Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver

From dislike to love story. The dislike part first, what happened before. This doesn't work. I like vetiver scents a lot but this one is way too much. Maybe it is not even vetiver but Sichuan pepper that ruins the scent. After having sprayed it on my hand and shirt it only took a few minutes when I felt that I have to hide this, layer over with something else. What hide -- get rid of it as soon as possible! That was a tough task. I tried something pink, didn't work, too weak perhaps, TdhEiv rose up again like a beast that cannot be tamed. Then I tried something sweet, also didn't work -- it only worked for a minute after which the beast was back. Then I searched out a very sweet sample that I didn't like and had put aside: Trussardi Pure Jasmine EDP (nothing jasmine, only sweetness in it). This cured my hand, nice, the beast was killed there! A cloyingly sweet hand is better than a hand covered with TdhEiv, as terrible as it sounds! But on the shirt, there is still that pungent pepper or whatever it is. I emptied my Trussardi sample vial on my shirt but needed more. Try some other sweet? OK, why not! It's already the craziest testing-gone-bad anyway :) I could have just changed my shirt but it was just fun by now, like an escape the room game. I looked those other overly sweet samples put aside, once bought out of curiosity. Calvin Klein Eternity? Let's go for that. But wait a minute. My shirt now smelt like a sweet 50% sugary vanilla drink but the TdhEiv was tamed to the level it was acceptable and had become part of Trussardi Pure Jasmine, adding some relief to its overpowered sweetness. Well, sort of. I even liked that. So one didn't kill another but finally tamed it to the level they actually became friends, isn't that cute? The conclusion of this story is that I need to keep that box of sweet samples (that I don't like but can tolerate) for another possible "emergency" situation. Shall I try again the rest of the 2 ml TdhEiv sample? I doubt it, unless very carefully at most one spritz only to possibly add a note to something else that is missing something. And be prepared even then. EDIT: From dislike to love! In the meantime I went to the department store and tested different Guerlain's pour homme scents, including the vetivers. And the next time I tried TdhEiv at home, I only used it on my shirt and it was wonderful there! I just used the rest of the decanted sample and I enjoyed it all. Nothing pungent that I felt before. Maybe I learned to like vetiver more in the meantime. But I avoid it on my skin, that's for sure.

When I first tried the original TdH I loved the dirty orange scent that distinguishes it from all the mainstream freshies inundating the market nowadays. It was fresh , manly and very polished . A gentleman's fragrance that didn't smell like shower gel . Balanced . Clean and very classy It became my favourite scent but it wasn't complete . Felt like something was missing ...the orange was too obstinate and overpowering, while the woody notes barely lifted out of the citrus accords. It's easy to get bored of smelling like dirty orange rind Acceptance meant that the search continued to find a fresh scent that also had a warm , clean , woody and manly vibe but less of the citrus . After trying many different designer and niche fragrances, and falling into many interesting rabbit holes , from conventional to classic old vintages , to modern and prohibitively expensive disappointments ... My search for the signature scent continued to prove elusive. I wasn't sure what I was looking for or what I wanted , but was finding it very easy to know what I didn't want . Occasionally going back to the original Terre D'hermes recalibrated my sense of direction and kept me on track . Then recently , going through duty free , I decided to try and squirt this flanker And just WOW. This is it . Spent the whole flight smelling my wrist . The added vetiver adds the "Terre" / dirt element to it and mellows out the citrus to reveal what is clearly a masterpiece in my opinion. It takes a little of Guerlain's classic and brings a fresh and invigorating fragrance that also presents as clean, classy and very comforting scent . This is a scent that you can wear any time of year , any time of day . Either wearing a nice suit for a special occasion or that important business meeting... or in your dungarees covered in sawdust while chopping wood for your log cabin wood stove. The drydown is addictive , my wife absolutely loves it and I'm pretty sure I prefer it to the parfum. The sillage is moderate to strong , but the longevity on my skin is incredible. A few sprays in the morning and the scent bubble still going strong after 4 hours , only becoming a skin scent after about 6 to 7 hours later . Absolute perfection in a bottle 10/10

