Terre d'Hermès

Where to begin? Ok... this may be one of the most unhinged reviews of this fragrance. For that, I'm sorry. To counter balance the weird I will try to weave in some poetry. Let me first state that Terre d'Hermes is 10/10. No notes. This is a fairly divisive fragrance that has a very love/hate devotion out there in the scent-world. But I stand by that 10/10 perfect score. It's really not for everyone. That's ok. I wanted to get that out of the way because this can come off sounding like a pretty meh review near the end! It's not intended that way. You'll see. Let's begin. First, the Orange and citrus hit you in surprising ways. It hits you with a cedar plank and then throws rocks at you while you're trying to recover; prone on the forest floor, the tangy metalic scent of blood seeping from your fresh wounds as you attempt to gather your bearings and regain your focus. That's because "top, middle, and base" notes mean nothing here. I think part of it's divisiveness is that you're confronted with the total scent all at once. That is the genius and artistry of Jean-Claude Ellena's at work. He has combined very specific scents on a molecular level to work in harmony rather than stages. It can be hard to focus and bring out specific notes because it's difficult to push others to the background. It is the olfactory equivalent to a Magic Eye image. You know the ones; they look like repeating patterns and textures until you can focus on the image of the dog peeing on the fire hydrant or the stage coach and a lone mesquite tree. Some people make this happen by bringing the image to the foreground, some (like me) find it easier to push everything that is not the picture to the background. That is this scent. Sharp citrus, mild florals, warm woods, damp moss, and smooth stone, all at once flowing into an earthy petrichor of perfection! Long lasting and lingering (on my skin) but not overwhelming. This is a scent that others can enjoy as they meet you, it is not a scent that announces your arrival. Part of the beauty of this fragrance is it's profile isn't comprised of dozens of notes for complexity. It is formed by far fewer notes that play and interweave off one another like a symphony with a theme that recedes, then hides, and reemerges in unexpected ways. It doesn't need need dozens of instruments, it only requires a few, expertly woven together like a tapestry. Bottom line... this unique scent is a must own for your shelf. Get the OG EDT. It's the experience that Ellena, the master perfumer, intended. The original vision is always prefferable to the versions that intend to make art more mass appealing. Sure, wear what you like, but it's good to know where the roots are. It's simple yet complex; rich and watery. It floats and dredges; thick as honey and flowing like a mountain stream. It is a contronym, it's own opposite. Both sides of the coin. That may be why so many people just can't appreciate it. It says "I'm thoughtful and grounded. I'm not chasing trends, I'm confident yet subtle. Why use 10 words when one will do? I am elemental, a philosopher; I stand out by not trying to stand out. I am quiet elegance, not the loudest in the room. I am distinct." In a world where we are taught the opposite is true, Terre d'Hermes proves otherwise.

Enough has been written about this stuff that anything I add will surely be superfluous, so I'll keep this brief: Somehow, 18 years after its release, Terre d'Hermès still smells like nothing else. You either love it or you don't, and if you do, you've probably been wearing it for years and have no intention of stopping (join the club, we have donuts in the next room). But even if you hate it, you can't deny its uniqueness, its clarity, and its bold coloring. Terre d'Hermès has been in my olfactory stable for so long - at work, at play, in the background during major moments of my life - that smelling it "on the street" is like greeting an old friend, one who made an impression on me years ago and who's lost none of his charm. Breaking Terre d'Hermès down into its component accords (bergamot, geranium, vetiver, cedar, flint, you know the drill) does exactly zero justice to the experience of wearing it. It's an aura as much as a scent. Easygoing yet utterly distinctive; outdoorsy but refined; sparkle and sunshine with a dashing grin. A one of a kind, once-in-a-generation touchstone. Even if you never wear it, you need to smell it. ---- P.S. If the eau de toilette is too sharp and spiky for you with all that bracing bergamot and deafening gunpowder, check out Terre d'Hermès Parfum, released in 2009 and surely at least partially responsible for the glut of “parfum” concentrations marketed to men in the years since. There is still that woody-orange freshness and contrasting flint, but the parfum lowers the volume and bolsters the drydown with stronger resins, oakmoss, cedar, and leather. It leans harder into classic masculine chypre territory, ironically a breath of fresh air in these times of nuclear woody ambers and burnt-sugar salvos. The lasting power is excellent but it stays close to the skin, so you needn’t be afraid of gassing anyone out. I think I prefer the brighter and slightly more energetic EdT, but not by much. P.P.S. Ignore the “only for OLDER MATURE MEN” comments from clueless fragbros radiating the latest Aventus knockoff. Terre d'Hermès was released in 2006, not the goddamn Gilded Age. I was happily wearing it at 25, along with millions of other young men, and it's still one of my diehard favorites. If it works for you, it works really well , and your age has nothing to do with it. Own that shit. P.P.P.S. Been wearing it regularly since 2010 and it's always smelled the same to me. But when it comes to the topic of reformulations, I put little stock in unreliable, misty-eyed memories of perfumes past. Your mileage may vary. P.P.P.P.S. Never trust anyone who says, "I'll keep this brief."

