Sweet Parmesan Violet

This is such a gorgeous scent!! It's one of the few samples I've sprayed that I love fresh from the bottle. Its not super complex, opening with a bright and sweet violet and pretty much staying that way, but its truly a beautiful scent. I actually appreciate its simplicity because there are so many perfumes that add way too many notes throughout to tell their stories, like lancome idole which opens as a juicy pear but fades to an allergy inducing musky rose. Sometimes the best scents are ones that are more linear like this one. Its also not too sweet. I've tried a variety of sweet florals and fruity scents and that sugar note always becomes cloying to me, but this violet is perfect because its as if the sweetness of the sugar is inherent to the violet itself. I really love this scent. It is signature scent worthy and unique but not offensive. It is almost $200 and I'm not sure the bottle design and more simple fragrance is worth that, but I do have a violet perfume oil that smells extremely similar so I may use that once my sample of sweet parma violet runs out. Not sure yet. To me, she is a beautiful light purple, a pretty french girl in the 50s, walking along the streets past the bakeries, clothing shops, and florists on a warm sunny day. Girly and graceful but not immature.

Probably the most beautiful simple sweet violet perfume out there and I tried so many! Very well blended, modern, realistic and delicately sweet, fortunately it doesn’t turn into lipstick-y vintage make-up kind of scent. This is what I’ve been looking for a sooo long time. If you are into earthy/watery/soily/sour violets this one is probably not for you. But if you love Guerlain Mètèorites pearls and ‘Mètèorites Le Parfum’ was a disappointment, you will adore Hilde’s violets believe me. The name (that has nothing to do with cheese, it refers to the beautiful city of Parma) sais it all. The longevity and sillage is *huge* especially for a soliflore, 8+ hours easily on my skin. It opens with realistic violets with a sweet undertone, after 30 minutes the sweetness become stronger, takes up the lead and keeps you in a pastel-purple aura for hours and hours. I ordered straight from the kindest, extremely talented Hilde and LOVE it, my search for the perfect sweet Violet is finally over <3

Mmmm this is so yummy! Candied violet done right. This is simple, lovely & masterfully done. Powdery sweet and just what I was hoping for. Longevity is decent too as I still get little whiffs at the end of my workday. I just keep wanting to sniff myself whenever I wear this. I think this may be a new favorite! Update 11/7 I'm in love with this! I find myself reaching for it every morning, and even touching it up when I get home from work even if I'm not going anywhere. I just want to smell like this all day! Even though it's pricey & just a two note fragrance, I ordered a full bottle as a Christmas present to myself. I do love cycling fragrances depending on my mood & the occasion, but this one is on its way to becoming my signature scent!

Beautiful scent that is most similar to the old fashioned British Parma Violets sweets, however, it lasts all of 10 minutes... Horrible longevity considering the price of the bottle. I wouldn't mind paying for this lovely fragrance if it actually lasted at least a couple of hours. I should say the sample I received is a dabber- maybe the proper sprayer would provide better longevity..? Edit: I got a spray sample, and it does last longer than the dabber. Still not the best longevity, but I've discovered that a spray and walk thru of GDT's Celeste then layering this on top with a few sprays prolongs it nicely!

Anyone can look at my wardrobe and guess that I am a fan of Hilde. I like the delicate thoughtful approach she takes with her fragrances. This one for instance, she takes powdery violet, which has been done a million times over and still makes it nice enough for me to order a bottle and love it. This is candy violet but with enough soft woods to keep it from being sickening. Penhaligon's Violetta is still my fave violet but this is close. This is softer and much warmer with the granular sugar note. I am a violet junkie so of course this is a good fix for me.

Lovely scent. It is sweet, yet beautiful. I have been on a violet search lately, so I've tested about 6 different ones. This was my second favorite after La Violette by Goutal. The Goutal has just a hint of green which I didn't detect in SPV. Sadly I tested from a dabber, so not sure if the longevity/sillage would be better from a spray. When my La Violette is gone, I will buy this to replace (I rarely ever repurchase a scent as there are so many to enjoy).

I absolutely love this. Beautiful sweet violet fragrance. It’s sweet, feminine and very playful. Makes me feel pretty and happy. It’s very uplifting. The performance and sillage here are both very good as well. No issues at all there. It is super duper sweet but after the dry down hits I think the sugar note calms down a bit. Violet is one of my favorite notes and I think think this may be my second favorite aside from Bvlgari Pour Femme.

This came way out of the blue for me. Was browsing around at ScentBar in New York this puppy got suggested to me by one of the "ScentTenders" I was familiar with the house of Hilde Soliani, but I hadn't smelled any for myself. This a sweet and simple powerhouse. Smooth, powdery, and dark floral. If Gene Wilder's version of Willy Wonka wore a fragrance, this would be it. Longevity is great as well. Smelled it on skin the next day.

