Windows Down

Henry Rose brand was on my radar for a while, but I never had a chance to try it or order the discovery set. Sadly, testers weren't available at the nearby stores. Fortunately, I received 2 samples with my recent Nordstrom purchase and realized I was definitely missing out. Wow! Windows Down is an absolutely stunning scent. Love at first sniff. It smells natural, fresh, light, uplifting. Tea gives it nice relaxing quality. Citruses give it freshness and energizing quality. When I smell this scent, I imagine spring when nature starts to blossom, air is crisp, clean, and lush. You open the windows to let this air in. It's like being in a spring park or garden in bloom. What is it similar to? I'd put it in the vicinity of Roger & Gallet The Vert, Aqua di Parma Arancia di Capri/Bergamotto di Calabria, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, Dior Homme Cologne. It's similar to Moss by Commodity but I find Moss more green and aromatic. I love this fragrance to the point when I'm ready to ditch all my other daytime scents and keep only this one fragrance as my daytime scent. It's versatile: I can wear it to work, for other casual occasions, and to formal events. I don't think anyone would be offended by this scent (unless people find tea and citrus scents unpleasant). And the main selling point to me: it doesn't contain potential carcinogens, endocrine disruptors and phthalates, so it's a perfect option for those who care about choosing healthier products for themselves and those around them. I love the transparency about ingredients. All of that without compromising the quality of the scent - it's fabulous! I don't understand the low rating - what is it about this scent to dislike? Do yourself a favor, and get yourself the discovery set. You're welcome.

I love this Henry Rose scent. (It's my #2 favorite from the brand with Torn and Dark is Night being #1 and #3, respectively). This is fresh, energizing grapefruit citrus - not too sweet. It smells amazing all day and I love how it changes - I had to give it more of a chance because at first the citrus top notes were all I could smell and I was more drawn to other Henry Rose scents, thinking they were more complex...but if you just wear Windows Down and give it a chance - it is much more interesting than at first sniff. I smell bergamot, grapefruit, floral and tea notes, and it's grounded with light woodiness and musk. The marketing (and name "Windows Down") for this scent evoke a sense of Summer and freedom - I definitely get that vibe from this scent. Unisex, chic, clean, uplifting scent. I've been wearing it a lot now that it's warmer weather when I want a fresh perfume. Chanel Chance Eau Vive reminds me of this but with a sweet feminine vibe - love that one too. Windows Down leans unisex/masculine.

This fragrance hits all of the right notes for me, and I think it could actually be one of my favorite fragrances of all time. The tea note is forward but not overly so, giving it some depth and complexity, and the white flowers and musks make it alluring. I actually bought a travel size of this as a gift for my friend after sampling it, as I felt like it would have been something she would like. I didn't buy one for myself initially because I was there to buy the gift and wanted to exercise self-restraint, but I sampled it again after she opened the gift and I liked it so much that I ended up going back to the store and getting a travel size for myself. I normally don't buy full sizes unless I finish a travel size, which doesn't happen often for me just because I have so many travel sizes and rotate them. However I think I will be buying the full size of this once I finish my travel size.

This scent IS earl grey to me. This is a steeping mug of black tea with a squeeze of lemon in it. Perfect for a Spring day after it's rained. Very light and girly This is a great work/class scent that isn't too offensive for a professional setting but still a compliment-magnet. People have complained about the projection and longevity on this which I totally understand, but for a daytime practical scent I feel like this accomplishes exactly what I need it to accomplish. This just has to do with personal preference, mine being to wear something out that isn't too offensive, something I can smell on my arm throughout the busy day to bring me some calm. THAT BEING SAID if anyone has any tips / layering combos that make this last longer PLEASE gimme <3

Windows Down Henry Rose: The first spray can have a strong, sharp, fresh spicy smell so you should spray it in areas that is far from ur nose and let the sillage reach ur nose instead. At first use, i spray it on my sternum and its warfing a bit too much on my face. its definitely stronger than i thought. but as that first waft dissipates it smells really nice, like a sexy, comfy rose bath with candles, good wine and a book to read. The top note doesn't stay long, probably because of citrusy notes, but thankfully I'm not that big of a fan of this mix. The middle note, which smells like bergamot and rose in iced tea, stays and makes you feel so sexy and relaxed at the same time. It's a complex fresh, mildly bitter smell. Definitely a favorite now.