This fragrance is simply amazing. It never gets old or boring. It's timeless. It's vintage. It's modern. It's clean. It's dirty. It's captures true expression like a piece of art would an emotion. I would imagine if you have never smelled this before and someone passed by wearing this, your eyes would follow, your expression might drop, and after quickly recovering, that stranger wearing terre d'hermes would be a focal point until they were out of site. My imagination creates a vivid sensation through this scent of what John Lennon's vintage Gibson acoustic guitar might smell like after being cleaned with a woody orange citrus polish and stored away in an imaginary cedar lined case. That is how powerful this fragrance is to me. Very classy, very powerful, and very stimulating. Clean yet dirty, woody fresh yet delightfully aged, orange peel, dirty citrus acidic woods, under ripe ruby red grapefruit, day old orange pulp muddled nicely in a fresh cut cedar mug. A hint of pinecomb, but then again not, perhaps a hint of fresh pine sap that has somehow found a way onto your clothing. You fold it, it's dry and hard and releases it's piney aroma mixed with your sticky fingers from peeling an orange. Imagine, the aroma of cracked pine sap and sticky orange fingers....and the smile that follows. Very good projection, in fact unbelievable on my skin. A scent trail so wonderful it turns heads and makes impressions. The rest is up to you..lol. I have received many compliments, and many "what on earth is that you're wearing?". Especially at work. (Fine dining restaurant). You know, many people have "opinions" about who, when, where, and why whatever is appropriate or not about fragrance and how and when it should be worn. If a fragrance makes you feel good inside it's the right fragrance, so wear it....there is no other way to enjoy what you're wearing unless you're enjoying what you're wearing. Dress shoes no socks and cut off shorts... The opinions will come as they always do, confidence is key...Fragrances don't come with instruction manuals, just many opinions.... Terre D'Hermes is one of the best fragrances I have ever had the pleasure of sniffing. 8/10 longevity EDT 10/10 longevity EDP 9/10 projection EDT & EDP EDP/stronger sense of spicy muddled orange EDT/ orange woods for a long time........

