Eau de Cologne Hermes

This stuff is amazing and thankfully completely underrated, I bought a 50ml off ebay for around 25$ with shipping and it may be the best 25$ I have spent on fragrance so far. So imagine the midpoint between Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte and Guerlain L'instant Pour Homme (the original EDT) and you have Hermes Eau de Cologne, essentially a denser more patchouli forward but also slightly sweeter variation on the Orange Verte spiel. So the opening is a blast of tart citrus with leafy green notes, a bit of an almost anise like spiciness, may also be the type of mint used, and already a bit of patchouli peaking out from the base. Unlike the Concentre version it is not as sharply tart with a bit of a playful sweetness in the mix. It dries down to a classic patchouli dominant skin scent. Overall stunning, grab one while you still can, unfortunately it comes in a classic EdC splash bottle rather than a sprayer, but that's just my personal preference. I recommend decanting into a spray bottle and then applying liberally and frequently to keep on enjoy that opening blast.

Fantastic vintage scent from Hermès. Managed to find this in my local charity shop - half full for £5. It's a dab on, so I've poured it into a decanter and can use it with a spray. This perfume evokes the essence of springtime flawlessly. The delicate floral notes are perfectly balanced with a bright, uplifting citrus accord. It's a sophisticated fragrance without being overpowering, making it ideal for everyday wear. The longevity is isn't impressing by todays standard but it does leave a subtle yet captivating trail. A truly beautiful scent that captures the spirit of renewal. It is very much of it's time which is a given as it was released in the 50s , but it translate well to modern day. Doesn't work as well in colder months unfortunately, unless you get a freak heatwave. But it's a nice cologne to preserve until the warmer months. Spring time in a bottle , is the best way to describe this scent. If you can get your hands on a bottle you should 100%.

If you like Terre d'Hermes, you'll probably like this too. I got my vintage "copper top" mini-bottle of this along with some other old vintage bottles a couple of months ago, and find its top notes immediately citrusy and refreshing. I don't think it lasts very long, but then most citrus scents don't. Not sure if I'd want to pay a lot for a full vintage bottle of this, but I've seen mini-bottles just like mine selling on eBay for cheap if you just want to sample it. I'd say it leans masculine, but a woman could probably wear it too. For what it's worth, I really enjoy it!

I like this better than Eau D'Orange Verte. It's more citrusy and bitter... All I smell mainly is the bergamot with some green notes. Although it fades pretty quick, it last a little longer than D'Orange Verte.

A bitter green smell of orange blossom; herbaceous and mossy with surprisingly calming effect on you from lavender and rosemary along with such a delicious warmness from honeysuckle. I'm hardly ever disappointed even if the scent has gone with the wind within an hour after its application, as it never fails to put a smile on my face anyway. I find even more joy in layering it with The Herbalist's bitter orange body oil which gives me Happy Feet, Happy Face and long lasting serenity. Pure Joy of Nature! Thumb up from me, indeed.

This fragrance is very suitable for hot days, given its huge and strong citrus tone, a small flaw in my case is that longevity is very short (just over half an hour) if this colony could maintain longevity a couple of hours would be very nice, this explosion of citrus leaves and rustic are remarkable; Fath Green Water and Eau de Sauvage by Dior are very similar, albeit quite dated this colony shows its charm ... Elegant and timeless, clear and joyful island of magical hours, whispering shell sweet wrecks.

I'm normally into the powdery bouquets of flowers straight from the Belle Epoque. My sister gave me a tiny sample bottle 8 years ago, which I had totally forgotten about, and I just found back again. This smells heavenly and brings me back dearly to my childhood holidays in the south of France. You're walking into a beautiful garden full of lemon trees. You get closer and get a whiff of the sugary fruits. This is fresh, yet sweet and the perfect cologne for a hot day. A beautiful scent, completely unisex!

Bitter and citrusy, at first it’s almost pure lemon peel. I then start smelling lavender and other aromatic green herbs, which are joined by light floral touches and a light chypre base. If there’s any fruit in the mix, I don’t smell it. This is a conservative, traditional cologne with the limited sillage and longevity one would expect from an EdC. There’s not too much to say except that it’s a pleasant cologne that could be splashed on and more or less forgotten.

