1804

On July 1st, the year 1804, in Paris, Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin, who became Baroness of Dudevant was born. She became known for her androgynous pseudonym, George Sand. A great writer, a good lover and involved with the cause, she was the incarnation of the first modern woman. And it was about this character that this perfume was created, reflecting its generosity and sensuality. This is a bouquet of flowers, warmed with intoxicating spices and colored by candy fruits. It brings, in the output, notes of Tiare flower (Tahitian gardenia), Corsica peach and ananas (pineapple) from Hawaii. In the heart, cloves, nutmeg, Indian jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Moroccan rose. At the base, notes of sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, vanilla, and white musk. The result is a rich and extremely powerful scent. A single spray of 1804 is enough to cause damage (in a good way)! From the moment it touches the skin, the fruity tone dominates the environment. The “ananas”, which is regarded as a sweeter and juicier type of pineapple, is the most notable ingredient in this composition. The less trained noses will tell you they just feel pineapple in this perfume. But with a little bit of calm, it is possible to feel the nuances of peach holding hands to the pineapple. The gardenia, however, merges with the jasmine, for having so similar and almost silky nuances. Then, about 20 minutes later, the fruity aroma remains strong, but it is possible to feel the presence of nutmeg and more flowers in the fragrance. That's when the floral aspect starts to become more prominent and the initial sweet accord, remembering a dessert being prepared in the pot, begins to be more contained. This is the perfume itself because it remains this way for a long time on the skin. Only about three hours after applied, the base notes give a creamier tone of vanilla and benzoin, making the scent more mature, finishing the portrait of George Sand, one of the precursors of feminism. Aspects as longevity and projection are beyond reproach in this fragrance.

Impromptu Pineapple, Pen Names & Patchouli... This scent was composed as a tribute to George Sand, and I could imagine the set of Impromptu (1991) smelling of this (a period drama about George Sand and Chopin), or George Sand's character wearing it (played by Judy Davis). The discovery set insert reads: "Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin, known by her male pen name George Sand, was the incarnation of the first modern woman. For the contemporary heiress, an amber floral bouquet warmed with heady spices and colored by sweet fruits." Although it's targeted to woman, like George Sand this also has a masculine edge that makes it wearable by anyone. Opens with a burst of pineapple. The pineapple here buttery & overripe, like a note from a chardonnay bouquet. As it transitions to the heart, some white-florals emerge along with a smattering of spices. Patchouli is there in the base, lending some dark & dusty notes with baby-powder & bandaid nuances. The pineapple manages to remain for most of the wearing experience and is the star of the show. Sometimes I find pineapple too sharp or screechy, but here it's beautiful. This isn't a dupe of anything, but it is in that family of pineapple-patchouli scents like Angel Mugler and Chance Chanel. Performance is slightly above average for year round wear. It's a love for me. Enjoy! I'm watching "A place to call home" and this would suit a 50s upper-class woman perfectly. I could see both Elizabeth (the matriarc and ruler of the family) and Anna (the young passionate beauty) wearing 1804 , while the bohemian Carolyn would suit the more mysterious and naughty Courtesan by Worth (another favorite of mine featuring pineapple). I find 1804 incredibly classy and beautiful, it's so smooth and creamy when you get to the heart and dry-down. Personally I don't get exotic or summery as the main impression at all, a true all year around floral. Feminine high-class beauty with a warm, fruity aspect. The pineapple is mastered perfectly, neither sickening or too fresh. Imo pineapple can give a rather seductive and creamy aspect if done right, and Histoires certainly hit the nail on the head. Patchouli and pineapple is a fabulous combination. If you are sensitive to patchouli it might stand out, but I was surprised it wasn't more prominent, it is very well behaved and takes the backside for a big part of the ride. I just plain love this and wish it would get more praise. Not for everyone, I see that, but it is incredibly likeable and in-offensive. Wearing 1804 makes me feel in control, calm & collected. It is not the wild one you'd might expect from the notes, far from it (try Courtesan, she's complicated and multi-faceted). If I were to just keep two scents I'd keep this and Courtesan, that's how much I love it. That would be all I'd need (if I wasn't such a perfume freak)