The first time I smelled this scent was about 5/6 years ago, on a guy that was on his was to have lunch at the same place as me. I was walking about 15 feet behind him and his scent trail was just amazing. My immediate thought was "this guy smells like money". Fast forward a few years to me watching fragrance reviews on YouTube. As I'm trying to narrow down which fragrances I'd like to try out, the reviewer says the exact same thing about this fragrance (smells like money). Mind you, I had no idea that this was the fragrance that had mesmerised me a few years back. So I added it to my list of scents to try out. When I found myself at the mall, I went into the fragrance shop and asked them to spray it on a test strip for me. I immediately recognised it. MONEY!! I asked them to spray it on my skin so I could see how it performs on my skin as I walked around. It was perfect. I bought the 50ml bottle just so I could give it a few wears to make absolutely sure that it works for me. I gave this one full wear and I was sold. A lot of reviews said that this is a polarising scent which would be hit or miss with people. After that initial wear I didn't care what anyone around me thought of it. I loved it and I was gonna wear it as my signature scent. However, it turns out that every time I wear this scent I receive at least one compliment. On one occasion, a guy who went into a restroom a little while after me asked waitresses at a restaurant who the person was that went in before him. After being directed to me, he said he smelled it lingering in the air and HAD TO find out what it was 😂. This scent is absolute perfection to me. I live in a city with moderate climate that ranges from 15-30 degrees Celsius across all seasons. I wear this all year round, day and night. Its lasts about 8-10hrs on my skin, projects about 4-5 feet (just over a meter) and leaves a gorgeous scent trail. My only problem is finding a different scent that smells just as good and performs just as well, for the sake of variety. Any suggestions? I first smelled Terre in Manchester Airport in August 2023, killing time before a flight to Italy for my honeymoon. Picked up the tester, sprayed my wrist, and that was that. Bought a bottle before I got to the gate. In Italy it became hard to separate from the trip itself. Milan and Florence, heat coming off the stone, long lunches, that specific tiredness you get from looking at too much beautiful stuff in one day. Afternoon naps we hadn't planned. Museums that left you quiet. Terre d'Hermès didn't really announce itself in any of that: it was just there, earthy and dry, less something I was wearing than something I'd settled into. About a year later I was driving through Liverpool with a friend, doing a loose Beatles tour, and she said from the passenger seat: "I don't know what you're wearing but you smell great." No big deal, just a passing comment. But it stuck with me, because the context was completely different and it still worked. Still felt right. That's probably when I understood what it actually does. It doesn't try to grab attention. It's not loud, not sweet, not the kind of thing that makes an entrance. There are fragrances that do all that and do it well; this just isn't interested in competing with them. It's quieter than that. More settled. I keep coming back to this idea that it's geological somehow. Not heavy, just solid. Dependable in a way that's hard to explain without sounding like you're overselling it. It's the kind of scent that doesn't need the room to be looking at it. The best fragrance I have ever owned.

A timeless classic which i keep coming back to. Mature manly scent crafted masterfully, which i'd recommend for 30+. Suitable for all seasons except for freezing cold i'd say. As for ocassions, can be worn either daily or for special ocassions , except for the gym. One of my all time favorites, i like the parfum version as well but its nowhere near as loud as this one or the Intense Vetiver which is my favorite TDH for hot summer days. Although somehow my wife keeps liking and disliking this fragrance, i understand overspraying can be irritating for another nose. Performance has always been good as long as i remember. Dont know about newest batches though. Sillage is strong in the opening and settles down to an arm length after 4 hours. But hey, remember, this is an EDT version. And there will always be a scent of trail you'll leave behind even after 5-6 hours. For me 4 sprays do the job. But sometimes i add another one on the wrist to enjoy it time to time. If oversprayed , it will surely perform better than above. Every time i decide to buy a new bottle or refill of TDH , i feel a need to own all the versions of this masterpiece. Even the latest EDP Intense is getting more and more attention lately after using half a bottle and not really giving it love it actually deserved. To conclude , for me TDH stands as an all-time classic with Dior Homme or Bleu De Chanel.

While I wouldn't call myself an exhaustive collector, I’ve tested a fair share of perfumes, and Terre d’Hermès remains my absolute favorite. It is a masterpiece that appears simple on the surface but possesses incredible depth. The Art of Wearing It This fragrance is all about how you carry it. If you know how to pull it off, it can boost your aura by 20 points; but if you don't, it can bring you down just as much. It fits perfectly with both casual-chic and formal suits. In fact, wearing this scent makes you feel like putting on a crisp shirt. Even though it was created in 2006, it still has so much to say in the modern world. A Unique Experience It’s not the easiest fragrance to use—it doesn’t fit every environment or every occasion. But for me, it’s special. When I carry it well, the compliments just keep coming. It truly feels like a gift from Hermes to the world. However, I wouldn't recommend a blind buy; its unique profile can be polarizing for some noses. The Composition The blend of orange, grapefruit, and flint is simply magnificent. To me, it’s a source of pure happiness.

