Amberbee

I basically live in Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume Superdose, and generally love the JHAG range, so Hermetica as a molecular brand definitely grabbed me (Escentric Molecules is another one). I'm a sucker for a niche perfume, and love the chemistry of a good molecular focused perfume. They're like science experiments for me. I got a small sample of Amberbee with a recent beauty purchase from Adore Beauty, and it was a matter of days before I'd invested in the full bottle and 2 additional discovery sets. The amber note is definitely there and draws similarity to my fave Not A Perfume Superdose, but Amberbee offers something slightly warmer. Slightly more sensual where Not A Perfume is fresh and clean. There's this honey/vanilla tone to it, without being what I'd call 'sweet'. It smells luxurious. In love.

Now this is amazing, and it wasn't when i first sprayed it on. This is a fruitti powdery amber with cute pineapples, and juicy sour star fruit. It has a tropical touch added to it with a sweet watery lime (not a lemon daiquiri). I wasn't surprised when i first sprayed this but now after it settled it just went amazingly beautiful with that tropical watery moist fruit and touch of powder. Be aware, it's not that ambery blend that you got used it, this has the least amber that you can witness. Beautiful.

Instantly reminded me of the Between Us perfume from one direction. Not a bad thing, I really like the smell. With all the reviews here I'm so confused if I'm smelling the same thing lol I don't get fruity at all, definitely powdery and Amber, and I could see also the comparison to flowerbomb. The price is fine for this I think, I'd consider a full bottle. I think it smells better than flowerbomb but that between us perfume is still a grail for me.

My favorite of the discovery kit! I will buy this one day for sure. It is a sweet, ambery, sophisticated, honey-powedery fragrance but freshened by the citrus hint. Almost edible and not offensive or too intense. I could see myself wearing this in the office or at night layered with something, or even by itself. Sweet, but sexy and sophisticated and so so unique. Love this. 10/10

I am loving this!!! On me it's like lightly sweetened baby powder. Very easy to wear, and could be a really easy mindless reach. Very "feminine". I can see why people would think this reminds them of "Flowerbomb": it's in a similar vein, but airy (and doesn't smack you over the head, lol). I am trying this on a mild winter day, but I think it would be amazing in the summer!

better than half of the PDM line, i 100% recommend for both genders.

Amberbee is my first proper sampling of Hermetica since acquiring its nicely-presented, full sample set from Perfumology. Amberbee is an easy winner and a solid introductory amber fragrance. Its name is apropros as it’s a bright, honeyed amber, including bright bergamot, vanilla, and woods. It feels relatively simple and accessible. It’s unusually loud—flirting with being biting, almost—at its opening, but then dries down to being more modest. Unsurprisingly, the bergamot, which fosters are more honeyed vibe, is more prominent in the opening, and the vanilla comes out more in the dry down. It’s a nice offering and the pricing for the line is not unreasonable, at $195 for 100ml / $135 for 50ml (the same for every fragrance), but Amberbee does not offer the depth and complexity that I usually enjoy most in amber/resinous fragrances, and while some criticisms I’ve seen of its simplicity are a bit overzealous, it’s not what I’d personally look for in my next amber fragrance, but it certainly would’ve done well as my first amber fragrance. As a side note, Amberbee vaguely reminds me of Bath and Body Works Sensual Amber but without the fruit. I’d definitely encourage interested fragheads to order a sample of this individual on Perfumology or, better yet, opt for the nicely-priced $35 sample pack of all 13 fragrances. 7 out of 10

Within the first few minutes of spraying, there is something reminiscent of saliva smell. Not sure if it’s the bergamot combined with the powder notes or the amber, but it’s definitely there. It’s not unpleasant, more so an observation and I find myself wildly swinging back and forth between loving the fragrance as a whole then hating it for smelling like spit. Also it is crazy sweet on my skin. Once settled though, it had transformed into a gorgeous warm and cozy amber. The sweetness is no longer overtaking. Surprisingly very reminiscent of one of my absolute favourites - Venetian Bergamot by Tom Ford. After testing it in my wrist and almost writing it off, I will test it with a full days wear to see how it stacks up against Venetian Bergamot. EDIT - after a full days wear, I’ve changed my mind a little. On first spray it seemed a little less “saliva” -esque and not as sweet. Although it still has some similarities to Venetian Bergamot, it a unique fragrance in its own right and is a lot more ambery as true to its name. Lovely to wear, deep and smooth. Got a decent 5-7 hours out of it. I still prefer VB though for my taste and for the incredible longevity.