I bought this. One sniff and I was in love, trying to figure out which bills were due and when so that I could get a FB. It just makes me happy :) This starts out with a lot of pineapple, really ripe pineapple without the sharpness that I've found in other perfumes. Oftentimes it seems I'll spray something tropical on (like Escada, Hanae No.8, or Miami Glow) and it turns into ammonia on my skin. This, however, remains an edible pineapple for about half an hour before the spice shines through. Pineapple and peach are the main players the entire way through, but spice, flowers, and creaminess weave in and out of it, creating a lively dynamic. For some reason, it ever so slightly reminds me of Lolita Lempicka. Hm... Oddly enough, my coworkers said this smelled powdery. I don't get powder at all. I'm thinking they just...don't really know enough about perfumes to categorize them. Not being snobby, they just don't really know notes. This can definitely be oversprayed and become an enormous headache, so apply with caution.

1804 is a bright, JUICY, rich pineapple floral, one thousand miles away from teeny-bopper pineapple accords. I agree that this has more of a savory, almost grilled pineapple vibe, that smells --charmingly -- slightly vintage leaning - in that it smells more perfume-y than many of today's releases and I appreciate that about it! And yet, it's an easy wear for me with amazing longevity (that pineapple note lasts and lasts and lasts and....!!!) with decent sillage. I try so many niche offerings I can barely smell or dissipate way too fast to justify the cost. Sylvie's creations for Histoires de Parfums are strong and unique in character, smelling like proper perfumes for people who LOVE perfume. There's so many I've loved from this house with 1804, 1969 and This is Not a Blue Bottle 1.2 (from the very talented Luca Maffei) being my favorites. Now I just need to get my nose on their new Tuberose! Highly highly recommend 1804 if you're a BIG fruity floral lover as well as this house in general!!

I got this as a sample with a recent order, as I was getting a little impatient with a particular perfume subscription order. The overall impression is very light and fresh. The opening is a lot like cutting into raw pineapple fresh from the market - it's juicy, sweet, and tart. Nothing heavy, candied, or offensive. It keeps that fresh pineapple note for a while, and it slowly morphs into a fresh, powdery, almost clean scent. I don't get any sandalwood, patchouli, or benzoin - or even vanilla - but the combination plays nicely together. There's nothing cloying or strong. After a while, it just becomes a faint wisp of powdery freshness, which is fine. Being that I work in a somewhat hot environment, it seems to work out fine as it doesn't offend my fellow co-workers. Work aside, I find that it lifts my mood a little bit. At some point, I may even buy a full size bottle.

I got the sampler set at Sephora. This is one of my favorites. Before I knew this was pineapple, I thought this perfume contained the thickest, chewiest, sour sweet cherry taffy in the entire world - made much more sense when I learned the note was pineapple!! Mad applause! Knockout opening that ends in a cozy, almost soapy/sawdusty, fruity jam. Beautiful! This could easily sell as a very nice girly bottled designer fragrance. I imagine it along the ranks of Mon Paris, Mon Guerlain, Lolita Lempicka, Flowerbomb - this perfume doesn't smell like those designers but it would appeal to the same target demographic. It's a safe try if you enjoy the above perfumes. Histoires de Parfums is quickly becoming one of my favorite houses! Thank you for putting out an affordable sampler set as I will sing your praises in the forums!

