The Herbalist

You're sitting on the cool forest floor clutching a satchel of herbs given to you by a local warlock. Scroll down to GenevaX's comment for the accurate notes. It opens with spicier notes, moves on to the citrus, and finishes with the cooler herbal, woody, almost medicinal scents. I enjoy that The Herbalist is a cooler spicy- it's a unique twist I wasn't expecting.

disclaimer: the notes here on Fragrantica are incorrect. But I’m not sure how I feel about this one. The opening is very lemon and pine heavy, and then it turns into herbal thyme scent. Though it doesn’t feel super appropriate for a hot day, there is some inherent stickiness in the perfume.

The notes listed on the Heretic website are entirely different: TOP: Lemon, Lavender, Cedar HEART: Hemp, Hinoki BASE: Vetiver, Ambrettolide, Frankincense, Violet Leaf Stranger still, depending on where you buy this, it is listed as either containing CBD or THC. Maybe they've changed the formulation, but based on the rollerball alone, it's impossible to tell. I'm sure the amounts it contains of either are minuscule, but even so, this is not something there should be confusion around. The scent itself is very nice - sweetish citrus and woods with some florals. It has a classic "forest floor" feel, where everything is dewy and earthy and alive. The scent of cannabis is present, but very subtle, and I get a slight but persistent pineapple-ish smell in the drydown. But I need more clarity about what on earth I'm putting on my skin.

I love The Herbalist. The whole composition feels very natural. It opens with a fresh and juicy combo of citrus notes. Then it is followed by a combination of coniferous and green notes. There is an attractive, enjoyable, non-cloying sweetness that permeates this fragrance. The Hinoki wood note is prominent to me. The Herbalist doesn’t scream “cannabis” to me. However, I randomly get a mild whiffs of it at times, which I enjoy. The greenness in TH is aromatic, fresh, and tamed. Great perfume to wear casually. A daytime perfume to me. Two thumbs up.

I think I have found a Heretic I can wear!?...I credit the Hinoki wood, an element I have come to appreciate...though I am not mad at the citrus, and find the cannabis a nice twist. I do, however, have a love/hate with the Pine. At first it was very inviting but the longer it lasted on my skin the more Pinesolesque it became and I dont want to smell like a disinfectant...so am going to sample a few more times before making the final FB commitment.
