Barari

Here's my story with Barari... When it was probably just launched, about 6 years ago, I was driving through the border of Oman-UAE, I had a nasty cold/flu situation, my nose was completely blocked, I couldn't smell anything. I stopped at the drive through at the passport checkpoint. I was still in my car, I rolled my window down, leaned over and handed my passport to the lady officer, she was in her booth, a good 3-4 feet away. When she leaned over to return my passport, I got the most beautiful whiff of her perfume, it wasn't subtle or faint. It was a gust of something so pretty and alluring. I couldn't believe I could smell it with my nostrils blocked!!! I had to ask her, what she was wearing and I told her about my blocked nose and how I could still smell her perfume. She seemed so happily surprised. She told me it's from a perfume house called Hind Al Oud and it's called Barari..... Sigh! It was like a lover that got away. I couldn't get it out of my mind. I had no idea of it's notes or anything. All I knew was it was stunning. I recently and finally took the plunge and bought it. Yes, the ginger is strong in this one but it's so perfectly blended with the rose that you can almost picture a rose with ginger roots! If that makes any sense at all. The rose and the ginger are one in this. And then the Oud shines through in the background, it's like 2 lovers, the rose and ginger are waltzing under the Oud moonlight (best visual I can imagine for this fragrance). The 3 never separate, never dominate each other. Each perfectly in tune with the other. Very rarely a perfume leaves such a mark on me, Barari certainly has. It is definitely different.

I'm adding a second, newer review for my beloved Barari because all this time I struggled to compare Barari to any other fragrance, I own nearly 200 perfumes and have tried and worn more... People who voted that it's similar to Chanel No. 5 are completely off the mark! No.5 is an aldehyde loaded powder bomb, it's lovely and highly recognizable on its own, but it's definitely not like Barari. So last night when I sprayed Barari on my scarf I suddenly got a whiff of another one of my personal all-time favorite and also a classic scent, Ralph Lauren Romance!!! If there's ever a fragrance that's like a close twin of Barari it would be Romance. The big difference is Barari is like a Middle Eastern, Oud-centric oriental Romance (& yes I own both and I take my fragrances very seriously, lol!) Of course if you sprayed them side by side you'll know which is what, but if you layer them together they will blend beautifully. So I hope this comparison helps.... It's a shame and a blessing too, that Barari and many of Hind Al Oud fragrances aren't mainstream or talked about much by many people, especially influencers. I'd hate to see Barari duped or cloned into a "cheapy" spray. I love the exclusivity, it's like a beautiful secret.... RL Romance and Barari will forever be in my collection.

Barari by Hind Al Oud is honestly one of those hidden gems that doesn’t get the love it deserves. It’s a really beautiful take on rose and oud, but not in the usual heavy or dark way. The oud here feels smooth and clean, and the rose is soft and elegant, not overpowering. The touch of ginger in the opening gives it a fresh, slightly spicy lift that makes the whole scent feel brighter and more modern. It’s classy, easy to wear, and works great for both day and night. If you like rose-oud fragrances but want something lighter and more refined, Barari is definitely worth trying.

Another master piece by Hind, very well balanced fragrance where it captures floral, woody & fresh scent. Not to forget it has the middle Eastren identity. Very amazing for special days & definitely for special occasions and night outs.

Great scent. Love a well-done oud-forward fragrance. This rose and ginger harmonize very well. It only gets better throughout the day. Surprising how this is not more popular.