This is a wonderful scent that is truly timeless. I'm in my 50s and there's something about this one that feels a tad nostalgic, but never in a way that makes it seem dated. It's such a masterful blend of citrus, vetiver, woods, pepper, and that iconic flint note. It's fresh, earthy, rich, and refined but versatile. It's rightly described by many as a mature scent, but less so in a chronological way than in a psychological way: it doesn't smell like an old man, but like a confident and secure man who knows the value of subtlety. Young guys can totally own this scent if they're comfortable in their own skin and have an appreciation for refinement and class. I love the complexity of TDH and how I get different impressions from it from one moment to the next. Sometimes it's the rindy orange, sometimes the woody cedar, and sometimes the smokey vetiver and spicy pepper - and always nuanced with that hint of stony flint. It's perfectly blended and manages to offer excellent versatility, wearable in any season and in most any occasion. There aren't many fragrances I would put in the "must own" category for men, but this would be one of them.

Terre d’Hermes is not a club fragrance. It is a fragrance of morning after the storm. When the city is still asleep, the asphalt is steaming off the rain, and you walk into a building with large glass windows, where other people’s futures are decided. No rush. No panic. Just control. It is not a fragrance for the boy who wants to look like a man. It is a fragrance for the man who no longer needs to prove anything. It doesn’t matter how high you climb. What matters is how much earth you still carry inside you.

Terre d'Hermès is the fragrance I always come back to. I've tried dozens of fragrances over the years, but nothing quite scratches the same itch. Every time I wear it, I notice something different. The opening is bright and citrusy, but underneath there's an earthy, mineral quality that slowly comes to life. As it dries down it becomes smoother, woodier and more refined. What I love most is how well blended it is. Nothing feels harsh or out of place. Every note flows naturally into the next, giving the fragrance real depth and complexity. It evolves throughout the day without ever losing its character. This isn't a loud fragrance that demands attention. It's subtle, confident and effortlessly sophisticated. It smells mature without feeling old-fashioned, and works just as well in the office as it does on holiday or for an evening out. I've bought plenty of fragrances hoping they'd replace Terre d'Hermès. None have. It remains my benchmark for quality and blending, and every time I wear it I'm reminded why it's considered a modern classic. 10/10. For me, this is as close to a perfect fragrance as I've worn.

For years I thought its average smelling for me and a bit too bitter. Yesterday when I was looking for a scent that is masculine, classy and not very sweet I felt like it is amazing on the test strip and bought it. It seems to have a problem with both longevity and projection. For example female friend could not smell it on me(I think I put 4 sprays 1 hour ago before seeing her) But at least she said it is 10/10 and really amazing when she smelt it from bottle. But this scent is certainly not great or even pleasant for everyone, but this is something I can deal with really well as I wear fragrance firstly for myself. Yesterday another female said it is very bad smelling and gave it 3/10 and today a male friend said it is too bitter for him. Although projection seems to be really weak, I also can't smell it well on myself even half hour after applying it, I still give it a love because it is different, classy and I like the smell a lot, even though I'm still not very used to scents that have so little sweetness.

I don't understand the age thing everyone is talking about. I first smelled this scent when I was about 11 (2013) and immediately fell in love with it. It was to me, the best thing I had ever smelled. Now, at 20 years old I bought it. And, no - you won't smell stupid if you aren't rich and in your 40s. Every scent works if you are confident and wear it with pride. Just last month, I put it on to test it on my girlfriend, without telling her. About 5 minutes into our date and she "wanted to rip my clothes off". Other women also love it on me. Haven't got a bad review yet. Just for the compliment-oriented people. But remember, wear what you like and what makes you feel unique and confident. Generally, you could wear this in all situations, accept for the heights of summer. I wouldn't exactly recommend you put this before a morning coffee date in the summer. It's too heavy for that IMO. But, in general, if you get to know it and ration your sprays, it could easily be an all-year fragrance.

