Vaninight

That's hot.. It really is a sexy, dark mysterious fragrance. I think it's perfect for all occasions. I imagine a confident and quiet woman who exudes sensuality wearing this. It is unisex and I can imagine a man wearing this too. I get the 3 notes; almond oil, jasmine flower and vanilla. It is blended so well. The almond oil and Vanilla is super sweet, but without looking at the notes it smells somewhat woody too, adding the mysteriousness. An ad came up of an outfit on the screen of a ribbed bodycon beige dress and matching cardigan; I can definitely see the confident woman wearing this with great posture. The dress is figure hugging but coupled with the cardigan the arms are covered making it more sexy and mysterious; like she's not trying to impress or get attention, she's just a quiet bombshell and knows it. This woman is sure of herself. A very beautiful, individual and unforgettable fragrance. I don't know if it's the drawing accompanied with the fragrance, but it smells a little old school but in the best way. Not a sickeningly sweet teenage fragrance, it's natural and sensual. Definitely one to wear in bed as well as all occasions, and especially for a close encounter with your significant other.

I am not a vanilla person but to me, this is the perfect vanilla! It leaves me with the impression of a dry & light vs wet & heavy vanilla that develops into beeswax and leather. The leather note isn't masculine but evokes horse tack. I used to own horses and this brings me back to my love for riding. I will definitely be buying this one ♥

Smells like pure vanilla untainted by sugar or cream, with a hint of spice, and oddly a note reminiscent of pencil shavings but in the best way possible. Only sampled on my wrist but very worthy of a proper testing. EDIT: Turns to a close skin scent pretty quickly which is a shame, still a beautiful fragrance though!

A lovely, sexy vanilla amber! Perfect for cold weather. On me, it smells mysterious and unique-- dark academia vibes almost!

The best fragrance in the world, period.

Vaninight from Hermetica is a very accessible but multifaceted vanilla fragrance, with an overall vanilla/amber feel but with interesting touches: jasmine, saffron, leather, almond, and cinnamon per the notes list. To some extent, I can see how most of these would contribute. I get more almond and leather than jasmine, cinnamon, and saffron. It’s not too spicy or herbal but has that vague sort of sharp nuttiness than almond usually provides. So Vaninight is not a particularly boozy or floral, but rather, leans into a nutty, resinous direction while still being vanilla dominant. Moreover, it’s smooth and very easy to wear, not slightly screechy even during what has been a fairly consistently loud opening for each Hermetica fragrance I’ve tried (with its characteristic sharp and bright Source1 DNA coming out in part during the opening phase). It’s a good performer, as well, probably on par with the better offerings in the line—good but not outstanding. Even with my love for vanilla, though, Vaninight is probably just a “like” and not a “love” for me. Surely it has more depth than a fairly inexpensive vanilla fragrance, even a great one, like Perry Ellis Oud Black Vanilla Absolute, but at several times the cost, as Vaninight has the standard Hermetica pricing of $195 for 100ml / $135 for 50ml vs. the Perry Ellis at (often) $60 or less, sometime as low as $30, for its standard 100ml bottle size. As with most of Hermetica’s line, though, I feel that Vaninight could be a big winner and versatile option for many, and the line’s pricing isn’t wholly disqualifying. Vanilla fans should certainly seek this out. 7 out of 10

This is, simply.. divine, and i can't go to sleep without it. Yes it's vanilla but this is not your basic bitch in a hoodie and torn denim shorts having her vanilla cake from the neighbourhood cafe. This is a mysterious rich bitch wearing haute couture (almost) in a hat and veil, manicured emerald green nails in clutching a gold fork to dispense bites of a twenty dollar slice of vanilla cake handmade by artisanal patisseries into her blood red lips. She has a low, smoky voice and speaks softly, but you listen when she speaks, for that voice is intoxicating. Same for Vaninight - it is rich, murky and full-bodied as the sound of a cello. The sugariness is held down by what smells like expensive leather - when i bury my head into a ten thousand dollar Hermes bag. The projection is so so sad - what projection? But how can i resist this. As such, almost half the bottle is gone after a month's use.

This an elegant, grown woman vanilla. A tad generic, a tad classy. More complex than you would imagine based on the 3 notes listed on Fragrantica. But at the same time pretty linear, which I like. It is not a pure vanilla nor it is gourmand. It is equal parts of amber, vanilla, maybe even tonka. A touch of spices, resins and perhaps some faint floral. It reminds of too many other similar perfumes. But it is still nice, complex, resinous, warm scent. It is good and cozy for autumn weather. Performance is pretty good, but not very impressive. Update: got bored, will not keep my decant.

Leathery gourmand. Oh My... this is one of the prettiest leather blend i have witnessed in a long time! Fruitti leather with jasmines and sweet vanilla that can't be detected directly. It's moist and fruitti, yet floral and leathery. The combination is wierd and very amusing. I really enjoy this blends specially when they are settled down, they transform into something calming and very balanced. Beautiful.

Smells so good like one of my favourite ‘Magnificent Gold’. They smell almost identical like 98% but Magnificent gold is just chefs kiss, it has something more to it!! Seriously don’t need both!