I love guerlain vetiver and terre d'hermes EDP. Had to try this one. Bought a sample. Comparing side by side with Guerlain Vetiver. The terre citrus opening is there but the vetiver comes out immediately. Green, sharp, smoky. Compared to Guerlain's green soapy with a more subtle citrus. In the initial dry down, the signature flint of Terre d'hermes is there with a spicy sweet kick. Likely the pepper note listed. I know the flint ia not listed but I smell it. When o aae the note list I didnt believe theres no flint. O even sprayed the EDP just to make sure. There is definitely a flint note in the Intense Vetiver, no matter what the list is showing. The vetiver is there but unlike Guerlain's smooth soapy green, it smells drier, a more relaxed green. Its sharp but beautiful. As it dries down, it has the flint and vetiver accord. Im in love! I love terre d'hermes. EDP i prefer due to its more rounded smoothed out refinement. I feel its more versatile over the edt. Terre d hermes Intense Vetiver is absolutely in my top 10 (i wish we could add more thab 5 or 6 favorites to our profile!). Where Guerlain dries into this beautiful soft green smooth soapy accord, Terre Vetiver intense is earthy, flint dry vetiver with a little warmth from the resins in the base. But the vetiver really cuts the warmth compared to the original edt or edp. I feel the vetiver accentuates the flint and the flint takes the greeniness of vetiver away and you get a true dry non soapy scent. The two work so well together. This for me, is easily a 10/10 and probably my favorite of all the Terre d'hermes line. It can be worn any time of the year. The citrus opening isnt too bright that it is a summer only vibe, as the vetiver is their from the beginning. I cant imagine a time where I wouldn't wear it. If you love vetiver, this is a must buy!

A safe and refined choice for those who want elegance in the bottle and on the skin.

I imagine this wasn't designed with the 20-year-old female audience in mind, but it is the only perfume I wear, and the few people who get close enough to smell it say it's lovely. I had a 3ml free sample that I'd been sent once, and I carefully rationed it out. Every time I hugged my mum while wearing it, she said I smelt lovely, and, the first time, she asked me what I'd been doing or where I'd been to smell like that. I told her what it was, and then about a year later she bought me a bottle for my 18th birthday, saying I'd found my scent. I do think it requires heat and skin and a bit of sweat to smell so gorgeous - I'm not quite as enamoured with the smell of it alone as I am of it on me. I'm not great at describing perfume but it kind of smells like you've walked up a mountain, through a forest that has recently been burning, and now you're hot and you have been sweating, but the air is dry so you're not really sweaty anymore, and you're lying in nearly dry grass. It smells like ambiguously humid warmth - you're not quite sure if it's humid and a bit musty, or arid and woody - it's a bit like being in the citrus glasshouse at a botanical garden. It just smells a lot like a person, and the conglomeration of smells you can pick up just moving through life - it makes me want to wear cotton, to take off my shoes and walk on hot pavement, to pick up my hair and feel the sun on the back of my neck, to hug someone with bare arms and feel their skin on mine, to eat a spoonful of good honey, to lie on a wooden floor. It's sensual in the sheer-pleasure-of-having-a-physical-body way more than anything else.

This one surprised me in a very good way. Sharp citrus juice that has a natural feel to it with a lightly woody essence from the Vetiver, amberwood and a slight earthiness from the patchouli. Nagel blended these quite well as they evolve seamlessly at each stage of the wearing from top to bottom. While still having that Terre D'Hermes DNA intact from opening to close. It melds the classic Vetiver ambiance from the heavies like Guerlain Vetiver & TF Grey Vetiver but, with a brighter start and a lighter woods & Vetiver dry down that is more modern & set for today's fragrance standards. Don't get me wrong as it has that classic touch but, more contemporary and not as Vetiver influenced as the aforementioned two fragrances (which I also own and love. None are redundant in my opinion) while still staying within this fragrance family's core of citrus & woods by Hermes. Anyone can wear this and it can truly be a signature scent year round for any man that wants to have a subtle but, unique distinction of the normal blues of today or pure citrus & marine aquatics that shower the landscape. It's manly and composed for those whom appreciate the classics of yesteryear and want something that stays true to that essence while still projecting a modern vibe seamlessly. For me Eau Intense Vetiver is a no brainer fragrance for Men that admire & hold traditional core values and simultaneously can have space for compromise for the newer mindset of thinking and moving forward. It still announces that you're an Effing man, toxic or not & be proud of it. Here come the screamers 😉

