Midnight Toker

This was THEEE scent that got me excited about perfume during the pandemic. I purchased a discovery scent from Heretic on a whim one bored afternoon during quarantine (thanks to their marketing) and ended up falling in love with Midnight Toker. I had never smelled a fragrance like it at the time-- it was mysterious, earthy, and sexy. It conjured images of sharing a joint with a hot stranger you just met in a bar on a late summer night, him wearing patchouli & an old leather jacket, both of you a little intoxicated, your stomach filled with butterflies. I think I physically swooned when I first smelled it; I didn't know a fragrance could make me feel that way. I've since moved on from MT and ended up selling my bottle after discovering other things I enjoyed, but I'm excited to see there's a new addition available. I'll have to grab a sample and report back. Edit: sampled the reformulation of this and it’s completely different from the original. The new Midnight Toker is much sweeter and smokier with vanilla, cloves, and tobacco. It’s supposed to smell like a goth bar. It’s fun but too heavy & sweet for my tastes.

I loved this scent immediately after I smelled its sample, and I purchased the full size later that same day! It has since become my favorite scent and signature fragrance - I can't stop smelling it repeatedly throughout the day. It has a very intoxicating, smoky, spicy clove smell with beautiful warm vanilla undertones that really bloom after about an hour of wearing it. If it at all smelled like cannabis before, they likely nixed it in its reformulation. I have not smelled that whatsoever (thank GOD). Smells more like tobacco that borders on coffee grounds. I'd highly recommend this fragrance to anyone who loves the smell of cigarette smoke on clothing. The only downside is that in my experience, this is a fragrance that doesn't play as nicely with too many surrounding smells. I prefer to wear it for more intimate, close-knit settings for that reason, but pairing it with some amber oil seems to essentially nix that problem for me. It's a beautiful, mysterious fragrance overall and I'd buy enough bottles to last me a lifetime in a heartbeat!

Welcome back, Midnight Toker! This was reformulated for release again in 2025 and is a delight. The notes describe clove, jasmine, vanilla, tobacco — and I get it all. It starts very loud but dries down to a smoky vanilla that stays mysterious and sexy. This would be a fantastic fall and winter wear (as I wear it now in 30°F weather) as the warmth of it isn’t overwhelming and the projection isn’t cloying. I’ll be interested to see how this wears in warmer weather — I think it’ll perform well in the evening but shouldn’t be a daily driver for the day. Pairs well with Voodoo Lily from the same house. Wow, this smells like cracking open a tin of pipe tobacco. A soft, nutmeg Latakia tobacco. The pepper doesn't bite. The smell of a block of wood that’s just been sawn in half.

So far, this is my favorite fragrance from this house. It is warm and intoxicating and has all of the smoky cloves. Darn it I only wish it were louder and lasted longer!!

This is lovely, and the cannabis note is very understated in my opinion. The patchouli and nutmeg are far more noticeable.

It smells like opening an old wooden drawer that used to hold hotel soaps, to find a certain leather bookmark.

So sexy like sweet leather and tobacco. If I met a lesbian who wore this I would fall in love with her.

memories of misdemeanors and other college crimes, overflowing ashtrays, beer cans full of butts, incense to cover the weed smell, air filled with smoke, graffiti as interior design. Ash as furniture in the corners of every room, stomped down into a permanent fixture by the footsteps of transient visitors, staying for an hour, a night, a week on the couch imbuing your cushions for a time with the scent of their brand, nostalgia for the djarum cigarettes, before they rebranded as cigars as you tolerate the cigars for the "aesthetic" Not a super pleasant smell at first, smells like a stale ashtray on first spray, but then calms down to the scent of cigarettes and vanilla on your crush's neck as you work up the nerve to work your way down their body I enjoy this scent, but moreso as a journey than something I can really see myself wearing. Someone else said this is great for the occasion of going to a dive bar to pick up a stranger and I think thats exactly right, but I do not run into that occasion and likely have no use for this fragrance.