Amberbee is warm and sweet without being spicy. the wood brings depth without heating it up to the status of wintertime coziness, and unlike many warm sweet frags, I don't find it particularly candle-ish. resins react strongly with my skin, but so far Amberbee has stayed pretty bound-up-tight and the amber hasn't taken over. it has a strong projection, and seems very likeable- i like it myself, but don't find it quite unique enough to consider buying a full size. edit: an hour later, Amberbee has reduced down to a VERY sweet, VERY french vanilla scented candle-ish scent

Whilst Amberbee isn't exceptional to me, it's a lovely and light scent that I have a hard time disliking. It feels like a great spring scent, and really gives that soft crisp honey smell. On it's own it's pretty underwhelming, and not too powerful, but I have a feeling this would be great to layer. I haven't tried it yet, but I feel it's powdery and soft notes could sing with another perfume. I'm not sure I would buy an entire bottle for it though.

5/4/25 Update: Put this on after evening shower and felt so comforted. It is totally signature scent worthy. Great for any time or occasion. I like this fragrance. When I first sprayed it, this woody amber fragrance reminded me of Mugler's Alien. The DNA is very similar at first. As it dries down it holds onto it's amber quality while it becomes more powdery. Amberbee does not feel warm and sweet, as I was expecting from the name. It seems to be more fresh and feminine.

Sweet, powdery, honey amber. But, oddly, very fresh at the same time. This smells exactly like Golden Ocean Pearl lotion by BBW. I've layered them together several times and love the outcome. It smells a little retro, which with the amber feels nostalgic to me. But I do think a full bottle is overpriced.

This one is simple, comforting and delicious. It's ambery goodness comes through in about 10 min of dry down. It smells like honey (still cannot believe they don't list honey note there), in the best possible way. For me - it's a lovely and delicious, summer day amber scent. Easy to wear and comforting.

Some note in it smells familiar yet it’s so unique and complex at the same time. It’s classy and intoxicating. One of my favorite in my collection. Beautiful and long lasting.

I decided to finally get around to wearing my sample of Amberbee when I saw fragrancebuy had a few Hermtica fragrances for a seemingly good price. It's a house I haven't tried yet and I was curious. I heard they were alcohol free and "skin nourishing", so I was a bit curious. I got the sample originally because the fragrance name intrigued me. I was imagining a honeyed amber...that's not what I got. It is a very dry, powdery amber on my skin. There is very little sweetness. I assumed it was named AmberBEE because there was a honey note, I was wrong. It's just a cute name. The opening is promising. It's all amber with the bright, freshness of the bergamot. As it settles on the skin the bergamot disappears and the amber becomes a bit spicy and very, very dry. I even feels a bit dusty. It also smells like there is something missing. I smells empty. I have had this same experience with Juliette Has A Gun fragrances, even the ones that smell nice, smell like there is part of the composition missing. That's what happens to me here. It's either a fragrance that smells unfinished or I am completely nose-blind to something in their composition. That is what I think is the issue is. Hermetica also seems to be a molecule house, so I am curious if they (like JHAG) use a chemical that I just can't smell. What I can smell of Amberbee is pleasant, but it's bland, boring and one-note, so not soemthing I am interested in purchasing. The performance is not great, but OK. It lasts about 3-4 hours on skin with light projection. I find it stays well within arms reach. I found it to be a pretty unisex fragrance that could be worn all year. After my expeirence with this fragrance and another molucule house that just doesn't seem to work for me, I know to test Hermetica fragrances before buying. I am a pretty brazen blind buyer, but I do pay attention to houses and notes that are troublesome to me. I will tread cautiously with those that have burned me.

To me it reminds me of going to the library with a big coat on and opening a dusty book. It’s warm, inviting, but has a background of a dry spice. There is a note in here I don’t love, but I’m not sure which. It’s not quite girly enough for me but I could see someone a little older and more sophisticated liking it. I imagine an English Professor at an Ivy League would wear this, if that makes sense.

