Voyage d'Hermes

How Terre de Hermes became the household name icon and this one never really got the same acclaim, I struggle to understand. I've always found the woody, grapefruit bitter edges in TDH a little difficult to love. I've owned three bottles of it over the years and have always liked it but never loved it in the way so many do. Voyage D'Hermes came out at a similar sort of time and between them were responsible for moving Hermes from haute designer into a fragrance powerhouse in its own right in a mainstream way that was not the case before. TDH got all the flowers and VDH quietly went about its business in the shadow of its more illustrious stablemate. There is something I really like about VDH that isn't a specific note or accord, but the way it feels. But that said, the blending is excellent here. Star of the show is the way the cardamom and citrus (grapefruit?) are intertwined in a way that makes them indivisible to the nose. The citrus in the head notes is enriched with some juniper berries that give this gin and tonic vibes to me. There is a really fine green tea accord in the heart of this that is fresh but a little bit bitter, again reminding me of an afternoon GnT. It is so fresh and sparkly and green. Now, VDH doesnt leap off the skin the way TDH can, and it does sit close to the skin. You get 5-6 hours off it which is respectable and the natty little fold up travel bottle is perfect for keeping on you if you need to top up. I believe the premise of this was to make a superior traveling scent that you can keep in your luggage that smells clean and fresh but won't offend people with brash sillage, but also has a bit of class, sophistication and interest to it. If that was indeed the brief, then Hermes have absolutely smashed it out of the park. I especially enjoy the woodiness in the base that gives it a richness and a little bit of bitter spice on the skin that elevates this tremendously. It is linear, it isnt here to do somersaults on your skin and the drydown moves woodier as it fades but not much else, and that is fine by me. Another thing to note here is that it still smells very, very on point and hasn't aged in the slightest and you cannot say that for TDH in my view. It still sparkles and is still one of the best traveling fragrances I've come across. As alluded to earlier, I'm amazed this wasn't more popular. It is one of those hidden-in-plain-sight unisex gems that gets overlooked and misunderstood and that is a shame because it is absolutely superb. Three Word Summary - The Great Traveller Layering Suggestion: this goes amazingly over Meteore by LV to just shift things into a darker and more complex direction. Outfit suggestion: the good dark blue jeans, white base layer, Moncler polo shirt and slip on hybrid loafers. Cardigan in your bag in case the plane is cold. GMT on the wrist, AirPods in. Scent - 9/10 Sillage - 7/10 Drydown - 6/10 Bottle/packaging - 10/10 Performance - 6/10 38/50 which seems a little harsh to me.

This is so good, but i think they are really having a hard time making it last so they add this little ingredient. The bugspray drydown of Hermes Colognes esp the citrus scent needs this specific ingredient, and the smoky fumes from traffic at the rooftop in Paris in su le toit isnt really meant to be there. They add Petroleum to all their citrus scents to make it last thats why it smells like bug spray and traffic fumes. Update: It took me a long time loving this fragrance, It smells ginger. Its so complex but its simple. Well balanced. If you want to love this fragrance do not use this like a cologne after bath you will not appreciate this. Use this when youre traveling or walking a lot. This really reflects the brand. Simple but elegant. It does not get boring and everytime you get a whiff you get a different note animalic musk to lemon and ginger juice. This is not for everyone. Only for certain people who likes to be unique and smart. If you dress smart and wear this then you certainly are smart and you want to be different than what the crowd wants (*bleu de chanel, terre dhermes, ck one ehem niche cliche). Then they will like this because you are wearing this. This is not a "smell me please! all nose on me!" perfume. The scent is only for the people that is close to you and can get near you. This scent is not douchebaggy like "f*ck me girls i smell good" perfume. This is more like of a directive, young and beautiful/handsome CEO of a design brand or the perfume of the teen sons/daughter of a Hotel Founder. Very animalic on the dry down. Smells like deers balls.