I picked up Terre d’Hermès as a blind buy from Marshall’s. It kept coming up repeatedly during my fragrance exploration, but I wasn’t able to find a tester or sample locally. Eventually, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided it was worth taking a chance on a 50ml bottle at around $70. What surprised me most was how closely it resembled Sycomore from Chanel. While there are clear differences — most notably Terre d’Hermès’ brighter, citrus-driven opening — the drydown reveals a vetiver-forward character that gives me the same grounded, mineral quality I enjoy so much in Sycomore. The shared DNA becomes especially apparent as the fragrance settles. Because of this, Terre d’Hermès feels like something I can comfortably reach for in situations where Sycomore might feel a bit too reserved or contemplative. It doesn’t replace Sycomore for me, but it does sit right alongside it — a signature-adjacent option that offers similar depth with a bit more movement and brightness.

I grabbed a bottle early into my fragrance journey from seeing so many reviews and posts about how TDH edt is a timeless classic and a work of art in perfumery and I can't disagree. the opening is a bitter orange note like you took the skin off an orange and tossed the actual fruit away which caught me off guard as someone starting out in fragrances who only had worn blue and fresh fragrances, but overtime as my nose developed, I've grown to really appreciate the notes and scent. it also has a woody, clean, dry note under the orange that works great together. it's an amazing office/work scent and good for any time of the year. I couldn't put my finger on it when I first smelled it as to why it seemed so familiar until it came to me and then I recognized it smells so similar to something my grandfather used to wear. it's not an "old man" scent but it's definitely mature. it truly smells classic but modern. a timeless fragrance and worth it for the price point.

Terre d'Hermes is a really nice, well transitioning fragrance. I find it to be a pleasing citrus smell that then evolves into a more peppery, woody smell that doesn't shout out that it's there, but rather lets people know subtly which is quite nice compared to other more woody/spicy oriented colognes that I have smelt. I mainly bought this due to the flint note but ended up with a fragrance that I know I will be buying for a long time. Although the flint note is somewhat non-existent, the other notes to me just make this a perfect everyday fragrance, I would even say that it could be a signature/daily scent due to how interesting and lovely it smells. I would however recommend smelling it first as it does have a smell that some people may not enjoy and is also somewhat expensive compared to other designer fragrances, but with how long it lasts, how nice it smells, how versatile it is, I think that you are definitely getting bang for your buck.

Terre d'Hermès EDT is a fragrance with a distinctly classic and masculine aura. It opens with its iconic, sharp citrus accord, which can be challenging at first but is exactly what I enjoy about it. As it develops, I can clearly detect the polished mineral character of the flint note. In the drydown, vetiver takes center stage, creating a smooth, velvety, and comforting finish. If you enjoy Dior Homme (2020) or Dunhill Icon EDP, this fragrance is well worth trying, although I wouldn't recommend blind buying. It can certainly work as a signature scent, but its bold opening may require a wearer who appreciates more unconventional compositions. Even so, I consider it a versatile fragrance. Its longevity and projection are what to expect from a EDT. The bottle itself conveys elegance and refinement. I believe every fragrance enthusiast should have it in their collection, given its significance in the history of modern perfumery.

@jonnyjonnerson Mean this respectfully - I'm not quite sure how you manage to equate .."non-threatening, quiet and kind.." with toxic masculinity (unfairly or otherwise, "old fashioned" or not) but someone, somewhere has got their wires crossed. Seems like you're reading a bit much into it, from my perspective, and the scent can't take a trick. "Grandfather"? It's only 20 years old! lol It might help if you provide another quite different type of fragrance, as a counterpoint to what you are trying to say, so that we can appreciate what it is you mean. This is timeless to me, albeit the iso-E Super aspect may date it, at some point. Maybe some grow into it as they age. Maybe, like all things in this world these days, it will have its day in the sun(set), but commercially, and creatively, Hermes are finding this scent a hard act to replace.

