Pistil Whip

This is the most realistic floral perfume I think I've ever smelled. I've worked in garden centres for years and this scent perfectly captures not only the florals, but the greenery and fresh cut stems of flowers. That being said, it does it in a way that is sweet and somewhat warm. It's cloying, but not enough to make you sick since the green and fresh spicy elements balance out the sweetness. While it leans slightly warmer, I'd say it's still a cooler counterpart to Heretic's "Angel's Trumpet," which is far more warm and creamy. I imagine a fairy wearing this scent in a white lace dress at dawn, fireflies just blinking out as dewdrops coalesce on tall grass and green budding leaves. It's also slightly peppery, but that's certainly not the focus of the scent, just something to cut the sweetness alongside the green. On me, the crispness does fade a bit and it does get more sweet at the day goes on, but it doesn't abandon that element altogether, it just becomes softer. Very smooth, very pretty, and very feminine!

What a spicy little creature. I love it. The carnation, vetiver, tea and bergamot are all front and center right from the start. They create something beautifully spicy, green, fresh and just lightly floral. Pistil Whip has a very airy feel in this opening stage, and also just a tinge of marine quality. That feeling of a watery, cool place. After a while the carnation and vetiver form a delicious spicy powder together that is at the heart of this and is really beautiful. And then towards the end of the fragrances’s life on the skin the tiare comes on stronger and the florals become a bit sweeter and more dense. And when it hits about the 4 hour mark it fades away. It’s amazing while it stays. Totally unisex with a good projection in its first couple hours.

I had a 15 ml of this and LOVED it! I've been contemplating getting a 50 ml because it was so beautiful. I really picked up the tuberose (not listed in the notes here), and found this a very pretty, delicate gorgeous floral scent. What surprised me so much though -- and is reason not to take the longevity ratings too seriously here -- this lasted ages on me!! That alone made this nothing short of miraculous, given this is - 1. Mostly natural and 2. My skin eats tuberose like nothing else, so for a seemingly airy floral to stick around like this?? Hallelujah! Having just checked the Heretic website, however, it seems Pistil Whip may be being phased out, as it's only available now in roller ball form as part of the florist trio - eeks! Why??

This is HEAVENLY. To me it smells exactly like Stargazer Lilies. Those were some of my grandma‘s favorite flowers so they have a special place in my heart (and nose lol). If you are not a fan of white florals or the smell of big pink stargazer lilies, then this is definitely not the fragrance for you. I can’t stop smelling it, though! It took me right back to being a little girl, the same height as my grandma‘s lilies and bearded Iris. As soon as I saw them blooming, I would run outside, bury my nose in them and breathe deep. It’s wonderful.

It doesn't feel right to call this "floral" because it is truly just a straight distilled flower. It captures every aspect of one. The gentle smell that diffuses through the house from a fresh cut bouquet. The strong, grainy pollen scent from sticking your nose in and sniffing one so close that some of it clings to your face. The syrupy nectar that is also very reminiscent of fruit stripe gum. The cool sticky sap oozing from the stem. I felt conflicted about it as a perfume as opposed to a room spray, but I got over it.

it is early summer and slightly windy in a field of grasses. you're in a white dress and throughly powdered. A vase of white lilies and lilacs sits on the picnic blanket in front of you. you're eating smoked sausage. You're near a stream, and it's a fresh stream. Your house is just a short walk away, you've forgotten your laundry is in the machine. you waltz home and you open the window, the fresh floral wind blows in. Your hair blows in the brief breeze. and god does your fresh laundry smell good, wet and good.

In the bottle it doesn’t smell like much, but on my skin it blooms into a spicy white carnation with soft woods. Hints of tuberose-like sweetness and fresh bergamot peek through momentarily throughout wear, grounded consistently by the vetiver. I was surprised by the longevity- it lasted 6 hours before needing a respray. I love starting the morning with this and then adding Bergamusk in the afternoon for a pick-me-up. Beautiful combo.

I tried this from a Heretic Dsicover Kit. I gotta say that I love this! It smells like bubble gum and white floral notes. I layered this with Fathom V, which is a lily and wet grass notes forward fragrance! I could not stop smelling my wrists. The layering with a lily forward perfume was the right call! It was hypnotic, heady, and addictive. Super creamy and heavenly. This is absolutely going on my wishlist!

Wow I’m surprised how much I love this. On me, it’s so delightfully green. It’s super inoffensive but still interesting. The white floral aspect isn’t as assaulting as it can sometimes be (I love them though) and you can definitely smell the spiciness of the pepper and carnations, and the bergamot (which I usually hate) adds that refreshing vibe that works well with how green this perfume is.

Looking at the notes for this I was initially uninterested, that is until I received another perfume from Heretic in a box that had been sprayed with Pistil Whip - wow! It's stunning. Much more interesting and mesmerizing than I would have expected from what looked like a straightforward floral fragrance. I immediately ordered a small bottle. Will update my review after giving it a few wears.

I'm a big fan of Pistil Whip - I have both the roller ball and the spray. It starts as a creamy floral scent with a dewy vibe and a slight green spice. Longevity and sillage are good. I compare it to Breydo's La Tulipe; it's within that chapter of the floral story. The tea note is there, but not the main show. On the dry down, it's akin to the tea in Gucci's Homme II: fresh and dry.

