Best kept secret from the house of HDP, aside from the rare Music Hall. If you're looking for the ultimate gooey, balmy, resinous fragrance, this is it. It's dominated by elemi and styrax, with lavender to soften it up, and a touch of coffee (I normally dislike coffee) + some bakoor oud, over a base of patchouli and amber fixatives. If you wear it enough and know this house well, you'll notice the base is similar to 1750 Marquis De Sade, with a dialed down rich syrupy vibe, but much more complex. It also flashes LIDGE, and even Chanel Coromandel. If you're looking for or love balmy humid resins, this is the pinnacle. It's a safe blind buy if you have a nose for niche, otherwise definitely sample first. This is my favorite from the En Aparte (prolixe is close 2nd) line. They take the loverboy lavender from 1725 and make it badboy here in Irreverent. This is a styrax followed by elemi, lavender and a touch of coffee. Very rich, balmy and resinous. Someone mentioned Chanel Coromandel and I think it's a darker and possibly better version of that on the late stage drydown. Maybe a bit like LIDGE mixed with Coromandel with the addition of lavender. This is versatile and could work with a leather jacket or a black tie event imo. If you like lavender and resins, you will love this. Scent 9/10 Performance 7/10

A lovely powdery woody chypre composition Irreverant is a bright happy scent. It shares like some reviewers note proximities to other patchouli driven beauties like Coromandel and Richwood but has enough in it to set it apart. The perfume opens with notes of lavender, bergamot and elemi resin. The brief heart is tonka beans, oud and styrax. The perfume settles on a bed of amber, sandalwood and the dominant patchouli note. The perfume is well blended with strong sillage and projection and lasts forever. Needs strong personalities to carry off. Others spray cautiously. Enjoy!

With the addition of styrax this reminds me of an Andy Tauer composition. I like the oud used in this too, in fact all three of Histoiries new releases are pretty good. Strong lavender accord throughout, but the styrax and elemi dominates. Great performance (8+ hrs)

Hmm. Lavender-flavored latte. Good for sleeping. One spray before going to bed and it's just good and stays until you go to work next morning. good longevity, nice projection. A bit cloying at times (which puts me off slightly) so make sure not to overspray.

This is a darling. Never received so many compliments in one night. People told me after the party that some told even to other people that I smell so good. Boozy, resinous, slightly oud-y, sweet, deep, expensive smelling with a powdery feel. Overall 10/10!

You can smell the Oud right off the bat. Not the often used synthetic stuff, this smells genuine. Very well balanced with the other ingredients on my skin to constantly keep me guessing as to which note is most prominent at any one time.

Always coming back to this boozy, sweet, dark fragrance. To me it doesn’t smell like a chypre at all but like a very sophisticated gourmand. Having a dark chocolate in a moist room with a cognac.

This would be the vampire Lestat's signature fragrance. In fact, I think he'd probably alternate between this and Black Orchid. This starts out potent, brooding, dark, rich, creamy with a touch of sweetness - it has this bold resinous quality that really announces its presence. It dries down to something much sweeter, becoming the most erotic, inviting and warm scent that just pulls you in. Definitely at its best on a cold winters evening. It is by far the most resinous fragrance that I have in my collection, and I think I need to be feeling particularly confident to wear it. Like the reviewer below, I also bought the 15mL bottle because to me this is very much an occasional wear, and the only other option available is 120mL which would probably last me the rest of my life. A little goes a very long way. 10/10 for the scent 10/10 for performance 4/10 for versatility

I don't think it's really green (definitely don't look at it for a fresh bergamot idea, same with lavender). I don't think it's very woody either. On the top notes, on the other hand, I feel the coffee very well though. A kind of Italian coffee, with a huge cloud of milk-sugar foam on top. To my nose, it is mostly very aromatic, very balmy, very spicy, almost creamy on the dry down (maybe a little bit resinous-ish, indeed, but a resin infused in cream, sweetened). I think the composition is really pretty. On the other hand, it is indeed very, very powerful. One spray is enough to stick to my nose and skin all day long (and it stays for ages on fabric). But aside from that enormous sillage, which can quickly get on your nerves, I think it's a beautiful creation. I like to wear it from time to time, especially in the fall.