It is hard to be objective about something, what you are obsessed with. xD It is generally a woody-amber formula with vetiver and citrus note to my nose. High projection and longevity. (8 hours on my skin easily) Very intense, diffusive, yet airy and lifted with lots of freshness. In my opinion, it has some connection to 60-90s chypre and vetiver French classics, being totally modernized in the same time. It smells very modern, elegant and masculine. Iso E Super as a raw material wasn't that widely used in 60s, I believe, - here there is a wall of it in the perfume base, or maybe its variation Timbersilk. I imagine also lots of Ambrox, different expansive Ambers like Timberol, Vetiveryl Acetate, Methyl Pamplemousse, citrus and floral Terpenes obviously, lots of Hedione and some neural Lily of the valley notes to enhance the lift and projection. Objectively: it's just a very clever technical work. Subjectively: it smells lovely. Well, not everyone will like such olfactive profile. I think, that majority of this line's projects are very nicely made by J. Claude-Ellena and Ch. Nagel. It seems to be an illustration of bringing vetiver olfactory profiles from previous era to a recent one - it smells elegant and balanced, not being outdated at all. I recommend this perfume together with EDT and Parfum concentration for every vetiver fan in fragrances. It could be potentially an all year signature for certain individuals. A great choice for elegant 'white shirt' outfits, professional environments. From office work to summer chill on the yacht.

I understand now why calling Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver simply a “clean masculine vetiver” never resonated with me. On my skin — on a hot summer day, with a slight layer of perspiration already sitting on the body — it becomes something completely different. Not bright vetiver cologne. Not office-clean masculinity. It turns into a warm, smoky, woody aura hovering just above the skin. The vetiver is not the main character to me. It appears in tiny dry spikes that cut through the warmth, creating air, structure, and movement inside the composition. What surprised me most is how erotic it feels — but not in a performative “seductive fragrance” way. There is nothing loud, sweet, or attention-seeking about it. It smells like the warmth left on skin after intimacy: slightly salty, slightly smoky, bodily, lived-in. As if the perfume merges with heat, skin, and air instead of sitting on top of them. That’s what makes it incredibly wearable in hot weather. The heat doesn’t destroy the fragrance — it completes it. I think this aspect of the perfume is deeply underappreciated. People approach it through the lens of “masculine vetiver,” so they mainly talk about cleanliness, structure, and professionalism. But worn differently — especially on warm skin — it becomes something profoundly human rather than masculine. I also think it is absolutely suitable for women, not in a “borrowing from the boys” sense, but because its sensuality comes from texture, warmth, dryness, and bodily atmosphere rather than from masculine performance.

Really nice fragrance. Aaron Terence Hughes over on YouTube rated this as his overall favorite vetiver fragrance in a giant multi-video comparo he did a few months ago, and I can see why. I fully concur – this is signature-worthy. Personally, I think this fragrance suffers from poor name choice – "Intense Vetiver" freaks a lot of people out. I know I was hesitant to even try this for a long time. But now having done so, this might be my favorite from the Terre d’Hermes line. I like it more than the original EDT (which I found dangerous to overspray), and even more than the excellent Pure Parfum. Eau Givree is outstanding as well, but this one is more versatile; very natural and green, fresh and snappy, very pleasant... nothing unduly harsh. (The EDT is far riskier to wear in the heat; I’ve had to wash it off more than once.) I think Eau Intense Vetiver's scent profile is closer to Eau Givree than to the EDT – I get clear echoes of Eau Givree in the top notes, but with a smoother, greener slant. Wonderfully blended. People on here calling this a noxious vetiver nose bomb really make me shake my head.... Guerlain Vetiver knocks me backwards far more than this does. This is classy and mature to be sure, but smooth and wearable. I find nothing noxious or off-putting about this. (In fact, the one minor knock I would give this scent is somewhat marginal EDT-level performance.) In short – I really like it. Classically masculine, with modern appeal. Could become a favorite classy summertime go-to.

Love at first sniff. My favorite Terre along with the original EDT and Eau Tres Fraiche. This is the most modern non-sweet vetiver-dominant frag I've ever smelled. Sharp, peppery, grapefruity. Smells classy, somewhat rugged, much more palatable to contemporary noses than the classic vetivers such as Guerlain or Encre Noire. What a great feat to bring the vetiver forward from start to finish, make it modern and pay homage to M. Ellena with that unmistakable TdH DNA. Compared with TdH EDT, it's fresher, more watery and grassy, less flinty and more peppery, with just as good whole day longevity and definitely not redundant if you own the original. The vibe is slightly more formal than EDT - it feels out of place if I am dressed casually. Out of all TdH, I would not wear Vetiver and Parfum versions without at least a button-up shirt and/or a sport coat. Projection is notably quite strong, the strongest out of all Terre d'Hermes fragrances. Surprisingly, I've found it quite suitable for even freezing cold winter as well, which is unusual for fresh vetiver fragrances - although, of course, TdH EDP Intense is the undisputed king of TdH for winter use. Overall, 9.8/10, on par with EDT and ETF.

