Latte Freddo

This is a very unique scent, in a good way. How do you smell ice? Well, I can't explain the aroma chemicals. However, anyone who knows the smell of stepping outside after a heavy snowfall, or a glass of milk with ice, will understand the additional note and how it adds a layer to this little work of art. It is more of a cream than a sweetened condensed milk, making it light, sweet. and comforting. I would not recommend wearing this in hot weather, it takes on a floral freezer burnt note. But in winter and fall it stays creamy and beautiful.

A fun scent, but also ethereal and unbelievable. I sampled about 20+ scents in Scent Bar DTLA a few days ago and walked away with a sample of this one. I could not believe how photorealistic it smelled, but now can’t believe how good it would smell on me. Slightly sweetened milk, but I get some warm citrus and even coconut. Will definitely be gifting myself with a full bottle. This is lovely. This is also perfect for layering! Now I can give all my favorites a milky touch!

Although it lists ice as one of its notes, this fragrance captures the pure essence of freshly warmed milk ready to be enjoyed in your tea or coffee. It presents a simpler and more authentic milk scent than the buttery, salty notes of Lait Concentré by Chabaud which may seem quite similar

Sends me directly to a beach in Greece on a sunny summer morning, "freddo latte gliko parakalo", the only care is what's next in my book and the dress for tonight. Life is good. The perfume literally smells like a very sweet latte freddo with good milk, love it.

Somewhere in the middle of salted caramel ice cream and buttered popcorn jelly beans. Because it's so linear it might smell pretty cheap to some noses, like a salted caramel body spray from Target, but somehow it's still really charming and compelling.

I don’t get much of the ice note but this to me is a slightly less sweet version of lait concentre. It’s lightly sweet like condensed milk with just a very very slight plastic-y smell to me. If I didn’t have lait concentre already I’d consider this.

Sweet buttery bread. Very reminiscent of “Lait de Biscuit” Chabaud Maison de Parfum. This is a very fun, cozy, foodie-gourmand.

In the culinary world, a latte freddo is a strong iced latte (espresso + steamed milk + frothed milk) with raw sugar and cold foam. In the Italian language, latte freddo translates literally to cold milk. Interestingly, Hilde Soliani's Latte Freddo smells like neither of these things. As another reviewer noted, it really does smell like frying butter in a pan. That's exactly the smell. If you've ever browned butter on the stovetop, you'll know exactly what I mean. So, how does it compare with other lactonic fragrances? Let's compare with Fresh Cream from Philosophy. On my skin, Fresh Cream has two faces depending on my hormones, my nose, and the season: either it's sharp and sour like Greek Yogurt, or it's fluffy and sweet like a Vanilla Steamer from Starbucks (steamed milk + vanilla + whipped cream). Both of its faces are creamy, just in different ways. At this present moment, Fresh Cream smells fluffy and sweet on my wrist, making it the perfect scent to compare against Latte Freddo. In many ways, they smell similar. They're both sweet, creamy, and cozy. Fresh Cream is a little more milky, while Latte Freddo is a little more pastry-esque. I saw a review that compared Fresh Cream to the smell of Japanese milk bread, but feel this comparison is more apt for Latte Freddo. They're similar enough that I'd say if you own Fresh Cream and it doesn't pull sour on your skin, you don't need Latte Freddo. However, if Fresh Cream consistently pulls too fresh/sour for your taste, maybe give Latte Freddo a try. But be aware that Latte Freddo definitely feels more buttery and pastry-like, rather than strictly milky. And it definitely does not smell cold or icy. Is Latte Freddo worth the hefty price point? Hesitantly, I say... yes, but also sort of not. Let's compare again with Fresh Cream, which is an eau de toilette at $58 for ~60 ml ($0.96/ml), or $72 for ~120 ml ($0.60/ml). Latte Freddo is an eau de parfum at $185 for 100 ml ($1.85/ml). It's more than twice as expensive as the larger bottle, and slightly less than twice as expensive as the smaller bottle. On the one hand, it has probably about double the concentration of fragrance oil, which seemingly justifies the price. But on the other hand, they smell very very similar when they aren't directly side-by-side. So, yeah, it's probably a little overpriced. But if you're really looking for that melted butter smell, you'll be hard-pressed to find a fragrance as "right on the money" as this one. Overall, I like Latte Freddo. It's cozy and rich and (obviously) buttery. I won't be buying a full bottle, but I'll enjoy my sample while it lasts. Maybe I'll try layering it with Al-Rehab's Choco Musk to see if I can't make an ultra-realistic brownie scent. We'll see how it goes.

Initially smells exactly like what it says, cold milk. Well, in spirit anyway. There's a subtle, almost minty, almost salty note that I think is representing the ice and honestly it really does a good job. And then the sugary milk, of course. About 20 minutes into the drydown it morphs into a scent that reminds me, of all things, of making popcorn balls with my mom as a kid, which for those unfamiliar basically smell like caramelized butter and, of course, popcorn. Specifically, when you have all the butter smeared on your hands to help mold the sticky sweet popcorn into shape. And look, I'm not mad about that lol. It's oddly nostalgic. But I have to admit I'm not sure how many people would want to smell like that all day.