I’m in love with the initial burst of tiare but the carnation really stands out to me and takes me back to like my godmother’s garden. The tea note is lovely paired w the florals as it drys down and adds a creamy quality almost. Very fresh, very everyday(imo) I could imagine some might find it dated but think in more like a chic rich aunt way.

It’s tuberose with a touch of bubblegum that melts into a wonderfully creamy white‐floral cloud with a hint of soapiness. I also get a little whisper of carnation peeking through at the end. Like @Naoelyse, a surprise little test card tucked into my Heretic order went from casual sniff to “add to cart” almost instantly.

I was surprised by how much I love this fragrance! I am not a floral fan, especially white florals.... Love, love, love this one! Smells just like leaning into a bunch of fresh cut flowers, none of the synthetic smell that I generally get with white floral fragrances. Love to wear this on a rainy day!

this is like, photorealistic cut stem flowers. beautiful, dries down warmer and softer. sort of candied/powdery quality to it, but the kind you get when you're really up close to a sweet smelling flower! amazing. will be getting a larger size of this

I love what they did with this floral. Instead of going warm, soft, or sweet, it goes cold. Like steel. I see what you did there, Heretic. This is for feminine, unassailable baddies. It doesn't project a ton, but for me, it's just right.

This smells like being seduced by a hot druid woman who wants to ruin your life. Her hair smells like florals and her breath smells like fruit stripe gum. 10/10 would get seduced again

Photorealistic fresh cut white florals. Absolutely my best “not-a-perfume” scent. I can wear it all day and night and it feels like aromatherapy. Feral fairy in a bottle.

I really just love it, especially for going out in the summer. its definitely a more fem leaning fragrance but after it sits i really start to smell the wood/spice

i love this so much. it makes me think of a flower stem crystallised in sugar. i don't really think floral when i smell this, i think sugary, peppery stem-green

An unusually bold fragrance from Heretic, Pistil Whip packs a surprising punch that befits its name. Carnation and pepper amplify each other, creating a fairly loud, spicy floral. This is in tandem with an indolic and bubble-gummy tuberose. What might be a cacophony of strong but competing florals is rounded out by a beautiful, earthy tea note, and this is what keeps the fragrance from descending into chaos. It's natural and earthy, but busy, even labored smelling. I appreciate its "garden flowers having a secret rave when nobody is looking" vibe, even if it's not something I'd want to wear every day.

A lovely floral aromatic scent perfect for sultry summer days. The perfume has a brief opening of bergamot and pink pepper before it moves to a pronounced floral heart of geranium and tiare flower. The perfume settles into a base of black tea and vetiver. The perfume is rather unique and evokes the smell of a garden or tea estate on a summer day. Unisex with moderate sillage and projection and good longevity. Enjoy!

A massive floral overdose, at its start it will fill a room, and only very slowly settles down. With that said it’s a wonderful floral fragrance. I have troubles smelling individual notes in this beyond “floral,” all that comes to mind when I smell is the color pink. I had hoped I’d get some of the supporting vetiver or tea, but with that said it’s a quite pretty if a little bit linear floral.

the window is open and mom is cutting flowers outside on a cool spring afternoon. the breeze carries from the river near by. the pepper note makes the flowers smell cold. the sun is not out today but the bees are!! lovely and sweet. id say the girl who wears this is 22 or 63.

This smells very much like sweet tarts to me at the outset, but not in a bad way, just very sugary and sweet. I don't really get the spiciness that others have mentioned, it's mostly just sweet and creamy on me.

Cool, fresh, green cut flowers. Bitter sweet. Not overwhelming.

To my perception, there is a scale of white floral: from fresh/green to bubblegum. This fragrance leans heavily toward the bubblegum end of the spectrum. While not as cloying and sweet as the far end of the scale, it's fairly close. I assume this is the tiare note, which I have never smelled in a perfume before. It's the predominant note, by far. I think I might smell the carnation, vetiver, and pepper, but I don't think I could have picked those out without looking at the notes list. I might smell the ghost of tea, and I do not smell bergamot at all. The lack of bergamot is a shame, because I think a zing of citrus would lighten this fragrance up and make it a more zippy summer wear than the indolent, hot late spring scent it is, reminiscent of when blooms are just past their peak and starting to rot on the ground. If you love heavy white florals, this is for you. It's done pretty well for a one-note fragrance, but it just doesn't have enough dynamism for me. 6.5/10.

Really wanted this to be a sharp cold scent due to its name but it’s warm and creamy and powdery on me. The bergamot and white florals overwhelm each other and it makes a soupy mess. I’d forgive it if it were sweeter but it kicks up a dusty powder cloud that feels incongruent to the rest of the pooling cream — which at this point is spilling over the top of the bowl onto the counter in the heat. Unfortunately it’s as though someone bought a cheap medicated baby powder instead of a nicer brand of powder and decided to stir it into the mix. It’s the kind of old lady powder that covers the scent of wounds and surgery, not a sophisticated grandma powder. It settles into a powdery sunscreen scent — not a new age coconut sunscreen but a powdery cheap sunscreen I had in the 90s ...