As an amateur I can’t really find the words to describe this perfume so i am just telling my feeling. I was at a friend’s home in a nice spring Sunday , and while we were talking he asked me to let him perfume me , after three hours i was smelling something that i didnt believed it comes from me , the scent lasted for days and i was just addicted to the shirt i was wearing so i asked my friend about it and he told me Terre d’Hermes. This fragrance is a travel in time in a bottle , spring scent for sure , it gives you the a melange of Earth , Trees and imagination. If live is not going good or you want to break routine just wake up in spring sunny day and take a bath , perfume from this and make a coffee and enjoy you sunny day with some music. A perfume like this makes me believe perfumes are not just a scent.

I honestly blind bought this and at first I didn't really care for it. It was interesting for sure, but I got it because people said it was similar to LV Orage. I wore it a couple times, but it felt too confusing. Flint, some sharp or peppery notes with a dry, earthy base. It just didn't seem like my taste. Then something happened! I found myself unexpectedly associating specific things with it, as I remembered what I did the last time I wore it. And so I revisited it a few more times. It was like a switch. I totally understand this one now and why it is a masterpiece. It's the most unique combo of earthiness with freshness. TDH is extremely unique, powerful and has so much character, both vintage and modern. It reassures me throughout the day; very nostalgic, masculine and professional. 10/10

I was able to get a 50ml for $30, and it’s quite possibly the best smelling $30 fragrance I own. I get bright citrus and spices with clean Vetiver and mineral notes that I am assuming comes from the flint. It lasts about 7 hours on my skin and projects at an arms length for the first couple of hours, then it begins its fade into a skin scent. I’ll be wearing this during the day in the spring and summer while I am out doing errands like grocery shopping or at the gym...definitely a must-own for any man 25 and up, especially for $30. 9.3/10 Update: Raising my rating from “Like” to Love” and my overall non-subjective score (😉) from an 8.6 to a 9.3. This has performed wonderfully this summer, especially when it’s below 85°F. This is absolutely a must-own staple.

Smelled it at the airport a year ago, the earthy, mature, woody scent drew me to "This is the kind of man I want to marry!" So comfortable, sexy, reliable, I can imagine growing plants on a weekend in our garden together with him. Smelled it on someone casually two months ago, a young successful businessman, "Damn! You got good taste!" I almost dated him just for the sake of how he represents his spirit. Bought it for the man I love this Christmas, "I am going to have so much sex with you!!"........I mean it! This is a man who is 30+ (mentally), confident, calm, independent, has stability financially. This perfume is not asking for attention, but to Enhance what you already have, it speaks for your "grown-up sexy". Chicks will LOVE YOU.

Ohhh my god, how much I love this scent.. Well first of all, im a sucker for classic / vintage smells. I love Equipage of Hermes, this is in my opinion the more newer / "modern" scent. Even tho Terre EDT leans into that vintage smell, it remains modern but keeps its class. Its fresh, modern, woodsy but is not to powerful. It performs and is good to AAAAAAAAAAAANY occasion. Im wearing it in the summer now and its still good, since some might think it might be to heavy for the summer, it is not. If you need something to go all year around, trust me this is for you. Its versatile and stays true to itself. It can be BB, but try it before you buy since its not for everyone. Hermes, I love you for your Vintage scents, 9/10

This scent IMMEDIATELY puts me into heat the second I smell it, Im almost not kidding. It gives "I'm a capable man who has my life together" and Maybe it will magically transform whoever wears it into exactly that. I dont know All I know is this scent is dangerous. Its nostalgic and crisp. Its orange but like pomander orange not beachy summer citus. And the vetiver and cedar add a warmth that makes it FEEL a little spicy without the actual spice. It literally makes me want to snuggle up into the neck of whoever is wearing it and feel that everything is right in the world. I dont know who at Hermes sold their soul to get the most perfect notes for a mens fragrance ever, but I thank them.