Ok so not a safe blind buy... like at all... honestly smells like cream or popcorn butter on my skin with a very faint vanilla note. By itself, it is so intense that it makes me feel sick. That being said, this is an amazing perfume to layer. I have been layering it with all my vanilly/sandlewood scents and it is SO GOOD!! Im also going to try it with some fruity scents and Black Opium. However when layering I have to use a teeny amount because of how strong this stuff is. Also it does not come off so be careful if you are testing it do not let anyone spray it on your skin until you’ve smelt it on paper. Overall, maybe like a 6.5/10? I grade generously tho

I have been looking for a photorealistic milk note for many months and now that I’ve found it, I’m not sure I want it. To me this smells JUST like cold milk...for that, bravo. But maybe it’s cold milk that has been left on the counter for a few hours and then returned to the fridge. Not spoiled by any means but it the freshest either. So torn. I got what I asked for and they really delivered in my opinion but I may just not actually want to smell like this. I will use for layering for sure, just have to be sure it’s with equally strong scents because when layered with faint ones, this definitely dominated.

My one true love. I have never found another lactonic/butter scent that hits the way this one does. It's perfect in its simplicity. Some days it smells like warm sweet milk. Other days it smells like buttered popcorn at the movie theater. It's exceptional for layering, and a fantastic bedtime scent. Comforting and alluring.

Tried out a decant. Latte Fredo definitely smells like condensed milk, at least in the beginning. After the drydown it turns a bit buttery. That doesn’t necessarily make this smell bad but I can almost feel the grease in the butter. Lovely, but I don’t think I’ll buy a full bottle.

Latte Freddo is a really unique scent! It's definitely sweet and milky, like a creamy latte, but with a fresh twist that keeps it from being too heavy. I get lots of compliments when I wear it!

Rich, icy cold milk. I also get a bit of popcorn. This is the exact same milk note in Bacio.

say i am married and in a white picket fence fantasy roleplay straight relationship. on a hot summer sunday, i peel off my aimless husband from the couch and send him to the grocer to buy the sugar and the litre of milk i am missing to make a cake for dinner. at the store, he runs into the dad of the kid who keeps outperforming ours at soccer practice and tries so hard to impress him by talking stocks that he instead gets 35% cream. on the way back, traffic is bad, he’s impatient and keeps jerking the car forward every time there is a 34cm opening in front of him —shaking that 35% so much it’s more like 35/ now. the windows are rolled down because he needs to tap the beat of the radiohead song he’s blasting over the speakers onto the car roof. the AC is off and the air is so hot it is sticky. when he gets home an hour later, he says “honey, i am back !,” tosses the car keys onto the entryway credenza and hands me a carton of what is now slightly off, overheated churned butter soaking in buttermilk. i sigh and when i ask him about the sugar he hits his forehead and says he completely forgot. anyway, i love hilde soliani to bits but this is how smelling latte fredo felt like to me. mildly rancid butter instead of sweet, cold milk. disappointing & frustrating. still, i will give hilde the benefit of the doubt because i read she lives in a small village near parma. maybe she has a cow in her garden and the only milk she drinks is hot and fatty and smells just like this. maybe one of her numerous michelin starred chef friends poured her a cold glass that smelled just like this, some sort of innovative culinary prowess. or maybe she just likes her milk a lil freaky. wouldn’t i like to know...

This is an interesting fragrance you definitely get the milk and a bit of sugar. It smells somewhat like heavy cream to me and is very lactonic. I don’t get any ice notes but then again, what would ice smell like in a fragrance? Unfortunately this turns funky on my skin and after a while it starts to smell like burnt milk. Yet, I keep going back to sniff my wrist. Let’s just say that I’m glad I bought a decant and not a full bottle!

Smells like a carnival. Buttered popcorn, greasy zeppoles, funnel cake dusted with powdered sugar. The longer I smell it the cheesier it becomes. Fun novelty scent but I'd never wear it out.

Well...I can’t say I wasn’t warned! I was so curious about what photorealistic milk would smell like and I certainly got my answer (or at least, what it smells like on me). I think it smells like buttered popcorn. By which I mean that I smelled like a movie theatre (which is not what I personally want to smell like). As the scent settled in, I couldn’t tell if what I was getting was chemically or salty. It was nearly a scrubber but I wanted to see the experience through from start to finish. I’ve decided that this is exactly what a glass of whole milk smells like when you stick your nose in and inhale and I’ve also decided that I don’t like it! But I knew it was a controversial scent and I understand why others are drawn to it - perhaps it would be good for layering with gourmands people found too bitter?

This is a funny scent. If you've tried Chabaud's Lait Concentre, this is that same sweetened condensed milk scent, with something a little extra for freshness. I think it's mint? It gives a minty nose tingle for the sense of coldness, so it's not a real iced milk as much as a funny conceptual cold milk. You will like this perfume if you're a weirdo with a sense of humor, or like smelling like minty butter. Over time the butter seems to fade into the background to create a softened mint, which isn't exactly a pleasant gourmand smell.