Smells like chile mango and chamoy. Omg, reminds me of the chamoy gummies I would get in LA when I was learning piano. A paprika focus, unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before. I feel like if you layered it with Salted Green Mango by Strangers Parfumerie it would be heaven. Edit: Drydown is sunscreen, clean towels, and only the barest hint of what existed at the beginning. Still good in a creamy sunscreen way, but the initial 30-60 minutes is doing the heavy lifting. Edit 2: In a way, it still carries that LA vibe. Eating something fruity and spicy, maybe a little dusty, and putting on sunscreen to make sure you don't bake in the sun.

Something about this on initial spray reminds me of Victoria's Secret Love Spell and takes me back to my middle school gym locker (only for a second!). Thankfully it's a much more soft and non-cloying version of that, and dries down on me to a lovely musky citrus. Truly reminiscent of the feeling of driving around with your windows down on the first warm day of spring. I originally bought a discovery set from Henry Rose, and while I've loved a lot of the scents from them, this was the first sample I used up all the way. edit: After trying Le Labo's Another 13, this reminds me of a stronger, more citrus forward version of that.

I LOVE this perfume. It makes me feel so fresh. I'm a sucker for a clean scent, and I love that the citrus notes remain present for hours, rather than fading after the initial spray. The tea note is also unusual, but so calming. The overall effect is light, clean, and fresh without being basic. I can't wait to get the full size, hopefully for the holidays (it's expensive)--my travel size has like 3 molecules left and I keep smelling it and dreaming of wearing it again.

my holy grail, the most lovely fragrance i’ve yet to come across. californian hills and canyons in summertime drinking iced white tea. sunshine in a bottle. exactly what you want in a summer fragrance. i will never stop repurchasing this absolute art piece of a fragrance. not only does this smell so subtlety euphoric while keeping a tame demeanor, but it takes you back to memories you don’t even have. quite literally magic in a bottle.

Grapefruit and Earl Grey tea. This is not a warm, milky, sweet cup of tea - it’s brewed strong and iced. Paired with the grapefruit you get a potent, zesty and effervescent, mildly bitter, citrus dominant tea scent with good sillage and longevity. Drydown is centered around oakmoss - wet, earthy, woody - and soft musk, with citrus remaining a strong note throughout. Very refreshing, firmly unisex, perfect for a spring or summer day.

This perfume is definitely within my top 3 all-time favorites and exactly what I was looking for. The earl grey is phenomenal (one of my favorite scents), and the grapefruit and bergamot enhance that splendidly. But for me, the clincher is that the perfume is totally non-toxic and doesn't have any unpleasant fake chemical undertone to it. An absolute win. I just wish that the fragrance were a bit stronger, but oh well!

really pretty and fresh. the opening reminds me of opening a bottle of lemon-lime sparkling water. over time, the tea smell starts to take centre stage and you're left with the green herbal earl grey. it makes me feel even cleaner when I spritz it on post-shower. the earl grey smell is SUPER photorealistic, which was unexpected. I just sorely wish this lasted longer.

I was looking for something uplifting for spring and decided to try this from my box of samples. The tea scent really comes through on my skin, then it dries into a kind of musky spice as the day goes on. Windows Down evokes the springtime version of Skylar's Autumn Cashmere - not in scent but in vibe. It's cosy, comforting, and refreshing.

Even with Sedley next to it I still find myself reaching for it just as much. Its super easy to wear and just such a nice scent. It smells like fresh clean sheets with if you rubbed them with bergamot and tea leaves. It's something you'd wear super casually when you don't want to be too intrusive but also just want to smell really nice.

