Jasmine Smoke

(2026 limited edition release) sexy, dark, witchy, and seductive. while there are whispers of orange blossom and jasmine in the opening, the true depth and beauty of jasmine smoke is in the evolution of its base. thick, heady tobacco melts into spicy patchouli and a hint of vanilla from the tonka bean. this is a gourmand layered with a palpable smokiness, with the tobacco adding a physical kick, like inhaling deeply at the edge of a campfire. this has the almost medicinal, herbal quality of a ricola cough drop and the sticky sweetness of a rootbeer barrel hard candy, if both were left in the purse of a very chic woman with a smoking problem. sounds weird, but is somehow perfect, like pressing a spiced black tea bag to your nose and breathing in as deeply as you can. skin chemistry does seem to be important with jasmine smoke--this leans more tonka-based and creamy on my skin, an indolic and dirty sweetness, like vanilla ice cream dripping into a tumbler of bourbon. on my partner, the drydown is more burnt tobacco. regardless of which facet jumps out on the skin, a really beautifully blended and deeply intoxicating experience. well worth the $65 for the 15 mL travel size (if only this came in a full bottle!). i will definitely be stocking up before late autumn/early winter when this fragrance will absolutely shine.

Night blooming jasmine on a humid summer night. Supremely heady and creamy, deeply indolic, with an almost waxy spice. There is a sooty-ashy smoke accord in the background, kind of like a burned-out campfire. It is not active or airy. It never takes the lead or fades completely. Tonka is increasingly present more as a warm-skin effect than sweetness. While out walking in the sun, I noticed a musky-indolic powdery-animalic presence which reminded me of something in the early dry down of Muscs Koublai Khan. It was fleeting, but this is when I was hooked. I am shocked that an animalic accord is not listed on this site. It’s hard to discuss Jasmine Smoke without mentioning Jasmin et Cigarette. They are like two halves of a whole. It is as if someone bisected the olfactory reality of “jasmine + ashy-smoke” with the dusky-indolic, creamy, sensual, rumbly, and somewhat sooty low end becoming Jasmine Smoke, and the higher-pitch, clean, solar, sinus-clearing, wispy elements becoming Jasmin et Cigarette. They are very, very different in my opinion. Jasmine Smoke is one of the most entrancing, voluptuous fragrances I have ever smelled. Haunting to the point of distraction. I very much wish this was available in 100ml.

For @GenevaX - On my skin, Jasmine Smoke is a drier, smokier scent. I find the Jasmine note more indolic than ELDO's Jasmin et Cigarette, but it's also got a very sensual, smoky drydown that is lacking in Jasmin et Cigarette. The ELDO is much sweeter, imo. I prefer Jasmine Smoke - I think it is a more photorealistic cigarette scent. Jasmin et Cigarette has the edge when it comes to wearability, however, and it is still in production. The compositions are similar enough that you can replace Jasmine Smoke in your collection with Jasmin et Cigarette, and still have the same vibe when you wear it.

I was not expecting to love this as much as I do. It has a limpid quality that keeps it from veering too indolic or too feral; maybe it's the balance with tobacco that is crisp and cleanses the jasmine's ferocity. Better than Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d'Orange, which doesn't have the floral balance that is present in Jasmine Smoke.

Dirty and sexy. A little raunchy and very intoxicating. You say you don’t smoke but you sneak a cigarette after a couple of drinks and the lingering smoke perfumes your skin.

Being someone who doesn't like Jasmine, I was interested as to how this line would interpret it. At the opening is a very animalic, indolic, almost urine-like jasmine, mixed with tonka bean (which ends up being the star of this fragrance) and I can get some tea notes in here from the Choya Ral. This jasmine could have turned out horrid on me but thankfully was toned down with sweetness to not make it so animalic. As it dries down, it reminds me of old fragrances that would utilize tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin and such for their bases. I don't necessarily get a Guerlainade vibe, but there is something in this reminiscent of such particular combinations. All-in-all, a very nice fragrance that would probably be the one jasmine fragrance I'd wear.

Unlisted rhubarb creates a bold overture. Not to be outdone, indolic Jasmine rushes right in, mingling beautifully into the composition. In evolution, she moves into the spotlight, all eyes on her. Tonka shadows her most closely, flanked by other shy listed notes. Not getting much smoke, which is fine bcz I enjoy whiffing Jaz & her entourage do their thang.

This reminds me of lupins and childhood’s midsummers at summer cottage. Very floral, I’m not good at recognizing flowers so I’m not sure if it’s more jasmine or white tobacco.

Dry down is too sweet for the composition. The smokey note fades too quickly. Disappointing.

Straight up cola bottles. Not entirely unpleasant but unexpected.

Smokiness is 8/10, I don't smell any floral. It does last awhile, 5-6 hours. Nothing else can be said about it from me and nor do I find it special enough to keep. I test-sprayed and already resold it- just too masculine-leaning for me.

The jasmine is very strong in this one for me, and comes across incredibly indolic. The smokiness helps tame it a bit, but not enough.

Jasmine Smoke opens with a very strong jasmine note right away. It’s indolic, raw, and quite natural, closer to jasmine absolute than a clean or airy floral. The smoke is noticeable from the start, but it doesn’t feel like burning wood. It comes across more like incense woven into the jasmine, giving the opening a slightly medicinal and earthy feel. As it develops, the jasmine stays dominant. It doesn’t soften much and it doesn’t turn sweet. The smoke moves in and out, adding atmosphere rather than balance. There’s a bitterness that runs through the composition, which gives it an experimental edge but also makes it challenging and not very easy to wear. In the dry down, the scent becomes closer to the skin but remains noticeable. The jasmine feels darker and more muted, with the smoke lingering underneath. It never turns warm or comforting. Instead, it stays austere and restrained, more artistic than sensual. This is not a crowd pleasing fragrance. It feels niche and intentional, and it works best if you enjoy indolic jasmine and unconventional compositions. If you expect sweetness or softness, this one will likely be difficult. The bottle is minimal and understated. It fits the concept of the fragrance but doesn’t stand out visually. The one that made me fall in love with Heretic. I got the Rhubarb Thief set, and the titular scent isn't even the most interesting one imo. The best, most simple way I can describe Jasmine Smoke is "smokey bubblegum". Two descriptive terms that shouldn't go together, but they do. This is exactly what I got into perfumes for, strange and alluring scents. It's easy for a niche perfume house to tackle "weird", but composing something both weird and wearable at the same time is tricky. If I remember correctly JS is a limited edition, but I am begging Heretic to keep this one around. She is a Keeper. I wish it came in a bigger size than 15 ml too.

This is beautiful scent, but not an easy one. The jasmine is heavily indolic, and combined with the sweaty quality coriander can sometimes posses, this one is fairly bodily, to put it politely. Once the opening calms a bit, the tonka and tobacco emerge. The tobacco is sweet rather than smoky, like an unlit cigar, and the whole composition becomes gentler and more demure over a few hours. It develops in reverse, from wild wedding night to virginal bride. Both stages have their appeal. I'd be very curious to hear from other reviewers how this compares to Etat Libre d'Orange's "Jasmin et Cigarette" since both seem to have similar inspirations.

I love jasmine and I love smokey scents so this was a must try. I smell like my childhood memory of my mother's Shalimar (circa 1980s) and I am delighted.

Starts out very jasmine, but dries down a bit sweeter and mellower. The tobacco and tonka show nicely toward the end.