As much as I've wanted to like Latte Freddo (hoped it would be light, sweet, milky), I finally have to just give in and admit defeat; eager to try more of Soliani's perfumes but this one smells like expired butter/greasy old popcorn and makes my stomach hurt :,(

I'm so gutted I was hoping for the perfect cold glass of sweet milk 🥛 with something like a bergamot or even a little mint to give off that cold, fresh accord from the "ice" note but unfortunately all I get is greasy buttered popcorn on my skin 😭😭😭.

I don’t get any of the notes as I would have expected them to come through. I also only get movie theatre buttered popcorn but there is a hint of spoil in that butter - yah know, the kind thats actually coconut oil....where is the cold milk!?

Smells very realistically of milk. Just like a child sat on your lap and spilt milk, and cookies. Very well done I guess, but not something I'd like to wear....

Artificial butter straight from the pump at a movie theater. Just smelling it makes me feel greasy, and it lasted ALL DAY. Insane fragrance.

Smells like a grosser leit concentre it smells like a stink bug at the beginning but it goes away quick.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this fragrance but it wasn’t this dirty buttery smell. There is something reminiscent of a latte/coffee in the scent profile but, as a whole, it’s mostly unpleasantly weird. To my dismay, has quite a bit of staying power. I couldn’t escape it, no matter how far I was from my arms. Ended in manic scrubbing. Don’t bother.

What in the world is this? I was expecting something along the lines of Philosophy Fresh Cream- but this reads like full blown savory buttered popcorn on my skin. If you want to smell like a movie theater- this is for you. If you were hoping for a creamy or lactonic gourmand perfume, it’s definitely not a safe blind buy.

This is... something. I have smelled so many fragrances that claimed to have a salt note, and I’ve always been disappointed to find nothing even remotely saline in them. This is decidedly salty, though it’s not a listed note. The saltiness somehow does create the impression of that tartness or sourness that fresh, cold milk has. This is really, genuinely milk. A lot of scents also claim to do milk as well, and fail. This is truly milk. I’m just... not sure if I want to smell like this? Initially, the salt is very strong and this is melted, salted butter. I don’t get popcorn at all because there’s nothing corn-adjacent here, though I do understand the association people are making. To me, this is a pool of warm butter from pasta, gathering at the bottom of an empty plate. After about ten minutes, this dries down to a non-specific fruity, sweet scent with a pinch of dry, coarse salt sprinkled on top. As if maybe someone brought a cheesecake topped with a very syrupy strawberry compote on top, now sitting alongside the plate with the cooling butter, overwhelming its aromas. The salt is still there, but the sweetness takes center stage. Without the fruity accord, I would have considered buying this to layer. This is butter fatty, unctuous and full of umami that I could see layering so beautiful under so many things. It’s definitely worth smelling if you’re a fan of very literal, hyper-realistic gourmands.

I keep wanting to loooove Hilde's lactonic and sugary scents but I continue to just feel... idk fine. Nothing has really gripped me. I agree with the popcorn note. It's kind of giving elevated youthful buttered popcorn perfume you'd buy at the mall. It's fun, it's an interesting conceptual scent, don't think I'd want to wear it out. Maybe in the cold? Idk it's a little nauseating. If you cut it with a more green/citrus/peppery note by layering it might be a really nice and wearable scent but I'm not sure what that combo would be

Photorealistic milk and sugar scent. Very similar to her previous creation "Crema Di Latte" but this scent has no vanilla, no tonka, no cacao just pure thick foamy milk with sugar. Crema di Latte has vanilla and other sweet notes. I love this. It reminds me of condensed milk and milk candies. I don't know if I will purchase a full bottle but so far I really like this. By the way, I don't get the ice notes, and on my skin this scent feels warm and cozy...not so "Freddo"

To me, it's butter. Straight, mildly salty butter. Maybe even the hot liquid "butter" they put on popcorn at the theater. It's not sweet at for the first several minutes, which is odd. And I'm not sure how this could be perceived as cold. Panna Motata is in the other direction -- very sweet. I haven't had any luck with the Queen of Gourmand's scents yet, but I still have a few more in my cart to try.

Received this as a complimentary sample and I have to agree with the other reviewers who were put off by this. I do like a lactonic scent, but this was giving sour milk, and my initial reaction was revulsion (sorry!). I think if there was a little more nuance here, like a tea or coffee note to supplement, maybe it would come together a little more.

this is such a cute and sweet scent. it is exactly the smell of when you open a fresh bag of Pastitas cookies. a perfect butter, condensed milk, croissant, gourmand fragrance. i am not one for gourmands, but the christmas season has me feeling some sort of way i suppose. hilde soliani never lets me down.

I can’t stop smelling strawberries n cream or peaches n cream Quaker Oats whenever I put this on, and personally I love it!