This one is unique and more masculine and more raw power and more muscle this one is The testosterone in a glass. This thing is earthy and citrusy and green and woody it has grapefruit note that i love and this one is on another level even if its 20+ years old i should bought it from before and used it as a signature scent i would ride a black Mercedes s600 w140 while wearing this bad boy up. I dont recommend buying it only if you are tried it before and this one if you wore it at the right time it will give you self confidence. Bottle design:10/10 The smell:10/10 The longevity:9/10 The projection:9/10 The price 7.5/10 Overall:9.1/10

Boys start out with JPG. Men start out with TdH. This was my first bottle of cologne that I purchased when I was 32. I also picked up AdG and those two bottles were all I needed. Some 400 frags in now, and this is still a king. Its what an EDT should be... bright, fresh, and loud! All of the notes are accounted for in the list, they can be distinguished with ease, and they are blended to perfection. Channel #5 probably leads the world in perfume sales and this probably leads it for cologne sales. Everyone should own this fragrance and performance should be compared to this. Its masculine, timeless and a safe blind buy. 9/10

A terrific composition that is both elegant and versatile in terms of seasons and occasions, with 8 hours of longevity and moderate sillage. It's not particularly challenging, but some people will not appreciate this type of mature fragrance that combines bitter Orange and Grapefruit with grassy Vetiver, the spiciness of Black and Pink Pepper, and the minerality of Flint, even if these notes are softened and complimented by the Pelargonium and Benzoin accords. So, as usual, test it before buying it. An abolute classic with enough contrasts and nuances to keep you interested during the whole evolution of the fragrance.

Definitely this has been my best buy so far in 2026, I was tired of the same citrus and fresh perfumes for kids, this fragance screams success and maturity with the smell of a dried orange peel sparkled with brown sugar, this perfume deserves it's status without a doubt.

Timeless, fresh bitter citrus with earthy , dusty vetiver and patchouli base which is slightly sweetened by the benzoin. It is simultaneously old school and modern , and very classy but still easy to wear as a daily fragrance which is what I think makes this so special. It really is an all the time, any place fragrance. Strikes the balance between fresh and dense, modern and vintage and formal and casual. The colors of the packaging and the iconic ad that aired in 2006 really reflect the scent. Excellent composition and blend. A must try for any fragrance lover.

This is what the colour orange and brown smells like. Earthy, woody orange. As a 22 year old I find this on the elegant side. Though this might be hard to wear for some people around my age, I recommend you to try tygar bvlgari it gives you the same vibe but sweeter, almost like an orange candy vibe with much less earthiness, or l'immensite by Lv. The vetiver here reminds me of encre noire by lalique but the overall scent is not the same. The performance is decent, and certainly no complaints on my behalf.

Classic yet still very modern, fresh fragrance. It’s different from the barbershop or soapy blue fragrances. I find the flint note can be a bit sharp in the opening sometimes but it’s never offensive to my nose either. Extremely unique, most fresh fragrances are citrus and woody but this one takes it in the direction of citrus and earthy, I’ve never smelled anything like it before. It is a fairly linear scent. Overall I’d rate it a 9/10 for the scent and a 6.5/10 for the performance

This is definitely a unique scent, you won't smell another scent that is similar to this, even if you do, high chance is it was made by the same perfumer. The smell on test strip is different than on skin, on test strip it's fresher, on skin it's aromatic, earthy, woody. You can smell the citrusy on test strip better than on skin. It is very calming scent to me, smells like oriental ointment though. Definitely don't blind buy this and try it on skin, not just test strips.

This is my daily wearer and I love it, a masculine spicy smell that still has that citrus and floral hint that makes you want to keep smelling. The woody smells mentioned in the main accords don't make themselves known until a few hours after applying, if you're mainly looking for a woody scent I would recommend something like Eau & Cèdre by Issey Miyake instead to avoid disappointment, but if you're looking for a more complex scent give this a try.

My favorite out of all my husband’s colognes. He wore it while we were dating and definitely scored him some points. It always made me want to lean in and get an extra sniff of him. His was purchased about 18 years ago and an empty bottle is all that remains. (I keep it for the scent memories.) I did read there are current issues with longevity, but that was never a problem back when he wore it. I was always able smell it on him all day.