Oh, this is the replacement for my BV Illusione that I've been looking for. This turns down the earthiness of the OG TdH and brightens up the citrus. It's also a bit floral, and though it's not listed, I get something that reminds me of ginger - probably the pepper. It's a very bright scent overall, and I can imagine that this is what walking through an orange grove in bloom on a sunny day smells like. Absolutely delightful, this never fails to make me happy whenever I catch a whiff of it throughout the day. At 200 AUD for a 100mL bottle at full retail, this is a little bit pricey for a designer fragrance, but I think it's worth it. I will continue to buy this so long as they keep making it. Edit: I'm not sure I see the comparisons between this and Guerlain Vetiver. My 2010s bottle of the Guerlain isn't really anywhere close to this. Guerlain Vetiver is much drier, the citrus much brighter and more tart. The vetiver there leans a lot more into the dried hay aspects of vetiver than this ever does. It's one of the best perfumes ever made in my opinion, but it's not for everyone. This is much easier to wear, but still excellent.

The OG and Guerlain's Vetiver always have been my favourite vetivers, and signature scents. I love the OG's dirty orange and added the Intense immediately when launched for it's spicy citrusy freshness and earthy dry base. However, two years later I dropped it out of my lineup. Recently I sniffed it again during a shopping trip and couldn't believe how good it still is and asked myself what possessed me to drop it in the first place, I must have had a psychotic episode of sorts. Intense is quite simply a classic, classy, sophisticated gentleman scent suited for professional and social occasions alike. It projects fresh, aromatic with a deep elegant vetiver boost to root. Performance on me is good in terms of sillage and longevity. I prefer this over "blue fresh" options and recommend it to anyone looking for a discerning alternative. Opposites attract: the OG is juicy, mildly sour sweet and hay-dry, while the Intense is spicy fresh and vibrantly green woody. Both worth having, as for me, they complement each other beautifully.

#1 daily wearer frag as of 9/25. Confused a bit on these other reviews. This opens up with a non-offense citrus burst with a light pepper and woody/vetiver behind it. The dry down is masculine, but in a nice manly way. Not a mature way per say. Meaning this frag could he worn by anyone with confidence over the age of 25. Its an easy wear and blind buy safe. I do not understand how you could not like this if you have any type of appreciation for frags. Its not a required taste, and is not as earthy as I thought it would be, but far from barbershop/soapy. Its balanced nicely, you can't say its too raw and earthy, and only has the slightest hint of mineral unlike givree which is heavy and a required taste. No smoke or resins in this one (which is a good thing). Its an easier wear that Terre in my opinion, being less masculine. My 30 year old girlfriend said twice on the first day of arrival "what are you wearing? It smells really good - out of everything you have this is my favorite". Its simple. Buy this without regrets.

I love this fragrance. It somehow simultaneously smells like something I want to eat at a bakery, bright and clean, and slightly woody/masculine. It adds the right amount of sharp and sweet notes to balance out its heavier woody undertones so it never feels like an annoyingly masculine fragrance. There’s a slight artificial note that again is well-balanced with earthier counterparts so that it actually makes it smell more luxurious. Though I think it probably matches warm daytime moods best, I honestly don’t think it would feel out of place in any season or time of day. My one complaint is that it doesn’t seem to last as long on me as it does for other reviewers, so if I apply it in the morning I don’t really smell it by late afternoon. I usually have to reapply before evening plans, which is kind of nice for me though because then I get to start out the evening with the great top notes again. Just wish I didn’t have to go through it so fast since it’s not cheap (not crazy though). Anyway I love it!

