sure where that's coming from. It's perfect day or night, regardless of the time of year. I find myself reaching for it often when I've had a long, hard day at work. It's a great fragrance to wear after washing the day off. An ideal wind-down bedtime scent. I started out with a travel size but need to upgrade. Lovely.

I love this scent SO much. Unfortunately, this perfume disappears without a trace on skin. It barely lingers on clothes. I have to push my snoot right up into my sleeve to get anything after maybe half an hour. My B&BW body mists last longer on both skin and clothes. It has a beautiful peppery opening and a warm, comforting, nostalgic dry down. I just can’t justify a $120 full bottle purchase for a scent that doesn’t stick around to be enjoyed.

Pleasantly surprised by the dry-down of this fragrance. The musky and faintly sweet aroma is great. Might be my favorite from this house. As with other fragrances from Henry Rose, it doesn’t last as long as I’d like and I wish it was a bit more potent, but this is probably the longest lasting from HR I’ve experienced. It’s quite unisex. If you’re curious, I would say it’s definitely worth a blind-buy, it doesn’t have any downsides.

This is blind-buy safe if you like Father Figure by Phlur. It’s a tad less sweeter than FF and a hint more musky/animalic; almost reminds me of Le Lab Another 13 in the deep drydown. Redundant to own both but of the two I prefer London 1983. Its seems higher quality/stronger and overall a tad more interesting. Plus Henry Rose as a brand is super underrated with an ethos I can get behind.

HELL YEAH. 1000% worth the current hype, and jump-started my latest fig/sheer/musk obsession. Extremely similar to Father Figure, but I do prefer London as I feel like it is a bit smoother/less harsh green that FF gets on the opening. Truly an all-season, any occasion, unisex fragrance. I love it so much.

this is a gorgeous scent and I wish the sillage was better than it is. sweet but not overpowering fig with a background of black pepper and a slightly green and aquatic water lily. it smells like a claude monet painting and I love that. very pretty on the drydown when I sniffed my wrist after a shower.

Father figure but with more woods + spicy black pepper and a slightly less prominent fig (but still done in the same green tinged way). The musk in this is sooo addicting and satisfying to smell ☁️ Definitely unisex. I love it!! Such a unique scent profile although very very similar to FF. 🌫️☁️💚🪵💥🫧🌬️

I was obsessed at 1st sniff. A simply gorgeous scent i love how sophisticated it smells. Unlike anything else I have. I can see the similarities between this and father figure, but this wins hands down. More sexy and grown up than ff. I am very pleased and blind buy safe! Sexy, fruity and musky

I love the non toxic scents of henry rose. I smelled this in store and reminded me of jpg le male le parfum. Ended up buying it, and tested side by side the two and I was right on. Le Male Le Parfum and this smell 90% similar which I love because I've switched to all non toxic fragrances.

Smells very similar to Father Figure by Phlur, but I like the notes better in this one. Unfortunately, I find that it dissipates quickly and has low sillage. I get the fig in a very dry way as accented by the spicier woods underneath. It’s delicious, I just wish it was stronger

For me it’s as if Byredo Bal D’Afrique and Glossier You created the perfect golden child. The opening does smell slightly smoky, like cigarettes, but in a good way... considering I don’t like the smell of cigarettes. The dry down is stunning. This is an absolute love for me.

Very beautiful for daytime in the spring/summer. Just very light and does not last too long on me. I would say this is identical to Father Figure from Phlur, which also does not last very long.

This is a blind buy win for me. It's perfectly unisex and is somehow soft, yet has a slight edge to this. Perfect for year round daytime wear or a Spring/Summer night.

Edited my original review to say that,after maceration, I've fallen in love with London 1983. It's a lovely musky fig, that feels both interesting and enjoyable.

This has great longevity. Sprayed in the morning and could smell after 9 hours. It is Father Figure with added muskiness. Love this fragrance!