Voyage d’Hermès EDT The first time I smelled it was in the perfume shop; it was on the bottom shelf of the Hermès display. Knowing nothing about it, I picked it up and sprayed twice onto the blotter. I let it air for a moment and then took a sniff. It was a direct hit. The first thing I felt was a sense of well-being, joy, energy. The fragrance is provocative, exciting; it stirs something within you that I would describe as a zest for life, a desire to take the plunge, a sense of movement. It possesses that ‘élan vital’ that I have rarely encountered in other perfumes. It is comforting, fresh, cheerful, playful, almost like a smile, but an adult smile—not sweet, but deep, sophisticated yet light; Jean Claude Ellena created this fragrance to be unisex, even though he doesn’t believe in gender distinctions in perfume, and he achieves this masterfully. The first notes you detect are the citrus notes of a fresh gin and tonic, juniper, and perhaps angelica root; it has that fresh woody quality, of a green forest, of cool, clean citrus, and a beautiful, soft woody base—a noble, calm, soothing wood. It is a perfume for the morning, for spring, for summer; I don’t think it’s a perfume for the heat, it’s a perfume of sunny freshness, of a gentle breeze. It’s a breath of life.

I have sampled nearly a thousand fragrances, and I have owned over 100 at one point. Therefore, one may say I have a thing for fragrances. However...this review isn't about that, because it's about how incredible this particular fragrance is. After sampling it at an airport in New York City, I knew I had to possess it. Because after getting blasted by the spicy freshness this fragrance consists of, it was an obvious winner from Hermes. Even though I have recently become a complete snob when it comes to acquiring another fragrance into my now modest collection, this particular fragrance deserves a spot. Side note: You will receive a fresh spicy blast of something that is a better version of Cartier's Declaration. Although...you won't experience the headaches that come with wearing Cartier's Declaration because this is perfectly balanced. Unfortunately, it might not appeal to everyone when it comes to purchasing it because it is not a projection monster like most people want nowadays. This is a subtle fragrance that remains for a few hours, and I think is still worth the price tag. (This is a swiss army knife fragrance, you can wear this during any season, and during any hour of the day)

Voyage d'Hermes is another masterpiece from the house of Hermès. I feel this unisex fragrance is more suited for men, but could very well see this on a woman. This is my go to for when I just want to smell fresh and clean. It is very well balanced. The citrus opening is typical of say for most of Hermès cologne, but this one also has a blast of cardamom. Now, I wouldn't recommend it for the summer as the cardamom is overwhelming with the heat. It is wonderful though any other time of year, moreso than most other cardamom fragrances. The mid notes are very interesting to me, its a unique mix of spicy oriental, aquatic, and green. I usually am not a fan of outright aquatic or green fragrances, but voyage is really balanced nicely. The dry down then turns into this lovely woody peppercorn essence. The longevity is average, 3-4 hours with probably 6-8 on clothing. Projection could be s bit better. The bottle design is especially cool and plays into the equestrian heritage of the house. The packaging also is dead on with the feeling if the juice. Overall, another winner for Hermès and for those who want a nice, clean everyday fragrance that's unique.

I simply love this fragrance. For one, I love spice, cardamom, tea notes and abstractly woody musky fragrances - which Voyage by Hermès certainly is. I like the idea that the fragrance's flacon design, by the fact that it rotates, is like a compass. A compass across the work of Jean Claude Ellena for the Hermès house. The fragrance opens citrusy and spiced -like finely ground cardamom, over which you lean your nose. I sense angelica or herbal musk similar to it, and a fresh fruitiness from juniper berry. In the middle, leafy green notes, abstract hedion, which can evoke tea, and a musky cedarwood finish. Simplicity is its strength. It belongs equally to everyday moments and to journeys, a sophisticated traveller's scent in an elegant, compact bottle. The fragrance is abstract, letting you choose where you travel. The beautiful drawings by Moebius fit perfectly with this impression. Voyage as navigation into different lands. This review is my tribute to Jean Claude Ellena. Thank you.

People talk about lemon, I don’t know where that comes from. This is spices and absolutely fireplace feelings, and I was terrified I wouldn’t like this one but I ended up loving it a little too much... and on me it just sits like it wants to be glued to me. One spray and it’s sticking to me like it loves me as much as I love it 😂 What I also like about it is that it has a “weird thing” (I’m going to call it weird but it’s really a good thing) that when it’s warm outside it adapts to that and when it’s cold it adapts to that. It’s like it has notes that can fit to whatever it needs to and it brings them out depending on what it needs to. It has a tendency to go towards the male direction but it’s not at all so overwhelming as a lot of male scents are. I couldn’t see a very girly girl wear this but with a more dark and elegant makeup and style this will sit very well. And be ware because this is a head turner, because it is very unique

It's very, very natural. You can smell this penetrating smell from the very beginning. Feel your presence. It is really worth buying. It is fantastic. By putting this perfume on yourself, even if you are depressed, you will get up and start exercising. I mean it makes you feel better

This is - and has been for the past 11 years - my favorite perfume. I always have a backup bottle. Voyage works with any season, any occasion. No matter how you present yourself, this is a perfume that will make you feel distinctively you. It stays close to the skin. It never dominates a room. Yet, it has a clear characteristic that others will pick up on. Even though it has clear notes, it's almost reminiscent of molecular perfumes. It smells like you but better and blends with your body scent effortlessly. Also, the bottle is so stunningly and cleverly designed. It's like unlocking a secret every time I open it.