Quite pretty, my favorite of the brand’s discovery kit I had. Smells like peaceful tea and fresh orange blossoms blooming in the air. Probably the only one I’d seek to purchase but not until it makes it to a discount shelf simply because the longevity/projection is just not there. Lasted like 2 hours on me sadly

Immediate new signature scent as soon as I discovered it. The refreshing citrusy top notes make it an easy summer daily-wear but i can’t help but reach for it year round for the subtle yet satisfying earl grey note that evokes cozy memories for me. It gets me compliments almost every time i wear it

Really, really nice citrus and tea scent. I can't smell the neroli in this (thank god bc I don't like neroli) and I can smell a little of the orange blossom. It smells like cruising past a citrus grove on a cool, late spring morning. Very uplifting, fresh, and freeing! Love this one.

Perfect. This smells very much like Ethereal Wave by Liis, not exactly the same but you don't need both. Windows down is slightly more unisex leaning. It smells sweet, yet bitter. Very clean. Like shampoo and iced tea near a laundry mat. Love it.

Really like this. It's certainly not the same, it has a more almost peppery opening, but somehow it has the closest tea note to tea escape which I've been searching for in a perfume for a while. Not sure what it is about it but I'm so happy

love at first spritz!! it’s like a sweet earl grey, very citrusy at first, doesn’t smell warm like you’re drinking the tea, more like you’re smelling it while you wait for your bus in the snow.

Windows Down smells like a breeze coming through the window (should be called Windows Up lol), and you're drinking iced tea. Refreshing, clean, so good.

Love it so much. This is the 1st perfume I’ve bought the instant i smelled it. It smells so nice on me.

I own 3 fragrances from this brand, Dark is Night, Last Light and Queens and Monsters. I also like to keep samples of this brand in my house to give to people to try. I find this brand really appeals to people who are not that into perfume but would like to find one to wear that would be pleasing to themselves and to others they interact w/ in an office etc... I wear my 3 of this brand when I am around a lot of people, this brand is a mass appeal brand while still having a bit of "niche" attitude. So when I found out they had 2 new fragrances in their line I bought some more sample kits. Window's down opens w/ a bright earl grey tea accord, really reminded me of the earl grey tea I drink in the morning for breakfast, then a zingy grapefruit appears and ads a bit of juiciness in the opening. The mid part of the perfume is a soapy neroli, but not heavy, just clean and fresh. You will smell like you just went to the spa for the day and were rubbed down w/ a nicely scented massage oil. The dry down of this fragrance is a light woodiness w/ a subtle oakmoss and musk. This is very clean but masculine in my opinion and I think it would appeal to my husband a great deal. We may spring for a bottle for him at some point. The new fragrance Flora Carnivora is not in the data base yet but I will leave my review of it here..... Flora Carnivora is Henry Rose's 1st true floral perfume. The notes are Orange flower, neroli, jasmine sambac, tuberose, cedarwood, vetiver, musk and ambers. This opens w/ a bright orange flower and soapy neroli, then it becomes a creamy jasmine/tuberose soap type of scent. This smells like a lot of other things on the market, nothing new. Quite a bit of musk and amber coming through in the base. It quite reminds me a bit of Gucci Bloom (original) as it progresses, not in the opening, which is a good perfume but has terrible longevity. This one has a bit more projection and longevity so in my opinion this is a better value. I like both of these perfumes but I don't think I will spring for Flora Carnivora because I have better white florals in my collection but if you want something that is quite like Gucci Bloom that lasts longer this is a good one to try.

I love Michelle Pfeiffer as an actress, which was what initially drew me to Henry Rose, her perfume brand. It has an emphasis on using only clean, safe ingredients, and while this isn't at the top of my list of priorities when choosing a perfume, I was curious to smell them and analyse their performance. Windows Down is my first to try. It is a pleasant freshie, made with good-quality ingredients, but nothing groundbreaking. WD opens with a fresh citrus accord, led by tart bergamot. Some slightly sour grapefruit follows. I get a prominent tea note up top, adding herbal freshness to the citrus accord. Here, it is reminiscent of a tissane. There is a soft chypre-like base throughout, thanks to the oakmoss and woody notes, grounding the citrus nicely. Some neroli prolongs the citrus effect, and it becomes cleanly musky as it fades. Sillage is intimate and longevity is moderate. It is unisex, and is made for warm days. Simple, linear and pretty generic, WD is a reasonably decent freshie, but is overpriced for what it is. Fairly unexciting but an easy reach in warm weather. 2.5/5.