The sharp citrus and mineralic/peppery notes almost give it a citronella bug spray smell but in a pleasant, nostalgic way. Hermes does vetiver like no other in my opinion, and the dry down is where this really shines for me. It’s very classically masculine but still unique enough especially within the citrus freshy space. Really solid performance and longevity, this will stick around on me all day with minimal sprays.

Dirty Orange - Starts out with a bright sweetened Grapefruit and Orange with vetiver/earthy backdrop and a flint (metallic) sting. Dries down to an addicting sweetened earthy orange. Lasts longer than the Parfum by a long shot and smells amazing. EDT (this fragrance) longevity on my skin is at least 6+ hours, Parfum was only about 2 hrs.

Brilliant! Very textured and complex underneath. Ellena excels at textured perfumery. Haven't smelled old version in a while but the current formula is still nice. Built on invisible scaffolding(deceptively simple) that makes the citrus, woods, subtle florals, mineral and green notes float in an airy sophisticated could of scent.

terre d’hermes is one of the perfumes that opened the world of fragrances to me (together with comme des garçons- blackpepper). i hadn’t used much cologne before recently so i still have a beautiful sampler, a small bottle with no atomiser. when i apply it, i have a feeling that some things in life don’t change and that’s good :)

An absolute classic. I enjoy this scent and will always be in my rotation. The perfumers inspiration for this scent was feeling the earth, laying on the ground, gazing up at the sky. Very well done. Been a long time since I’ve smelled this. Now I have 200ml to appreciate with each use.

Citrus dragged through earth. Bitter orange, flint, pepper, and vetiver stripped of sweetness. It smells like confidence that comes from knowing who you are, not proving it. Clean, dry, mineral, and quietly authoritative. This is not a crowd-pleaser. It is a statement that ages well.

Okay so this is not for everyone but I really like it, if you layed down under a pine tree in a summer day this is what this smells like. For sure more of a mature and masculine scent but very unique. In a time that everything is vanilla/amber this stands out as a classic. 9/10

Bitter orange and woods. Beautiful, 10/10 masterpiece. Projects strongly for 2 hours, dries down to a creamy-woody profile. Reminds me of a lemon sorbet served on a wooden bowl. Definitely a mature, masculine scent that makes me happy whenever i get a whiff of it on my clothes.

What we can say about this Masterpiece ? Not only it doesnt smell like every Sweet Modern perfume , its Masculine airy elegant without being over powerd... Like everything in life Time will tell , and time has already said what anyone wanted to know about this MASTERPIECE !!!

This perfume is deeply masculine. The citrus top notes add an elegant and playful quality that prevents it from being too machismo. It projects confidence, resolve, and a balanced character. Or a desire to be seen that way. It depends on the person wearing it.

I love this one. It's just a serious fragrance that works in the office and everywhere else. People take you seriously when you wear this. Orange peel and fresh, sharp, wet forest. This is my default professional fragrance. Personal subjective score: 9/10

I’ve had my bottle since November of 2024. Worn it maybe 5/6 times since. Letting it mature for most of that time has truly turned it into an absolute masterclass of a citrus fragrance. Hermès does citrus better than almost any other perfume house. 10/10

As others have said, it smells like a classy hotel which I really appreciate. Great year-round citrus fresh smell. Grabbed it several times this winter to mix things up and it was great. Less unisex than other citrus options. For middle aged men and up.

I don’t understand why people think this is an ultra masculine polarizing fragrance. To me it is a slightly dirty orange peel safe for the office and daily wear. Probably one of the best valued fragrances on the market. A true timeless masterpiece.

I love the TdH line. The EDT is dry orange and airy woody goodness. It reminds me of being outdoors in the sun. It's not fresh. It does lean mature and I can't say that it's blind-buy safe, but it's one of those perfumes that I can't get enough of.

I went to China and this smells exactly like when you are walking in the woods with oranges in winter. So natural and realistic. Notice i didn't mention anything related to masculinity or sophistication because that belongs to the Parfum version.