The ultimate sugar plum fairy fragrance. Sugary and sparkly. For me, it’s a bedtime scent that lasts throughout the night, but I wouldn’t wear it outdoors as it’s far too sweet and one note. Other than that, this is one of my favorite perfumes of all time.

I love violets...and if you love violets you need to try this perfume NOW...sweet, sugary violets but it's not too sweet...such a peaceful and serene scent...love it...

Smells just like Parma violets to me! Perfectoooo!

A honeyed, candied violet with an olfactory burst of powdery sweetness. That’s what you get with this one- and I love it for the unique sweetness and vintage feel of the scent. Violets are such an old fashioned note and this one has such a fresh and powdery sweetness that evokes memories of playing with antique dolls and trying on your grandmothers perfumed powder from her vanity. It’s sweet without being too predictable, very soft without smelling too much like a dusty musky mess, it truly is a unique scent that is uplifting and fun. Hard to be sad wearing this scent- it just has an energy about it that brightens your mood. The projection and wear on this is pretty moderate to large. The dry down was nice and soft for me...lots of vanilla. Great I think for spring and summer.

Bought a sample to test from Lucky Scent and like it but unsure if full bottle worthy. It opens sweet with strong candied violets fades to an odd perfumed doll scent but not plastic. After dry down I noticed black pepper scent but it isn’t listed in notes. On my skin this perfume does not last more than 3-4 hours with zero projection or scent trail. I will retest in cold weather today it is 90 degrees and desert heat evaporated this perfume fast!

I get no trace of parmesan cheese but plenty of violet. Okay, bad joke, but still, plenty of violet goodness with additional floral sweetness. The start was quite violet candy-like, and as it progressed, the citrus came into play a lot more, and then as it died down, a sweet plastic floral scent came to the fore. Not really my cup of tea, I mean, I love iris and violets, but not quite like this...

i agree with the reviewer that said this smells like candy cigarettes. it’s a sweet, powdery, sugared violet, but the sugar is a mix of confectioners and the sugar coating they put on sour candy. there’s definitely a slight tartness in this. overall, it’s super pretty and reminds me of ladies of the court drinking tea in a garden on a crisp spring morning.

My wife and mother in law get each other Les Anis de Flavigny violet candies, and this perfume perfectly captures the smell and taste of them. I’m not sure I’d wear it myself, but it smells great! I truly appreciate Hilde’s playfulness and creativity with her fragrances.

I wanted an uncomplicated, drama-free violet for layering. Nothing cerebral or challenging. More like a joyful purple highlighter that you can also use for doodling tiny flowers in the margins. Sometimes singularity is helpful.

Powdery baby smell, very light and youthful, airy, natural, a touch of sweetness. Quite pleasant, but too mild for my own tastes. Honestly every time I smell it I smell the head of a baby. Very comforting. 6.5/10

It's a bit one dimensional and smells like spot-on violet hard candy. The dry down is a bit plastic-y/synthetic. I use this for layering with some powdery/makeup-y fragrances and it works!!!

Smells just like Devon Violets. Is that still around? Brought me into childhood memories of treasuring my little green glass bottle painted with purple violets.

True candied violet, slightly lipsticky. I prefer this over Insolence which can be screechy. This violet is smooth. Doesn't last.

Smells like eating candy on a dark and rainy early morning in an abandoned overgrown garden. Sweet yet wistful.

For the first couple of hours I am reminded of Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker.

TO PREFACE, I received this in the mail on accident with my order from LuckyScent (They have sorted it out AFAIK and I should be receiving the proper decant I ordered) and let me tell you, when I saw “Parmesan” in the title? Of course my mind immediately went to cheese. While i know now that the name “Parmesan” which means “from Parma.” but doesn’t it refer almost exclusively to the cheese, not to all things from Parma? Regardless, This scent is candy. I was not expecting such a candy smell from this. Sour candy to be exact. it’s a sugar candy sour. SweeTarts, Sour Skittles, Sour Patch Kids.. It's sharp, sugary, and tinged with that weird, almost burning sourness you get when you've had too many sour gummies and your mouth starts to hurt a little and it has a smell. There is a whisper of florals somewhere in there, for sure. Not green, fresh, or even remotely woody or earthy. No cucumber, no grass. Just sour, sweet, powdery candy with maybe a hint of flowers trying to peek through. Someone said violet pastilles and I’ve never had them before but i feel like this has to be what it's trying to smell like. I’d try some of those if they taste like how this smells. I also agree with the sentiment that this smells like Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka with that purple suit. It’s sillage is light and airy. More of a "catch it here and there" than something that clings heavily. Don’t expect a dry down where florals bloom or something deeper develops. It’s pretty linear so if you don’t like how it smells at first, you won’t like it later either. What’s surprising is the price. it feels wildly overpriced for what it is and the packaging looks a bit cheap. I actually thought it was an indie brand at first glance. If it came in something as delicate and ornate looking as like Flowerknows bottles, this may attract more attention I think. In the end, I highly recommend this and I might try more from Hilde Soliani. it's not terrible, just not for me. I didn’t ask for this fragrance, and I wouldn’t buy a full bottle. I’d be more attracted to it if the bottle was pretty enough to own.