This on my skin smelt just like jpg le male le parfum. I loved it but only lasted about an hour till it was a weak skin scent

Finally a Henry Rose fragrance that I adore! London 1983 is clean and refreshing.

First Impression from a travel size. On paper London 1983 smells very similar if not spot on to BBW Guilty As Fig or Daukens Arome Co Fig Poppa. Which I happen to really enjoy both. A musky, sweet, slightly woody fruity fig. Beautiful florals playing together with this warm spicy vibe. Fresh and fruity at the same time. Not a juicy fig, but definitely sweet. This fragrance just makes me feel good. A fresh comforting fruity floral. I think the comforting aspect comes from the black pepper note. I've smelled Father Figure once and have no memory of it so to speak, but when I smellled Guilty As Fig, Fig Poppa, and London 1983 I wanted full bottles. I'm very pleased to have given London 1983 a sniff as Guilty As Fig perfume and body mist are no longer available!!! Fig Poppa is still available and is amazing. So London 1983 is fantastic but not a must have at the moment.

Like most have noted, this is very similar to Father Figure by Phlur. Both fragrances has a very dominate fig note in their DNA but the base notes is what sets each other apart for me. While Father Figure is a more straight forwarded fig scent with floral notes to blend out its sweet edges, London has a woody skin like base. While to me Father Figure falls flat, London has more dimension with its peppery note, making it a more skin-like scent. The only downside to London is how it has the longevity of a whisper. From initial spray, it lasts about 2 hours and becomes a fade skin scent from the 2-4 mark.

It smells more like fig skin than fig fruit with some white florals and a bit of an indistinguishable fruity note that I wouldn't describe as fig and a hint of musk. It honestly smells like freshly washed hair by Garnier Fructis, indistinguishable generic-leaning white florals and fruits but very clean. Its a pretty scent, I could see it being someone's every day. It's got more of a fem lean too I think. @alliesmells reviewed this on YouTube and Tiktok. Nailed it I think.

First Impression: 9.1/10 Soft fig, laundry, floral with a touch of sweet citrus. Firmly unisex. This is the type of cologne that is great for day or evening. Last Impresson: 6.5/10 Veers feminine quickly. Fades hard by lunch, gone by dinner. Verdict: Average longevity. Dries down on the skin to being quite floral/musky. This behaves like most Henry Rose fragrances: ends up smelling very "essential oils", which is to say one-note and often feminine leaning.

This is fresh and beautiful but I can barely smell it even over spraying like a crazy person. I can tell that it’s fig but it’s just so soft and fades so quickly on me that I am not sure it’s worth it. I like Gris Charnel, Parisian Musc, or Fig Porn better because they are all much stronger. This will be a good bedtime scent or a nice airplane or doctor visit perfume. Clean, nice, inoffensive freshie.

it's quite pleasant but it literally smells exactly like Father Figure by Phlur. Doesn't smell natural or skin-like to me. Smells very product-y like hair leave-in or shampoo. I tested this outside of sephora in my own home, and it reminds me of the sephora store. Kinda fruity but like a green fruity, almost cucumber? I don't like cucumber notes in perfume, unfortunately, as it makes me nauseous.

It could have been really good, but unfortunately went a bit overboard with the fig in the lab, especially considering the name. London 1983 sets expectations for something grittier, smokier, and more cinematic than the boring and inoccent fruity fig scent you actually get.That said, it layers well with other fragrances.

A smooth fig that is not milky or green. It’s a blend of natural, purple fig + wood AND a scent profile that’s common in luxury hotel lotions, spearmint + eucalyptus + wood. A very relaxing skin scent with a presence that lasts. If it projected better I would get a full bottle.

Approaching Father Figure dupe territory. I love Father Figure and therefore enjoy this, but seriously? $120 for London 1983 and $99 for the OG. There are veeeeeery slight differences between them, but it's up to you to decide whether it's $20 worth.