This is probably the most well-blended of the en aparte trilogy by Histoires. It is deeply resinous and balsamic, and the lavender and coffee keep it feeling quite fresh or even energizing depending on one's mood. This one is certainly bold, rich, warm, and creamy - some others have added dark and brooding to that list of descriptors (maybe because of the oud and patchouli?), but I'm personally not getting that vibe very much at all; I would even go so far as to say that it leans more towards the cozy side of things. I feel like it should be mass-appealing as it doesn't have any notes that go overboard or inject much dissonance into the overall fragrance. Though I quite enjoy it, it is not the kind of fragrance that reflects me personally. 8/10

A thick bitter herbal extract opened in a room full of dried flowers next to the chateau orangery. Vintage pieces of furniture soaked in protective oils stored on a waxed floor... a museum in a drop. Dense air behind heavy curtains, which reluctantly let in a limited amount of brownish-pink light through the stained glass windows. There is autumn greenery outside, but the scent nevertheless breaks after about four hours into a slight amber stickiness and honeyiness, from which it still manages to partially awake to a pleasantly spicy restoration workshop in the drydown. 110 Euro for 60ml is a bit higher price in this niche level, but still justifiable.

This is what I expected Penhaligon's Endymion Concentré would be like as this HdP edp seems the heavier version of the Endymion Cologne. Where Endymion Cologne is fresh, more about the lavender, coffee and Bergamot, Irrévérant HdP has the same prominent notes but is more balsamic due to a heavy dose of Oud, Elemi and Styrax. Although I think all three of the HdP En Aparté are absolutely wonderful I think only irrévérent suits men. Personally I can't stomach Elemi.. too thick, hints of burned plastic and on my skin uber sweet. For my coffee, lavender and bergamot combination I will stick to the original Endymion.

Somewhat testing blind with others in this series, this has a nice light and citrus forward air to it (compared to it's companions). There's a sweetness at the the top that suggests daytime or Sunday brunch wearing in a pink shirt while unmistakable having an oud element in the back pocket. There's almost a citrus tartness that comes through, followed by the amber and oud blend. A hint of spice hangs around but is subtle. The patchouli is helping out but I don't think it is up front. Maybe the lavender is there, but I get no coffee whatsoever. Bright and oud mix makes it versatile.

Vanillic elemi, lavender and dirty patch, with subtle woody notes in the background (oud? I doubt it). On my skin, except for the opening, performance is average. Anyways, had I to describe that, I would define it as a vanilla/patch fragrance with strong florals and incense. Really warm and nice, but not quintessential imo. Glad I got a 15ml bottle for under $20, but will not transfrom it into a large one. Will probably please younger crowds. A good frag for nights out in the Fall.

This one seems to have multiple personality disorder, completely undependable and I just don't get it. There is a gorgeous, resinous, ancient feeling blend of elemi, styrax and patchouli that reminds me in some ways of Serge Lutens' Chêne(or the memory of it anyway, haven't smelled it in years), but it comes only in waves from the very beginning. Scent right down to the skin will often mysteriously vanish, leaving behind a faint lavender bergamot. Perhaps it's anosmia, though I think that term is often bandied about when people are mistaken about what a particular note smells like or are unable to pick apart a well blended(or hopelessly muddled) fragrance. No shade there, as my nose has plenty of limitations, but you'll never see me write, "I must be anosmic to x note because this doesn't smell the way I hoped it would." In any case, the effect in the air is an intermittent and relatively soft sillage, unless you take a bath in it, which I am currently doing as a kind of last ditch effort. It's not going particularly well. I've noted that there is a common thread between this, 1740 and Fidelis, most likely this particularly dense patchouli, which the powerhouse that is Fidelis balances against a voluminous and sweet raspberry-rose accord(wayyy too much for me), and 1740 harmonizing to a drier, more woody extent(just right). I expect that that makes Irréverént the porridge that's too cold. Very interesting, and a soft enough resinous scent that I might actually consider wearing it, but unfortunately never quite there.

I’ve opened the door to a 2000 year old chamber and am immersed in the dusty, woody, leathery aroma from ancient treasures. I pick up an animalic note in the dry down, at times overbearing. Smelling it close to skin may not bring out the best of this fragrance, it may be one to smell on someone else to fully appreciate the fragrance.

not the best of the trilogy but surely the most easy to like. Clear identifiable notes and harmonious composition put it appart of its two siblings. It mostly a balmy core comfortably sits on a warm patchouli-sandalwood base. Nicely done

Why don't I like this fragrance? It should work: lots of lovely resins and a patchouli base, but the opening has a suffocating (and even stomach-turning) effect for me. I think this is because it's more gourmand than anything - there is a strange mixture here of coconut and chocolate that I feel I'm being forced to ingest against my will! Mercifully it faded within a couple of hours (having given me a headache!) and it won't be a fragrance I will be returning to any time soon.