This is beautiful, my favourite cardamom fragrance. Perfect for when I want a clean fragrance without the citrus in slightly colder weather, when AdP and most citrus are just too light. So understated. This juice makes me think of fresh white linen. Performance is rather weak but to be expected given the composition. Surprisingly, I get better performance from the EDT. Prefer it to the EDP also (which I also really like). If you're thinking about getting the EDP due to performance of the EDT I'd advise to try it first. Great for the office and most daytime occasions, also spring/ summer nights

A fantastic creation by master perfumer JC Ellena, an olfactory journey that transports you through several fragrances created by him. I've already used 3 bottles of this amazing perfume and I'm already wanting to buy another one. Very versatile and elegant, despite having niche perfume facets. Uma criação fantástica do mestre perfumista JC Ellena, uma viagem olfativa que te transporta por diversas fragrâncias criadas por ele. Já usei 3 vidros deste perfume incrível e já estou querendo comprar outro. Muito versátil e elegante, apesar de ter facetas de perfume de nicho.

Hermes Voyage d’ Hermes (2010) - cardamom tea - Im sure most would think of #jeanclaudeellena ‘s creation resembling like a Gin & Tonic, but this refreshing and versatile perfume has more to give to the wearer. First, I don’t get the boozy vibe from a gin&tonic, instead I get a beautiful spicy and floral Cardamom mixed with Lemons and Tea leaves. To supplement the green-accord from this, Mr. Ellena even placed even more green notes and I get a fresh dewy grass smell. Rounded out by Cedar and White musk - really well-made.

Such a great scent, truely unisex without straying too far to either side. It's unique in that it's not offensive, but also very appealing and attractive. Like all other Hermes frags, it stays true throughout without changing dramatically from top to dry-down. I get Cardamom, Ginger, and Tea all the way thru. In a word, this scent is 'sparkling'. In some more words, it's refreshing enough for a bright, sunny day, and warm enough for an evening in. A classic.

Jean-Claude Ellena's Voyage edt starts off as the perfect gin martini (fresh juniper) transitioning into the ultimate clean scent all without an overdose of citruses or aldehydes. I find this fragrance to be a meditative exercise in quiet sophistication. The vibes are that of yachting on the Med with an inspiring gin cocktail as your constant companion while still being able to maintain your morning pilates routine.🍸🤸

There is something so Hermès about it Smells like a put together, quiet luxury woman. Very uplifting and fresh, well blended and “zen”. Somehow, this perfume reminds me of Bali and its gardens, along with its sounds and balinese magical landscapes. I dont know why. Soft sillage and long lasting power. If you want to smell put together and not overwhelming, go for it.

What comes to mind? A tailor made white shirt, designer shades, freshly washed hair that dried in the summer wind. It is elegant, clean cut scent. Minimalism and high quality. Voyage gives me good vibes, makes me feel content and puts a smile on my face, even if it's cold outside. Still manages to transfer me to a beautiful place, where the sun always shines.

I get lemons, gin, and tonic, with a bit of tea and subdued creaminess. A lot better than the sweeter EdP which has a heavy cardamom accord and is closer to Blue Noir more than anything else. This one is airy, tranquil and gentle and has small traits of Angelique's Sous La Pluie and Armani Eau de Cedre. It's lovely and I enjoy wearing it.

I simply love the smell of this fragrance. It’s so fresh and natural in a way that it really makes sense to its name. Sadly, this amazing voyage doesn’t last long and you can’t feel anything after 2 hours (maybe less) and this is so disappointing even for a citrusy fresh fragrance in a way it brakes my heart, cos I really love the smell.