I got this in a heretic discovery set. Something about this fragrance is solemn, which appears to be a different experience from reading other comments. I grew up in the southern U.S., and this somehow captures the scent and energy of a southern rural funeral home. I don't know how else to describe it but the florals intertwined with woody element transport me there, and derives a solemn feeling within me. Like you are waiting for something that isn't good. It is a really cool a fragrance evoked such an experience, but is personally one I would only wear to funerals.

I tried Pistil Whip as part of my Heretic Parfum discovery set. I love the brand identity and was excited to give these samples a go. Unfortunately, I found Pistil Whip underwhelming and lacking dimension. I could smell tiare flower at first, and the tea after a while, but that's just not very interesting or ground-breaking. Tiare flower smells a lot like lily of the valley to me, and that's just not exciting. A safe creamy smell that maybe slightly reminds me of my mum's pressed foundation and soft skin I could smell when I was a child.

Pistil Whip by Heretic Parfums is green and floral. Its citrusy opening is nuanced and balanced, contributing to the freshness of freshly cut vitality without any sharpness. Enhanced by base notes of tea and vetiver, the fragrance imparts a prominent dewy quality. If the sensation of a cool splash of water had a scent, it would mirror this refreshing fragrance.

I feel like I am sitting dead-center of a flower. Fresh and not headache inducing, however so bravo there. Very unique.

I mostly get tiare and vetiver. Up close, before it had dried down, it smelled so green it was almost metallic, whereas from an arm's length it was much more floral. After drying down, it's a creamy white-floral, and it seems to have pretty good sillage and longevity. Didn't wow me, but didn't offend me either.

This is one of the very few Heretic scents that I truly dislike. It's a tuberose and vetiver bomb, blegh. No, thank you, I'll stick to other Heretic scents.

By the end of the day this had settled down to a tolerable rose and gardenia scent. The journey there is not one I care to repeat.

hate the tiare + carnation combination, it smells like the fetid gooey water at the bottom of a vase

The pink pepper is very strong and very sharp, coming out as the first note you really pick up. Despite this, I think that the vetiver really helps mellow its edge enough to make it bold without being unpalatable, which I enjoyed. The white florals lend it a fresh but kinda classy vibe. I could picture smelling this on a mid/late thirties rich woman’s neck, right next to her string of pearls/pos. Weirdly it’s not bad. She had a sophistication that lets her almost float as she walks, and you just KNOW that she could kick your ass at polo. She’s kind but not exactly nice, holding lots of charity events and stuff, but still completely capable of crushing any competition. She’s unmarried, though not for lack of suitors, and she’s probably been the face of some sort of feminist ‘female business leaders’ magazine once or twice. Classy. She prefers white wine, though she would rather die than have to drink it when the dish it’s served with would better suit red. I’m rambling, but I think you get what I’m saying.

I’ve spent the evening going through a set of Heretic samples I just acquired. The fragrances have exceeded my expectations, and it is apparent to me that heretic takes a lot of care in composing their scents, and arriving at such beautiful fragrances. This is one I was looking forward to sampling because I thought I’d like. I do like it, but it is, not surprisingly, very floral. And that’s fine. Its just that I don’t always want to be straight up floral. But the reason I am reviewing this is because this is one of the samples that really amazed me. Because when I sprayed it, it didn’t just smell like a floral perfume, but it smelled like REAL, fresh cut flowers. I couldn’t believe it, how they could achieve that. I’d never really smelled a perfume that smelled as if there was an ACTUAL bouquet in front of me. It was just incredible to me. Most florals smell nice and like (synthetic) flowers yes, but not like real flowers like this one does.

This perfume is really really nice. Heretic is one of my favorite perfume brands. Their products are so well blended and the notes are always natural smelling. Pistil whip is white floral and the carnation lightens it up and keeps it fresh. The tiare flower is a note I'm not familiar with but it reminds me of a less heady tuberose. This smells very mature but not old fashioned, like a modern take on the kinds of perfumes women wore in the 80s.

This is a very pretty fragrance, no more, no less. It reminds me a fair bit of a higher-quality Kim Kardashian signature with a touch of what the BDK Tubéreuse fragrance has going on. Pistil Whip is a spicy-soapy tuberose fragrance with powdery carnation sprinkled on top. I also get a touch of lily pollen — that nose-tickling, green, savory sensation. Love the name!

Reminds me of Lust in Paradise. That slightly sharp floral scent. I’m not sure if I just have a poor sense of smell, but I can’t sense this perfume unless I put my nose to my wrist. That said, I felt the same way about Lust in Paradise.

Sharp, floral scent with a tangy hint of something that irritates me.. Like a celery or something? But when the it settles down, after a couple of hours, there's much softer and pleasant smell remaining.

This is a beautiful kind of beachy floral with all the tiare flower and then the vetiver and tea come in and keep it from being overwhelmingly floral, makes it a little refreshing. Really pretty scent

Half bubblegum half suntan lotion. Surprising and very sweet. A nice scent, but too distracting for an everyday wear. Love the name!
