Summer in Paro

For me the opening on this is a bracing, pungent, slightly sour, medicinal and animalic (almost pee adjacent) honey. This stage lasts for a few seconds but can be really off putting and nauseating if that's not your thing. After that fades and it settles in Summer in Paro becomes a warm dense slightly sweet and smoky honeyed incense. The pungent medicinal aspect lays in the background and helps it not be overwhelmingly sweet (to me at least) and whatever contributed to the animalic aspect I got from the honey is completely gone at this point. Summer in Paro ultimately reminds me a bit of vintage amber fragrances which I love, but this will be very hard to enjoy if you don't appreciate that scent profile. Absolutely sample this before buying. The name has summer in it, but I'll probably wear this exclusively during the fall/winter due to how warm (thank you amyris) and dense it is.

Like the name says, it's the smell Of summer, not a smell For summer. And it does indeed smell like summer. To me it's a accurate recreation of standing in a meadow, surrounded by nature, in the middle of summer. It's warm, cozy and full of life. The honey is more reminiscent to those honeycomb candles. Lots of balsamic notes, but not overpowering. I get a slight black tea note in the background, probably the patchouly and the balsam fir giving me that impression. A light floral note i can't identify, sandalwood, the petigrain gives it the citrusy touch without it smelling like citruses. Spring and fall scent. Day or night. Casual to semi formal. Unisex and any age. Longevity on my skin with notable+ projection is 8+ hours. Personal score: 9/10. I really love this series of seasonal fragrances from Hima Jomo. I've been very impressed, and i'll be looking to have all 4 in my collection in the not too distant future.

Wow, Hima Jomo scents are really hitting the mark with what they try to convey: the sense of the Himalayan region with it's vast wilderness, it's people, culture and the spiritual connection to nature. A great house with unique, storytelling perfumes that at the same time are highly wearable. This is a lovely composition. Smoky sandalwood with a hint of leather and a smooth piney vibe. The benzoin and the honey sweetens it a bit and together it gives a cozy, outdoorsy and almost meditative vibe. Like a beautiful summer day in the northern hemisphere. But do not think that this is a freshie because it has the word "summer" in it, although it works perfectly as a summer fragrance if you live in a slightly colder climate.

Opens woody and musky - animalic Soon the sweet notes take over that of labdanum and honey Along with spiciness of patchouli that then turn into earthy and dry qualities in the dry down Sweetness almost completely disappears but the animalic muskiness persits through There is a very interesting note present among the musks that is almost like a creamy kind of mint - maybe petitgrain?

Heady, intense honey dripping with sweetness in a field of wildflowers in the dead heat of summer. Deep golden pollen and purple notes. There's a medicinal undernote that emerges in the drydown but it's very well blended. I prefer the other fragrances I've tried from this house, but Summer in Paro is certainly well-crafted.

It is not a bad perfume, but I wish it was less sweet. Now honey and osmanthus cover other ingredients and muddle the composition into a sweet mess.

Syrupy, slightly raunchy, floral, musky. To me it leans more feminine and isn’t my taste. But if those descriptors suit you, this is one to check out. 6.0/10

Spicy osmanthus honey over balsamic sandalwood patchouli amber musk I was very excited about the the sichuan pepper note, since I love using both the green and red variants for seasoning. Here they seem linked to the underlying caramelised benzoin amber and woods via cinnamon and clove, which is an interesting idea and surprisingly cohesive, like sprinkling a touch of Sichuan pepper in a spiced winter tea. I am certainly feeling stone fruit and jasmine in the back, presumably the osmanthus accord, adding depth and sensuality. Grounding the base is the sandalwood, surrounded by caramel benzoin, with hints of incense, balsamic elements and a good dose of patchouli, some complex feline musks are in there too. Lovely stuff, particularly when the spiced honey meets the fruity floral core starts, resonating with the benzoin facets. Somewhat classically feminine, due to that jasmine inflection and fruitiness, but would probably read genderless nowadays due to its niche abstract nature.

The niche girlies Thé Noir. I say that not because they share any notes in common, but because they have a similar fresh-juicy-woody-aromatic energy. Thé Noir goes more woody-bitter with a fruity sweetness, and Summer in Paro more bright-botanical with a beeswaxy sweetness, but I had my opening thought while wearing Summer in Paro today, then smelled each vial side by side, and stand by it.

Sweet animalic musk that feels like the memory of a hazy summer afternoon. @zeamoore4 was spot on when saying it was a frag of summer not for summer. Bit too labdanum forward for me but I know I’ll hold on to my sample for days in the colder months when I want to feel that warm hazy carefree feeling.