This is the first feminine scent from Histoires I’ve tried, and I think it’s lovely. It reminds me of my mother's old perfumes. The pineapple is very strong, as well as the peach and vanilla. The next batch of scent to hit you after the initial sweetness is all earthy and musky. The cloves, the jasmine, and rose all mingle together to create a lovely sweet, earthy bouquet. The pineapple lingers perhaps too long and too strongly, but personally the tropical nature works well for me. The more it sits, the more managed it becomes. It has the appearance of cheap perfume at first, fruits and sweets do that since they’re so popular, but it comes forward with some time to show its complexity and nuance. And I think this would be great in combination with perhaps a more masculine scent from Histoires. I’m a real fan. 8/10

I love pineapple, and I have wanted a pineapple perfume for a long time. Sadly this one doesn't develop on my skin. It remains a syrupy sweet pineapple out of a can for a very long time. I can tell there are spices wanting to come out, but they are smothered by the pineapple syrup and don't stand a chance. This had the potential to be so perfect.... Edit: If anyone cares how this smells on others, I have to add that I put this on my mother, and it smelled AMAZING!! It was a spiced pineapple, almost like Angel if its pineapple note were far more prominent than it actually is. I am so jealous my mom can wear it, but at least I get to smell it when she's around. This is her new signature. I bought her a bottle; it was that beautiful on her.

If you love ripe pineapples by any chance it is the one for you Other fruit based fragrances use the fruit basket concept which makes it hard to pinpoint specific notes examples such as Erba pura But here it is as evident as day smells like a delicious pineapple juice with the needed quality to enjoy it It doesn’t smell synthetic or annoying and it wasn’t cloying it was the perfect pineapple scent If you are searching for something more sophisticated or deeper than my description you won’t find it It’s specialty is its simplicity About the performance all I ask of you is to indulge in spraying and you your surroundings will smell of pineapples for hours Respect to the brand and the perfumer

Deep, rich, multifaceted, sexy gourmand, I picture a self-ironic femme fatale wearing this, if this type have ever existed. She's deadly gorgeous, perfectly dressed and manicured, perfumed, with full makeup, but still, not a caricature. 1804 opens with very sugary pineapples and peaches, after that I get lots of cloves and nutmeg, and the base is predominantly sandalwood, patchouli, clean musk and vanilla. Probably benzoin, too, as it's very powdery. One word - gorgeous! And with lots of class. 1804 is VERY sweet, but so well constructed that it smells expensive. The lasting power and the sillage are impressive. Be ready to receive many compliments on your fragrance.

Based on previous reviews I thought this would be a quite messy composition. However, it completely blew me off my feet. For me, the beauty lies in the dry-down. It’s a divine mix of pineapple, giving a slightly fruity, sweet aura, there’s creaminess, could it be the tiare flower lingering or the sandalwood vanilla jasmine mix? Nutmeg is making things interesting and there’s patchouli, not too earthy and just enough dirty. Lasts forever on clothes but projects in a polite way, nothing harsh or screechy about it. This makes me feel like a powerful and mysterious woman but there’s no darkness, only warmth.

1804 is a truly lovely amber floral scent. On me it opens as a fruity floral, then quickly deepens into a more vanilla floral with just a hint of fruit remaining. The jasmine and gardenia take center stage, with rose, lily of the valley, vanilla, benzoin, and patchouli singing backup. The fruits are now in the chorus, lending a bit of sweetness. I enjoy how this scent develops. On its own 1804 isn't as powerful or long lasting as some of the other Histoire de Parfums fragrances. I like layering 1804 with 1899 to make it more floral or with Ambre 114 to add depth.

1804 is a great perfume to wear throughout the day if you have the time to appreciate each layer. It's a fragrance with very pronounced top, middle and base notes. Initially, there is a blast of zesty pineapple and dry roses that will leave your nose tingling. It then moves into a bouquet of sweet, almost sugary flowers that gradually develops a strange bonfire-like warmth. Finally, sandalwood and other soft woody notes reveal themselves while still retaining wisps of its former self that float by like ribbons. I absolutely love this scent!

I tried it yesterday and kept smelling my wrist all night long! It's so yummy! I was hoping it would be similar to Chanel Chance, but it turned out that it's actually very similar to Nuits de Noho by Bond No. 9. They share the same main notes: pineapple, patchouli and vanilla. It's also in the vein of Angel but because of the strong pineapple note it's much more similar to Nuits de Noho than to Angel (Nuits de Noho basically smells like Angel with pineapple). 1804 is a cold season scent for sure.