This one genuinely shocked me. I’m a certified citrus hater, I can’t do it, especially not bergamot. This is the first time a primarily citrus perfume hasn’t become unwearable on my skin! Its bright, the white and yellow florals sweeten it considerably, almost towards lemonade. Actually, spraying this on was quite a blast from the past, the dry down heavily reminded me of pink lemonade fizz from bath and body works. I can’t tell you why, I haven’t smelled that perfume in years... but it just does. The mossy notes definitely turn what might be a heavily sweet perfume into something slightly less so, it adds a bit of necessary depth. On my skin I’d say it’s a clean scent, fresh with citrus and light florals, slightly dirtied by the musk and oak moss. Pretty good! But not a love, just fun to smell. It’s not quite my style of everyday perfume.

Nice citrus freshie with a distinct tea note that persists from start to finish. Not too sweet which I appreciate, and it makes it easier to wear in the high heat. Opening blast does smell like a gust ow wind from the outdoors. Not so much a forest, but an open grasslands area. Very light scent that I would wear if I found it for maybe 1/3rd of retail. This is compared to commodity moss and I don't think they are similar aside from both having green notes. If I was asked to choose between the two scents, I would definitely choose commodity moss. You could also go with commodity Bergamot, which went through a bottle last year, and is excellent in the high heat. Or, you could just get Le Labo Bergamote 22 which is far superior all of these scents. ----------------------------------------------- Scent 68/100

Windows Down is an interesting citrus musk with a tea note for character. It smells like Francis Kurkdijan was involved, as it strongly resembles his EA Green Tea and MFK 724 and Petit Matin. I really like this, in fact, every scent in the sample kit is either enjoyable or lovable. For Windows Down, I’d like the tea and citrus to hang around longer than just the fleeting top - it goes to faint white musk and oak moss rather quickly. This is the nature of citrus notes, I know, but the top is really fresh and special, so of course I’d want it to stick around longer.

This smells so good to me, this is so fresh and calming. Bergamot and grapefruit can be a little harsh but they are so smooth and inviting here. However, longevity is pretty non-existent, hence it's a like not a love. I know these types of citrusy tea fragrances generally do not last very long or project much, but this does not last as long as others I've tried in this category (Wulong Cha, Bamboo Harmony, etc.). But if you like this kind of scent profile, and you're ok with a more intimate fragrance and/or don't mind reapplying, it's worth checking out.

This is faint but beautiful with great character. For me the orange blossom is the star, and it is clear and natural, not rubbery and skanky as it sometimes is for me in other formulas. This caught me off guard and took me back to my childhood. I grew up in proximity to two orange groves and was often sent to buy oranges or fresh juice from their storefronts. They sold all sorts of citrus products and many hand made orange blossom soaps and perfumes. This scent is like a snapshot from that time. I may have to get a fb.

I wore this for jury duty haha. I wanted something light clean and fresh, which this is, but the tea note pushes consistently through. I love tea scents so I found it comforting to get whiffs of tea as I moved througout the day. Windows Down is the perfect name for it, like driving through the countryside picking up on different scents, or smelling my mama's tea leaf bushes as I pull up to her house. Ok it's not exactly like my mama's tea leaf bushes but it still has a nice tea vibe.

Lovely, uplifting fragrance. My broad description would be “soft unisex freshie fragrance.” Citrusy, mossy, and aquatic. Reminds me of Bal d Afrique from Byredo with less of the aldehyde/laundry vibe. Also very similar to Pacific Rock Moss from Goldfield & Banks but more floral. Smells very clean and fresh. Longevity, projection and sillage not great. I feel like this fragrance would perform poorly in cold climates or weather. Great morning, just-out-of-the shower type scent.

This is a really fascinating scent its super interesting to smell, it doesnt really last at all though. When you spray it it smells like something very summery.. almost reminds me of the pool for some reason even though there is no chlorine smell. It's more like a sweet citrus drink you would drink at the pool or somehow like the fresh towels in a spa?? Its very pleasant but definitely not worth the price and immediately disappears into slight citrus.