Powdery vanilla and candied amber. Smooth, harmonious blend. Take it or leave it, love it or hate it. Another linear scent, done right. VG 🙂

It reminds me of Lira without the lemon part. And layered with Source1 - Lira it is!

I am glad I decided to resample this (wearing it right now) before investing in a full bottle. The leather note in there smells out of place to my nose in the dry down. Plus throughout the day I kept thinking there is nothing special about this. It is just "nice". This has been the problem that I have had w/ vanilla scents my whole life, it's "nice" but..... Most vanilla's fall flat for me. I own 2 vanilla's in my collection and the second one I just got because it was a flash sale and I will probably gift it (haven't opened it yet). The only vanilla that doesn't fall flat for me is Henry Rose's Dark is Night. If you like soft vanilla scents w/ almond and a leathery dry down give this one a try. While I find it a nice pleasant scent it is a no for me on a full bottle.

I have been a sampling junkie since COVID started and have enjoyed the journey. After I selected what fragrances I wanted to buy I passed most of samples on to other friends and family. It was interesting to find out what they loved and what they decided to buy. It also helped me in my Christmas shopping. Anyway, I got the Hermetica discovery set and this fragrance was my favorite of the bunch. I kept this sample for myself and did not pass it on. It is a soft, floral, vanilla scent that has a powdery almond note. I may invest in a full bottle.

At first application, it's pretty mild, and doesn't really smell of anything. As it develops, there's definitely something in there that smells of oven cleaner or something like that (as mentioned below)! It's almost like the saffron/leather from "Verticaloud" is here, but totally unbalanced/poorly mixed. The drydown is very nice, because that weird note has faded away, and it's just soft, powdery vanilla remaining. Definitely one to try before buying!

Of the samples in Hermetica's discovery set of 13, so far this has been the most disappointing. It's quite boring on it's own, not full bottle worthy, but I'm intrigued by the prospect of using it for layering. As with all of Hermetica's fragrances, it does seem to play nicely w/the rest from their house. Haven't tried it w/Source1 as a base yet though.

Together with Lavincense, this is the one that's worth mentioning from the series. Yes, it's a classic warm and cozy vanilla amber theme, but it has such an interesting sexy aura that it's really worth trying as unisex. I'm a bit old for this theme though, it's very young and playful

Tried this out of the discovery set (3rd one down) and don't mind it. It's a bit too soft/vanilla for me, but it's inoffensive and pretty. It's mostly vanilla and mild amber to me. Nothing spesh.

I’m a discovery set junkie. My latest acquisition is the deluxe sample set of 13 from Hermetica. Since I love vanilla I tried this one first, Vaninight and I’m not won over. I like Q80’s review, so taking his advice, I resisted the urge to wash it off. But even after a couple hours, I’m not convinced. Throughout I do get gourmand vibes— vanilla, light spices— but there’s also an “off” smell. I realize it’s my chemistry, and it’s possible that the saffron note is causing the problem, but it’s not enjoyable. Lastly, I read that there’s no alcohol in the formula. Interestingly my arm felt like it was on fire where I sprayed, and contributed to my negative experience. I’m hoping it’s not a precursor to what’s to come. Vaninight.... it’s like freshly baked cookies in an oven that has just been cleaned and hasn’t had time to gas off.

Something isn't right here. It almost smells like melon or something watery. Some spice, it's supposed to be leather but I'm not getting that at all. Not at all what I would have expected reading the notes, or considering the name of this one. If you are looking for an ambery dark vanilla I'd sample this first - you may not get it!

Smelled similar to the Viktor&Rolf vanilla layering oil but not as good. I'm not the biggest fan of this one, low sillage and it also has like a strange lingering scent in it, like pencil lead or some sort of Italian spice...

The amber in this smells like leather to me. It is very unappealing on my skin but it would be okay for men in my opinion.

sometimes in vanilla frags i notice a graphite smell, and vaninight falls into that category. I can smell the sweet powderiness of the thing, but to my nose, it's all a little obscured by a bizarre, sour, briny note, like if you piped a little vanilla ice-cream into the center of a kalamata olive. after a few minutes, this calms down into the basic vanilla that others are describing, but at first spritz it is way weirder than that.

A fatty, buttery, almond-and-vanilla fragrance with a hint of something darker in the base. Unfortunately it veers a little cloying and there's one note in this that's juuust sweet and sour enough to turn a bit sickly / "off", but that could just be my skin chemistry. Someone mentioned the word "moist" for this one and that feels about right - there's nothing dry in this. It's not for me, but it's not bad.

I was really hoping for a leathery vanilla blend like the other reviewers got, but instead this is a light, slightly tart floral almond vanilla on me. It's not gourmand, but is very soft, pretty, warm and almost but not quite powdery,what I would call a bed time scent. If I didn't already own Sylvaine Delacourte's Florentina, I would be buying this one. Tart light vanilla comfort.

I use this as a fixture to layer under my perfume to make it last longer. I used this with Atelier Vanille Insensee and my perfume was going strong for 10 hours! Atelier normally becomes a skin scent in 5 minutes so this was incredible! I didn't feel it altered the scent of the perfume but paired perfectly with it.

At the beginning you feel this minty smell, as if the leather is mint. Then it becomes a little bit soapy-stallatic.
