Bourbon Patchouli

There is something so so familiar about this smell! The closest I can come is saying it makes me smell like a fancy cocktail lounge, it smells cool and sophisticated while still having a bit of booziness and almost a bit of a gourmand to it without being cupcake. The patchouli did go a bit dill-y on me, but I do have a history of that (especially patchouli forward one) but it really adds to the lounge feel, not in a "I smell like a deli" way on me. But be aware if your chemistry is one to do that! Because I have the oil, the scent really does hang on for a while and the sillage is a nice size for my preference. I feel it gives exactly it's name in an adult way.

At application I get a chocolatey earthiness from the patchouli, which is certainly the dominant note throughout. I cannot detect the cannabis in this one - nothing green or skunky at all. The vanilla is more balsamic than sweet and almost smokey. I can't really differentiate between hinoki and other evergreen scents, but I get a lovely deep, meditative resinous green base. After the first few minutes the patchouli settles down a bit and there is a nice balance between it, the vanilla, and the hinoki. Feels like walking through a cool crip forest with leaves falling a campfire burning in the not-to-far distance. A great perfume for fall and the holidays.

Upon reading about the notes I was excited and got compelled to buy, as it is all too easy to do! Unfortunately on my skin all I get is olive oil...
