Bergamusk

I don’t normally love citrus in general and bergamot specifically, but there’s something about the balance of this combination that creates a unified scent that hooks me. For some reason it reminds me of cleaning products used in a hippy spay in the early 70s. There’s something vintage about it, it borders on cleaning products but never goes there. It’s addictive, I keep spraying it on me. It doesn’t smell, to me and on me, like it’s notes - I don’t get jasmine at all and the wood is very much hidden by a bed of greenery, but it’s sharp and warm and spicy, with a sweet mellowness that balances the sharpness on top. I like it a lot.

Sharp opening that levels out in the first 10 minutes. Definitely crisp and cool beginning, the musk warms it slightly. Its not a wow, I feel like this could be found in a few houses, but I do love it and it fills a scent style I like to keep available to me. Would be good for warmer months to offset the sticky skin scents we can get and good for colder months if you want something mild and different from usual sweet smells in a more intimate setting. Unisex, but leans feminine. I'd sniff a guy's neck if he wore this though.

Something about this perfume reminds me of the walk you take from your car to the lake but you have to cut through the woods to do it. It has the qualities of sun-on-skin that makes it perfect for warm days mixed with a layer of sunblock. A lot of woodiness on first spray that settles into the skin softly but still holds on to the freshness of the citrus. I became nose blind to this after about 3-4 hours and had to reapply.

Smells very similar to le labo’s bergamot, for anyone looking for a more cost friendly version. This one is a little lighter than le labo’s, great for daytime use. I like to layer it with Rosie Jane’s Dulce or Snif 2% for a London fog vibe.

This is what I imagine a “clean girly” smells like! I’ve tried many “clean” perfumes but they always smell too floral or too soapy. This is the perfect balance of both!

Clean, effortless, and sophisticated. Feels like something a wealthy eclectic woman would wear to a fancy bar, paired with vintage designer pieces.

A whispery, melancholy... holiday resort citrus? The cleanness of the lavender paired with the acid of the citrus spikes this intoxicating, faintly chemical note. Think the slightest residue of chlorine on your skin, even after showering with fancy hotel soap. And a film of sunscreen, which must be the sweet jasmine and amber. Which is not to say it’s a sunny, smiley citrus. Something about the cedar and musk leadens it. It’s like a lemon with depression. Pairs splendidly with watching Aftersun in your empty flat. Unfortunately, it vanishes faster than a cheap date (we’re talking barely thirty minutes). Absolute travesty, because this fragrance is phenom while it hits. Mental Snapshot: Solo holiday on a B-tier Mediterranean island. Off-season discount, at a desiccated, bygone resort. Gentle Mediterranean waves lap upon a grey, pebbled beach. You prefer to ghost about the overheated pool, drinking well cocktails and reading cheap fantasies. It’s overcast the whole week, but you still get sunburned. tl;dr: poolside ennui 🪼🌥️

Clean, fragrant, and natural bergamot and jasmine perfume. High quality ingredients. I bought it blindly hoping it would be a bergamot centric perfume. I was looking for a highly citrus perfume to wear during summer time. However, the jasmine is quite omnipresent in this perfume which makes Bergsmusk smell a little flowery and feminine to me. There is also verbena accompanying the introduction which initially give Bergamusk a classic eau de cologne smell and freshness. The scents sits very close to your skin. I think women would love this perfume. Perfect to wear during the morning time, in hit weather, or after a shower at night to stay at home.