I like this, insanely unisex (can't tell if leaning either way) very soft, very well blended, no complexity, just pure soft floral, a hint of honey, citrus, and a solid TEA note. Overall, sweet and bitter (a great green tea bitter) that sneaks away from you. When you feel as though it's gone (weak performance?) It comes back 10 minutes later. Decent trail, weak sillage, strange performance, but overall definitely overpriced. 6.5/10

Very citrusy but kindof creamy at the same time. Blast of freshness right off the bat. The whole Henry Rose Collection has scents that remind me of other perfumes I have tried/own. This reminds me of a lemon tea - very very similar to White Tea by Elizabeth Arden. Based on similarities, I would not purchase a full bottle. The WT also lasts a lot longer and has better projection.

This is an absolutely lovely mixture of citrus, tea, and orange blossom that would be absolutely perfect for summer. Unfortunately, there are much cheaper equivalent summer colognes that last as long and are equally refreshing. But if you can afford this, go for it--it's very clean and pretty, and one of the nicest offerings from Henry Rose.

I enjoy tea, citrus, and orange blossom notes immensely for spring and summer, so I was compelled to try this. Briefly, upon application, I smell citrus, of course, and summer wildflowers, maybe daisy. It does impart the sensation of airiness. I swear this dries down to garden roses with citrus, making it fresh and uplifting.

Wow, I really love the opening of this perfume (fresh, clean, a little bit green and cozy). The delicate tea note is amazing, but unfortunately, the dry down gets meh. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but for me, the dry down smells like Not a Perfume by JHAG/Milk by Dedcool and I already have those. It's a very common DNA.

Super, super, super, nostalgic smell, like something you'll never forget after just smelling it once. Upon spraying, it's a sweet spice. I saw chamoy in someone else's review, and I 1000% vouch for that; it was very instant. Upon my skin, it just grows more and more sweet. Definitely planning on investing in her.

I got this based on the notes without testing and it did not stay on my skin even a few minutes. I absolutely love their Torn, Queens and Monsters, Fog, Dark is Night and Last Light with incredible longevity. But not this one..The five I mentioned are absolutely fantastic with such uniqueness..

really wish this one lasted longer, its gone within an hour or two of being on my skin. despite this though i still enjoy this scent and will put my bottle to use. its a really interesting, realistic tea scent that just smells like spring time to me. pleasant overall.

Like Rain. Like Windex. And I mean this in the best way possible. Windows down is a slightly sweet but totally clean aquatic that sits close to skin. I like this but don't necessarily want a bottle. This house also always gets bonus points for being nontoxic.

This is a lovely freshie, perfect for summer. No, the performance isn't great but so nice, I'm sure a full bottle is somewhere in my future. Iced tea with lemon... grapefruit and greens..a light woody base. Very inviting...it's like wearing a smile.

Fresh citrus scent with just a pinch of tea and tons of musks that gives this perfume dry white T-shirt feeling. Probably would be good as sport scent for gym hours. Just normal, nothing special casual scent.

Smells fresh and musky. I like it a lot - sillage was pretty good for the little spray I used :) I'd certainly wear it I it were given to me, but for the price there are others in the line I'd sooner buy.

Very interesting scent that I kept sniffing on my skin. Does give a weird spicy/celery vibe initially. My sister and husband both agreed it smelled like food upon first spray but liked the dry down.

Nice. Bright and uplifting for spring but not what I’m looking for in the fall. It does bother my sinuses a little bit but only if I bring my nose to my arm. I would try this one again!

sweet and fruity. although it fades fast, it has decent sillage. i wish it had stronger tea notes, with a bit of astringency to offset the sweetness. it feels slightly generic.

Very nice, clean and simple warm weather fragrance. On me at least, smells exactly like Philosophy Salted Citrus Shampoo & Shower Gel. Perfect for a summer's day.

Naturally smelling mixture of my favourite summer notes: tea, orange flower and guaiac wood in the base. Debating 🤔as I have so many in this category.

Bright greens, lime, and cayenne on opening. A wonderful fresh non-powdery smell! Mellows down quickly to a bergamot/ earl grey tea scent.