This is what rich smells like when it's not trying to impress anyone. I own 190ml of it. That's not a casual purchase — that's a decision. And it holds up every single time. In total, I used over 500ml of it over time. Ellena built this the way he built everything — by removing what others thought was necessary. Most vetiver fragrances need to prove themselves with sharpness, with smoke, with volume. EIV just exists. The vetiver is earthy and mineral and slightly green, and underneath it there's a warmth that never tips into sweetness. It's the most satisfied I've ever smelled on skin. I tested it back-to-back against a well-regarded niche competitor recently. The competitor had interesting moments — a leather and wood drydown I respected technically. But next to EIV it felt flat. The Hermès didn't compete. It just stood there being complete. Wears beautifully in heat. Doesn't collapse, doesn't amplify the wrong things. For a Black Sea summer it is close to perfect.

Hermes and Guerlain, always have been my favourite designer houses. This flanker is another brilliant concoction coming off the Hermes assembly line. Nothing matches the OG in terms of being the archetypal, distinguished gentleman scent, however TDHEIV is a close second. Carries the signature TDH scent, aided by solid, earthy vetiver. There is no orange note in this, however all other citrus notes are present. The pepper note adds a spicy element, but the real facet here is the Olibanum note, which balances the vetiver and maintains its distinctiveness as compared to Vetiver Guerlain. This one is right up there in the classic top 10 men's releases. All seasonal scent? Hell yeah, the icy vetiver merged with Olibanum, makes for adequate use in fall and winter as well Unisex? Masculine. Blind buy worthy? TDH plus vetiver, a no-brainer Performance? Longevity, around 6 to 7 hours, with decent projection and sillage.

i am absolutely in love with this fragrance, even if it doesn’t stay long on my skin. it basically performs like an edt, even when sprayed on my clothes. but if you can keep it on you (which is easy, since it comes in baby bottles that you can get super cheap on fragrancenet) it is a citrusy, perfect vetiver fragrance for summer. I think this smells absolutely sexy with sweat, which is perfect for summertime. It’s refreshing, but if you don’t like vetiver, just don’t go for it. I think vetiver has a certain permanent marker quality, and I kind of like smelling like a Staples, so take this at face value. When I first smelled it— granted, I had probably gone anosmic— in a Sephora, I thought it kind of smelled like Comme des Garçons 2, but I can’t compare. I think this is my fave contemporary masculine, and if I smelled it on a man, I might gain respect for the whole gender. I also love wearing this at night!

What can i say here... One of the best spring/summer fragrances ever, for me. I own TDH edt, TDH EDP Intense and the parfum, i just adore all of them, but when i smelled this one, i just decided this is absolutely different scent in its way and worth owning in my collection, gosh, i even like it more than OG and Parfum versions! Good performer, longer lasting than EDT and Parfum, projects loudly first hour and a half maybe, then followed by a moderate projection which is how it should be. Classy, masculine. I dont see it to be worn with joggers and hoodies. Many around me acknowledge the greatness of TDH line but not really love them by all means, but this one is one of my wife's favorite fragrances from my collection. Not a safe blind buy, and neither is the price very welcoming for the most part as i only see it on discounters once a year. To sum up, masculinity , zestiness and freshness in a bottle

For me, a really excellent flanker, if you like the original EdT. It maintains the DNA of the orginal, but feels different enough to have a place. Fresh, dry, warm and spicy. To me the flintyness is bit subdued in this one. Instead, I get a a very strong, realistic and unusual note of sichuan pepper which I really love - it has a very unique fruity / herbal / spicy smell that you will instantly recognise if you have cooked with it before. Of course the earthy vetiver is more forward, but without the flinty, sun-warmed-rocks note from the EdT, it somehow feels 'cleaner' despite being more earthy. Overall it feels a bit warmer and more resinous. Really pleasant and well balanced to me. Go for it if: - you like Terre D'hermes DNA - you like earthy vetiver fragrances - you like the smell of sichuan peppercorn (this is most important, because it is a very unique note)

Coming back to this just to state Intense Vetiver has some serious lasting power. Last time I wore it, I was getting whiffs the next morning before my shower over 14 hours later. I could still smell it very prominently. I applied 3 sprays to my neck. Pretty impressive stuff. As for the scent, it is a sour grapefruit/bergamot followed by piquant pepper and an amazing geranium middle. The floral nature of the geranium is my favorite part about this fragrance, I can't get enough of it. The base has some powerful vetiver that doesn't end up smelling too dirty/earthy, it adds the perfect amount of earthiness and really helps ground the scent. You can find this on discounters for cheap and it's 100% worth the price. I'd recommend testing first because it is not as mass appealing as the original TdH is but I much prefer the Intense Vetiver flanker.