It’s that good!👌🏼✨️ It instantly reminded me of Terry de Gunzburg’s Ombre Mercure, but this one feels way more wearable as an everyday signature scent. How do I even start to describe this masterpiece? It’s a true all-season frag, very French in style, with a gorgeous blend of grilled pineapple♨️🍍, peach🍊, jasmine🪷, patchouli☘️,vanilla🍦& sandalwood🍂🪾 The scent is divine✨️🎉moderate projection, solid longevity, an honest 10/10 for me💯

A lush, bold tropical floriental that demands attention. The fruity notes (peach and pineapple) remain prominent throughout; for those who love these notes, it's a must-try. A sumptuous floral with a warm vanilla, musky-woody dry down. Silage is big, longevity over 10 hours. To be honest, I'm not a fan of bold fruity notes in general but this might be the exception-very realistic and juicy and so over-the-top that it's easy to imagine that George herself would have approved.

It didn’t start with a bang with this one. My first impression was “meh. Thank god I only bought a travel spray” kind of thing. But then after few days of wear i got hooked on a suede-y pineapple. It turned out it calms me down. It’s comforting and familiar, but not in a “I’ve smelled this before” way. It’s tied to my core memories, of nothing and no one in particular. One of those emotionally significant scents to me. Ps: I got a 4 oz bottle.

Exquisite. Reminds me of a scent that hawaiian royalty would wear. I smell pineapple and something a little salty too. Maybe peanuty? I know that sounds wierd, but i smell something nutty and not nutmeg cause its not spicelike, it smells a little nutty. Thats the beginning, after a couple of minutes i smell rose and powdery but slightly sweet like there is a touch of citrus. ITs very good. I love it. It changes and changes

Wow, people have a lot to say about this one! I really like it. It's pineapple candy sweet, floral (I'd say it's a sort of generic floral - not a typical "white floral" I'd expect with gardenia and jasmine notes both listed), very powdery with just a touch of spice. It's feminine and works for the office or casual daytime. Great lasting power 8+ hours on me with projection for the first couple hours.

I'm usually not a fan of fruit smells in perfume, but I love the pineapple note in 1804. It adds playfulness to the mysterious oriental notes. I'm also appreciative of how light the patchouli is. I can tell it is there, but it doesn't overwhelm me like it does in most modern scents. If I could rename this perfume it would be "Chanel Goes to the Tropics." =)

Now that is pure pulp of the fruit. I'm up to the flavor of pineapple, OMG this is very good. A fruity acid prominence with pineapple dominated everything. Fantastic it is unique and does not resemble anything on the market until the present day. I rank it well: Smell: 9.5/10 Projection: 9.5/10 Longevity: 9/10

I don't think so it really like a cheap-fruit perfume. Actually fruit scents not my style but there is something about this perfume I like very much. When I sprayed on my skin I sniff it all day without stop. It's really delicious and attractive. Also it has good long lasting and sillage. Excellent!!

Seems to me to be a sweeter flirtier version of Micallef Mon Parfum. Just wonderful without being cloying and immature and uninteresting...hard to do these days with what's typically offered in perfume retail. I haven't met a HdP that I haven't loved. A winning niche brand for me.

The initial blast is very Floral... Rose water and Lily of the Valley and fruity a coupling of Peach and something else... Little did I know it was Pineapple!!! Very much a Vanilla /Wood Mix ...as it settles on my skin...which is definitely my favorite Base ...

This is one of the most beautiful summer fragrance I have ever tried. I wore it at the beach and it was amazing on me. Everybody love it and got many compliments. Very long lasting and good sillage. Sweet perfume not my style but 1804 delicious!

This sprays out with pineapple juiciness! Then it turns powdery. So I love it! I'm ignoring the fact that it has cloves in it because I do not like cloves. Someone said it stinks like sour cream but I'm not getting that. Its great!