I already forgot about this scent, but yesterday while reading comments on men's fragrances this scent popped up as one of the similar scents and I remembered from the bottle that it was one of my father's cologne I used to touch and smelled when I was in my teen. The notes were really clear to me--greenish, soothing flower scents (perhaps lavender), mild citrus, sharp patchouli at the base and mild at the dry down. I miss it.

A very mature old school skin scent. I definitely get a lot of musky vibe from this even though musk is not even mentioned as one of the notes here on fragrantica. Is it pleasant? Yes! Will I pay to buy a full bottle? No! Further, it doesn't project on my skin and the longevity is not that good either. I think it wouldn't be pleasant to smell if it was stronger than this. An aromatic bitter citrus fragrance. I get a very fresh opening blast of lemon, bergamot and minth, enhanced then by basil and cedar. As for me, I don't smell at all flower notes. I find it rather men's fragrance, it is more spicy than Concentré d'Orange verte, for exemple.

My dad used to wear this, and as a kid I actually preferred smelling this over my mum's White Linen (which always gives me a very nasty headache). This one's really light yet crisp and 'clean-smelling.' It's one of the few guy colognes I guess that I really do not mind.

Ugh. Feel like a fell for the reviews and the rating. Sure, it's okay; fresh, bright, clean, very citrusy, and definitely unisex. But the performance is terrible. Glad I only sprang for a mini bottle. I'm stickin' with Eau Sauvage EDT which is a better scent and lasts a little longer. Recommend trying a sample before goin' full-sized.

I purchased this looking for a good cirrus scent. It smells like my dad's old spice from the 1980s. I just can't get past that associate and scent. It's a strong NO for me.

I am currently wearing Hermes EAU DE COLOGNE, not D'ORANGE VERTE, and my sample is new and carded, so I think that this is a distinct fragrance, contrary to the comments of other reviewers. Hermes EAU DE COLOGNE is an invigorating and refreshing aromatic chypre to my nose. Upon initial application, I was reminded instantly of Clarins EAU DYNAMISANTE, the olfactory equivalent of a triple expresso with which I used to douse myself after every bath... EAU DE COLOGNE is indeed rather weak, but in some ways that may be nice, since it doesn't hang around long enough to interfere with whatever perfume one may have been planning for the night. Still, this is a beautiful combination of most appealing notes: citrus, mint, basil, followed by a bouquet of gentle florals, all grounded in a lovely woody chypre base. If it were available, I would gladly wear this juice in edp concentration, as it is a worthy composition with full-fledged perfume potential.

It is an EdC. So, wanting it to be stronger I decided to spray liberally. Someone asked me if I were wearing Eau Sauvage. I later realized that this last one is a high quality rendition of a citric EdC. Of course, such is the case of EdH EdC. If I were to work in a wardrobe, I'd consider this one as redundant if you have Eau Sauvage or any of the ones like it - Monsieur de Givenchy, Balmain pour Homme, Eau de Rochas Homme, even a local one like Bitter Oranges by Roses are Roses come to mind too. PS: I imagine the overall effect of the basenotes is gone since all these have been reformulated. This is what I could smell from the reformulated versions of all of the ones I mentioned. Nowadays they would be more akin to common EdCs if it were not for their complexity.

Very nice summer fragrance, centered on bitter petitgrain an citruses, with noticeable support of spicy-aromatics, florals and moss. Not knew in view of the hundreds of the other similar fragrances nowadays, but it has to be said that when released, there were only a handful on the market. That said, you can tell that there's the Hermes signature: refinement, and quiet perfection. Soft projection, but above average longevity on my skin, considering the EDC status. Not quintessential if one already own other ones in that style, but should you want to own just one, that might be the one. Hot days, 30+

Are they making this again? I used to love it; a dream to put on after a shower in the summer. Sort of like Corona beer which people look down their noses at even though you want beer to be very very watery in the heat in Mexico, so help me. You could put a ton of this cologne on and not reek; a thrill, and the alcohol evaporating of course cools you down.