Just another ambery fougere type that does absolutely nothing to break me away from the same brand's Ambre 114 which is smoother, sweeter and rounder. Doesn't have me to make the admittance I have the teeny-drugstore favorite note lavender in my scent too. My rating: 4/10.

Irreverent by Histoires De Parfums I've had Irreverent for quite some time now, yet it remains a challenge to fully articulate my opinion on it. This fragrance features a heavy vanilla and church incense base, accentuated by the unusual bright top notes of lavender, bergamot, and elemi. The elemi, with its fresh, lemony, and slightly balsamic scent, is undoubtedly the star of the show. It combines the zesty brightness of citrus with a subtle, peppery spiciness and a resinous, pine-like undertone. In my experience, elemi resin always presents a very bright aroma on its own. When combined with zingy citrus and powdery lavender, it creates an unusual opening that leads to an equally unique drydown. This fragrance evokes the ambiance of a church, and it wears accordingly. It may not be an easy or uplifting wear, but there are times when I find myself reaching for it. The technical performance is simply excellent. With my usual 3-4 sprays, it stays with me for the majority of the day. Luca Maffei has done an exceptional job with Irreverent, giving it a unique character that will appeal to many who appreciate incense fragrances with a twist. Though discontinued, as a collector, I am happy to have a large bottle in my collection and will cherish it.

This perfume from the new line HDP and after testing this perfume many times, I bought the whole collection including this perfume which is about lavender and it's a challenge to play with the lavender to put it in a right place and I think the perfumer ''LUCA''was smart enough to make a composition with coffee, oud, and ginger which are very harsh notes and blend them with the lavender to become a bespoke perfume. suitable for any season and for any occasion. Overall 8/10.

I was totally surprsied at this fragrance. Reviews led me to it and I was skeptical. This is a true gem. 10/10 scent 8/10 on performance. Overall 9/10 This is how I like my fragrances! Has a powdery woody scent. I thought midnight in paris on my initial spray-- but sweeter; i believe the lavender tames some of the other notes. Not as powdery but I like to associate based upon what I have. Will definitely buy full bottle when I am out of my 15ML.

I completely agree with the review below that likened this to Endymion. Had Penhaligon’s chosen to add Oud instead of a generic, designer mass appealing smelling leather to the EDP version, this is what they would’ve ended up with. It’s wonderful. Edit: In the drydown it starts resembling a broodier, sexier L'Instant de Guerlain EDP thanks to the cacao+patchouli combo. LIDG is one of my faves so this is welcome.

This truly is a unique aromatic. Definitely suited to cooler weather (I think heat would make the lavender headache-inducing. Leans quite masculine, so I sweeten it up with Cherry Punk so I still get that slightly heady patchouli dry down, but with a little bit more fruit. Definitely not a blind buy, but if you’re looking for something unique, you’ve got it in spades.

Nice Elemi fragrance from the outset reminds me of Fillipo Sorcinelli and his approach to incense. The Bergamot and coffee combo are giving me a strong indication of Creme de Menthe and the milkiness makes me feel like I’m smelling a Grasshopper cocktail. Interesting.

I think I have found my spirit animal house. I absolutely love this. I now own: Fidelis 60ml 1740 60ml Rosam 15ml Prolixe 15ml Irrévérent 15ml I would find it very difficult to rank them in order - they all speak wonderful things to me.

This fragrance made me conclude that I am really not a fan of Amber. Over-spraying this will stink. It has this resinous slightly aroma. This I find very masculine than unisex.

An interesting piney patchouli with a lovely ambery base, not generally a fan of resinous perfumes, but this is well blended and not so cloying. Good performance

To me, this is simply sandalwood-elemi on my skin. No coffee or any other spices. Comes across muted, lightly, tartly-resinous, and very woody. Leans masculine.

Different notes but Angel’s Share vibes... both nauseating to me but Irreverent is far more tolerable of the two.

Very resinous opening almost like smoke and balsam fir. Settles after 20 minutes. Gorgeous dry down.

A darker and much complex version of Chanel's Coromandel.