I love the opening, a sugared violet and it was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately the dry down went south on me. The pretty violet note turned into a caramelized sugar bomb. The violet note, now smothered by a sweet gourmand overall scent. And it smelled synthetic. If that opening could’ve continued, I would be happy as I’ve never been one to turn away from a linear scent. This one did not work for me, and I’m jealous of all the people who had better luck.

Sweet Parmesan Violet by Hilde Soliani was not the candied violet I had anticipated, especially given that the only notes listed are violets and sugar. Instead, Sweet Parmesan Violet smelled more like the perfumed soaps found in the bathrooms of luxury hotels. It’s lovely for those seeking a lightly sweet soapy violet, however I am craving the candied variety.

The scent at first spray was lovely, sweet violet candy. About five minutes later I get a weird plasticky smell over the flower and then two hours later - powdered violets come in. If I could skip that plasticity part - this would be a love.

Sweet Parmesan Violet by Hilde Soliani is a straightforward violet fragrance reminiscent of those found in tourist shops in Parma or Toulouse—something like a first perfume or a souvenir from a family summer trip. What stands out most is its sugary sweetness, which isn’t syrupy or sticky like caramel but works well with the powdery violet notes.

I’m A guy so take that into consideration. This is too powdery and too mature for me. Zero sweetness. Zero stickiness. This is dry violet powder. In fact it smells the bathroom air refreshener you spray from an aerosol can. It would be nice for a woman of a certain age.⭐️⭐️

In my perfumista experience, violet can go one of three ways... a sharp, crisp, green violet surrounded by wet leaves... or a powdery cosmetic bag lipstick.... or a sweet almost fruity sugared candy. Hilde Soliani's version here is the latter. A very candy like, childhood nostalgia violet. Almost berry like in it's demeanor, good enough to eat. Reminds me a tiny bit of my dear Lolita Lempicka, minus the dark or spicy aspects of that one. FYI, "Parmesan" refers to the Parma region of Italy where these violets first appeared. This is also the region of northern Italy famous for the cheese. But no, this does not smell like...I saw a review on Basenotes where someone said they were expecting this to smell like cheese, LOL.

Sweet, powdery, delicate, feminine. This is truly for the violet lovers. Side note, the fact that only two notes are listed—violet and sugar—feels absolutely crazy to me. I SWEAR this has a lactonic note somewhere in there. On my skin it reads a little creamy and vanillic, borderline gourmand. Remember how as kids we used to add chocolate/strawberry syrup to milk and get chocolate/strawberry milk? This feels like someone achieved the concept of violet milk. It's probably a bizarre reach, considering no one else has mentioned this having a lactonic quality, but my skin does tend to pull really sweet, so who knows.

Very close to Celeste and Mallow, just less musk and more straightforward, which I appreciate. Violets and sugar are never a bad combo! This bottle though, it looks like a $30 Yardley bottle. When I’m spending nearly $200, let’s face it, after taxes and shipping it’s coming out to that, I EXPECT a beautiful bottle that entices me to wear it and this just looks kind of cheap. So HS, could you consult a better art director for bottles and packaging please?!

It's time to start shifting from winter fragrances to spring fragrances, and this scent is perfect for the transition. It's sweet violets. Light, pretty, and feminine. I would almost classify it as a gourmand. It's as if tiny violet pastilles became a perfume. Violet is a note that could never be called a beast, which is one of the reasons I like it. The longevity and sillage are similar to the other violet perfumes in my collection.

Thank you Lucky Scent. I said in my request for samples that I was a lover of violets and wanted a violet scent that wasn't Insolence or Celeste and they sent me this and I was so happy! I love both of those scents, but I was wanting a yummy violet scent and I found it with this one. It's such a natural, lifelike violet scent but it's also sweet and candied and I love it. Definitely going to be my next purchase as a violet lover.

As a violet fan I'd love to try this hard to find and expensive scent. So far I've had no luck with several well known violet perfumes - looking at you, Insolence and Molinard! Tbh, the name of this scent confuses me: shouldn't it be Parma Violet? Well known for their lovely perfume, those delicate flowers deserve better than being confused for a cheese. :)

Imagine Leone's violet flavored pastilles, Guerlain's Meteorites, and a bit of the sugary cotton candy drydown of Lolita Lempicka. Sweet Parmesan Violet is very pretty, and very well done. The price is quite high for what it is though. There are a bunch of equally great violet candy scents out there that cost ten times less.