A very citrusy amber, like a lemon dipped in honey with amber. The sweetness is similar to that in khaltat night, giving cinnamon vibes.

Powdery, amberous lemon. Same lemon as , and equally linear. Meh but not bad. Just falls short of a 🙂.

I tend to think that perfumers who go headlong into this whole "synthetic plus natural" mixture are never quite sure what to do with it. Amberbee seems to fall victim to this problem, having some nice depth, but limited complexity and certainly a lack of charm. Oh, you've got some soft, tasty wood molecules? What the hell is a wood molecule? I have a pretty minimal understanding of organic chemistry, so I'm thinking more that it's just marketing mumbo-jumbo. To me, it smells peppery, but I'm not really getting the brightness from bergamot, rather it's more of a woody, leather smell, as others have also written. I would say that the synthetic "amber" in this is miles away from, say, cetalox (Juliet Has A Gun), which to me smells much more human, if that makes sense-- this synthetic is, rather, more spicy, pointy. Amberbee is thus a thoroughly postmodern fragrance, vainly searching for meaning in a complex, fragmented industry and world. I am being a hater but I actually don't hate the fragrance. It's not unpleasant-- which I would say for Sexy Garrigue, of which this reminds me. I am really glad I have tried it, though!

The first thing I noticed was sweetness, in a fruity honey type of way, and something like sweet orange. It feels very warm. I’ve sampled a number of different Hermetica fragrances recently, and this was the first time I've smelt one of their perfumes and picked up that subtle Hermetica DNA. I don't have the fragrance vocab to describe it though. After sitting on my skin for a little longer, there's a slight powdery feeling to it. I don’t mind it, but it's a little too sweet for me and I didn't enjoy it enough to consider sampling again.

I tried a decant of this over a year ago, let it sit untouched in my closet, and tried it again today. While I do smell the powdery 90s amber potential in Amberbee, mostly what I smell is....acetone. It’s very sour.

I really wanted to like this. It reminds me of sweet honey. It's warm and cozy and... it makes me want to vomit. While I think I like the scent, something about it makes me incredibly nauseous. I just can't.

It smells like all other Hermetica samples from the discovery kit. Everywhere is either wood or amber or bergamot, smell one and you know how all others smell. Most boring fragrance line I have ever smelled.

If you like super sweet honey type of scents this one could be for you. For me it was way to sweet, so sweet it made me gag. I couldn't get it off fast enough.

I picked this up on a recommendation, since I usually like bergamot and woody scents. Sadly, Amberbee *really* doesn’t work for me. On a young teen, I can imagine it would be fun. On my skin, it’s cloyingly sweet with enormous silage. With just one drop - not even a full spritz - I smelled like I’d suffered a terrible candy accident at Willy Wonka’s factory. Worse, my kids started sneezing as soon as I entered the room. I couldn’t wash it off and traces of it remained the next morning.

• Bought it as a sample, because of honey note that listed in a remember list in a Ginestet botrytis. • Even in a name Amberbee there is a bee. • But this scent to me is something in a middle between Vanhera and Dionisio because of bergamote, fresh spicy, woody and musky notes.

This perfume smells exactly like Prada Candy and JC Viva La Juicy Gold Couture had a baby! It's super sweet and powdery at the same time. I think it's a really nice scent, it's probably not worth paying full price for but if you can find it on sale then it'd be a great buy.

This has the similar sandy type of note I noticed in a lot Memo Paris perfumes. It’s very strong in Italian Leather and almost renders it unwearable. Here it’s bearable, it’s Amber and woody with good lasting power

The initial blast is wonderful smells like a pleasant amber scent but as it dries down it smells like a fragrance I very much hate parfums de Marley Pegasus Pegasus

Warm, syrupy and cloyingly sweet. I don't get any powdery notes. I couldn't wear this for a whole day i feel ill after a few minutes of smelling it.

Basic amber of a good quality. Longlasting. This layers beautifully with oud, tried layering with Fragrance su bois NY 5th avenue, very nice ❤️

I am in agreement with the ecstatic review, fruity honey..and wine? if you have never smelled botrytis, this is a pretty decent dupe.
