THE BRIDE! Solid Perfume

I’ve been called Goth Glrandma. Heretic has again produced another bespoke fragrance for me. One: Flower Porn (sadly discontinued.) Two: l The Mother#¥€king Bride. The Mother#¥€king Bride is 1980s rifling through grandma‘s leather purse that she took to church, frankincense, lipstick, and a faint aromatic white flower from her perfumes embedded in the leather. We were obsessed with frankincense oil from the healthfood store, spritz some of grandma‘s funky white floral perfume, apply that powdery lipstick, inexpertly scrawl black eyeliner around our eyes and puff white powder on our faces. Hairstyles in spiky asymmetrical post punk style, wearing 1960s vintage Jackie O look alike clothing with fishnet stockings torn while carousing the neighborhood and our clunky combat boots that kicked a$$ if someone approached us with menace. And off we would go to the shows. The Cure, Bauhaus, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Sisters Of Mercy (aka Sisters of Mergatroid,) and X, the Minutemen, who really didn’t give a shit how great we looked. So many others. And we danced. Now Goth grandma dances nostalgia. Goth grandma signing off.

This is not a gleeful blushing bride perched on her doting grooms arm. This is the crazed forgotten bride left abandoned at the alter. All the guests are gone no priest remains. The roses have dried and fallen from their stems. The forest has claimed the church back for the land. Cedars have over grown the path. The resinous smoke of frankincense still clings to walls a memory of rituals long past. A broken window allows the intrusion of a jasmine vine to reclaim the heart of the altar, thick with delicate white flowers. The floor has given way allowing the rich earthy cypriol to add a woody almost spicy tinge to the air. The lace of her veil drags behind her wearing smooth the remaining floor boards its old and powdery but the fine craftsmanship adds an elegance that smells of orris. The desperation of her unsatiated love has given way to madness adding a volatile musk that charges the air. Her intensity long haunts all who dare enter her inadvertent tomb.

Got this as a free gift — it obviously didn’t sell well. I suspect most people ignored it because the movie was so terrible (aside from Jessie Buckley who is always a treat to watch). Though I was intrigued by the notes and product, I wasn’t interested in having any memorabilia associated with The Bride. HOWEVER, this is nice. It’s creamy, smoky, and floral. I like it a lot! (Matter of fact, it satisfies a particular scent memory that I’ve been searching for, which is delightful.) Upon initial application I get the rose and the smoke, along with a lipstick-y note — perhaps from the carrier oil combining a small amount of vanilla. As it warms up, the fragrance deepens, and some of that creaminess fades. A fun addition to my collection.

Love this! It's like a mix of the original Dirty Rose, original Dirty Violet, with cedarwood and a bit of incense. If you like the Heretic DNA, you'll like this. It applies black, though, and the pigment does not rub in. So be aware of that if you're not into incorporating black streaks into your makeup look. Personally, I don't mind the dark smudge marks on my arms and neck as they give me a reason to chat about the perfume with anyone who's curious. Recommended if you're a fan of Heretic's florals or anyone looking for a functional gothic novelty item. The compact includes a sizeable mirror, and an outer box, making it easy to take in your purse without damaging the compact itself, which I appreciate since it's so nice looking. I hope it's not a strict Limited Edition as I'd like to snag a backup before it's gone.

A smoky rose incense... It does have a bit of a cigarette vibe, but like opening a fresh pack and the ash that lingers in the ashtray after, it's not a "warm" woody smell. The packaging is divine, looks very sleek and elevated up close. It's heavy. Not cheap looking at all. The sheer black color of the solid perfume does stain your skin, so be careful if you're wearing any color other than black. I'm usually in all black though so no problem for me🤣