1804 is a sweet, rich cozy gourmand that blooms gorgeously on my skin. Though mostly pineapple, I also pick up the peach, patchouli, powdery notes, and a touch of rose. I don't even like pineapple, but this is a stunner.

Fruit perfumes are difficult for me. I don’t find myself caring for most of them. Why, who knows. Maybe something happened to me in my childhood that I've long forgotten but has etched itself permanently into my subsconcious. Leave it to Sylvie Jourdet to provide an exception. The pineapple and peach opening is delicious. Oozing fresh juices, ripe flesh and skins, are tantalizing in a sinful way thanks to the addition of a very heady gardenia note. Luscious, mouth watering, and sexy. A quick march to the heart showcases a radical left turn. 1804 immediately puts on an air of innocence and white purity in the form of creamy white muguet and jammy roses. It's odd. Really odd. The connection to the fruity and heady top is obvious, but the sudden shift of personality caught me off guard. It's completely synthetic and doesn't give or tries for a naturalistic impression, but nonetheless it's quite pretty and sweetly tenderhearted. White soap musks at the base (how obvious) mingle with milky sandalwood, sweet, loamy patchouli, and vanilla to turn left, yet again, this time in the direction of a rather standard masculine amber...? What the hell is going on with this perfume? Like the author for whom it is named, this perfume is a quite complicated, odd, sometimes pushy, and forward-thinking character. Reading other reviews of it after I finally had my thoughts on paper, I can confirm the aforementioned characteristics simply by the number of highly polarized opinions. What people think of this perfume is all over the board, just like the perfume itself. I have no idea if I want to wear it again, but it is art, it was done with care and attention to detail, and I respect it a lot. I have to give Ms. Jourdet kudos yet again for a superb creation that kept me on my toes from start to finish.

Have you ever seen a dip dye or Ombre shirt? Where the top layer of color is white, which then blends into the bottom layer of color, in this case, yellow? There’s a thin band of color in between where the two blend but it’s mainly two separate colors. That’s what this perfume is like. The top band is a dense musky white powder, comprised of benzoin, sandalwood and musk. And a very sedate and gentle patchouli. There’s a little bit of polite white flowers in here too, mainly lotv. Then out of nowhere the yellow layer appears, and it makes no real attempt to blend into the white layer. It is pineapple, not fresh pineapple but rings of it, like you see on a cake or a ham. Let’s say ham because there’s a little spice on these rings and also a slightly meaty quality to them. The disparity between these two layers is kind of bizarre. They never really mesh completely and they also don’t really communicate with each other or seem to belong together. It’s a perfume comprised of two separate parts. So you kind of get two for the price of one but it’s hard to think of this as a good thing. It seems like an opportunity was missed to blend the two sides a little more. Still, I don’t hate this or even dislike it - I think I like it but I also just think it’s strange. Maybe it’s like George Sand herself, with her two personas. She chose a man’s pen name to allow herself freedom from the strictures put on women at the time. The pineapple represents her freedom, her unfettered side. And the sweet musky side is a nod to convention.

A room filling radiant and attention-grabbing fragrance. Pineapple? OK, I agree, but with lot of musks and a bit patchouli. It doesn't change with the time. First time I tested this on a blotter I found it a little bit annoying and threw it out in my paper garbage at home. After three days I had to rake out the blotter as it still stole my attention from my computer work speaking from the dustbin with me. I don't care about fragrances, if they costs more than 1 €/1 ml and are not in that much appealing bottle - the bottle looks like it holds a perfume for a men, I threw the blotter out of my room. A half an year passed and today in the City I sprayed it five times on my cap. The fragrance has something what definitely grabs attention in a very good way so that it made me just somehow dreaming. My hubby was totally smitten (actually he doesn't care that much about fragrances at all and told me hard, my perfume wardrobe were a medicinal mess) and forced me to go in the store again to buy a whole bottle of this terrific water. I didn't want it, OMG, I have about 150 bottles of stuff and he knows it, but after a half hour he said it again and if I would not do it, he comes with me and buy it for me even if I don't want. This perfume creates a dense and thick trajectory behind you and holds two days. I see it as a versatile fragrance for day and night and unisex for sure.

