Quin Meringa

Hilde Soliani Quin – Italian Meringa is a 2020 release from the house of many gourmands by the queen of gourmands herself. This scent very literally smells of the meringue part of, say, a lemon meringue pie; in other words, sugary, whipped vanilla cream, and in that respect, it’s quite delicious, most closely reminiscent to the beloved Sweet Home of the same house, which smells of sugared chestnuts, another gourmand favorite of mine. Italian Meringa is a little cleaner, that is, simpler than Sweet Home in that rather than a hint of nuttiness, there is on the sugar with cream, and it very effectively balanced the sweetness with an aspect of lightness, all while performing decently well. It also balances the sugariness and creaminess, a hallmark of good icing/frosting, still necessary with meringue with a lighter overall target in mind. As with most of the brand, Quin - Italian Meringa is sold by Luckyscent in the US at $165 for 100ml, a reasonable price for niche creation. It’s not among the most unique in the line but is quite lovely and one I’d recommend trying. 7 out of 10

I was a little concerned because the immediate opening smells heavy on the alcohol, but that is because this fragrance is soooo light you have to let the alcohol dry down first. Afterwards, it is mostly a simple, airy, and mildly sweet whipped cream. But it is LIGHT, just like a Swiss or Italian meringue. There is a creaminess to Quin Meringa similar to that of Crema di Latte, but it has a more intimate projection. Would be great for layering or a cozy bedtime fragrance. Full bottle-worthy? I'm not too sure...

This is my favorite from the house due to its honest and more natural rendering of whipped cream and sugar, not the synthetic mess most (not all) of the others offer. This IS wearable. Yes, it’s shortly a skin scent and that’s perfectly fine. Sometimes I want to smell like this just for me. This is perfect for running errands, doing chores around the house, lounging in bed, any intimate ME times. Enjoy.

Powdery, airy whipped cream/vanilla.

Sometimes old ladies take their silver point Persian cats to the groomers. They come back silky, fluffy and irritated. They are irritated because the cat groomer used a cloying scented shampoo on them. Powdery, buttery, cat fur. This is their scent.