This is a sexy musk scent, I really quite like it. I also own Father Figure and I'm sorry, but all I smell there is a screechy hairspray note that's kind of faint. This one though, I can smell it and it's very good. This is a cool girl/hot guy scent.

Layers wonderfully with Queens & Monsters. On me, it opens with the black pepper and sweet fig and then transitions into mainly musk, although I think it's an elevated and sophisticated one that I would distinguish from many others I've tried.

Smells just like Phlur Father Figure but I think this is a bit stronger which I enjoy. If it really is stronger and longer lasting the higher price seems worth it to me.

Gorgeous true unisex scent. Fresh but Smokey and very relaxing to my nose. It is similar to father figure but it is way less sweet. I really enjoy it.

This is Father Figure by PHLUR. Literally the same perfume. Maybe 5% different and I prefer Father Figure.

Love the opening of this wish it lasted longer, drydown is very similar to white rice by d’annam

A truly nostalgic scent. You’ve smelled this before. Smells like my badass bohemian middle school art teacher who wore stacks of bangles & beads, rings on every finger, paint splattered jeans, & scuffed Docs. This fragrance is cousins with Father Figure. To my nose, 1983 is more provocative: it opens with a cigarette smoke smell, but not in an off-putting way (weirdly), leaning heavy into musk. Definitely get the reference to the gritty, 80s London punk scene. Dries down to violet & patchouli on me. It’s not as soft, powdery, or green as Father Figure. It’s a “thick” scent - not fresh or light in any way - better suited to nighttime.

finally got my nose on this and i'm not sure how i feel about it entirely. don't get me wrong, it's a very pretty, barely-there fragrance, but it didn't blow me away. it had a dna very similar to sheep's clothing (from the same house) and reminded me a bit of glossier you, but i didn't get any figgy goodness that others rave about :( i think this is a safe blind buy or gift, but wasn't anything crazy to write home about

close wearing skin scent, unfortunately nothing to write home about. henry rose is one of my favorite houses, but this is probably my least favorite from them. there's nothing offensive about it, but it was nearly undetectable while worn with sunscreen - very easily overpowered, which is not something i'm ever looking for in a fragrance. based on the name, i was expecting something very different

Smells better than Queens & Monsters and Ripe, but the scent is fleeting and nearly non-existent on skin. I'm really tired of these Unisex fragrances which don't really work for anyone. As a woman, I don't want to wear it. Might work better for a man I suppose. Notewise, it's a musky fig...we've never seen that before (I'm being facetious). No interest whatsoever.

This perfume left me stumped. I didnt love it, i didnt hate it. I think its incredibly aptly named, as a londoner I cant figure out why. Its cheaper counterpart is phlur father figure though 1983 has an intense peppery start which goes really well with the fig and blonde woods. Wont buy a full bottle but can see this having great appeal

This is so mediocre - smells exactly like father figure (like many others have noted) but slightly less headache-inducing. I returned this and wouldn't really recommend it unless you adore father figure but want to pay more for it (or maybe if you love father figure but it gives you a headache).

the pepper is definitely the most prominent note on my skin. it mixes with the wood in a way that is reminiscent of tobacco, i don’t pick up on the fig as much as i do in father figure by phlur, which to my nose has a very similar DNA. i’d probably like this more if the sillage was better

almost identical to Father Figure by Phlur. exactly the smell of your British boyfriend fresh out the shower, smoking a cig on the balcony of your London flat. fresh but also a bit grungy.

I’m not getting the expensive, sexy, coolness that other folks smell. It smells cheap to me. I almost can’t smell it, but it lands very feminine and soapy a couple hours after spraying it. I sprayed a lot on in Sephora and more than one person asked me what I was wearing to say they didn’t like it. The next day it made the clothes I was wearing smell like Tide detergent. I wore it again, and the best thing I can say about it is that it smells nice on my clothes two days later. I can’t really bring myself to wear it again. There are definitely more sophisticated and complex fig and musk smells that I prefer on my skin.