Histoires de Parfums 1804 has a decidedly Lolita Lempicka-esque demeanor. And that's a very good thing, according to my nose: voluptuous and sumptuous, a thick comfort scent of the woody floriental variety with an ever-so-slightly masculine edge that makes it wearable by guys and gals alike. Although this composition does not contain the trademark Lolita Lempicka licorice note, there is enough overlap of everything else to impart the same general aesthetic to this perfume. One of the nicest features of the perfumes of Lolita Lempicka is their declarative nature: they are not afraid to seduce, and neither is 1804. Wearing this perfume is a full-fledged experience in and of itself, not merely an accompaniment to whatever one happens to be doing. Sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, and vanilla combine to anchor the rich floral notes spiced with a touch of nutmeg. I like it a lot!

Of the two fruity patchouli perfumes by Histoires de Parfums I absolutely love 1969, but 1804 is more of a like. It starts out with fresh, summery pineapple that can be a bit sour, almost citrussy to me. Patchouli and musk join in and almost overpower the pineapple, but then they all meld together. In the drydown the vanilla and especially the benzoin are very prominent, but there are also very light spicy notes and still hints of the pineapple and patchouli. I really like the drydown, it has something dry and something creamy at the same time. For some reason it made me think of a very milky latte macchiato, though this has no coffee note. Maybe the warm creaminess and light spice have a similar effect to me. Overall, this is really nice, but a bit too sour in its fruitiness for my personal taste, and it just doesn't wow me enough for the price.

1804 smells like hairspray, but in a good way. I guess the benzoin is what is reminding me of aerosol inhalants. I don’t detect specific notes in it. For those saying pineapple, they must mean the canned variety. (Back in my server days, I used to cut fresh pineapple everyday, and they DO NOT smell like this fragrance.) What I do get is a very well blended mix of complementary components. The overall effect is a very crisp, clean fruity-floral scent. Whether a perfume, an air freshener, a scented candle, a lotion, etc., a fragrance that is properly done should smell like the sum of its notes, instead of each individual one competing for my attention. That is what I get with 1804. Histoires de Parfums does some really incredible work. Even for their frags that aren’t my particular taste, I still wind up having to admit they were expertly crafted.

I'm of two minds about 1804. Not a huge fan of the initial spray/first three-ish hours of wear. The pineapple opening is really pleasant, but some of the other notes (can't really say which) it mixes with causes it to veer into scented candle/air freshener territory on cold days and bug spray on warmer ones. After a few hours though, that artificial scent dispells and I get a nice warm yet fresh pinapple, vanilla, and sandalwood scent that works for any time. On the plus, it has a really long wear time (at least 12 hours with 2-3 sprays from their sample sized sprays), so most of the wear time is a positive for me. Definitely grab a sample if you like pineapple. It seems most people don't get that air freshener opening.

The opening here is powerful. The peach is very floral (smells like a peach blossom more than the fruit); the pineapple is candy-sweet on my skin. The rose adds lovely depth to the white-floral heart of the perfume, but I don't pick up the spices-- nutmeg, cloves-- listed in the breakdown. By the time the sandalwood and patchouli kick in, 1804 smells not unpleasantly like a burnt-down stick of very sweet incense, though not quite so much as HdP 1969, to which this bears unmistakable similarities. Gentlemen can wear this with the appropriate amount of confidence, but you might get some odd looks, especially early in the scent's lifespan. I think this fragrance leans feminine to most noses.