A patchouli hippie dream! If you like spicy, earthy patchouli scents, maybe give this one a go. It’s a heavy scent and has great lasting power so I would spray lightly. The peppery notes in the opening give it a lot of spice. I personally don’t get the cannabis note, but maybe it’s more apparent if you smell this on someone else? I like this scent a lot but it’s not one I wear often. I picture myself wearing this on a camping trip in the mountains, skinny dipping in a natural hot spring.

This smells like smoking a weed-laced cigarette in a leather jacket in between concert sets and chewing a piece of bubblegum after. It’s so naughty and a lot of fun. We know this girl and we *love* this girl. Weirdly unisex and evokes so much nostalgia. Moderate performance, which is better than most Heretic fragrances I’ve tried. I like this one a lot!

The smell DEFINITELY gives me western vibes. Like a cowboy smoking a tobacco pipe in the desert night, or a spiritual shop in an old western town burning herbs. Beautiful scent, really enjoy.

Somewhat similar to Smudge. Feels like a multi-dimensional fragrance experienced through a one dimensional apparatus. Hazy, vintage, smokey.

First spray is astringent, mechanical oil, leather. Sharp. It's a dusty jacket in an old closet. It settles down after some time to cannabis oil, woodsmoke, rubber and bubblegum. I dont hate it. It's very interesting and mysterious.

Smells like a sexy ashtray. An appropriate occasion for this fragrance would be going to a dive bar to pick up a stranger. I don't find myself in that situation very often. The dry down is very vanilla-forward.

Very Patchouli, spicy earthy. Super interesting blend. lasted about 3 hours and dry down to a subtle earthy vanilla. close to the skin sillage. IMO very male and proper for a dark intimate woody whiskey bar.

I bought this fragrence because I was looking for a patchouli scent with body and substance. This juice definitely does hit the marks of being this full body fragrence with that description. It’s warm and spicy and very patchouli heavy. The problem is the cannabis note. It’s there and it pops up at the wrong time. The other evening I wore this out to dinner and when I was hugging hello to a group of friends, one asked “Who was smoking pot?” I knew immediately it was my Midnight Toker. Then later that evening someone eles said that they smelled pot smoke. Jeeze, me again. I don’t mind the smell of cannabis if someone is smoking and it’s lingering in the air, but I certainly do not want to smell like this all the time everywhere I go. Unfortunately because of that note this perfume is a no for me. 😢 But I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised with a name like Midnight Toker.

Smells like cigars and gives me a bit of a headache like when you smell stale cigarette smoke in a car of someone who smokes in their car. The pleasant notes in it is like hanging up a cardboard air freshener in that car lol

Peak pixie dream girl Peter-Pan collared Zooey Deschanel ModCloth dress, honey-apricot-jasmine preciousness, infantile heliotrope Alice & Olivia floral babydoll cast-offs set alight, smoldering in the gutter. It wasn't a cleansing fire, not a redemptive flame. Sort of like a nasty garbage bin blaze, destroying evidence of your cutesy, kitchsy crimes. Embezzling from a cupcake boutique, or stealing someone's vintage typewriter collection, or you did an identity theft or two to afford your overpriced mason jar cocktail with artisan bitters obsession. Some real twee shit. A burnt-out, acrid sweetness "like ew gross" scratch-n-sniff sticker layered atop already barfy one, something bad compounding something worse.

I’m reading Fragrantica’s "main accords" breakdown, at the top, and wonder if they made a documentation error. MT is neither a floral nor a cannabis perfume at all. This is a spicy, balsamic, and smooth patchouli composition. Yes, there are flowery notes here, but MT does not exude any dominant or distinguishable flowery smell. It is a well-behaved and friendly patchouli perfume that smells quite natural and enjoyable, a suave patchouli. Nothing hippie, dirty, rooty, or earthy, as patchouli can be. If you are a patchouli enthusiast, you'll love it. If you are not friendly to patchouli, this might make you shake hands, at least. Highly recommended.

My favorite perfume of all time and the fragrance that got me obsessed with fragrance. A smoky spicy vanilla masterpiece. Complex and lasts a long time. The clove balances out the tobacco well; no ash tray vibes detected.
