Ti Amo: Iris

I love this. It's a soft, powdery, beautiful Iris. I've been searching for an Iris perfume, and have not found any I love yet, except this one. I cannot buy a bottle of it though, as it only lasted about an hour on me. It saddens me because I enjoyed it immensely for that very short hour. Alas, all of the perfume that I have tried in this house have a very short life span on my skin. I hope other people will be able to enjoy these very beautiful fragrances longer! It is not worth the price to me, even as wonderful as it is. I recommend buying a tester from Luckyscent and keep your money because in the end, you will be very sad when this fleeting beauty disapears from your skin before you can turn around....

Oh my gosh, is it just me or is it Hilde Soliani is pulling these recipes out of the Heavens!! This absolutely works with my chemistry, as does most of her fragrances. I usually don't like floral's, but this one is so different. It's powdery on me but you can smell the floral in the background. It's not overpowering at all. Very soft and very feminine. As always, sample first before you buy a FB of anything. You can tell this is quality and there are layers to it. It's a very good everyday fragrance. Perfection again by Hilde.

There is more staying power for this fragrance when sprayed over moisturized skin. It's like a brighter Tocca Colette, which I love dearly. I smell the iris immediately, it opens very youthfully. On the dry down, it gets creamy and smells like almonds and sandalwood, and the maturity comes out. I can smell it on myself very faintly when my temperature rises. It's perfect for when you want to wear perfume for someone in particular, but you don't want them to know you put it on just to see them.

Hilde Soliani once said: “I hate to emulate nature because I believe it is perfect. I want to create something different that is the reproduction of what I feel in that moment -something that I appreciated and want others to feel the same”. This is not a traditional Iris, neither a reproduction of the natural iris. This is a unique iris, lovely, creamy, soft, powdery, feminine, warm and with a touch of sweetness. It reminds me that the iris is a beautiful flower. Distinct and elegant. Regarding the composition, there are at least 3 recipes: fragrantica, Luckyscent, and the "English retail store" version that includes lily of the valley, mimosa and musk as well. I would go for the one presented by luckyscent. Generally, they are pretty accurate and have realistic fragrance descriptions. I don’t get the notes that fragrantica presents here. So, Orris root, green pepper, almond, sandalwood and heliotrope. It opens green and warm at the same time with lovely almond accords. Generally the iris note is paired with mimosa that can make it too soapy and powdery sometimes. The almond choice is uplifting and makes this iris unique, radiant and friendly. The sandalwood is in charge of the sweet and warm tones. There is a floral touch as well that complements the iris. Probably the heliotrope. I don’t get the jasmine neither the mimosa here. The powdery and soapy tones are coming from iris and almond. Vetiver and musk? Maybe musk as the drydown feels soft and tender. The almond tone doesn’t give up until the last end and makes a harmonious pair with the sandalwood. Refined and unusual composition. I want it badly. 8.4/10

A creamy, sweet, approachable Iris resting on a bed of almond. There is something that feels cosmeticsy to me in this but not really like soap or powder. It’s more like a cold cream because it feels rich and dense, with a tiny touch of sharp nail polish. That may sound unappealing but trust me, this isn’t. Some would say it’s a lipstick fragrance. This to me has a strong feeling of purple about it, so I love the bottle, and I’m pretty sure there is heliotrope in here adding to that sweet but dense purple feeling. Ti Amo Iris probably isn’t for everyone, but the people who like it are going to really like it. I’m one of them.

Creamy sweet and soft Iris dream! Lovely and daytime perfect. I am not sure if this is a night time scent though because it is delicate. I will wear this for myself as it is calming and relaxing. Can be worn all seasons. Elegant, light and warm. Good when you don’t want to offend non fragrance lovers in close quarters like shows or public events.

this is the first scent i've tried from hilde soliani and apparently it's from her very first collection of fragrances. i see the hype. it begins smelling like sharp soap; but a weirdly addictive, delicious soap with a heaping dash of amaretto almond. eventually the sharp quality recedes, but it retains its distinct personality: buoyant, dreamy, a little eccentric. i thought i disliked soapy accords but there's something so heavenly about this composition. it's playful and optimistic, an unusual mood for iris. light, but sophisticated--in her recent profile in the nyt, soliani said she always uses at least three chemical compounds to compose a single note in any of her scents (she also said that she deserved to be called not just the queen of gourmands, but the queen of perfume, period... italian dom "moooother" energy.) her concepts are straightforward but the result, at least here, isn't simplistic. this iris is pure pleasure with a touch of mystery. i re-applied my sample today after it had gone. do i actually really want this expensive, dreamy iris soap? ...yes :((

i just received the hilde soliani perfume Iris in the mail as i had won it in the recent contest. i was very excited and found when i first spritzed it on my skin it was a creamy floral bouquet and quite pretty. unfortunately like any perfume the scent was a bit different as it settled on my skin. i think perhaps on someone else it would have smelled absolutely wonderful but on my skin the woodsy and musk base notes were very strong. it reminded me of the time when my sister started using armani mania and it smelled wonderful on her and then when i tried it, it smelled awful on me. perfume is very particular to each and every person who puts it on and i believe that on another person this perfume could smell like a creamy bouquet of springtime!

This didnt' work for me either, though I really wanted it to. I got a cold rooty iris with a weirdly warm note that reminds me of tomato soup. I really disliked it, so I waited a week or so and tried again. It goes on so darn sheer, it's hard to detect, but definitely still had that tomato soup edge. That finally faded off and left some violet iris with woody orris, that turned sweet, with a tart flower edge that I do like. But it took hours to get there and is so sheer there’s no sillage at all even when I made my wrist sopping wet. And that middle bit with the soup is nasty. Just clashes horribly.

This is a soft floral iris with more than a hint of almond. It's very delicate, feminine and slightly retro. If you're looking for a natural soft iris as a daytime summer perfume I'd try James Heeley's Iris de Nuit first, which to my nose has more depth and interest as well as subtlety than this

This is definitely a unique Iris - there is a sweet edge without being at all cloying, which I love. Sadly comes off a little too soapy for me overall though. Didn’t change much on my skin after initial application. If you don’t mind a soapy note, I say go for it. But it’s a deal breaker for me.
