Dragon's Blood

Smells exactly like the inside of a wooden cigar box-- instantly took me back to playing with my Abuelo's discarded cigar boxes as a child. Rich, deep, while still being a clean woody scent. The sillage isn't overpowering, but clings nicely to the air around you. After first testing it I was convinced that I'd found my signature scent. However, it drastically reduced in strength after about an hour and a half, and once two hours had passed, I couldn't smell it anymore. I understand this is a risk in natural perfumes, but I can't possibly justify spending $165 on a full bottle of perfume that barely lingers. It did last on the fibers of my sweater for a long time, so maybe the solution is to spray the scent in my closet instead. I'm a little heartbroken, because this is truly almost perfect. I'll be saving the sample bottle for special occasions, and I'll just be sure to reapply on the hour.

I'm not 100% sure where the negative reviews on this one are coming from. I have a feeling some must have downvoted without actually trying it. This is a balanced, sophisticated take on the dragon's-blood-resin-centric perfume concept where the headshop vibes of the star ingredient get dialed down in favor of a somewhat soapier, cleaner feel. Basically, instead of the sorta scratchy stoner vibes you might get with a BPAL scent that uses their signature dragon's blood note, here you get a more wearable, less divisive experience. Seems like the rose adds a lot in that regard. It's a 100% natural composition, so it's not super long-lasting, but it does what it sets out to do. Personally, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I got the Blood Box today, and Heretic never misses for me. I can see where they are going with the whole collection, although all four scents are different, there is a certain ~haunting~ quality that ties them together, making them recognizably Heretic's. All four scents work very well with my skin chemistry, too, which is amazing. Dragon's Blood is my favorite scent. Granted, I have no idea what the actual dragon's blood resin smells like but I love incense scents, and this is just ~different~. It is so raw and woody and smoky and addictive... Funny, how Heretic takes the notes that I normally cannot stand (patchouli and oud) and just blends them into a scent that I end up loving... Dark magic of Heretic :D

This is fantastic. I’m debating buying another bottle as I know it’s a limited release and want to have more. It smells like 100% like unlit Dragons Blood incense. Photorealistic. Why anyone would downvote this is beyond me. All of the scent notes are there with very little patchouli. I have several Heretic perfumes and the patch is always LOUD. It’s not here, which I appreciate. I can’t say it’s Beast-Mode, and that makes me sad. I wish it was. Full bottle worthy- or in my case, 2 Full Bottles Worthy. Superb.

Damn this is good. I do like dragons blood incense but this isn't like a 1:1 match. It's definitely more complex but if you enjoy the incense you'll like this. I liked it right away but it's grown on me a lot. I'll probably buy a full size.

The immediate top note for me was Vicks Vapor Rub? I couldn’t place exactly what the scent was but it was funky... It dried down to a very pleasant, comforting scent. I kept imagining an old, dusty library in a church. Very wood forward, plenty of incense. I’m not sure I got any of the floral that’s apparently there. I was told I smelled “musty in a good way”, so. This had the most sillage and longevity of any Heretic fragrance I’ve tried so far. Lasted around 3 hours and several people within arms length commented on it.

Feels more like a somewhat generic smoky woody incense than DRAGON'S BLOOD (which I remember being slightly unpleasant), especially compared to Santa Sangre (highlighting its signature Play-Doh-like smell), but if you're tired of pure frankincense based incense and want something more natural & rugged, this is it.

This is lovely, and a faithful reproduction of Dragon's Blood resin. My only complaint is that the sillage is pretty slight.

I happened to get 3-4 sampler of this between different packs. Every one is a different color, different scent, and different performance. The light yellow is beautiful, floral, bright. The dark red is overwhelming smoke and long lasting. There seems to be more inconsistency with this mix than I’ve run into with other Heretic.

I did not end up caring for it but if you are someone who enjoys deep wood smells then it would be perfect There is a vague hint of something like incense but the wood stands out to me most

the cedar is too strong for me and i love cedar. i just think this perfume just too one note which is not a problem heretic normally has. its almost sharp and pungent in an unpleasant way

Smokey and leathery, too harsh but with zero staying power. I really wanted to like this but am glad I sampled first because I would have been disappointed in the price-for-performance.

Smells like if someone peed on the bus

My experience with incense is solely the kind that involves placing bits of resin on some hot charcoal. I've always been disappointed when I was looking for incense scents, probably because they go for the incense stick vibe. This is the good 'chuck it on some hot charcoal' incense I like to see in the world. Almost a dead ringer for my favourite type to smell burning, with a touch of rose to bring it round.

I love incense fragrances, but this was disappointing. I get a hint of dragons blood, and a tiny bit of musky rose, but mostly just cedar. It takes over everything. This may improve with age.

This smells like outside; good outside. Balsamic part smell like pickle !! Kinda a big dill..... super androgynous scent like a wood nymph.

I'm SO curious about this one. I think I might order the trial set and pray it's still in stock if I end up liking it...