Not a lot of staying power and minimal silage/projection; that being said, it's delightfully fresh and clean. Would have liked a stronger bit of lavender and a lot more ambrettolide, musk, and sandalwood. I am getting a decent amount of lime, some verbena, and bright clean bergamot. Some clean tart lemon might have been good here too. It's a lovely late summer/early autumn scent, great for going to lunch, shopping, work, school - anyplace you want to feel fresh and clean. You'll need to top it up occasionally. Toss your vial in the bag and go! I give it 7/10

like standing by a bergamot and lavender field in hot dry california heat (after putting on sunscreen) during the summer with a dusty parking lot close by and getting constant delicious whiffs of it like people are saying, the jasmine/musk combo underneath gives something sunblock-y.. its a lived-in herbal citrus with some dusty warmth that wants to mix with wearer's natural skin. I love it so much. But it disappears so quickly and I'm wondering if the oil is better at longevity. I'm so determined to make it work for me. :( (got a sample)

For some reason the first time I wore Bergamusk, I didn't smell jasmine at all. It smelled sophisticated and dry and salty, like sunscreen in the sun, definitely musky, and the lavender was very perceptible. The second time I got the jasmine scent but not the rest, it's a really realistic version of that hot sticky jasmine. Both times I liked it, but I'm going to keep smelling it before I decide. Regardless, it's a great frag to wear during jasmine season in New Orleans.

Bergamusk is a beautifully bright citrus-aromatic. The lavender and thyme lend it freshness, and the citrus and florals give it a quintessential "fancy soap" feel, maybe with a slight boho twist. Fancy soap from the farmer's market? Bergamot is indeed the star, but the name is a misnomer; musk and woods temper its sharpness, but it's hardly a musky scent.

This is like the more natural, herbal, fresh version of light blue. I think it reminds me of light blue in the dry down because of the citrus, musk and cedar. However, this perfume is so so much better. It's more interesting, it has depth and dimension. The lavender and thyme really make this special and unlike a lot of other citrus musk scents.

Honestly, smells like concentrated bergamot to me, which I don't necessarily dislike; this one is more citrus-y than clean. If fragrances like Commodity Paper- or Fugazzi Angel Dust work for your skin, this one will likely work as well, although it is a bit stronger than the other two.

This fragrance reminds me of pool days. It's very bright and summery and almost has a sunscreen like quality to it. As someone that is sensitive to citrus scents, this fragrance does not irritate me at all.

Lemon, jasmine, and musk—it’s quite nice. Unfortunately, I don’t like lavender, but its presence isn’t too strong, with a slightly powdery feel.

Tested from a small sample vial on me this starts off like a natural/herbal medicine we have in my country for stomach issues, just like sniffing a bottle of Iberogast. The dry-down is translucently green, therapeutically herbal, and softly citrus-y, with a light musky undertone. Different than some other Heretic perfumes I recently sampled - dirty lavender and dirty lemon - this one is blended in a way i cannot pinpoint the specific oils used. The blend really takes on its very own character, however, without smelling perfum-y. It's not the kind of fragrance I'd usually go for or buy a full bottle of, but i do respect the way it's blended and the fact that I haven't smelled anything quite like it before. If someone was to wear this, it would definitely make them stand out to me as very individualist in their fragrance choice. If someone is into natural herbal scents, this might just be for them. If you're generally more into artificial molecules, definitely try this one properly before making a purchase. As for performance, I hardly get any sillage. It's rather intimate. Owing to its relative oiliness, however, longevity is not bad at all.

Testing this blind I get a simultaneous squeeze of citrus zest, and a soft floral with a tropical fruit element in the opening, like a really good salon shampoo. As it settles, it becomes more reminiscent of warm (not hot) beachy days with salt and light suntan lotions in the air. But, like those memories they entirely fade not long after, returning to a rather intimate, soft, and delicate light floral skin scent, hinting of soap. Looking at the notes now it's essentially all lime crowded lovingly around by friends with much care. While you can pick out individual elements (lemon, thyme, jasmine, etc.) they all blend well, putting up a front against further individual recognition. And because it's a friend centric time out, it feels fleeting like a casual flirty passing, a few glances, maybe some cloying phrases or sweet and enticing humor, batting eyes, smirky smiles, and a twirl of the hair, but fleeting just the same. A nice moment, and while lots of potential, leaves a lot more to be desired from an enticing first hello.