A very nice warm pineapple scent. I think this would be great for anyone looking for a tropical scent that doesn't rely on coconut. Pineapple is really the central note in this fragrance, but as it wears, the vanilla and musk notes become more noticeable. A nice fragrance for those who like sweet, fruity scents, but a bit one dimensional compared to other HdP fragrances. Nice, but for the most part unremarkable. 3.5/5 EDIT: We've been having a 90+ degree heat wave lately and I've been wearing this scent often during it. I have to say that the simplicity is a virtue rather than a drawback when it's hot like this. Very uplifting and refreshing!

As someone who has consistently hated perfumes with pineapple as a dominant note, I really didn’t recognize the pineapple. The patchouli stood out most to me here and it is very understated but distinctive. However now that I know there is pineapple I am smelling it a bit and I quite like it. The scent dries down to a dry sweet and slightly smoky and soapy patchouli. Wearable now in warm weather, and I imagine it would also be quite nice on a cold day also. Long lasting. Moderate projection—inoffensive but definitely noticeable. Smells nothing like Frapin 1270. Weird that it is on the smells like list. Maybe I am missing something.

This one has always intrigued me in that I struggle with consistently loving/liking it. I've always appreciated the fragrance and the beauty and ingenuity of its composition. I do think it is representative of George Sand's personality in many ways however it doesn't capture her fire and her strength. She was/is an enigma and this isn't an enigmatic scent in my view. It's not memorable enough. It's somewhat a crowd pleaser. A quasi gourmand. Still, I like the pineapple and the spices. I wish it were more powerful and long-lasting. To those who haven't yet tried 1804, don't let my view dissuade you. It is indeed worth exploring.

Completely unisex. Goes on with a dry, catch-your-throat sharp alcohol blast like a cheap perfume sprayed in a bathroom but then a hint of cocoa comes through (probably a dry vanilla note mixed with the sweet fruit) then the fruit takes over. A lovely sweet dried pineapple scent with lots of musk wrapping around it to deepen it. I don't like fruit fragrances. I like this one. But like the rest of this line, goes from a love to a like because I have to keep running my nose along my arm. Skin scents. Gorgeous skin scents with 3-4 sprays in a small area. In the base the final note that comes forward is prominent vanilla.

On me this starts off with peach blossom and suede-y pineapple and stays like that for at least an hour. It slowly morphs into more of a balance between these softer fruit notes and some powdery, white floral with an almost autumnal incense thrown in. The jasmine does lean a bit indolic, which is why others have brought up the scent of sweat or something unexpectedly tart in the background - so if you're more into fragrances that are designer and mass-appealing, this might not be for you. I personally think this is a beautiful, unique fruit fragrance for a woman, or if used somewhat sparingly, for a man as well. 8/10

I love pineapple so I took a chance and purchased this s a blind-buy . . . drumroll . . . WINNER!!! This is so lovely!! It opens with this lovely sweetened pineapple and morphs into spicey florals, a hit of vanilla and some patch. It reminded me of something familiar and it hit me . . . Sonia Rykiel original!! Not exactly the same but definitely a similar interpretation of familiar notes. It's an oriental that would appeal to "daring" gourmand lovers, and lovers of spicey heavy hitters looking for something fruity/gourmand but only a little bit. Complex and wonderful!! Yay!!!

This is just lovely; however, it was love at second sight for me. The first few minutes were a bit too much, too strong, I thought it almost stuffy, but it quickly settled into a very warm, sweet and aromatic smell. Overall, it's a rather sweet perfume, but it's not "candy-sweet"; I would call it an aromatic sweetness with some fresh and elegant notes surrounding it. The base of vanilla and sandalwood lasts very, very long; it's even still there in the morning when I leave it on overnight.

I tested a sample of this yesterday and again this am. It smells strongly of pineapple - that fades some but stays present - and I also get some graham cracker cosiness very early on, among the exotic flowers. A ways in I get a pretty distinct plastic "Barbie Doll" smell. Pineapple, graham crackers, barbie doll - I can't decide if this is my summer happy dream come true or if I need an intervention. This morning on freshly showered skin I also got some Barbie with BO. Patch? Im conflicted!
