Dirty Lavender

When I first tried about a couple of years ago I wasn’t sure of this one. I liked it but I didn’t love it. I revisited it recently and I instantly fell in love. I do smell the lavender but it’s the spicy and sharp kind, not the sweet kind. It’s very inoffensive though. This is what I imagine a spice/herb shop to smell like. It’s very herbal and fresh. The longevity is pretty good but the projection is modest. I’d wear this day and night all year round. I’m so glad I got a few travel size bottles when they released it last time.

You're sipping a soothing, citrusy tea in a stand of cedar trees. I love this. The lavender isn't as forward as I'd expect, but I don't mind because this scent is intoxicating. At first it's very citrusy and remniscent of lemongrass, but after about 10 minutes I started picking up on a floral sweetness beneath that. My only criticism is that the lavender could've been stronger but I'll take other reviewers' advice and apply it more liberally to get that.

Tested from a little sample, I only get a bit of lavender in the opening, the dry down is a mix of earthy/herbal vetiver and a citrusy note that is very reminiscent of lemon grass to me. All over this fragrance has quite the natural essential oil kind of vibe. I see myself wearing this kind of fragrance on days at home to set a certain mood. There is almost an aroma therapy kind of quality about it. That's just me though. I think some people will be able to rock this out and about too. Sillage is polite on me, longevity is very descent. It was still on my skin after 12+ hrs. If you like earthy vetiver and generally prefer non-perfumy more natural kind of fragrances, i think it's worth a sniff if given the chance.

This is SPICY and I love it. I didn't get the lavender initially in a small spritz, but when I applied it more generously it came through beautifully. Very herbal, very earthy and bitter green. Woody without being smoky, which I adore. This is androgynous and tantalizing. It also lasts longer and has better sillage than some of the other Heretic scents. Definitely better for daytime and the warmer seasons, but I really do love this and it's become my new everyday casual perfume.

Like sitting in a cedar sauna with lavender steam. Wayyyy too much cedar on my skin for me, personally. I would probably like this better as a candle. Update: 1/5/24 After letting the bottle macerate for a bit, I like this a lot more. Still extremely reminiscent of a peaceful sauna, but now the cedar has mellowed and the lavender and citrus are more present.

not great performance, but if you wear this, you have my respect. 7.1/10

This is a difficult one for me because my visceral reaction is more positive than my intellectual one. I love all of these notes, and lavender stars too infrequently in feminine/unisex fragrances. This fragrance feels like putting on a well-loved bathrobe - comforting and easy to love, but perhaps not suited to outside of the confines of home. At first spritz, it's a piquant trifecta of tart citrus slices, cedar, and pungent lavender. Those facets quickly mute, and the palo santo, palmarosa, and vetiver emerge. To my nose, all other listed notes are notional. The overall effect is distinctly more of an essential oil, aromatherapeutic scent than a sophisticated, balanced fragrance. There's nothing elevated or particularly considered here. If you like these notes, you'll likely appreciate this very raw fragrance, but don't expect alchemy.

I did not get Lavender from this one. It smelled very green and bitter to me. I am super glad I didn't blind buy this one! Phew!

I haven’t had any luck with getting this to last longer than 15 minutes, but it is incredibly calming to your body when you need that, and made me realize just how deeply I love lavender in fragrance. It’s dry with this almost white ambery aromatic quality to it. Now that I see other notes, I can pick up the Vetiver, Cannabis, and Palo Santo. I wish it stayed with me longer. The only way I’ve figured out so far is on hair. I used up my sample as bedtime perfume and that was perfect!

Musky earthy sharp lavender opening with citrus. Musky light citrus vetiver dry down with a cannabis note in the background for the dirty feeling. Finally it goes into a citrus vetiver wood base evenly blended. I really like how different this house is. They don’t perform as well as synthetics IMO but there’s a noticeable difference in how it’s blended. The notes are not as sharp which is a nice change from time to time.

Lavender lasts 30 seconds and then it’s a LOUD vetiver (for my taste). I can easily smell it from my wrists that are feet away and were sprayed 3 hours ago, and it’s straight sour sharp vetiver. Not a fan personally!
