I really enjoy this!! I get a really fresh, sweet, cold, almost wet vanilla. It even verges into aromatic territory. It's not a thick or syrupy vanilla like most gourmands - you could absolutely wear this in the summertime. I'm not getting a typical goopy caramel but rather the faintest background of bright, caramel-like sugary sweetness. It's almost like a dash of cotton candy but not childish by any means. It's a really nice base for the vanilla to shine over. This is one of the more unique vanillas I've tried, and I'd consider buying a larger decant. Definitely worth trying if you like vanillas.

I really like this one! It smells like a waffle cone that's loaded with vanilla ice cream and heavily drizzled in caramel sauce. Longevity is decent but projection is pretty close to the skin. I don't even care. It's so warm and comforting. Sweet without being cloying. Such a great caramel and vanilla scent. It doesn't beat Kyse Doucer Brûlée though. I wouldn't repurchase for that reason.

my actual first thought the first time i tested this out was that if angels wore perfume, this is what they would wear. its a light, powdery, airy, clean vanilla with just the tiniest background of florals. something about it just feels like floating. truly delightful. the staying power is pretty good, it lasts a full 8 hrs on my skin. will definitely be getting a full size bottle

Creamy, toasty vanilla. And on me, it lasted forever. I put it on around 9am, and I could still smell it when I woke up the next morning. I'm getting a full bottle.

SOTD: sampling one of the more recent releases from Hilde Soliani, the queen of gourmands, Avatar, with notes of caramel, sugar, milk, and biscuits, and I definitely enjoy it. There’s a DNA that reminds me of other Hilde Soliani gourmand offerings and it’s an especially good nod to fans of caramel, which I believe to be the most prominent note in the mix, followed by biscuits. So it’s caramel and bread, delightfully done, not too dense or rich to be off-putting, which is why I find it one of the more accessible gourmand releases in recent time. Available exclusively in the US at Luckyscent and the standard pricing of $160 for 100ml, Avatar, like other Hilde Soliani fragrances, is a good deal. The only problem with her extensive, delicious catalogue is choosing which to buy first, but I definitely recommend trying them all, as even non-gourmand fans can plausible find something that they like. My favorite of hers remains Buonissimo, the Luckyscent 15th anniversary exclusive that smells of cocoa-dusted buttery croissants. 7 out of 10

I experienced this as very similar to Vanille Abricot by Comptoir Sud Pacifique. You might as well go with that one for a youthful apricot fruity Wunderbaum sweetness with a tiny hint of cough syrup. Somewhat similar as well to a Profumum Roma scent, namely Dulcis in Fundo. And yeah, a bit like Pink Sugar I guess, but no burnt sugar notes and more subdued. If you like this kind of perfume there are better alternatives to explore like the ones mentioned above. Hilde Soliani has way better gourmands to offer, like Vani Choc (my absolutely favourite vanilla with lemon) and Sweet Home, Buonissimo and Il Tempo Delle.

fun scent... very comforting... it almost smells squishy, like the gummy freezer burn from freezing microwaved vanilla ice cream. i like to wear it before i go to sleep. prob not worth a full bottle unless you want a vanilla lactonic perfume to layer with more developed ones. pleasant, very sugary sweet. what i picture when i think "vanilla gourmand." weak sillage and longevity :/

I'm a little disappointed in this one. Avatar smells less like an ice cream shop and more like someone just squeezed sunscreen all over a tub of ice cream. It doesn't smell very edible. I get mostly sweet sunscreen on my skin. It's not bad but definitely not what I imagined based on the notes.

In the drydown is so similar smelling as Lira in the paper

Definitely agree with one of the reviews below that this totally smells like vanilla sunscreen. I am not sure which note lends to the sunscreen element– I want to say it is some sort of clash between the caramel and ice cream note, but I am sort of at a loss. I really was intent on convincing myself to enjoy this and believe that the sunscreen note would eventually grow on me and attach itself to a positive scent memory, but I, unfortunately, don't think I could do it. It also sort of smells like vanilla Carmex chapstick, except without the mentholated scent (which IMO would make Avatar more interesting). I may try it in different weather and give it another shot, but so far, this is one of the weakest scents I've tried from HS.

Well, it’s a perfume 🙂 It’s very sweet, and that’s about it. I wouldn’t even describe this as a vanilla fragrance, just a sweet one. A bit pricey for what it is.

Very weak vanilla sunscreen scent with an alcohol heavy opening. Very little projection or longevity. Disappointing compared to Hilde's other fragrances. 2/10

I was excited about this one, but I find that the vanilla ice cream elements is overshadowed by the freezer smell that I don't care for. At least it disappeared quickly.

Smells like hairspray. The other notes are there, but I can't get past the hairspray.

Absolutely does resemble Pink Sugar or Soft. Both of which I like, this is better. Smoother, more refined and mega powdery. Like a cup of icing sugar was dowsed over a pink sugar spill. Very strong projection on this one. I have outgrown Pink Sugar now because I wore it and MORs marshmallow as 2 of my signature scents as a tween but if my nose wasn't so familiar with this DNA I think I would fall head over heels for this. This is beautiful if you still love Pink Sugar and want it less cloyingly sweet and more grown up and Soft with a less pronounced lemon scent. I can still smell Hildes DNA in this somehow. I am really really loving her work.

Yum yum! Ice cream. This was a sample sent to me after I purchased the custom perfume fitting from LS. I never would have thought to try this scent on my own. Now I'm going to have to get a whole bunch of other samples from Hilde Soliani because gourmands seem to be her thing. This is delectable. Like a bowl of vanilla ice cream being eaten while lounging in a fluffy bubble bath.

I smell vanilla ice cream and a cold, refrigerated element. I like this a lot, especially that refrigerated part, but it’s still a little too sweet for exactly what I’m looking for. Well done though. Projection was several feet away for about the first thirty minutes and longevity was several hours from a dab-on sample bottle.

I thought the notes sounded amazing and I love Hilde but this to me smells like vanilla mixed with sunscreen. Also a little baby powderish. I don’t get any of the icecream cold type of scent. I’d say definitely intimate skin scent as well so not was I was hoping for. Also I can definitely get the pink sugar connection!