Personally I'm in love with this scent--I was surprised so many votes have it as a summer scent since I felt like the spices in the citrus opening made it perfect for fall/winter. What it really reminded me of was late fall bridging on winter? It's funny because it feels a little warm but is still very citrusy. It just smells right to me

If I could only wear one fragrance this is it. So fresh with juniper and delicious with airy cardamom, there is just a hint of wood to ground it. a masterful blend, so lovely, always the right choice, always appropriate. My city friends tell me I smell like fresh country air, yes that's what it is, "fresh country air"

Sweet, fresh, woody and sophisticated without smelling complicated or uptight. Very like Acqua di Parma Ginepro di Sardegna but not quite as long lasting. Very unisex, and a great summer weather fragrance that doesn't smell like sunscreen. It's the scent of dry woods warmed by the summer sun carried on a salt breeze.

This, simply, smells divine. Nothing more, nothing less, it is just a beautiful smell. Its understated, in the most Hermes way. I want my clothes to smell like this, I want to smell like this, I want people to smell this on me. If refined, considered, low-key, impeccable taste had a smell, it would be this. Love.

This is a masterpiece, it is obviously a JC Ellena creation, you can't miss that. It has that twist at the end of the ...sniff. I always think that twist is his signature. The dry down brings to mind un jardin en mediteranee, only better. It is fresh, green, of course citrusy, with a bittersweet aftertaste.

I have been wanting to try this for years and finally got to put my nose on it today at Saks 5th Ave. I love the sharp citrus opening. This is clearly related to Terre D Hermes but with more citrus and spice. I have Terre D Hermes, and Declaration, and will need to add this to the collection as well.

I applied this on skin at the local chemist, smelled it and thought «what a beautiful spicy ginger this is» and then i got on the bus and decided to open fragrantica, little did i know theres no ginger notes listed.. lol Anyways, its a great scent, will probably get a bottle for the summer

First smelled this about 8-10 years ago at the beginning of my frag journey. Blew me away back then and have nothing but positive memories with it. Such a natural, high class smelling fresh fragrance. Very unique compared to what comes out today. One of the most underrated freshies ever.

I mistakenly bought the eau de parfum after testing the EDT, and they are completely different. Everything that makes this fragrance so great—its lightness, discretion, subtlety, and freshness—is lost in the EDP. The addition of rose and amber only serves to clutter it unnecessarily.

it simply smells like a cruising the Atlantic on a boat and that cardamom makes it unique having both, edt for spring/summer, parfum version for fall/winter simply J.C. Ellena signature style - transparent, airy freshie but with Hermes timeless elegance.

Smells great, lasts for few hours but projection is intimate. That's why i graded it as overpriced though i love the smell. It is really good smelling. I may buy iso e super spray for this one. Will surely get the Eau De Parfum version.

this is my favorite artist's favorite perfume. he would always wear this so thanks to him, i wear it on days i need a bit of luck and encouragement. from the first time i smelled it, it felt comforting like a warm hug. i love you KJH 🩵

Made by same perfumer who created declaration, probably that's why So many reviwers think it is very close to declaration. This came in 2010 while declaration was released in 1998. I haven't tried this but declaration is ❤️ for me.

Voyage d'Hermes begins with a blast of citrus, persists with a veil of warm spices, and ends with a delicate sprinkle of tea and flowers. So unique, so sophisticated! It makes me feel adventurous and ready to take on a challenge!

I tried this again today at a store. I used to have this perfume and it brought back good memories, Such an excellent perfume. Lovely. Too bad it completely disappeared on my skin. You could not smell it. Still, I love it.

Lovely perfume, lasts about 8 hours on my skin. Quite unique and a much more pleasant version of Terre d'Hermes. If you like this, you should try Dior Homme 2020: a much more rounded and addictive scent than Voyage, IMO.

I bought mine a few days ago and i didn't know why i picked this scent. After a while i got it. The cozy whool scent how it performed on my skin with some citrus and cardamon. Sooo soft .. lovely and nostalgic <3

A creamy lemon and grapefruit that smells rather Mediterranean to me. Cardamom adds some wamth. Reminds me of being on vacation. Perhaps that's why it's called "Voyage." Clever title, nice fragrance.

EDT > EDP I sampled both today, and the edt was both superior in sillage and skin scent, even after I washed my hands! Wow, this is a beauty! Can't wait until my next payday!

A lot of cloves-esqueness to my nose, which is probably caused by the cardamom or "spices". It's very spicy, but actually in a pretty good way. It's unique and luxurious.

One of my favorite frag .I have a bottle from 2010 50% full .long lasting all day . Smells better than Declaration .Declaration is more spicy. This juice is more fresh .
